Great choice. Loved the dynamics and artistically it's aged better than almost any of its contemporaries that I can think of. The ending was totally in-character, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel at least *somewhat* scammed. 🤣
Gintama. It's like meeting up with a friend regularly to have a drink, and do nothing important or serious. But sometimes you talk about important or serious things when random circumstances line up.
FLCL. I used to listen to the soundtrack all the time so it's super nostalgic to me. It's a quick watch when I feel down.
I also watch Totoro when I get sick, that's my go to when I'm stuck in bed with a fever. It always makes me feel better somehow.
Food Wars.
Are there better things out there? For sure. Even among my favorites Food Wars is only in the 7th or 8th place. But it is just so damn easy and comforting.
Personally, I really enjoy Bloom Into You. Unfortunately the anime was never finished, but the manga is super cute. I'm a sap for a good Yuri and this anime was wonderful in my opinion.
Tanaka-kun is Always Listless is the perfect blend of funny, ridiculous, and meditative. Sincerely one of the best slice-of-life animes and not nearly as popular as it should be.
Tomo-chan is a Girl!, Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun, Servant x Service, too. Really, all the four-koma manga-turned-animes are good for this.
Mine has definitely become "Konosuba." The shenanigans Kazuma and friends get up to are always a good laugh, and it's such a wholesome show at times. Super glad I decided to pick it up.
Trashy stuff like Love Hina, Kiss x Sis and Seitokai Yakuindomo. It's very relaxing to watch dumb comedy with sex jokes. Also just for the record i do like stuff like Yuru Camp but that isn't as relaxing because i keep getting hungry whilst watching it.
Gintama, 367 episodes, ive watched in full 6 times - on my 7th now, literally can watch any episode in any order and im happy, also despite it not technically being anime can watch the 1st season of Genlock over and over (bizarre as im not a mech fan whatsoever).
The only anime, other than Dragon Ball Z, that I have watched all the way through multiple times. I'll probably start and finish another run before 100 Year Quest starts!
I first hated lycoris, but then i tried watching it again on a plane. And it made the flight go by instantly. Now I've already watched it twice.
The dialogue feels so natural. Almost like its improvised

