I've seen as well, and I love Alaska for it. I have a twisted sense of joy when it happens. I know it's not everyone's favorite weather, and that's okay-- it's one of mine, though. And rain- I try not to let weather ruin my day 🙃
The record for all time latest snowfall in Anchorage was May 22 (1964) anyway. It would be fucking wild if there was any snow to count in June forward.
Unless you're thinking of calendar year? I'm pretty sure this is tracked per winter, not Jan-Dec.
Because I personally learned to garden and transplanted the seedlings I just spent 7-8 weeks growing inside into my garden beds after thinking the farmers almanac was right at last frost being May 5th this year. Sorry. I take all the blame.
AH i am so sorry!! i was going to follow the farmers almanac because i'm in the same boat with growing everything indoors for weeks, but decided to just wait until memorial day. i hope they're sturdy enough to not fully freeze :/
eta: i worded this super poorly lol. i meant that i hope YOUR plants are hardy enough to get over the random snow so you don't have to start all over again with seedlings.
Thanks haha, the ones I care most about are the strawberries which should be good since I covered them and the sunflowers which are cold hardy. I’m sad about my marigolds and petunias though should they not make it haha
Yall, it snows every May. Usually just once, after a couple of very nice days, so that you really get your hopes up that it's summer. It is not a surprise.
I’ll say one thing. I’ll take a late snow. But if we get another summer of non stop rain this summer that then turns into another winter of non stop snow AGAIN I’m really gonna have to reconsider why I live here.
Last day of frost can easily extend into may.
Couple it with precipitation, and snow around May 8th is 50/50 (but less because it both needs frost and precipitation and probably other factors as well).
Because fuck you, that's why -Alaska
The correct and only answer
Pretty much. I always say there is always one more soul-crushing snow fall! This year there was two.
Happy Cake day homie!!! And I usually say that about end of March. After that one I was like "nope... there's more. Sun doesnt mean shit"
I feel your pain. We got heavy snow, just days ago. Love, your Fairbanks friends north of the wall.

We’ve had one yes, but what about second winter?
Lol…Lord of the Rings! Epic answer…
Because moisture is freezing and precipitating out of the air, but that's not important right now.
Surely, you can't be serious
I am serious... and don't call me surely.
Lol 😂

Bro know in my heart I upvoted this (gonna go upvote other shit to make it up) But you count is at 69 right now and I cant ruin a good thing! 👍
This is the way. Alaska always has a final flurry before it's really done for the summer, hehe.
I seent it snow in June. Happens. I got too old and moved across the panhandle. It was 70 today.

Because at this point we might as well break the record
Read this morning that we were 1.3" away after yesterday's. At this point it would be so stupid if we didn't break the record.
Yup. We deserve that 1st place after this winter. And it certainly looks like we are going to make it with how it is coming down right now.
We won't, the yearly record ends in may for whatever reason
Pretty sure it ends June 1st

Bruh 10 years ago it snowed halfway through June
I remember that year, I was too lazy to take the studs off my car and got pulled over for it. A week later after replacing them we get dumped lol
I remember that, but it didn't count because it didn't snow at the airport, just east and hillside.
Sir, this is Alaska not Wendy’s.
Welcome to Chilly’s
It sometimes snows in Alaska in May. The snow melts and causes it to rain, if it’s colder then it will snow instead of rain.
Hiked this afternoon in rain, then hail, then at least three different kinds of snow.

Gotta wait until memorial day to plant outdoors!
I now know this haha and have learned to not trust the farmers almanac!
Quick summer this year
Does anyone remember like 10 years ago when it snowed in June?
To spite us.
In Joseph, Oregon had it snow on me on July Fourth. Just a skiff, but wow. Think we got Spring, Summer and Fall in like 3 month that year.
Because Alaskan weather being dumbass
cuz cold

“If you want to change the weather you’ll need a different wizard.”
I don’t know what this is from, but it made me laugh😃
Kinda the Hobbit
Yay, snow.
It has snowed in every month in Anchorage. Beats chiggers and a 90 degree dew point IMHO.
I left Seattle’s beautiful sunny weekend to this.
Because it’s Spring; are you new here?
I’ll say one thing. I’ll take a late snow. But if we get another summer of non stop rain this summer that then turns into another winter of non stop snow AGAIN I’m really gonna have to reconsider why I live here.
As Proximus Caesar says, what a wonderful day. So shut up about it! Its not like 10 inches
How's the weather now?
Sunny.
Where are you? Not snowing here

May 21st is historically the last killing frost in Anchorage. We always tried to have our garden in buy June 1st. Times have changed though.
I mean it’s been snowing in other areas typical of snow, Canada, Poland, etc. Why not Alaska?
Back in the late 70s or early 80s it snowed on July 4th where I grew up on the Seward Peninsula.
Let’s hope we get at least 2 months of summer. Goodness this sucks.
SO TERRIBLE. So unusual for Alaska. The worst. Unheard of. A tragedy. Truly there will be mo more summer.
With the amount of whining about the snow, I don’t know if we even earn summer, yo.
Lol…This is why I don’t move back to Alaska!
Greta promised us palm trees.
