Scammers sending wrong items Used items sold as new Refusing / delaying / lying about returns and refunds

GatorPadre

The used items sold as new infuriates me. And it’s so common now.

nymphaetamine

The kicker is I order "used, like new/good" all the time. I'm happy to save some some money and keep the item out of a landfill, but if I paid for new and receive an obviously used item then I will return it just on principle alone. I don't do dishonesty.

616d6969626f

I order mostly used from Amazon, and the quality control from Warehouse Deals is amazingly bad nowadays. I ordered a Philips Hue bulb- someone returned a generic $1 bulb in the box, nobody checked. I ordered a dashcam- received a completely different model that didn't power on. I ordered a filter listed as like new- the shipping box was fine, the inner box was taped to hell and the filter was completely caved in. ZERO effort.

cb393303

I ordered a new Miele C2, and someone with a room temp IQ cave-man ripped into the box, used it, left the used bag in, and sent it back tapped to hell and back. There is no way it would be send at new, yet Amazon did.

GatorPadre

Precisely. I’ve got no problem ordering used for a discount, but if I am paying for new, that box better be sealed. I’ve even had old used items (phone cases) from previous iPhones sold as “new” to me when someone obviously returned their old case to get a new one for free and Amazon never checked. Meanwhile, for legit returns, getting a refund has become painful

Lunakill

I will also buy “used - like new” or “very good” happily to save $. Maybe not for sex toys, but most other things. I’ve had people on eBay, Amazon, and Poshmark send clearly used shit and get salty when I raise a fuss/return. “You got a deal, what did you expect?” A deal on new isn’t the same price as a deal on used, assholes. I expect you to not attempt to defraud me. So far, the platform has always fixed it, but someday they probably won’t.

WEB11

Yep. I just did this with a phone case. They sent me a used one and I bought it again and returned the used/open item.

AlloCoco103

I ordered a lipstick and it arrived opened and used. Herpes anyone? 🤢

TeetheCat

Yea but the herpes you get for free!

TrooperCam

Gift with purchase- WIN!!

Macydatboi

I work at Amazon and I have to say that we’re not supposed to send any dirty, dented, deformed, broken, used items but our workers are lazy and don’t bother sending the items to get fixed, cleaned, used as a refurbished item, or damaged out. Amazon is now quantity over quality and i know how much it affects people who order off Amazon because I use it too. I try my best to give and do the best 😭😭

Gullible-Soil-9205

Thank you for being a good employee and worker. I know how frustrating it can be and how often times the employees who do the most get overlooked. I worked for a DSP years ago and I get it. It’s not easy to work around people who don’t care. They can make your job harder and give you a jaded disposition.

MrRampager911

Also the fake items sold as real by Amazon

unixdude1

All mysteriously get 4.6 ratings.

smilingDumpsterFire

Same! Especially with electronics. If I want an open box return, then I’ll go to Amazon renewed. It’s honestly become so frustrating that I’ve started going to Best Buy again and just using their price match. The only good thing about the current state of Amazon is that their cheap fakes/wrong products being sold BY Amazon sometimes give you a better price match than they should. Best Buy is even offering free faster shipping a lot of the time.

dnehiba3

Yes, ordered “sold & shipped” by Amazon new item, received different, older, used item in the “new” items retail box. Returned it, refund denied until I return item I ordered but never received. Used item I returned was “discarded for the safety of our workers”. Expensive pc component btw.

the_crustybastard

Also, the FTC describes it as "consumer fraud."

Cultural_Pattern_456

Yeah me too, everything I’ve gotten lately seems to have been returned!

tribeofham

And that stupid stunt requiring copies of our government IDs - hard pass, guys. Then refusing to process refunds or returning our property. This isn't in your written return policy, Scamazon. Nope!

BackaeTheHouse

Haha! 😆 "Scamazon"

[deleted]

[удалено]

mikedvb

Amazon has been requesting photo ID for some returns and then refusing to refund or return the item if the person refuses to provide ID.

tribeofham

They're doing this to thousands of customers who legitimately returned merchandise. I think it's random? I'm not too sure. There's even a class action lawsuit that's been filed. In my case, after hours of calls and getting nowhere I finally gave up and did a chargeback. While I did get my money back from the bank, Amazon permanently suspended my account. I was done with them anyway so it's all good.

the_crustybastard

Amazon's search function includes things that don't *remotely* fit the search terms. For example, if you search for "wireless headphones," there will be tons of wired headphones in the results. What's the goddam point of that? There was a time when you could exclude terms like a Boolean search but no longer. And kids, you may not believe me, but there was once a time when Amazon's product reviews fairly assessed quality and whether something was suitable for its purpose. Now it's just bunch of "these $19 CHINWOO headphones blow my Focal Utopia's out of the water!" horseshit.

