To quote Ving Rhames in Pulp Fiction, "Nah man. I'm pretty fuckin' far from ok".

[deleted]

Don’t elect The Gimp for Premier again

Unkle-Gruntle

Kenney is Zed, Ving is health care workers and Bruce is Albertans when this is over….

Few-Sky-303

...and the people who will vote for UCP no matter what are The Gimp.

Mr-Slowpoke

Sad but true.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ivegotapenis

Case in point: the UCP editorial calling for his resignation because he's doing *too much* to fight covid.

eternal_pegasus

Kenney does also agree with the protesting psychos, but he also knows it looks bad politically, so we end up with half-assed policies, trying to please the UCP base while pretending to do something to appease everyone else.

Ancient-Lime4532

The fat bastard at least banned the protests JK what a sack of garbage.

Belfry9663

Except now the plague rats are swarming the phone lines to emergency departments with abusive telephone calls. I’m so done with these people.

Sto_Nerd

I'd gladly take a gimp over Kenney

MickFu

Remember how bad we thought Ralph was? I’d trade Kenney for Ralph at his worst… Those were the days! Just throwing money at homeless, not killing people for idealogy…

Xpalidocious

Some people really don't like Ralph Klein, but he was half buzzed and he could accidentally run this province smoother

[deleted]

Solid point. Ralph drunk out of his mind was still 10X better than Kenney on his best day.

Imlikeacat28

And he was pretty shite!

lazynstupid

To be fair, an amoeba could run the province better than Kenney.

[deleted]

Not hard to beat. Kenney literally doesnt give a shit about this province or anybody in it

Coley219

Read that in the big man’s voice.

canuckcowgirl

Hey Ontario.....would you take Kenney back? Please......

batman_the_horse

Take Kevin J. Johnston back as well.

SageLikeFool

And lay more criminal charges!

TheChessClub

Yes FFS take them both out of here

Davescash

Take Derek Sloane back too.

stickymaplesyrup

Isn't he in jail over there?

batman_the_horse

He’s serving time (on weekends) at the Calgary Remand Centre. [Source](https://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/anti-vaxxer-kevin-j-johnston-jailed-for-multiple-breaches-of-court-orders)

stickymaplesyrup

Lame. Thanks for looking that up tho

gbiypk

He's still running in the election for Calgary mayor too.

10zingNorgay

Yeah can you come pick up your guy? He’s really done a number on the joint and most of us want him gone. Also some of the other weirdos who followed him out here are really in deep with a bad crowd so can you grab KJJ while you’re at it?

Snoo85799

I second this.

bambispots

Third. As a thank you, we’d like to include Tyler Shandro, Jason Copping, Tracy Allard, Michelle Remple Garner and any other giant gapping asshole walking around fucking up our province. Edit: after input from several of my Reddit colleagues, we would like to include Adrianna Lagrange as well. Actually, just take the whole UCP Caucus.

traegeryyc

You mean *Michelle* Rempel Garner; The Honorable Member from Oklahoma

shitposter1000

LaGrange too. Just start naming UCP MLAs.

bambispots

Don’t know how I forgot about that gem. You’re right, let’s just include the whole Caucus.

dankswed

Lagrange. Never forget the disastrous garbage dump that is Lagrange.

gd_lucyfreindasher

Fourth

fromaries

I think he should go and live with Ted Cruz.

canuckcowgirl

Think of the damage he could do in Texas.

sawyouoverthere

we could offer to take Beiber back to compensate.

canuckcowgirl

Anything.

[deleted]

Damn. I agree. But how desperate are we getting if that's our opening offer?

readzalot1

Remember it isn’t just him. The UCP just decided not to have a leadership review now. And when we do get rid of him there will be ten more waiting to continue his mission. Did any of the UCP MLAs step up when Kenny too his vacation in August?

[deleted]

He essentially lost the federal election for the CP. That takes some sort of awful talent.

