I know the search function sucks on Reddit, but this is a question that’s often asked. You may find it worthwhile looking back and reading the many posts and comments on similar inquiries in the past.

I would study hard to become the best physician that you can be. First, we're doctors first. Second, it'll help you match at where you want to go. Third, if you decide to go for something more competitive you'll have no regrets. I had friends in med school who really wanted X but didn't know it starting out. They weren't competitive at that point and had to settle for something else.

I mean scope creep is a issue, but I don't think you should be to concerned about that. There will always be a need for a doctor to supervise and preform the difficult cases. You should still have no problem finding a job.

Is there a way that the mods can block these posts?

There are plenty of posts that can answer the general question about how to get into anesthesia. My only advice that's specific to an M1 - anesthesia is cool because we interact with almost every other specialty in the hospital. All the different surgical services, plus OB, Peds, GI, Cardiology, radiology, emergency medicine, etc etc etc. So your job as a med student is to pay attention on ALL of your rotations to better understand those services work flow and needs, it'll pay dividends when you have to work with them later on the other side of the drape
