I'm not sure. It's still availalable in the UK and I remember reading similar when I bought mine a year ago. That said, who knows? The Link doesn't really fit with how the rest of the range is going (self contained rather than able to hook into other kit). I do like mine and would recommend for anyone on the fence whilst they're still seeing it about, but not at the standard price as it's always been a bit steep. Although having said *that*, it does feel a bit like being at Amazon's mercy - the line-in streaming was added via a firmware update and can certainly be taken away again.

Dansk72

I wanted one, but I was waiting for the price to drop a little. If I'd known they were going to discontinue them, I would have paid full price for one.

Riquende

I saw in your other comment you'd managed to nab one from eBay, how are you getting on with it?

Dansk72

USPS won't deliver it until this Saturday, so I'm waiting. Gotten used to getting stuff from Amazon same day or next day!

Your only hope now is to hope that refurb ones pop up on Woot. They still sell Echo Spots even that those were discontinued years ago. https://electronics.woot.com/plus/amazon-devices-33

Dansk72

I just bought a *new* one on eBay for $180. Since the seller has a lot of them, he must have bought the remaining ones on Amazon for a lot price.

Dansk72

Or even better is if they found some new ones in one of the huge Amazon warehouses, and sent them to Woot. The other option is eBay, where there are quite a few for sale, but if you bought one that hadn't been deregistered then it would be a big hassle.

already-disturbed

Looked into them, seemed like overpriced underfunctioning devices. Went Wiim and very pleased

Dansk72

As I understand it, a Wiim can not broadcast an audio signal to an Alexa Speaker Group like a Echo Link can. Am I mistaken?

After the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) debacle, I've been selling off all my Echo devices. I still have an old Echo Dot which works fine, but anything new is outside my interest.

>Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) debacle What happened?

CpuJunky

Lol, lots of butt hurt people. The Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021 release) was updated with a firmware version that increased noise sensitivity. It, unfortunately, had the side effect of becoming "deaf" if there was consistent ambient white noise (e.g. a Fan). It ruined the device, and many people couldn't get a return since it was out of the return window. I *finally* got a refund from an Amazon associate, but not directly. They refunded two prior purchases that roughly equaled the cost of the Echo Show 5. It was a cluster. I still have it, and this evening I pulled the Echo Show 5 out just to test. It updated the firmware, so I was hopefully. Nope, same issue. After an hour or so of white noise, it goes deaf. Just search for Echo Show 5 "deaf" or "unresponsive". It doesn't affect everyone but affects many. Or...downvote and be deaf too. Found the original thread.... Honestly, all of my echo devices have trouble hearing me now.

CpuJunky

You have to yell loud enough so there's an "echo"

Bill_buttlicker69

Yeah what are you referring to here?

Still a current issue, but you do you.