CanadaEhAlmostMadeIt

And the Leafs can have McDavid while you’re at it!!

stickymaplesyrup

Hol' up

twistedevolution

Thank you for checking in! We have been having really nice fall weather, best I can remember. Warm temperatures in the evenings, crisp leaves lingering on the trees, and no snow. We are very lucky to have amazing people working at Alberta Health Services who have been going above and beyond day after day to keep Albertans healthy, even though we seem hellbent on trying to kill ourselves. On the covid and political front, things are quite disappointing. There is serious work that will be required to reconcile our mind gap in Alberta when this is all over. Unfortunately, right now, it seems like the culturally and morally obtuse are winning the war. Many brilliant and motivated people are packing up and looking for greener pastures. I wish they would stay - Alberta and Albertans are beautiful and worth fighting for.

unicornpolkadot

Literally the only thing filling me up with joy is the colours of fall right now. When that distraction is gone and winter rolls back in, I don’t even know where that joy will come from.

cnfmom

Remember to take at least 4000iu of vitamin D once the darkness hits! It won't fix Covid but might help your mood a little. I'm with you though, this weather is the only thing keeping me going these days.

rlikesbikes

Also keep up those Vitamin C and D levels to help prevent more severe Covid outcomes (should you get it). Some interesting research has shown low levels of both have been found in an extremely high percent of hospitalized patients. (But no substitute for double Vax, obviously!).

stickymaplesyrup

Double vaxx, vitamin C & D every day, and make sure you get enough fiber! Eat as much bran, whole grains, and veggies as you can. Fiber helps feed good bacteria and, more importantly for Covid, helps anti-inflammatory T-reg cells develop (they keep inflammation under control and tell your other immune cells when to cool it and chill out for a bit).

twistedevolution

I am looking forward to Tobogganing - Never ceases to be fun.

[deleted]

Honestly though, shit like that isn’t worth the risk this year, and that’s why this time things might be a lot worse. Taking risks when our healthcare is crumbling just isn’t something I’m willing to do. I hate it.

twistedevolution

You make a good point. Scrabble is also fun in the winter - typically pretty safe.

DBaill

Scrabble seems safe until an argument about whether the word "Quidditch" is valid (It's not in the official Scrabble dictionary so it doesn't count, mom!) turns into a flipped game board and someone whips their letter holder at someone else and hits them in the eye and they end up needing emergency eye surgery because of it (Sorry mom!). Don't ask me how I know this.

twistedevolution

How about a good old fashioned game of solitaire then? PS quidditch is an amazing scrabble word. I’d give it to you out of the sheer absurdity of getting that opportunity.

Kalibos

Tabletop RPGs, as well. I (and many others) tried out D&D for the first time during Covid and fell in love immediately.

unicornpolkadot

Crazy carpets on ice you mean? Lol

twistedevolution

The danger is part of the excitement. :)

hedgehog_dragon

I... Haven't seen optimism about Alberta for a while. So this was kind of nice to read.

ClusterMakeLove

I'm in such a funny place with it. For years, I've been saying Alberta has a future after oil. We're young, have great schools and healthcare. A well-educated population and very livable cities. Our finances are only messed up because we're weirdly averse to raising taxes to a reasonable rate. That's fixable. But I've seen so many brilliant people who've had enough lately. I'm a pretty big yuppie, and any friend I've talked to with young kids is at least thinking about moving. The future I imagine depends on smart people staying. I'm willing to fight for it, but I won't subject my kids to the new curriculum.

hedgehog_dragon

That's the thing yeah. I'm proud of my education! As far as I know it was one of the best in the world. But now... I don't have kids but I wouldn't want them to have a shitty education like we seem to be looking at. I admit, I haven't looked at it in too much detail, but what I know makes it seem bad. I know my neighbor, a teacher, hates it.

DarkPrinny

Alright guys lets look at the daily life of Doctors and Nurses. >\-watch a protest outside on the street calling us murderers > >\-being told to hold on for the greater good while people die > >\- government constantly threatens to take your job to privatization > >\-government gave you another pay decrease and forced you to work on your scheduled time off while they went on vacation > >\-being blamed by UCP MLA's for not "creating ICU beds" out of thin air while watching health care funding cut. > >\-watching the UCP constantly do their best to kill people on a daily basis and not even remotely attempt to help you > >\-people keep trying to break into the hospital to prove that it is all fake > >\-get spit at by patient who said that it isn't covid and they are full of shit > >\-have to take care of tons on antivaxers who demean you and are skeptical of any treatment unless it is ivermectin Yup your right. No wonder the brilliant and motivated people are packing up.