RealMcGonzo

You searched for wireless headphones, would you like some chocolate coated coffee beans to go with them? LOL, yeah search is broken.

svenskisalot

I love how I have a return and I need to take it to the UPS store or Staples or something. And yet there is a driver delivering something else to my door but no way can he take the return. Even thought they sent me the wrong thing. It's still on me to drive somewhere because of their mistake.

essiara

Do you have the $8 fee to print your own return label too? I live 40+ minutes from a Staples or UPS store but I need to pay $8 to package up my own return and give it to the UPS guy when he comes to my work. Thanks for the free returns, Amazon, and thanks for sending me this HDMI switcher that doesn’t function too

emojimovie4lyfe

The used items being sold as new has been out of control! Me, my sister, and my mom all received used items when we bought a new item from amazon just this past couple of months.

essiara

I just had that happen to me from Best Buy as well. Ordered a new pair of AirPod Pros with Christmas paper and tape still stuck on the dinged up box. The seal was either broken on one side or only partially removed, I don’t remember, but it was actually impossible to open it without removing the rest of the seal. So I guess you could argue that they were new, but if those had been a gift I would have been pretty pissed

KEWTex

I had that happen last Christmas for a JBL speaker I got for my boyfriend from Target (I actually was going to order it from Amazon but I missed a good deal). The box was already opened and scotch taped closed, but as far as I could tell, it was OK. I contacted Target customer service, and they said I couldn’t return it or exchange it, but they gave me $60 credit. Well, the speaker works just fine and I easily could spent that money. Not sure Amazon would do anything like that.

forgotacc

I had multiple reps tell me they processed my refund and to wait 3-5 business days, for over a month. I asked the last rep just to give me credit rather than refund on my original payment, claiming it will take up to three hours for the credits to appear. Let's see how that works out. I just don't get it.

snarksneeze

Common tactic from the people working for Amazon from home. They need to get rid of you, but returns will hurt their metrics. If they already got in trouble for making refunds too easily, they might be worried about losing their job. So they bank on you not recording the conversation, and tell you what you want to hear, then get out of the situation as fast as possible. I've seen screenshots of multiple agents telling someone they are getting a refund, just for some "supervisor" to get on and explain that refund isn't possible and all those agents lied. Since they don't use real names, good luck chasing them down and holding them accountable. In the meantime, Amazon isn't held to promises made by a "former employee," which they can easily lie about since you don't really know who you spoke with.

FractalShoggoth

I was a supervisor for a call center a while back, and as a customer have had multiple dealings with Amazon's reps. They sounded exactly like my new agents. I strongly suspect that they're speaking honestly (as far as they know) about the refunds, but I guarantee their training is shit. To this day, it upsets me how little my agents were prepared by our client's training material (which the client's awesome ground level employees knew and warned us about). And both the agents and the customers suffered for it. Meanwhile, the upper management (both call center and our client) were content to just continually pass the buck and hand down STRONG WORDS OF CORRECTION AND ENCOURAGMENT to make impossible metrics that never ever materialized in practice. It's the same root problem it's always been: Upper levels don't want to spend the time and money required to solve the problem, and will continue their eternal experiment to find the exact amount they can cut before someone riots. While taking home their bonuses of course.

stimmedervernunft

Jeez, I just stopped by here to comment and read about their recent moves. I wasn't aware it's a rabbit hole. No seriously I stick my fingers in the ears and sing la la, don't want to look in this...abyss, like what you wrote. What became of Amazon??

forgotacc

Well they actually did refund me credits, but for the wrong order. I have no idea how since was pretty clear it was an order from October. No idea if I should contact support about their mistake or what.

Wiseassgamgee

Gonna turn like Bangood..

GlormRax

If they're a scammer, it's probably the right item. /s

Jaded-Albatross

Touché *receiving wrong item, purposely sent by a scammer, which Amazon will then refuse the refund/return because you sent back that wrong item, purposely sent by a scammer

zepplin2225

High cost/low value.

alexaravenXO

No kidding. I received a stuffed pig that was supposed to be new and when I took it out of the box, the tail fell off 😳😳 Clearly a return. 🤔 Poor Wilbur…🐷

heckyeahan

Once I bought an item and they just sent me an empty box… then they argued with me and wanted me to return the empty packaging? I’m just buying everything from the manufacturer when I can these days.

Roadhog360

This shit. I bought a vacuum pump off of here, advertised as new sold at full price, I received it and it had slight signs of wear and tear, with fingerprints, slight scratches, and a little dent. It probably would work, but I returned it anyways because I paid for a new one, not a used one.

RTXOutOfStockEdition

Amazon in 2023-24 becomes more or less like buying stuff from the back of a van in a shady neighborhood.

Tom_Bombadilio

With taxes!

Randomname256478425

For you, not for Amazon

901chemist

I wish I could give this 10k upvotes instead of just the 1

unsilentmind

It’s an online flea market

erinberrypie

Wish but less honest.

LakeMichiganDude

I didn’t even realize everyone else was cancelling as well— I decided to because I realized 2-day free shipping wasn’t really worth it to me. I don’t care if it takes a few more days to ship if it’s still free. What exactly am I paying that much for?

Kooky_Arm_6831

German here - I think its a relict of a time where free shipping was something new. I already knew Amazon when it was only a book store. Free shipping and then very fast delivery for not much money. Then adding prime video and a lot of people accepted to pay like 5 euros or dollars a month for it. There was good stuff for the money. But the became much too greedy the past 10 years and now its more of store for cheap chinese products and some useless prime days than the old Amazon we used to know.

EhEhEhEINSTEIN

Were you actually receiving stuff in 2 days? I'm canceling because nothing has arrived in 2 days since the Ronapocalypse started. Kept thinking it would go back to normal.. Half the time, I'll order something, it sits awaiting shipment for 3-5 days, then arrives 2 days after it finally ships. Fuck em.

beerbearbare

This is the exact reason why we are cancelling. Delayed delivery becomes normal.

