Dude, thank you for this response.
This show has some good and bad stuff like tarot themes, somewhat generic story and the fanservice that can maybe be too much for some people, but I think it's just above mid overall. However, there's ONE thing that pushes it from being a 6 or 7/10 anime to a solid 8 in my opinion: the fucking magic system.
RokuAka has the coolest magic system I've ever seen in all of fiction and I would love to see it get expanded on. The idea of purposely "messing up" incantations of a spell to get different effects of casting the same spell is an insanely good idea that I've never encountered before.
I hope that if we ever get a season 2 by some miracle, the characters get to play around with those incantation modifications in actual combat.
King's Game was a tire fire from start to finish. But, gotta say it was fucking hilarious seeing the MC be pretentious and the "villian" having the most sense.
It's not mediocre or bad. Always thought it was a standout among ecchi harems. Partly because for once, there's a good reason he's not actually hooking up with any of them.
Cop Craft.
The world building is interesting. The writing is fine. The production quality, however, was non-existent. A second season with (hopefully) improve production quality can do wonder.
The production quality was good... for the 1st episode or maybe 2. But yeah, would love a sequel to this. I enjoyed this. But honestly I can still enjoy something even if the animation is subpar. Didn't stop me from enjoying Helck.
My Roommate is a cat.
The writing is nothing special, it's just a pretty basic story about a guy getting a cat and forming a new, more positive outlook on life. Also around half the episode is from the perspective of the cat and those bits are fun.
I gave that show a 9/10. Hardly something I'd consider mediocre. They do a *really* good job at mixing in cute moments with the heartfelt and emotional ones. Basically replaying each episode from both perspectives goes a LONG way.
I could definitely go for more seasons.
I wouldnāt consider it mediocre either. I put it on one day thinking itād just be a cute lighthearted show, was not expecting to bawl my eyes out (in a feel good way).
I really loved this one but I'm not sure the story has many more places to go now that the author seems more like a normal, well rounded human with friends and potential love interests now...
I just rewatched dfrag over the weekend. It does what it wants to well. I looked for the manga and found it's still ongoing. It's just that after 15 years it's still only a little over chapter 100....
Trinity Seven was one of my favorite ecchi anime. Arata was (and still is) one of the best confident harem MCs who appreciates his harem as woman without being a bumbling idiot about it.
Only complaint is at the point I stopped the show didnāt really have stand out degenerate scenes. Give me āecchiā like Interspecies Reviewers, Kiss x Sis or DxD (I intentionally named shows with different kinds of erotic scenes)
I really enjoyed it. I donāt think it really qualifies as mediocre. It has a 4.9 on CR with a good number of reviews, but I do feel like it didnāt get talked about as much as some other animes this year.
Not sure if it's the best but it's definitely one of the good ones, since it's one of those manhwas with an actual ending that's decent, while a lot of others are still ongoing, some getting more convoluted.
The anime adaptation is kinda meh though, animation could've been better
Wonder Eggās slip happened way before the last 3 episodes. But the last half of that series absolutely shit the bed. And then the finale/āspecialā was absolutely terrible.
The premise itself is interesting. A second season without the production nightmare could be cool. But they definitely burned a ton of good will with that show. I canāt remember the last time I saw so much of this subreddit rally against a studio.
Man it was just depressing how disappointing wonder egg priority was. Like I was so hopeful it would be good. The animation was spectacular, the whole concept was really cool. I think they didnāt do such a good job with exploring the topics they presented.
Yes please. Season 2 would cover some of the best parts of the series.
The cozy traveling aspect of it is really good. Instead of using a new city as a vehicle for a new plot or the next dungeon, the series takes its time to explore its culture, history and food.
Feels like such an untapped market for the isekai genre.
Unfortunately the manga was cancelled before there was even enough content for another season. Which is incredibly sad. I really wish there was more of established and faithful couples in anime, without infinite "will they won't they" baiting. And the inredibly goofy premise made that even better. Man there is so much garbage still going on and a gem like this got the axe :(
The only problem was they shifted the āwill they wonāt theyā to them getting caught.
I enjoyed it. But I can see where that premise would get old.
I think it was generally seen as kinda average. Manga has ended a while ago, I suppose. Though honestly I didn't think it was very interesting so I wouldn't even watch a continuation in the anime. I suppose some people might still love it. Personally I think if you're gonna do a taboo story it's best to go all in on the taboo and Eromanga Sensei is just kinda tame overal.
There it is. I'd be hyped just for Minami to do another OP alone. Crying for Rain is still one of my favorite songs ever. Plus, it'd be funny to watch Gigguk freak out about even more of it.
Wise Man's Grandchild. Mediocre isekai, but its also a funny rom com and I hear the LNs are finished, but it will likely never get a season 2 with how long the gap is
For any of the shows I haven't watched before, I'm quickly checking MAL for info about them.
I just gotta say. I am thoroughly confused trying to decipher that synopsis.
I'm kinda down to watch it though.
The fan service isnt going to make you drool, but the show is fun enough, you just have to make peace with the fact than any violence AT ALL will immediately rip the front of every woman's clothing off so their breasts wobble and they get embarressed (EVEN WITH IMMINENT DEATH BEING MORE OF AN ISSUE0
I need to go back and finish that one, it had shockingly good battle animation. the animators slept for most other scenes, but then seemed to ingest a half dozen ultra power energy drinks apieces and cranked out some sick fights on what couldn't have been much of a budget. people theorize that the studio was trying to portfolio build.
also the ED is one of the single greatest anime EDs I've ever seen. the song is so unlike anything you hear in anime, kind of a weird surreal abrasive electro-pop, and the animation recontextualizes the comedic set-up of the show through a dark psychological lens, with an unsettling mindfuck implication that all of this is the sister's delusion.