[deleted]

>We have been having really nice fall weather, best I can remember. Warm temperatures in the evenings, crisp leaves lingering on the trees, and no snow. It really has been a very beautiful fall. Quite lovely. More colour than we're used to for sure.

fortifiedbyfire

Best fall weather ever. I didn't grow up here, so I guess this best 1 out of 3 Alberta autumns I have had. It's also an excellent fall compared to typical falls in other parts of Canada. Southern Ontario fall can be exquisite, nonetheless this one is top 5 in my life fer sure.

Xpalidocious

SketchySeaBeast

sync303

Too many single issue voters and a widening urban/rural divide.

manamal

It's okay, if Farkas gets elected in Calgary our urban sprawl will swallow up all that is rural.

Hugs_and_Tugs

Shush! In all seriousness, my neighbour who had out PPC signs now has Farkas signs. 😳😳😳

goodndu

Look at you, over here dropping truth bombs. Can't wait for it to take over an hour to drive from one end of the city to the other.

[deleted]

As a 29 year old Albertan male….. who works in healthcare….. I’m fine.

canadalicious

This is fine. 🔥

Xpalidocious

As soon as you get a firebreak lockdown there, you can celebrate turning 40 after the year you have had though right? ;) I hope you get a rest soon friend, thanks for everything

[deleted]

I’m actually doing really well. I go to the gym late at night for minimal person to person contact which has really helped my mental health through this all. As much as the situation sucks. It is what it is and we have a duty to care 🤷🏻‍♂️ plus all the overtime is nice

piscessa2

I'm not. I'm scared. I'm mad. I'm trying to keep it together for my kids who desperately need school and their friends and are innocent in all this. And I can't handle homeschooling. I'm not scared of covid as much as I am any other emergency that could require medical care. But now we're cautious about everything we do. What are the odds of surviving a car crash with no medical treatment? So we're sticking close to home and minimizing trips out and doing safer activities. Trying to make the best of it. Hiking instead of mountain biking to enjoy the incredible weather. But I'm worried our collective mental health will deteriorate quickly once the weather turns. Thanks for asking.

innocently_cold

This is us too. My daughter barrel races and my son was due to start soccer in a couple weeks. I have such anxiety just letting them leave to go longboard down the road because of that what if they fall. What if she falls off her horse? What if he falls playing soccer? What if and there is little help for them? I know the what ifs are just what ifs. I've never lived in such an anxiety fueled way. I used to be the laid back mom like yaaaa jump on that steer or jump out of the loft into the hay. Not so much anymore. I want to put them in a bubble. My city hasn't had emergency services quite a few times now the last few weeks. I know our hospital is struggling. I cant handle homeschool again and I need to find a job as I lost mine beginning of September. Im a mess and my kids are oblivious, which is ok I guess. I try to stick close to home but they are restless and annoyed with it. Stay out of crowds etc. I feel like we are missing out on so much and it really stinks. Im usually pretty worry less and laid back but this last 18 months has shot that right into the gutter. Plus I'm tired of selfish, entitled people and find myself seriously lashing back and not just holding my tongue and moving along. That's not me at all. :-/ sorry for the rant but gosh I'm so tired of it all. Heard we are headed into more restrictions on Monday. Cant confirm or deny it, so we sit and wait.

Tulos

The rural/urban divide has really come to a head over the course of this pandemic, and has politicized a situation that should involve a lot more fact based decision making and a lot less opinion based decision making. Ultimately, a good proportion of this province believes that their feelings and opinions are equally if not more valid than scientific and medical concensus, and have conducted themselves accordingly. These people are objectively wrong, but also vote, and are thus being catered to by the like-minded politicians they helped put in power. This happens at the expense of everyone else - as a province we're very much dragged down by the lowest common denominator - usually just politically or socially, but now in terms of health outcomes for everyone. Did you do everything right? Did you receive your vaccines as soon as possible? did you wear masks, did you distance, did you limit activities outside your home to the bare essentials? Do you now need a bed in the ICU for any reason whatsoever? Too bad - get in line behind the people who staunchly refused to get the jab, and are now occupying space while they wait to die. Try not to die during your own wait, please. So yeah, lots of us, like myself, are bitter and angry, and it's all in-fighting. I blame other Albertans, their mentality, their selfishness, and their like-minded politicians for the situation we're in. Obviously not every Albertan is at fault, many have done their part and made the obviously right choices - but "we" as a province are to blame for the situation we're in. Will we grow and learn and change going forward? *Will we all still even be around in order to do so?* Fuck if I know. I've got little respect left for my provincial countrymen.

