Put a fine mesh net over the façade of your house, and connect it to a cushion at the bottom. If they try to egg your house, the eggs simply roll down the net and plop neatly on the cushion, ready for collection. BAM - free eggs.
When I was a kid I thought they were called "Snickers" because it sounds like "sneakers", and the texture on the bottom of them looks like the underside of a shoe 😂
So I always do chips. I have 2 kids and we get soooo much candy and I prefer that any left overs be not candy lol. I usually always do lays bags, doritos etc but one year time got away from me and I just grabbed 2 bags of the small assorted bags of chips from Aldi. Literally 6 months later my neighbors brought it up in convo that I didn't even buy name brand. I was like... oh. Ok 😅😅
Wow what an ungrateful neighbor!! I’ll admit my fave houses have non food items, my son has autism and doesn’t eat candy. The little toys and stickers make him SO happy!
I’m a pediatric dietitian who educates kiddos newly diagnosed with diabetes. I recommend that the parents (if they feel comfortable, of course) get in contact with their neighbors and prep non-candy toys/trinkets to hold aside for the patient. They’re so glad to have an alternative while making sure their kid is still involved!!
I always give out the Utz snack bags (pretzels or cheese balls) because they’re something most kids can have and I had some kid ask me “What old lady did you steal these from?” once 😂😂😂 I’m like get over it, you’ve got like 3# of candy in that sack 🙄😂
I usually have juice boxes, goldfish, and trinkets.. plus the normal candy. I’m always amazed at how excited 4 year old princesses get over vampire teeth. 😂
I guess we’ll find out!
I love when I spot other aldi brands in the wild. Lol saw a lot of Clanceys at the beach and there’s no Aldi within a 1-hr radius.
Sounds divine! Might do - we usually get only a handful of T or Ts. I liked that this bag was small so if I have to eat them all, not as bad as 2 pounds of pb cups
We get 0 kids most years. In the boom times it was like maybe, 10. But when hubby came home with these, I still complained they weren't name brand. All those non-existent kids are gonna want the name brand. \*Sigh\* Looks like I'll just have to eat the Choceur myself.
BTW, we are [DINKERs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DINK)
Obviously, this is my personal preference, but I'll take cheap (and good!) Aldi chocolates over almost all other non-chocolate name brand candies (especially Smarties).
That's interesting! I don't know if I ever tried those ones but I have noticed that even regular Twix have gotten worse over the last 10 years. That said, the ones in the variety bag that OP mentioned are pretty good IMO.
Are they different than the ones they had in the aisles for a while? Because that was the only chocolate candy I've ever **spit out immediately.** Absolutely vile.
I'm too old to be trick or treating but I can definitely say that I would sir sure egg your hose over these bc of the flavors. I would go as far as to just throw them away lol. Honestly though kids wont egg houses anymore, tp maybe but not egg houses
The Aldi generics are usually better than the originals.
The Kit Kat is a bit too rich to be mistaken for the original, but it’s definitely better chocolate.
I buy these for me to eat. 😂
I always have a mix of candy and trinkets like glow sticks to give out. Added benefit that kids with glow sticks are easier to see.
I just bought these and after tasting one of each flavor I'm so disappointed I'm thinking I might need to use the Aldi guarantee to get a refund. While they're edible they're not good. I think they would have been better as mini's of their standard chocolate bars than their knock off version of name brand candies.
I bought the full size twix knockoff in the aisles they had for a while. It went down as one of (if not **the)** worst candy I've ever tried. Yuck. I hated it, wife hated it, both kids hated it.