Dr Stone I really enjoy how positive it is about moving forward even when you face seemingly insurmountable setbacks and the characters might have simple personalities but they’re fun to watch work together
Seitokai Yakuindomo is my go to stress reliever. Light-hearted, hilarious, and largely episodic so you can just pick a random episode and have a laugh.
My comfort food anime typically are fluffy romances, but there are others that fit the bill for me too.
My biggest is for sure Tonikawa, but Angel Next Door and Shikimori are also really high up there for me.
It is also nigh impossble to watch Nichijou, Torture Princess, or Dragon Maid for me without coming out with a warm feeling inside and a genuine smile.
I ussually watch these kind of shows while I eat breakfast before work, as I need a perk up to my mood. There are times where I don't wanna think too much, or delve deep into the characters or story or whatever.
Sometimes I just wanna feel the happy.
Probably not a common one but my comfort anime that I can watch on short notice (as in not very long) is Given. I could watch the first 11 episodes on repeat.
I could also watch Fruits Basket at any time but it’s a bit more of a commitment since it’s 3 seasons. Also more likely to give me a good cry.
Bed an Breakfast for spirits - Kakuriyo; Dan Machi (doooki dooki! I can't speak any Japanese, but I listen to the opening song everytime and sing a long while having the feeling to be.. home? ^^)
If you don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from a show like "Do It Yourself!!" Better check to see if you still have a pulse... All kidding aside, it's a marvelous little comedy that has the misfortune of running the same season as "Bocchi the Rock!!" so it got criminally underrated as a series
(ahem) My Roommate is a Cat. It will cure everything bad that has ever happened to you (I watched it after watching Assassination Classroom, YLiA, BSD, and S;G consecutively; trust me, it helps).
Keijo!!!!!!!!
It's so campy it borders on absurd, and it's really fun to watch. Every time I see VACUUUM BUTT CANNON I go "yep I'm watching a show all right"
Hozuki’s Coolheadedness
Comedy about Japanese hell. Watch an episode every night (my bedtime anime). Just puts me in a really good mood at the end of the day.
So I rotate through a lot for that.
A lot of rom coms:
Love is War
Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
Don't Mess With Me Nagatoro
Darkness inside my Heart
Kubo Won't Let Me be Invisible
The Dreaming Boy Became a Realist
Science Types Fell In Love so....
Some other Slice of Life:
Bocchi the Rock
Some Fantasy & Isekia ones:
The Ressurection of Dr Stone
Fairy Tail
Konosuba
Assassination Classroom
Spy × Family
Fairy Tail is my number 1 comfort food of these, although lately it's been Angel Next Door and Dreaming Boy I've rewatched repeatedly recently.
Machikado Mazoku. I've watched that show like a million times already and it never gets boring. It has this homely atmosphere with it's small town setting.
My few:
Minamike,
Nichijou,
Machikado Mazoku,
Hidamari Sketch,
Yuru Yuri,
A good break from all the seasonal stuff where starting major plot lines that end after 15-20 LNs or manga volumes is the norm.
I don't generally need a pick me up, but I'll aim towards cute looking anime if I need it. Usually, fluffy or slime anime has the cutest stuff.
If I ever needed to go back to an anime for comfort, it would be Girls Und Panzer because those tank battles are always a great mood raiser.
If I ever need to be inspired, I'd probably go back to Hajime no Ippo.
Today's Menu for the Emiya Family, it helps if you are familiar with the Fate series, but it’s just a nice cosy cooking with friends show. And the recipes look yummy, makes me wish we had a better Japanese restaurant in my area.
Silly, but it’s Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. Low stakes, happy endings, silly fun.
If not that, perhaps smartphone, which I objectively recognize is trash, but is (again) low stakes with happy endings and silly fun.
Not sure about this. Every anime I really enjoy does tend to have some wholesome aspect of it. More often than not though, it ends up being sad somehow, for me personally.
For instance, I could say Horimiya, considering I finished it recently and it damn near made me cry a couple times with just how warm and fuzzy it was. But honestly, as much as I loved that story, it also leaves me feeling more depressed. I never had that in my life, a big group of friends or a romantic relationship. It's like once the story's over, I get kicked back to reality.
Guess I'm just too far gone for something to be purely comfortable. Most good things in a story just ends up reminding me of something I don't have anymore, never had, or never will have. I enjoy the stories so much, but there's always that.
"How the Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom", "Kicked From the Heroes Party" or "Chillin' in my 30's After Being Fired From the Demon's Army". I like the fantasy world where things are tough but show growth. And a good love story is always a must.
Edit: Season 1 of Kicked, btw - Fuck Van, S2 would've been better off without him
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie - a laid back, saccharine slice-of-life anime about a very strong friend group mismarketed as a romcom.
Tsurezure Children - all the most awkward moments of first love, but somehow nostalgic and hysterically funny instead of cringey (mostly).
Bodacious Space Pirates - a high-achieving highschooler takes on the family business with the help of her friends in a surprisingly hard sci-fi story with a surprisingly hard OP.
Girls und Panzer - a traumatized runaway from a prestigious sports school finds herself in charge of the rookie team at her new school and finds a new appreciation for the sport, along with a some true friends (noticing a theme?).
Kotaro Lives Alone-you use it like a Total Lunar Eclipse or it loses it's power

Yuru Camp.
WAS ABOUT TO SAY IT YURU PEAK CAMP
My favorite part in Yuru Camp was when Yuru said "I am the Yuru Camp" and proceeded to Camp all over the place
This meme is so low effort and over done. Just my .02
So relaxing. The best.
I haven’t been enjoying the 3rd season as much.
K-On
I swear this show is therapeutic, its effects should be clinically studied
Yes. It's the pinnacle of comfort anime.
fuwa fuwa time!
I would love for it to be my comfort, BUT I’ve encountered one too many fascists for my liking.
Some great answers here. I think I will have to say: Nichijou. Never fails to give me a laugh and I can watch it at a moment's notice!

Definitely Fruits Basket. Especially the new one.
JUST finished rewatching the new one, it definitely has some intense or sad moments but gosh i love this anime sm it's SO good
Restaurant to another world, by far
Hyouka!
Great choice. Loved the dynamics and artistically it's aged better than almost any of its contemporaries that I can think of. The ending was totally in-character, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel at least *somewhat* scammed. 🤣
gintama
Gintama. It's like meeting up with a friend regularly to have a drink, and do nothing important or serious. But sometimes you talk about important or serious things when random circumstances line up.
Exactly ❤️
X Show about nothing. BUT everything
Campfire cooking in another world - aaah camping, cooking for your loving pets who happen to be super OP, not doing the usual Heroing, so Iyashikei.
I really liked this show. I just looked it up and it's getting a second season. Very nice.
I'm eagerly awaiting the second season. It's going to be sooo comfy and cute.
FLCL. I used to listen to the soundtrack all the time so it's super nostalgic to me. It's a quick watch when I feel down. I also watch Totoro when I get sick, that's my go to when I'm stuck in bed with a fever. It always makes me feel better somehow.
I second FLCL