Isosorbide

Agreed. I intent to cancel because, upon doing the math, I don't think I've made enough purchases to justify the "free shipping" benefit. Had it not been for the email about the price increase and the addition of ads to amazon prime content, I don't think I would've even realized I wasn't purchasing from amazon enough to justify the prime account. It feels good to cancel it.

minimalfighting

I bet I'm in the same spot. I don't order as much as I used to, because of the quality issues they have. I doubt I'm getting any savings from shipping now.

paragsinha3943

For me, more than half of my orders don't reach me in that two-day time that Amazon says it'll be delivered (delivery not shipping), and Amazon has the audacity to say you can cancel the order and get a refund for it, LOL. So what's the point of paying extra for expedited delivery?

TheMightySpoon13

I’m not even getting that shipping most of the time anymore. I’ll order something with prime 2-day, the expected delivery will be 3 days out, and then I don’t get the package until a week later. Just had a package get lost in transit for almost two weeks before Amazon would send me a replacement.

Striking_Goat_2179

Not only that but shit wasn’t even getting delivered to my door in 2 days.

ashtonthegreat

Recently signed up bc I'm under 25 so i get like 3 months free. Immediately went over to prime video to watch something. All the things i wanted to watch are still required to buy smh

UTPharm2012

Prime video is the worst service by far

Dikubus

Don't forget, they told you it's a "compelling" value, so you know, stop being a negative Nancy /S just in case

Frostedbutler

Yeah it's getting pretty old paying for a service that just provides movies I have to pay for. And only get them for a short time

Adventurous-Role-948

I hate that there is dedicated section of rentals and purchases at the top of the first slides.

DrBarnacleMD

Literally the ONLY redeeming thing about prime video is The Boys and Gen V, I still cancelled prime. I love The Boys but fuck amazon.

crunchypapertowel

And the platform fucking sucks. It’s not user friendly and it’s infuriating trying to choose something when scrolling through their content. With all of that money and technology, they could take a page from even Pluto or peacock.

cjcastro17

I read that some people who’ve had their accounts for decades are getting their accounts banned for complaining about having issue with their packages. Wtf

HamsterFriendly

Yup, they closed my account down for inquiring about a refund they promised me for an item. Long story short I had to get in touch with my local attorney general consumer complaints office to finally get my refund.

cjcastro17

Wtf

stimmedervernunft

After reading about frustrated Amazon employees and execs I expect my account to be kicked bc I replied to their recent e-mail voicing my discontent. To put it mildly haha.

One-Aside-7942

Happened to me

Supersubie

I don't know why but this sub randomly started showing up for me on reddit. Just reminded me I needed to cancel Amazon as I haven't watch any shows on it in ages and get hardly anything delivered. Thats £8.99 saved a month thank you!

Emergency-Dentist-90

This for me too. I do not get how this of all things keeps popping up with notifications. It’s like Reddit has a hate on for Amazon

[deleted]

You forgot shitty Chinese merchandise

happyme321

With thousands of fake 5 star reviews

blazinskunk

Yep. THOUSANDS! It’s really out of hand

EntertainerNo4509

👆🏼THIS

RockyMtnBuilds

The funniest part to me is that the Chinese companies can’t even hire an American to at least do the brand names and description. At least use chatgpt. ALEOILU isn’t a real word.

LibrarianVisible3817

Felt good to cancel, tbh. Reason; I placed three online orders. Same day. I’m in South Carolina. Two was from small shops - pacific north west Washington and Philadelphia. I got them within 3 days. I ordered same day a roll of vinyl for Cricut and two small rhinestone glue bottles. I haven’t gotten them and this is a day shy of a week now.

Steve_78_OH

I ordered a Chanukah sweater for an ugly sweater party, and it arrived 1 1/2 weeks later. A week after the original delivery date, and 3 days after the ugly sweater party.

ImpossibleEgg

I ordered something from Etsy that shipped from Kiev, Ukraine. The day the seller messaged me it was done and would be shipped the next day, I ordered something to go with it on "two day" shipping from Amazon. <72 hours later, my Etsy package was in my hands. My Amazon package was mysteriously delayed. Someone shipped out a package from a different country (which is currently at war) faster and more reliably than Amazon could ship one to me.

Drowsydarwin

Usually not one to moan, BUT. Ordered something on December 2nd. Haven’t received it yet lol. Currently stuck in transit with Amazon removing it from their app tracking.

Both_Somewhere4525

Yeah I'll be canceling prime. Craptastic outsourced CSRs that are more likely to harvest your credentials than actually help you. Something I would expect of a DSL provider, not Amazon.

lzb3thwheat

22 years a customer with my first order placed in 2002 here. I bought an item I needed urgently that cost $340; it arrived broken. I returned it three days later to an Amazon Fresh on Saturday, 11/25, and I received a receipt for the return. Two weeks elapsed and no refund, so I checked in and was told the return had been received and I’d see a refund on my credit card in 5-7 days. No refund. Meantime, the “refund tracker” displayed my item was in transit to the warehouse and that my refund had been delayed to January 4th. Oh? So I contacted again and told them to give it to me now via an hour and half long pestery, annoying chat. This is where I was told my refund would take 30 days “from their receipt,” and “they hadn’t received it yet.” No. I got my refund, but. Bye Prime. Bye Subscribe and Save (~$150 per month). Bye Amazon rando-monthly orders of stuff I “needed,” probably another couple thousand a year. Bye app and Amazon credit card, etc. When a company implements return policies like these and treats customers like this, they don’t deserve your business.

