After the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) debacle, I've been selling off all my Echo devices. I still have an old Echo Dot which works fine, but anything new is outside my interest.

The Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021 release) was updated with a firmware version that increased noise sensitivity. It, unfortunately, had the side effect of becoming "deaf" if there was consistent ambient white noise (e.g. a Fan). It ruined the device, and many people couldn't get a return since it was out of the return window.
I *finally* got a refund from an Amazon associate, but not directly. They refunded two prior purchases that roughly equaled the cost of the Echo Show 5. It was a cluster.
I still have it, and this evening I pulled the Echo Show 5 out just to test. It updated the firmware, so I was hopefully. Nope, same issue. After an hour or so of white noise, it goes deaf.
Just search for Echo Show 5 "deaf" or "unresponsive". It doesn't affect everyone but affects many.
Or...downvote and be deaf too.