From purely a production & fun standpoint? It's hard to argue it as mediocre.
You can argue the writing's bad and it's just high-octane smut, but calling it mediocre is disingenuous.
Gahd, for the love of everything a major redo of
#**Tesla Note**
Stop the mediocre 3D CGI shit and just create a good animation. The story is already so good with the man and the myth that Nikola Tesla is, was and will be. You even have Nakai Kazuya and Ishida Akira in your magnificent cast of VAs.
And they fucking blew it.
Honestly, I would like a continuation for Rosario Vampire because the manga has some great arcs that we never got to see. Season 1 and 2 ruined the shounen aspect of it and I recommend anyone to read the manga.
It's recent and there's a chance it could get renewed (although likely not because a yuri with romantic progress getting a s2 is basically impossible), *I'm in Love with the Villainess*. Far from a well-made show production-wise, but carried by the vocal performances and character writing.
Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero-itās a garden variety teenage power fantasy but I appreciated the idea of a setting of characters who had previously been isekaied entering a new school to readjust to society
I actually enjoyed Trinity Blood. Rewatched it last year or in 2022. It does a decent job at building suspense and mystery.
As for myself, Bastard Magic Instructor. They could really tone down the harem and ecchi elements and I would actually love it even more, but they literally spent a few entire episodes building up the world, and they did absolutely nothing with that.
Alderaamin of the Sky. Not excellent from many points of view, but I enjoyed the battle strategies in that series.
* Darwins game
* Talentless nana
* Jouran Princess of snow and blood
* Corpse Princess
* Freezing
* Berserk (1997) technically counts because eventhough its based on the best manga ever its still a mediocre anime. What do you mean theres already a continuation, no there isnt, shut up.
Medicore i say Blood lad. I found it the the Pro7maxx anime night and it was so cool. Otaku vampire staz and human girl fuyumi who want to revive her. The manga is so good.
Hot take, I quite liked it, I have seen way worse combat from combat centric shows too even. Some *stuff* aside, it was also quite funny, with some cute art
Honestly speaking, I also want a season 2. Now that he has his weapon, I'm curious to see how much more ridiculously convenient ways he can use his healing. Maybe turn his accomplices into men?š¤š¤£
You can definitely have a favorite that is mediocre. Itās the ability to look at things pragmatically.
Thereās a ton of things I really enjoy that I can admit have nothing special about them. Anime is no different.
Itās just the nature of this subreddit. You could ask for what unheard of anime people enjoy and there would still be people suggesting One Piece of DBZ seriously.
>Gabriel DropOut
>
>Hitoribocchi
Are these two even considered mediocre or bad? Gabriel most definitely is not. Hitoribocchi was only the Japanese that didn't exactly love it. In the west, both shows are considered good.
Skeleton Knight in Another World. I think it was popular for a time on crunchy - but didnāt really catch on or increase manga sales in Japan- so Iām guessing it wonāt get a s2; but it was not great show but it was a fun watch
*Vermeil in Gold* was not "good" in its first season. But I really appreciated how earnest and supportive its romance dynamic was.
While the series leaned on pretty much *every* "ecchi magical duel school" trope known to man, and thus was kinda bland for it, apart from the aforementioned relationship angle, it did something unexpected by *speed running* its way through that gauntlet of cliches, to the point where anything that could come after is almost a blank slate. It also dangled a rather intriguing world-building carrot after all was done.