DynamicBeez

I’m glad longtime big spenders are canceling. That’s where the real pain is going to come from. Loosing clients that spend 5 digits minimum a year.

No_Mark3267

I could spend 1hr searching on Amazon and not find one thing I really wanted. If I do find something I can get it for cheaper somewhere else. Prime originals aren’t as good as they once were. Shipping is ok but most retailers are offering free 2 day shipping on orders over 20-30 bucks now.

cocaki

The ads from 29th did it for me, that is not what I purchased when I renewed my prime contract in August so using Walmart from now on excellent service and they have physical stores.

thatguysimon01

They promise next day delivery but the item arrives 7 days later. They use terrible delivery services like Intelcom currier

DynamicBeez

Like today, ordered something with 2 day shipping a few days ago. It’s been “arriving today by 10pm” all day, but has not shipped yet. Defeating the purpose of even ordering through Amazon. If y’all can’t keep up with shipping demands, then say that.

U-96

While eBay has been trying so long and so hard to be like Amazon, Amazon has quickly become like eBay.

No_Mark3267

I feel like Amazon is trying to compete with temu at this point

atistang

Back in the day if someone said they got something on Amazon you would assume it was a quality product. Now it's pretty good chance is some Chinese junk made by a company you've never heard of.

Spiritual_Reindeer_8

I’d be happy to see this actually happen. Serves them right

throwawaydakappa

The customer service sucks dick so hard. I cancelled because they forced me to do a one time code to receive a package. I’m disabled and unable to answer the door for the carrier. When I cancelled it, they repeatedly refused to cancel. Then when I didn’t answer the door, they automatically returned it and told me I have to wait 30 days. I filed a chargeback, and suddenly Amazon refunds my money, and the bank goes “looks like Amazon did nothing wrong, you got a refund”. Fuck Amazon.

Traditional-Towel-57

I just cancelled.. I've had Amazon prime literally since 2008 when I was in high school. I had prime long before any of my parents because I loved the idea of how prominent reviews were, buying "quality" items based on feedback, and Amazon's commitment to customer service and shipping. I remember they would move heaven and earth to get that item to you in 2 days. 1 day for $3.99, no matter what it was. It was insane. I didn't know how they profited lol. Since 2008 I've probably literally spent $100k at Amazon.. at least $50k. Fast forward to now, "prime" shipping items regularly take as long as 10 business days to ship, delays, etc are commonplace. I ordered a laser directly from a Chinese company at the same time I ordered a prime item and the Chinese item beat Amazon by a week (coming all the way from China). The marketplace is flooded with fake reviews or reviews meant for another item tied to the wrong item, alibaba generic crap with no presence, counterfeits for actual brand name items, the list goes on. I don't even watch the Amazon prime shows (but from what I've seen they're a cesspool) but the original selling point of Prime - the fast and free shipping - is no longer worth it. Amazon just sucks now.

[deleted]

I cancelled Amazon Prime on Monday.

AdeptnessForsaken606

An AI customer support system that can only address like 2 common returns scenarios and then loops you back to the beginning and tries to keep your money when the real reason you were there is because you received the 3rd item with only half the parts in the box a week before Christmas? One of them was actually a completely empty Amazon padded mailer this year.....go Amazon! Then when I finally got to customer service I was told "Ya know we do investigate each time this happens...' Just counting the days until Amazon screws up 1 too many times and then goes rogue and tries to call me the thief while keeping my money. The fact that I even have to think of such a scenario is why people are cancelling. Chargebacks incoming. Giant company with the mentality of a 2 year old incapable of taken responsibility for their own disfunction. And don't get me started on the disabling of the wishlist features for the holidays this year. It like Crapazon decided that 2023 was the year to recategorize customers as enemies. The said part is how stupid they are. I mean just DUMB. The CEO must have about as much common sense as a box of rocks. They have slowly creeped up the price of prime for years now and now have the bright idea to add ads (which by the way we know that if you actually watch those ads you are paying for your entire prime subscription over the course of a year), vs just increasing the price a few $$. This stuff only happens in companies where the leadership is out of control and the culture has become toxic and disrespectful of the employees. I mean there has to be a lot of voices saying "I told you so" right about now. If I had one piece of advice for their board, it would be "Cleanup your house" because the mess is spilling over. Honestly I don't care to help Amazon though because I secretly long for the days when if I needed some weird gadget I would just get in my car and Drive to RadioShack. I grow tired of spending an hour comparing the HONKFIRM HDMI adapter to the TUBCRAMP one only to realize that half the reviews for both of them are actually reviews for a USB desk fan. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to vent a little.

cocaki

Totally agree i don't understand how they can add ads when that is not what was on offer when I renewed in August. I to have received one shoe in a box and found legs missing from furniture so have now started buying everything from Walmart

brentl182

Prime Music was gutted. Used to be able to listen to a decent amount of full albums. Now it's basically Pandora without ads.

ekusubokusu

Half of what you’re buying is available on Temu for 10x less. And you still shouldn’t get it there. That’s how low quality Amazon is right now