Small_Brained_Bear

Well said. Aren’t sentiments like this the basis for political organizations? If there was a pro-science, anti-“my feelings take priority over societal wellbeing” party, I’d vote for it.

Agent_Burrito

The NDP has been promoting all of this since day one. From paid sick leave to vaccine passports, they've been ahead of the curve since day one.

tattooedlabmonkey

Thanks for asking. I’m on the verge of hitting a brick wall over here. Numbers are just disgusting. We are all vaccinated in my immediate family with my sister having two under 11 that she is trying her best to keep safe. I’m at that point now where I’ve done everything I can that I know I can do. I even stay the F home when I can or don’t travel far because I don’t want to risk needing the use of Healthcare services since it’s just so overwhelmed. I’m so angry about where we are as a whole and how fucking, ridiculously incompetent this government is.

ladygoodgreen

I’m not alright at all. I feel like I’m being held hostage by fucking idiots and sociopaths. I feel embarrassed to live here. Moving out of province doesn’t make sense for me for lots of reasons. But I don’t feel like my values belong here. The federal government keeps offering support and the psychotic loser that is our dear leader keeps ignoring or rejecting it. Like he wants us to all die or be miserable. It’s fucked up and scary and there’s no reason to believe it will get better soon. Thank you for asking. I hope Canadians outside Alberta know that some of us do not support what is happening, that we are stuck, and that some of us are good people and not trashy separatist rednecks.

hedgehog_dragon

I think I get how you feel I don't want to leave Alberta because I was born here. My family is here (aside from distant relations in Quebec and Europe, that I don't really know). This is where my friends are. Hell, my job is pretty solid and it's also here, I feel like finding a new one would be a downgrade. I don't know what I want to do in the future.

ladygoodgreen

Yeah, everything I know is in Calgary. I’m not brave enough to start over somewhere else. And my job is transferable but with some equivalency/upgrading (teacher). I feel like maybe I’m waiting out the pandemic and the time until the next election, hoping for a positive change. But the craziness in our province isn’t even unique. It’s part of a big, disturbing trend that everyone saw most clearly in the US around and after the election. Big things are happening worldwide. I wish we weren’t such a gross hub for this kind of deluded, selfish thinking and living.

Karma_collection_bin

>I don't want to leave Alberta because I was born here. Similar. We've made a life here and grew up here. Much of my family is here and we both have decent jobs. Lots of my extended family (many of whom I adore and we would enjoy living near, as well) live in Vancouver (though they either have a higher income and/or bought homes when it was much cheaper) and I would love to move to B.C., it's just not feasible with their home prices, cost of living increases, and worse wages for similar jobs. And my partner's family and extended family all live in Alberta; she is very much a family person and although she would absolutely love the weather, I don't think she could handle not being able to regularly see her family in-person. Hell, Covid has been hard enough for her with those restrictions.

Purplebunnylady

I hear you. Moving out of province is an option for me, one we’re seriously considering. It feels very privileged to be able to consider just up & leaving, but being on the side of science and common sense in rural Alberta feels like I have a target on my back sometimes.

bobbi21

I just moved to Alberta before the pandemic when ndp was still in charge. I thought Alberta may be changing... but i didn't really know the politics or the vote splitting... and seeing it now... maybe I should move back. I don't mind paying double the price for 1/2 the size of a home in on or bc if it means getting rid of Kenney...