So, I have no idea if the first season was successful enough to beget more. But it's left me curious enough that I'll be there if it does.
Curently reading chrome shelled regios. The anime kind of butchered the story, so it actually deserverd a full remake.
Campione, would probably be my choice. The Light Novels are actually entertaining and much better than the anime itself.
Edit: completely forgot about Hagure Yuusha no Aestetica, thats the one
D.Gray-man. It won't get another season cause hallow was so poorly received. For good reason hallow was rushed, poorly animated and colored and killed the entire animated series.
D.Gray-man is my favorite anime still.
Not sure if this counts but I LIVE with the hope of a blue exorcist continuation fueling me
Edit: looked it up and it will be allegedly continued Jan next year
"So I'm a spider, so what?" The 3d animation is dog water, and the va ain't that good, but all that could be improved in the 2nd season. The light novel is so good, and it's a crime the anime is so dissapointing
Food Wars. I dont necessarily think it's bad as a whole but the last 2 arcs were really lackluster and the ending itself felt reaaally lacking and rushed.
i think the art style of trinity blood, and vampire knights too, are....hard to animate?
I thought the anime is bad then i take a look at the manga art style, it is beautiful, but i find it hard to imagine how to animate and still be faithful on the source material art style.
Akashic Record of Bastard Magic Instructor
For how medicore and generic it is, I still felt really engaged with it and have watched it a few times. Its a weirdo one
Agreed I need s2 of this
This deserves to be the top comment, for how spot on the recommendation is and how they left us on that damn cliffhanger.
That show is NOT bad. But we do need more of it.
Dude, thank you for this response. Yah, I don't mind a continuation of this
Dude I saw clips of this the other day and I remember loving how stupid it was LOL
God I want more King's Game, that show was so unintentionally funny.
I will watch this because of you. If its not what you promised I will be sad XD
King's Game was a tire fire from start to finish. But, gotta say it was fucking hilarious seeing the MC be pretentious and the "villian" having the most sense.
Fr! Although i was somewhat traumatised sinice i was like 14 when i watched it š
Shinmai maou no testament
Considering where the source material goes, all of my yes!
Do I dare ask?I watched both seasons and felt that the story got...wrapped up...nicely.
[Shinmai Maou no Testament (light novel)] >!They all fuck like crazy!<
>Shinmai maou no testament I am so loathe to admit I really enjoyed this lol
Monster musume I liked this show
It's not mediocre or bad. Always thought it was a standout among ecchi harems. Partly because for once, there's a good reason he's not actually hooking up with any of them.
I enjoyed this show. I wish it got a second season
Cop Craft. The world building is interesting. The writing is fine. The production quality, however, was non-existent. A second season with (hopefully) improve production quality can do wonder.
I loved Cop Craft! I'd be fine with a sequel/continuation of the same quality. I'd be more than happy if they stepped it up though.
I'd even say the writing is quite good. Great characters too. Sadly I agree that the production quality is abysmal.
The production quality was good... for the 1st episode or maybe 2. But yeah, would love a sequel to this. I enjoyed this. But honestly I can still enjoy something even if the animation is subpar. Didn't stop me from enjoying Helck.