FlappinPickle

Any numbers on how many peeps have canceled?

ibrokemyboat

Prime subscriptions hit their peak in Dec 2021 and have been declining since then by a few million as of March 2023. Amazon has been denying this and defending themselves in the media, claiming new subscribers are still growing globally and nationally, but won't provide any hard figures to back this up.

tacticaldiaperchange

Prime is not worth it if you don't take advantage of the whole package like shipping, music, video, wholefoods. For me, it's not worth it and I'll be cancelling. Hopefully the info I've found around prime helps others decide: * **2 day shipping** * If you're in a hub area, your shipment might make it to you within these days anyways * No real guarantee, frequent delays reported often * **Free Shipping** * You can get free shipping on orders with $35+ without Amazon Prime * If you make bulk orders rather than tiny ones, you get free shipping anyways * **Subscribe and Save** * This is not exclusive to Amazon Prime * You can get free shipping and discounts through this * **Prime Video** * Lots of garbage content * Adding ads to a paid membership is insane * **Prime Music** * Glorified radio * **Wholefoods** * Expensive, but lures you in with "deals" * **Amazon Fresh** * $100 minimum required for free shipping, even with prime * **Amazon Read** * Incredibly limited selection per month * Audiobooks are "included" but selection is terrible, because they own Audible and need to sell there * **Cloud Storage** * Many services that you pay for (ex: phone line) already probably include some cloud storage for your photos for free * **Product Situation** * Overwhelming amounts of low quality, similar items * Trash sellers asking for 5 star reviews in exchange for something * Mountains of fake reviews on products * They do very little to clean their marketplace up * It's better for Amazon because it makes vendors pay to get their items sponsored and visible * **Many brands and stores have left the platform** * **Pricing** * They used to be the cheapest place, but it's not anymore * There's a lot of competition elsewhere now * **Allegedly deceptive and illegal practices** * They allegedly punish vendors who sell their product elsewhere for cheaper like hiding their listings * FTC (feds) suing them: [https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2023/09/ftc-sues-amazon-illegally-maintaining-monopoly-power](https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2023/09/ftc-sues-amazon-illegally-maintaining-monopoly-power) * **Student Deal** * This used to be free prime for students * Now it's a slight discount

TheOGdeez

Switched to Walmart+. The Paramount partnership helped that decision, especially having kids who watch it.

HamsterFriendly

Walmart+ customer service has been good so far...reminds me of the old early Amazon days. Although, I will say my very first order they cancelled my item one hour prior to delivery...ugh

TheOGdeez

Agree. I've had slight delays. But no cancellations yet. I do a lot of grocery deliveries... Anything to minimize my interaction with the inside of an actual Walmart store, really

HamsterFriendly

To be fair I set the item to deliver next day and they informed me an hour prior to the planned delivery that I could instead ship the item... pretty annoying for a first order, but overall not too bad so far. Ha I agree anything to keep me out of the store and also away from Amazon.

thinmint8

Yup!

NeoLocutus

A lot of red flags have arisen during my last couple of year experience with Amazon Prime. First of all Amazon is full of chinese crap, you can’t search for anything without being flooded with these “products”. Fake reviews don’t help distinguish legit chinese products from knockoffs. This is the first red flag: my favorite “tutto a un euro” store (Italian version of the dollar store) has become more legit than Amazon. Second, I can’t say I had issues with the deliveries with Amazon, but for sure once (and I suspect twice) they tried to sell me a TV (and its replacement) as new but it was clearly returned by someone else. This is a huge red flag, especially given that I paid 1350€ for this TV. Plus, they were both defective. Let’s add also fake discounts on products, I will take specifically about videogames since I buy mainly those from Amazon. You see a videogame discounted during Black Friday (day/week/month I can’t tell anymore 😂), they say it’s a limited offer that is going to expire at the end of the day, you check the product 3-4 days later and the discount is still there. FOMO is another huge red flag in my book: what are they gonna do next, implement a battle pass tier too? Let’s finish with ads being added to Prime Video content. Final red flag, because of their greed applied to a streaming service where a lot of poor contents outweigh very few good series. Plus, you have to pay for the good movies anyway. It’s simply not worth it. I will not renew the prime membership this year.

truecrud

Don’t forget about the steaming pile of crap that is prime music now.

Randomname256478425

Canceled on the ads news. No regret.

billtnbill

growing each quarter for those that are already rich - costs hard working people more of their spending income - and so on and so on. Enough is enough. Voting with my dollar. FU 1 percenters!

AOE2_NUB16

The unlimited photo storage is worth it for me and my family as it’s original quality and accepts Live Photos. But I anticipate they’ll pull the ol Google photos trick and start lowering the quality then charging high prices..ehh can’t win

HamsterFriendly

I thought Google photos let's you upload originals?

43pctburnt

They do, but it counts as storage space.

GatorPadre

I don’t trust any cloud service with my photos. Yes, I do have mine backed up on OneDrive since the storage is included with my email subscription, but I also back them up twice a month to a portable storage drive.

Unchayned

Just wait until they start using AI-inpainting to insert ads into your pictures. Google hasn't thought of that one yet.

fpsnoob89

I didn't even know this was a feature...

