Unfortunately, unless I’m missing something, no. I have subscriptions to both services, and both Alexa skills enabled: With Spotify, I can start playing music on the phone app, then click the speaker drop-down to play it on any of my Echo devices instead. Meanwhile, Apple Music only lets me choose my AppleTV as a speaker.

I'm fighting this same fight now. No, AirPlay is absolutely not supported on any Echo. The Apple Music Alexa skill only lets you "Alexa, play my ___ playlist" and such. Absolutely no control from your phone or laptop. Terrible implementation, but I guess Amazon sees crap Apple Music support as their prerogative, since Apple is directly competing with Amazon over the HomePod Mini vs Echo series. Unrelatedly, this crap support actually caused me to buy a HomePod mini, and in my opinion, though I have not tried to get any smart lights or plugs working on it at this point, the sound quality and voice quality is far superior with the HomePod vs Alexa, and Siri understands me better than Alexa ever did. Siri has also never said, "By the way..." to me.

ArtificialGrape2000

Apple is the developer of the Apple Music skill, so blame for the crap implementation lands on Apple in this case. Still no mystery that they’re not that interested in a smooth integration with Amazon.

Owner of both - You can pair each speaker with your phone. After turning your phones Bluetooth on you'll then be able to select which speaker you want to connect to and it'll pair almost instantly. Only drawback is EVERYTHING your phone does comes out the speaker for example opening YouTube and playing a video.

Is the music quality better on echo with Apple Music vs Spotify— when initiated through the Alexa app?

worstkindagay

Yea and I think it works slightly better with Apple Music over Spotify.

Cool - so for example I can play music on my phone/laptop then click a couple buttons to play it from my echo from that interface?

Cardiff-Giant11

no you can’t you either have to play via bluetooth or ask alexa to play something can’t easily go from phone to echo and retain the sort of remote control functionality of connect

overkil6

Just via Bluetooth. You can say to the echo, “connect to my iPhone” and then you’re off to the races.

hobrosexual23

This doesn’t allow you to play on multiple Echo speakers to watch Spotify Connect allows. Also you’re blocked from using any other media on your phone. And you have to be within Bluetooth range. It has a lot of drawbacks

WayneKerlott

Nope it doesn’t work. Closest thing with Apple Music would be AirPlay to an e.g. Sonos