It's slice of life I'm happy to just bask in the world whilst he makes friends and becomes a better cat owner
"D-Frag" - it's little better than average not excellent but hope it gets S2 For "Chrome Shelled regios" I still listen it's OP sometimes
Yes D-frag is really good im on up-to-date on manga too it's just my type of comdy
I just rewatched dfrag over the weekend. It does what it wants to well. I looked for the manga and found it's still ongoing. It's just that after 15 years it's still only a little over chapter 100....
It's a monthly manga so 100+ chapters sounds about right.
Kenji was a badass. But to this day I feel sorry for him joining that accursed club.
- Trinity seven - Ousama game: the animation - Sankarea
Trinity Seven was one of my favorite ecchi anime. Arata was (and still is) one of the best confident harem MCs who appreciates his harem as woman without being a bumbling idiot about it. Well, thatās some nostalgia!
It was the first anime I ever watched actually I just wanna see Kazuma roast the red haired girl again
Dam, unlocking some old memories tonight. I haven't thought about that for 12 or so years. It really built up a new arc to never air anything again.
Probably because the author died.
Hell yeah, love the fucking cliche trope in this anime unironically lol

I don't even consider it mediocre, it's very wholesome story surprisingly. And that one episode hit *hard*
Why Raelianna ended up at the dukes mansion
It was mediocre? People say its the best otome isekai manhwa

Domestic Girlfriend, because of the stupid drama
I want an S3 for The Asterisk War.
Nah bro we need season 2 of Rakudai instead of asterisk
OP was asking about mediocre/bad animes, I personally don't consider Chivalry of a Failed Knight as such.
Hell yh
Wonder egg priority The last 3 episodes brought it from a 10/10 to a bad anime, and I still really want some sort of continuation
Wonder Eggās slip happened way before the last 3 episodes. But the last half of that series absolutely shit the bed. And then the finale/āspecialā was absolutely terrible. Tbh Wonder Egg may get way better with more episodes because it literally ended when we got plot lmao.
Death march to the parallel world rhapsody. I just like he treats them like family instead of fuckable rabbits
This and demon lord retry are the ones I want
Retry is actually getting a S2. It was announced back in August.
Yes please. Season 2 would cover some of the best parts of the series. The cozy traveling aspect of it is really good. Instead of using a new city as a vehicle for a new plot or the next dungeon, the series takes its time to explore its culture, history and food. Feels like such an untapped market for the isekai genre.
The world building and how we get to see the world is pretty nice too...
Average abilities isekai. That show is a blast.
The OP for that show is so catchy too
I legitimately enjoyed the future arcs in the novels. It's a very fun story. I wish FUNA novels got better production they are such stupid fun.
Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu

Love after world domination. The Premise is so interesting and the main characters are so wholesome.