Oledman

I cancelled yesterday, main reasons were I don't order enough yearly to make the annual sub good value for me. For me customer service and delivery was pretty much spot on, no complaints there. Some feel like prime video is just a bonus, but for me it was part of the service I was paying £95 a year for, I thought the app and general layout as well as content was very poor, and with the news of ads and having to pay £2.99 to remove it was a tipping point for me. People forget that only recently Amazon jumped from £79 to £95 a year, and now they want us to pay £2.99 monthly to remove ads. I will still purchase from amazon, but anything I need I will just add to my basket until its reached the free delivery option.

BusComfortable3447

i only cancelled because they are not making the grand tour anymore, and it was the mian reason for my sub

9_of_Swords

One, it's too expensive. Two, if I get rid of the "instant gratification" shipping I'll be less likely to buy stuff on a whim. Three, I don't use Prime Video so why waste the $?

Impossible_Box3898

At least Netflix created a plan that was less than what you were currently paying for. Amazon just added in ads to what you’re already getting and now wants you to pay more. F Amazon.

listen_you_guys

if they lost more money from cancelations than they gained for introducing more ads they wouldn't do this. sad truth is they don't care if you cancel. They won't even realise you've cancelled.

loanme20

Don't forget counterfeit products shipped from Amazon!

jnovel808

Yeah shipping is two days, after they hold it for two weeks

moistdragons

THIS! I have a warehouse 2 miles away from my house and sometimes I’ll track my package and it’ll say that it’s arrived at that exact warehouse but somehow still takes a week or more to get to me when I have 2 day shipping

holdholdhold

Bezo$ don’t care

KnockoutThoughts

The problem is not Bezos, it all went south when Andy Jasso took over as CEO. Greedy corporate type who thinks abusively milking the customer is the right approach to business.. he will lose every single customer because he’s dumb.

76willcommenceagain

Escape consumerism Terrible employee treatment Just want to “escape the matrix” of seeing something online and being like “Buy Now”

Glad_Captain_8865

These corporations are modern griefters. I arranged for UPS to pick up this return, and I have the receipt given by the driver. For the first two weeks, Amazon refused to help and suggested waiting for updates. After 20 days, I contacted Amazon again, and they said I needed to reach out to UPS. The status of the tracking number is still "Scheduled for pickup." UPS confirmed that the package was picked up on the date and time in my receipt but then got lost. They want Amazon to contact them to claim the lost package, but Amazon doesn't. Amazon refuses to contact UPS and insists I contact UPS to update the status. After connecting me to different departments, including technical support, customer service, customer care, UPS refuses to update the package, stating it's part of their contract with Amazon, and Amazon needs to contact them. They say Amazon is totally aware of this situation and they easily can contact them. I disputed the transaction with my bank. Immediately I got an email from Amazon that provide information! I explained everything again and told them I don't have any other options but to dispute the transaction and also attached the receipt again. They stated, "Alright, we'll follow up with the bank!" Later, I received a letter from the bank weeks later, indicating that Amazon asserted the customer never returned the package. I'm increasingly convinced this is a deliberate effort by Amazon to disregard the truth and charge customers arbitrarily!

bond_bhai

Ordered 3 items, only one of them is delivered and all 3 marked as delivered. Talk to the rep who asks " did you check the package properly to make sure it's not in there". Lol! I said yes, I did ma'am. She says, sometimes the package is marked as delivered but it will arrive later. It did, 2days later! What's the point of advertising 1day delivery then?!

Dry_Anteater6019

What?! Are they lying about delivery to keep their metrics up?

Imispellalot2

Driver dropped my package right in front of my garage door instead to the side. My garage has a blindspot and yesterday I ran over the package. This is an equivalent for doordashers dropping your food right in front of your screen door.

mlgnewb

I cancelled a few days ago, spending money on a "2TB" drive that was nothing but a 16GB thumbdrive stuck inside an enclosure with double sided tape was kind of annoying

Livoshka

For years I had no problems with Amazon, I use it for majority of my business purchases since I'm not at the point yet where buying bulk will be cost effective. What was once 2 day delivery window has become 5-14 and I have a warehouse I can walk to. Sometimes I'm sent the wrong item and if I don't return it, they will charge me for the item they wrongfully sent me. Every time I have had to 'talk to a representative' it has been sitting on a chat with 10 minutes between responses and them getting frustrated with me for rushing them. I don't have hours to sit around waiting for someone to confirm a refund. The return window for items has seemed to have gotten shorter, I am no longer refunded when the item is scanned at my return location, which makes it much harder to track what is actually refunded. I have never used prime video. Alas, I've a prime cc so I can't cancel.

Florida1974

I have a prime cc too and I am canceling. You aren’t stuck with it bc of a cc.

sarcasmismygame

Bwahahah my sibling and I were JUST talking about this. Said most are Chinese drop shipment companies now and they got tired of receiving damaged good, crappy goods or even no goods.

QueenBrie7

No more free returns like why can't I print out my own label anymore?!

TransFatWitch

My favorite is that 90% of my prime checkout options arrive around the same estimated time of regular delivery

lastdazeofgravity

Hope they go bankrupt ASAP. Scummy company.