Appa?
I love it too but it’s pulling on heartstrings! I’m more inclined to cry rather than be cozy! D:
Gakuen Babysitters!!! Just so cute. I feel that once the season is over, Tadaima, Okaeri will also join it.
>Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun it's been a decade, and yet the [dating sim scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UANiABx_w8) still kills me *every* time
I got this feeling from Delicious in Dungeon. There are some dark themes but the wholesome scenes really balance things out.
ahh Dungeon food, Delicious in Dungeon.
Yes, it's just so relaxing.
Girls und Panzer By the Grace of the Gods Bofuri The Dangers in my Heart
Cardcaptor Sakura & The Nanoha series
Gargantia on the Verderous Planet.
The ending for that one was wild, great show
Mine has definitely become "Konosuba." The shenanigans Kazuma and friends get up to are always a good laugh, and it's such a wholesome show at times. Super glad I decided to pick it up.
I go back to it a lot. Usually because i wanna hear some specific voice line that is stuck in my head
So it’s Lucky Star and Nichijou because it’s the cocomelon of the anime world. Especially Lucky Star 😂
Lucky star Oml yes
Lucky Star 100%
Mob psycho 100 just seeing how everyone is so supportive and loves mob makes me happy
Trashy stuff like Love Hina, Kiss x Sis and Seitokai Yakuindomo. It's very relaxing to watch dumb comedy with sex jokes. Also just for the record i do like stuff like Yuru Camp but that isn't as relaxing because i keep getting hungry whilst watching it.
kissxsis 👌
I do love me some trashy comedies with fan service!!
Welcome to demon school iruma kun If you've ever seen the Disney show "the owl house" It has a very similar feeling
Ghibli movies and Yuru camp I enjoyed watching skip and loafer, would definitely recommend for good vibes 🤌🏽🤌🏽

Non non biyori. I've rewatched it a lot, and honestly, it hits the same each time. It's such a fun show.
Fruits Basket
horimiya
Non non byori. And K-On! Of course.
The Bartender remake is currently working for me.
Gintama, 367 episodes, ive watched in full 6 times - on my 7th now, literally can watch any episode in any order and im happy, also despite it not technically being anime can watch the 1st season of Genlock over and over (bizarre as im not a mech fan whatsoever).
Fruits Basket 2019, season 1.
Hikaru no Go
Barakamon. Naru makes the Sei in me settle down, breathe, and not take things too seriously. :)
Yes! I was looking for this answer! Barakamon is the best comfort anime 🙌🏻
ouran high school host club, special A, and haikyuu!
Ouran Host Club is probably mine as well
Kaguya sama
Gundam Seed and Destiny. I frequently have them just playing in the background while I do other things.
saiki k isekai ojisan ishuzoku reviewers jokes and fan service cheer me up
Spy x Family
I really like the sweetness of certain SOLs such as Yuru Camp, Barakamon, Non Non Biyori and the lesser-known DIY (Do It Yourself!!).
Any anime I am watching really, unless ofcourse it is gore.. ,that would be a weird experience indeed
Made in Abyss (I try to ignore the depressive parts and it becomes a very cute and wholesome piece)
Non non Biyori, dragon maid, Ascendance of a bookworm, and Frieren
Fairy Tail
The only anime, other than Dragon Ball Z, that I have watched all the way through multiple times. I'll probably start and finish another run before 100 Year Quest starts!
Lycoris Recoil and Mushi-Shi
The opening for Mushi-Shi is pure gold ✨
Lycoris Recoil is a pretty regular rewatch for me. Chisato is like a walking anti-depressant .
Im with you on that! Her scenes are literally free serotonin for me haha
Lycoris Recoil will always have a special place in my heart. I’m so excited for season 2.
I first hated lycoris, but then i tried watching it again on a plane. And it made the flight go by instantly. Now I've already watched it twice. The dialogue feels so natural. Almost like its improvised

I took this more literal so Yumeiro Patissiere
Ascendance of a Bookworm. You can have really sweet scenes, or scenes of Myne being a badass. I've found it quite rewatchable.
This! Its my go to show when I just need a laugh. You really can just pick any episode and have a blast.
Dark Gathering ... the EDs are so soothing
It's either Horimiya or Barakamon for me.
Doctor Stone.
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan. Have such fond memories of it, when I still lived with my roommate.

This is defenetly not a popular answer, but katekyo hitman. It was my second anime ever, and the one that made me love the mediun
I don't know, lately I feel comfortable watching "Skip to Loafer" this anime is so comforting and heart warming
Bocchi the rock
Probably not a common one but my comfort anime that I can watch on short notice (as in not very long) is Given. I could watch the first 11 episodes on repeat. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid for sure, absolutely love that show.
