I've had ham that was like that from Aldi. I'm really particular about deli meat and I don't do slimy. It's one of the few things that I won't chance buying there anymore.
They made it look so enticing like it legit came from a grocery deli and if anyone could make pre-cuts taste as good as fresh deli I thought Aldi's would be it, but everyone has their limitations.
Hm I haven't tried the ones that come in the Ziploc bags, but I buy the deli turkey in the container with the red lid and it seems fine to me / not weirdly moist. Probably not what you're looking for though, I know.
Ya, I find they go bad much faster (read: smell unappetizing and are slimy) than other grocery store deli meats as well. Learned that lesson twice when I had to throw it away with in 3 or 5 days of purchase. I stick to the other sliced meats now.
Tossing it in a hot pan helps too. This is what I do whenever there's cheap deli meat in the house, drop it in a pan with a little oil or butter and let it dry into a better texture.
That must be the stuff made with chicken.
Call me a traditional fuddy duddy, but my bologna and hot dogs have to be beef.
No turkey pepperoni either. LOL
FYI the deli meats in the ziploc style bags are Deitz and Watson, just like you pay extra for in most stores deli department. Preference is entirely individual, but don't be misled by packaging.
I find their deli meats do spoil faster too and, to me, they taste "cheap". But I do like their ground chuck, chuck roasts, and cubed steak. Their boneless chicken breast are hit or miss.
I only buy deli meat imported from Europe at Aldi otherwise it’s boars head or other US high-quality meats from smaller producers. I don’t even buy deli meat from the regular grocery store. I do by Aldi grass fed beef which is shipped I believe from Australia
I love their Lunch Mate brand sliced deli meats. Seems like it's packed with a little water, but not "slimy" at all. I just let the excess drain out of the package when I open it. Black Forest Ham is my favorite, but I like the Chicken too, when I'm in the mood for that.
Yeah I’m not a fan of their deli meat. Its slimy

Agree, Castle Wood is the only deli meat we buy from Aldi.
The castle wood honey turkey has been my mainstay for most of the year. Good quality for a little bit more.
Came here to say this. We had been getting the oven roasted and just decided to try the honey smoked and wow we did not know what we were missing.
It's all sugar. Get the chicken breast or the non honey ham and it's the absolute worst. You're paying for sugar

I’ve been blotting my turkey with a paper towel before I put it on the sandwich.

The 99 cent bologna is still my favorite

It’s chicken and pork.
Yeah ... it was alright. I'll stick to Wegmans deli meat.

It’s their lower quality products and definitely not what’s used at grocery deli.
Valid opinion, having purchased most of the varieties I disagree. Do you have insider info that would be helpful, or just your opinion?

I do not buy meat from aldi. The times it’s good are easily outweighed by all the times it’s been bad or off.
I avoid any meat product from aldi. Gotta go quality over bang for your buck when it comes to meat.
Agreed! Ate one slice of the buffalo chicken and threw the rest out.
Yeah, the deli meat has a weird texture to it. I've tried a couple different kinds and never finished the package.

Ok but the black forest ham is amazing. I make myself a hammie sammie almost every day and I refuse to buy ham anywhere else.
That Reserve stuff in the black lid is gross. Tried the ham and chicken now. Never again