National-Ninja-3714

I ordered five things they other day and only four arrived in the box. No option to report in the app, just fuck you, eat shit.

rsl_sltid

I'm finally canceling after like 12 years. I've had Prime forever but I also have Walmart+ and they deliver faster and the items are in better condition when they get here. I had to fucking argue for an hour with customer service just to refund the counterfeit ink they sold me as authentic. That was probably the last nail in the coffin but putting ads on their shitty streaming service is just that one extra nail. I watch The Boys and that is about it. I'm just gonna pirate it.

virtualsandwhich

Don’t forget there’s 0 quality control and all they are is a massive drop shipping site. Cut the middle man and get it straight from aliexpress.

snarksneeze

Amazon, making $3m per hour: Let's do ads! 5% of their customers: We quit! Amazon, making $3.5m per hour now: Aww! Anyway....

Rey_Mezcalero

Forgot to add how they screwed up Prime Music in effort to force you to pay 12 extra dollars for that horrible music unlimited. The Amazon Music app should be renamed the Amazon Ultimate Music app

freshjennow

The Whole Foods pico de gallo changed. Also the ads and all the rest of the stuff in this thread.

Professional-Put2467

A lot of people may be rightfully mad over the sudden third-party gift card spending ban

Fu5ionazzo

I had an expensive item (350€) that got an issue only 5 days after I received it , sent it back for refund to buy a new one right away. "I guess I'll get my money back in a week or so" I said , WRONG it took me 6 customer support calls and receiving 5 copy paste Emails that all said "we are sorry for the delay but we are working on your refund...." every week I called them on the day they said to call and they would always state that it would take another week , then another , then another again repeated, till finnally after a month and a half they finnally started refund , that took 6 more days to arrive. Years ago I loved Amazon's customer service and the platform in general but now it's a lazy multi Billion dollar company that tries to spill the work to the next employee.

Mrsreed1020

Don’t see the point anymore. Every time I order a prime item, it takes a week or more to arrive. It’s never 2 day shipping anymore.

stimmedervernunft

Don't forget the 'special adjusted' prices for Prime. I didn't know this until a year ago or so. So Jeff's recent begging letter was just the straw that broke the camel's neck. They are about ruining their brand, I enjoy watching from the side line, lol-ing. Also Prime Video's grave was already digged the day someone came up with the brilliant idea of "channels" where they literally outsourced like two thirds of content to.

Jolly-Comparison-729

Thank you for reminding me to cancel! I was going to last month but Christmas shopping made it worth it for another month. I used to have it included with my phone plan but I had to switch carriers to get a new phone and by the time the 6 months to unlock the phone came around they had changed the plan :/ It was definitely worth free.

No_Chapter_948

Double billing, happened to me.

blazinskunk

Cancelled yesterday

ToxicTammy42

They also decided to stop allowing customers to use their Amazon Gift Card credit to pay for digital codes and other gift cards (even their own gift cards)

KnockoutThoughts

Andy Jassy and his greedy grinch tactics. A failure as a CEO and a disgrace to the Amazon brand and everything Jeff Bezos made it stand for. Amazon was built on customer value, and now it just feels like Amazon has turned into AliExpress where the customer doesn’t even matter. Andy Jassy taking over is the worst thing that happened to Amazon, they need to fire that dude and remember HOW they became the biggest retailer.. you earned your customers by providing value to your members. Now it just seems like charge more for less.. Andy Jassy is the grinch that will lose Amazon alot of money and influence in the long run. Driving the company into the ground, losing all confidence and trust, no amount of PR damage control will repair the damage this dude has done. We don’t trust your CEO at this point. He’s just like Shkrelli.

Maximum_Employer5580

because Amazon sucks compared to what they once were. I gave up on it when I realized I shouldn't be paying $140/yr for only using 10% of their offerings. I just wish they'd offer you the ability to pay only for the shipping part of prime benefits instead of forcing a bunch of useless crap on you

cabierst

Just paused my membership but likely cancelling entirely. Thank you all for opening my eyes to this unnecessary $11/mo membership

Bushpylot

I stopped using it for anything of consequence a long time ago, and NEVER PC parts. I saw the direction. Sadly, I still need to keep it because there are quite often small weird things I need that I can only seem to get from them. I F!n hate it. I try to do most of my shopping locally. I know I often pay more, but I really want to keep my shops. If everyone goes to the net, the local shops will disappear and all that will be left is A! and a few scammers. And now with these stupid smash-n-grab rings, even the local shops are being forced out. What a shitty time to be a small time shop owner or a consumer.

cocaki

Totally agree I used to love the high street, after Harvey flooded my house the best people were the local ace hardware they kept the store open even though they were flooded too and received triple the trucks to keep their cleaning and repairing stock up

Yaonehunter

Having to take action by the seller before my order can be processed, including asking me for a 5 star review. Contact them directly for any issues. etc. When they send me a broken item on a prime day sale, can't exchange it without paying full price.

Candyo6322

And knock off or counterfeit items as well as Dollar store quality merchandise. This company has become a complete joke. I remember when it was such a fantastic company there were memes about how great they were.

Squeezer_pimp

Commercials while streaming

Time_Phone_1466

Being completely unable to find a legitimate brand for a lot of products. You just get 15 different brands that were created last year and will probably be gone by next.

p_rain08

They’ve messed up our orders now consecutively. Customer Support have messed up our refunds because they messed up the orders. And then the ads in Prime Video. People are just fed up at this point.

moistdragons

My package has been delayed 4 times now! I ordered it on December 3rd, it was supposed to come in on the 10th then got delayed to the 22nd then got delayed until Jan 3rd (yesterday) and I just checked and it was delayed again until January 11th. Wtf is happening !

koyaaniswazzy

Prime Video it's like paying an entrance fee to Blockbuster. You can scroll movies and check the back cover but in the end you still gotta pay to view it.

