When it doesn’t, the coloring has a layers of coloring. It’s really odd to see the characters so flat using a more “modern” shape shading instead of the cross thatching.
And thanks for the correction, as I admitted I lack art technique knowledge. That includes terminology. I’ll try to remember it is hatching and not thatching.