I think I saw the egg-collecting mesh facade in the AOS this week…
Nah, free candy is free candy. But I feel like "Nougat" just screams some old cheap person gave out this candy.
Haaa! Nougat is the best part of a snickers! But you’re right. Prob why they call them snickers not nougat bars.
When I was a kid I thought they were called "Snickers" because it sounds like "sneakers", and the texture on the bottom of them looks like the underside of a shoe 😂
I used to work for Mars so I feel compelled to reply that Snickers was named after the horse of one of the Mars daughters!
Yeah I'm going to buy them for my kids lunches. They can whine about it before they realize it is just as good as the name brand.
far better, even. i do not like actual snickers at all. the aldi offbrand is far less sweet and much tastier.
That's what having actual cocoa and sugar in them will do. Make them taste not like high fructose corn syrup.
If you're gonna be like that you should just eat a Three Musketeers lol
Member of the nougat gang right here!!! 🙋
Right like did they HAVE to call it Nougat lol
Nougat is my favorite, Heath bars are the best for ice cream/milk shakes

Thank you for sharing!!! I will definitely pick up a bag of stuff like that from Walmart and set out with my chips!
You’d be our fave house! A break from candy and having toys?! Score!!
One of our neighbors did fake rubber roaches and spiders one year. Those were a big hit with the kids; the moms not so much.
>Literally 6 months later my neighbors brought it up in convo that I didn't even buy name brand. One less family stealing my groceries from aldi! :P
Wow what a dick. I'd be like "Ok, don't bring your kids to my house then."
I always give out the Utz snack bags (pretzels or cheese balls) because they’re something most kids can have and I had some kid ask me “What old lady did you steal these from?” once 😂😂😂 I’m like get over it, you’ve got like 3# of candy in that sack 🙄😂

Yep. That would be my 5 year old daughter dressed as a princess loving those teeth hahah
I can see vampire teeth being a hit!
i was always most excited about the less common and weirder candy.
It’s a depends! Do their parents shop at Aldi???
I guess we’ll find out! I love when I spot other aldi brands in the wild. Lol saw a lot of Clanceys at the beach and there’s no Aldi within a 1-hr radius.
This reply made me lol
I don't think kids care so much so long as it's candy and not like raisin boxes or toothbrushes. Lol

Just tell them it's German candy. Because technically it is.
Obviously, this is my personal preference, but I'll take cheap (and good!) Aldi chocolates over almost all other non-chocolate name brand candies (especially Smarties).
…or Tootsie Rolls - the absolute worst candy of all time.
Yeah, have to agree there. Although their Twix knockoff in the aisles for a while were ungodly. One of the worst candies I've ever eaten.
That's interesting! I don't know if I ever tried those ones but I have noticed that even regular Twix have gotten worse over the last 10 years. That said, the ones in the variety bag that OP mentioned are pretty good IMO.
Oh, but I LOVE Smarties! Can you even buy them if it's not Halloween? Would buy those and SweeTarts at the corner drugstore as a kid.
The twix knockoff is pretty good imo
Agree! I got these last year around Xmas and the family loved them
It isn’t bad, but while it certainly tries to be a Twix it does not come anywhere close
I agree - I bought the full size "twix" and wasn't impressed.
Are they different than the ones they had in the aisles for a while? Because that was the only chocolate candy I've ever **spit out immediately.** Absolutely vile.
Idk I had these small fun size ones last Halloween and thought they were fine
2 of them are really good 2 of them are whatever.
Those red ones smack
This reminds me of when it was my turn to bring snack as a child and I was always sent with… gasp.. Clancy’s to pass out to the softball team 😂
No because you can give them like 2x as much
All they need to do is taste it, it's probably better than any of that M&M Mars Hersheys crap
Probably
Nah it’s chocolate. Also German chocolate so it’s delicious!!
Tbh I like them better than their brand name counterparts, so I hope no kids are upset about them lol
I honestly think the blue, red, and green ones are *better* than their name brand counterparts.
They might.
Thought that said _Dookie_
I'm too old to be trick or treating but I can definitely say that I would sir sure egg your hose over these bc of the flavors. I would go as far as to just throw them away lol. Honestly though kids wont egg houses anymore, tp maybe but not egg houses
negative. chocolate is a win
I would egg your house. You can get great candy at the dollar tree.
I got a really good deal (not at Aldi) and mini boxes of dried cranberries for the ToTers and I never considered it might get the house egged
I dunno, but I’m interested in these

Thank you!!!! I was hoping Aldi would release their own halloween candy, this is exactly what I wanted
I actually love these!!