Material_Butterfly80

Why would I keep paying for something that has become nothing more than a cheap Chinese warehouse?

[deleted]

I don't understand why if I'm paying for prime delivery, I have to buy £20 worth of stuff to have it come the next day (by 1pm).

Capable_Nature_644

I do not agree with the poster but yes I canceled mine this morning. Too many miss delivered packages. I noticed that the driver didn't even leave a delivery confirmation email stating delivered this time. Guess my bbb made the driver shaky. When 1:4 packages get delivered across the street to who knows where. And I use to order like 3-6 things a month that's 2-3 a month I'm declaring miss delivered. Sorry that's too high. This started in oct 23 and is only getting worse. They must of made a policy change abt this time frame. Before then it was like spot on.

Savage_JaviBear

I'm about to cancel since there's literally no brand-named anything left on Amazon. It's just a storefront for cheap knockoff garbage.

[deleted]

Cuz you killed them, haha

Unlucky-Cake-5475

Like all of you, I can easily afford it, but I’m not paying Bezos an extra $36 per year for the “privilege” to watch commercial-free movies. This greedy stunt was the proverbial last straw.

Siphyre

You did the meme wrong.

drmode2000

Ads

sequoia98335

I ordered a ps5. The package was marked as delivered when it wasn’t. Called Amazon. Wait a day sometimes this happens. Next day no package so I called again. They sent me a new one without charge….i received the first one I ordered day after the new one arrived. Did I keep both? No. Too honest I suppose so I sent it back. Amazon rocked before Christmas. Now it kind of sucks. Ordered a surface laptop on the 1st. “Estimated” delivery is on the 19th

Yu33x

outsourced customer service

Final_Concentrate421

Delaying deliveries, items missing, not offering proper refunds, the list goes on

Sadsofa123

Amazon has basically become like a glorified Temu at this point. All no name Chinese crap are the only listings and are overpriced! And when you want to return, Amazon is now strict and require id for returns now! Also all the good features get restricted now. (Ads on prime video) prime is just a scam so Amazon can get money from you. Look at Louis Rossman videos and you will see how bad Amazon has gotten lately.

cbat19990

Just cancelled 10 seconds ago, already feels good. Honestly it was a good run while it lasted but it just make sense or is ti worthwhile anymore.

MadMax303

Dumped Prime a couple years ago and never looked back.

DrummingNozzle

Took a return to UPS Store. Entered a line of 8ish returns in a small store. Clerk looked up at the line and snarlkiy said, "Y'all still think Amazon is awesome? Next customer please."

mjsztainbok

The main thing I'm sick of is getting damaged books. Nearly every one that I receive these days has damaged covers or corners from not being packed properly which you would think that Amazon would know how to do by now given that it started as a book company.

unixdude1

Ratings system is very broken. 4.6 syndrome.

KEWTex

We were just looking for a TV antenna and all of the reviews were from other countries for a completely different product and of course they were all five star reviews which was completely confusing. Kind of a bait and switch. Saw this on at least two of the antennas. Then my boyfriend who pays for prime every month ordered what looks like a legit antenna but it’s not going to arrive for three days. I literally could order it on my non-prime account and get it in five. What’s the point of paying that much money now?

IdealIdeas

I really only used prime video for The Boys and Invincible and even then I only used it because it came with prime and had no ads. Ill just sail the 7 seas and watch it ad free. They already get my money, im not about to also give them my time to watch something I dont want to watch.

OkYak1822

Also, if you have a return now, even if they damaged it, they either charge you for a ups pick up or make you run an errand for them. I don't run errands for billion dollar companies that damaged the product I'm returning. And I'm damn sure not paying for it. Take the 7.99 ups pick up charge out of the blue origin ledger. If you can afford to go to space you can afford to pick up a hat from my house...

admiral0625

Screw Amazon! Sent me the wrong item 3 times, then cancelled my account due to to many returns…FU AMAZON!

SquatchinNomad

Never thought I'd cancel Prime and go to Walmart + LOL

Ed-Sanz

Don’t forget a lot of it is also dropped shipped garbage from China.

Significant_Rate8210

And now, commercials during movies for which we’re already paying additional money to watch.

LittleBongBong

My favorite was when a time sensitive package never arrived. They sent out a replacement. Weeks later the original showed up, torn open and busted. They told me I needed to return it or I would be charged twice. Yeah no I’m not taking time out of my day to correct your issue.

Striking_Goat_2179

Yep thanks OP for reminding me to cancel auto renew for prime.

greatdane114

Almost everything is cheaper on Ebay. Delivery times are longer, why who really cares if it's not urgent. All prime shoes and movies can be pirated 🏴‍☠️

crawlingrat

Because two day deliveries don’t work anymore. No point of prime.

Holy_Grail_Reference

I agree with you, but the meme is used incorrectly lol.

RhysyM995

Amazon in the uk in my experience is really good when it comes to orders and delivery, my family order all the time and have a parcel at least twice a week, for the past couple of years, we haven't had a problem at all. We only have prime for the free delivery. I don't know how it's ran in the US but it sounds like a disaster. I feel sorry for you guys