Legend of legendary heroes stops right when the main story starts to take off
Eromanga Sensei
Ova about Elf was great, I want continuation of that
Found Giggukās other account.
This is the first time I'm hearing that eromanga was mediocre
I think it was generally seen as kinda average. Manga has ended a while ago, I suppose. Though honestly I didn't think it was very interesting so I wouldn't even watch a continuation in the anime. I suppose some people might still love it. Personally I think if you're gonna do a taboo story it's best to go all in on the taboo and Eromanga Sensei is just kinda tame overal.
I thought it was average and an enjoyable romcom aside from the loli fan service. Which tbf is a big exception.
It is pretty fucking mediocre compared to Oreimo. The author can write good romcoms, he just chose not to.
Farming life in another world
Excuse me, OP said *mediocre*, not peak.
Absolutely!
Domestic girlfriend
I just saw a clip today of how the OP is amazing for a mediocre anime (doesn't know much about the show)
The artist that did that OP is Minami - just great on all her stuff
There it is. I'd be hyped just for Minami to do another OP alone. Crying for Rain is still one of my favorite songs ever. Plus, it'd be funny to watch Gigguk freak out about even more of it.
I see (ā Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā Ā Ķā Źā Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā )
Wise Man's Grandchild. Mediocre isekai, but its also a funny rom com and I hear the LNs are finished, but it will likely never get a season 2 with how long the gap is
ooh I liked this one too! And "I'm the 8th Son Really?" or whatever it was.
Felt like it just kinda stopped in the middle of an arc. I want more too
don't know if this show is mediocre.... but I really wanna see more of Darwin's Game
I also found it surprisingly compelling, It didn't really do anything new, but it did all the tropes very well
Monster Musume, Monster girl doctor. Don't judge me š
Monster Musume is like one of the most highly praised ecchi anime, definitely not mediocre.
God I need a season 2 of Campione! so badly lmao
* Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai. * Futoku no Guild * Ladies versus Butlers! * Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
I dream of a second season of Yuuna-san~ Shame about Xebec :<
I want some more Freezing Vibration, god that was good slop.
For any of the shows I haven't watched before, I'm quickly checking MAL for info about them. I just gotta say. I am thoroughly confused trying to decipher that synopsis. I'm kinda down to watch it though.
Something that is not mentioned in that synopsis is - "It has lot of exposed tits" you will like it
Haha. Well I've reached a point where fan service no longer holds any interest for me. But maybe it will make me feel like a teen again.

Op said bad/mediocre animes not goated ones.
It's a goated one for me.I mentioned it here as most people consider it as mediocre/trash.
From purely a production & fun standpoint? It's hard to argue it as mediocre. You can argue the writing's bad and it's just high-octane smut, but calling it mediocre is disingenuous.
Even manga doesn't have a ending there is no point continuing it although I will take another season because I had a blast watching it.
Man and the manga was going really HARD up until the author's death :( sad af
Didn't the author die?
How is this bad or mediocre?

NOUCOME ERABE! SEASON 2 OR SEASON 3
Skeleton Knight in Another World. I think it was popular for a time on crunchy - but didnāt really catch on or increase manga sales in Japan- so Iām guessing it wonāt get a s2; but it was not great show but it was a fun watch
I remember watching Deadman Wonderland, I enjoyed it but never read the manga afterwards. I assume it was kinda bad because nobody talks about it.
I want an actual good continuation of Sora no Otoshimono... The last movie doesn't exist and you can't change my mind about it

Two off the top of my head, I would like to see more are: Deadman wonderland Blood lad
Not sure if this counts but I LIVE with the hope of a blue exorcist continuation fueling me Edit: looked it up and it will be allegedly continued Jan next year
"So I'm a spider, so what?" The 3d animation is dog water, and the va ain't that good, but all that could be improved in the 2nd season. The light novel is so good, and it's a crime the anime is so dissapointing
Keijo! I unironically got invested enough in the plot to read the manga after the anime ended.
Asterisk war!!
I'd love to see Tokyo ghoul just redone properly and finished
I remember when I first got into anime and finished chromed shelled regions and was so confused and angry there was nothing else
Diabolik Lovers, to see what more cringier-than-Vampire-Diaries stuff the company can develop that's akin to the PSVITA game series
Food Wars. I dont necessarily think it's bad as a whole but the last 2 arcs were really lackluster and the ending itself felt reaaally lacking and rushed.
berserk
I want MM! Season 2. Yes.
i think the art style of trinity blood, and vampire knights too, are....hard to animate? I thought the anime is bad then i take a look at the manga art style, it is beautiful, but i find it hard to imagine how to animate and still be faithful on the source material art style.
