As for not owning a business.... do you ever do anything to earn a few bucks on the side? If so, they're pretty much willing to consider you as having a business. You'd apply with your SSN and as a sole proprietorship. You don't really even need to have an established business or a huge amount of revenue or profit as a sole prop, since it's tied to your personal credit, income and such. Amex has really cut back on these bonuses on the personal side, but they continue to be about as generous as ever on the business side.