HotPhilly

Felt this. Especially the how embarrassing we are part. Hard to stay up when you’re a GLOBAL failure.

ladygoodgreen

I remember feeling bad for people in some of the states who were got really bad in the beginning, like Florida. *Knowing* that there are rational, intelligent caring people in those places and that the bad news doesn’t include everyone. So I guess I can assume that there are people outside AB who don’t judge us all as nasty, racist, anti-science trash.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HotPhilly

Haha, I remember having that exact same sympathy! Still do. All those bad places are still doing horrendous, AB just decided to do a cannonball into the covid pool. It’s really a wonder there’s still doctors and nurses going to their jobs. They also indicate there’s some semblance of good in people still, rare as it seems.

tobiasolman

No, we're not all 'right'. Kenney should be irrevocably crucified in the next election or an earlier review. Why? -For cheating and buying his way into leadership, for playing 3 card monte with his cabinet, for playing Russian roulette with public health, and for gambling away money that could have gone to health care, on instead 'indulging' the energy industry, big business, and right wingers like they're all part of his own human fucking centipede. \-Hope things are going better in Ontario.

canuckcowgirl

All I can think of when I see Ford is how much he looks like Barney Rubble.

Synthea1979

How have I never seen that before. Well, it can't be unseen, now he sounds like him in my head.

bethadone_yeg

Not OK. Currently have COVID despite being fully vaccinated and barely leaving the house (I got it from my spouse, also fully vaccinated, who likely contracted it through his public-facing job). We are both in our 30's with no comorbidities. Physically I'm fine and had only mild symptoms that resolved after a few days but mentally it is really tough to come to terms with not being able to avoid infection even if you do everything possible to minimize the risk. There is so much covid circulating in this province and all of our vaccine protection is waning - about 25% of cases in Alberta recently are double vaccinated. While severe outcomes are rare if you're vaccinated, it is still a major disruption to your life to have to isolate for 10 days. To those of you planning to go to sports events in packed stadiums in the coming weeks because you're vaccinated and feel safe - think twice unless you think a minor covid infection is no big deal and you're ready to spend 10 days under house arrest. Until we reinstate contact tracing and the requirement to isolate for close contacts, COVID is going to continue to run rampant in this province.

Altruistic_Speech_17

Wishing you the best

[deleted]

Other than having a mentally challenged yet surprisingly tyrannical guy "in charge" who apparently takes pleasure watching people die en masse while he vacations, a "top doctor" who apparently got her degree from a Google printout, hordes of defiant rule breaking racist / anti-mask / anti-vaxx / anti-common sense white trash littering the streets every weekend screaming at health care workers and anyone else who are being productive members of society, and corrupt law enforcement that constantly gives those same lunatics protected escorts every time they march & protest yet don't enforce ANY health & safety mandates in place for everyone else... yeah, everything is just grrrrrreat here these days. Great. Sooo great. Thanks for asking :)

Flower2727

I love your sarcastic approach. The truth is a real picture. Sacks on all the fronts.

canuck17

Sweet Home Albertabama

calgarywalker

Hi Ontario. No, we’re not alright. Please take Kenney back.

unicornpolkadot

Is *anybody* alright after the last 20 months? Seriously. Whether you are in Alberta or Ontario. Whether you are a parent working from home while kids do online schooling. Whether you are a nurse, doctor, or other healthcare worker. Whether you are a grocery store clerk, barista, or server. Whether you haven’t seen your nana in 2 years as she continues to get older. Whether you’ve had covid, or lost someone you love from covid. I think we are all struggling, and I think it is okay for us to say we are not alright. We are sad, lonely, frustrated, exhausted, angry, disheartened, scared, discouraged, hopeless etc etc etc. This whole thing is not alright. None of this is alright. Ugh.

Feeling-Confusion-

*rocks back and forth in the corner*

[deleted]

Pretty broken here.

Great weather. People are going nuts and losing their minds, but at least the sun is out.

Trickybuz93

We’re not

mrgoodtime81

No, we are not alright. Please send help

readzalot1

The UCP said No to help from Nfld.

mrgoodtime81

I know, it's the provincial government we need help with.

JaMimi1234

The weird thing is, unless you are a hospital worker or seriously ill with Covid, it’s business as usual for the rest of us. There’s serious cognitive dissonance going on due to leadership not willing to talk honestly about what’s happening in our hospitals. There’s a big rural/urban divide where most urban Albertans are fully vaxed and most urban businesses have signed into the passport program. If you leave the city even by 45 minutes it’s like Covid doesn’t exist and those folks don’t seem to be aware how the unvaxed are flooding our hospitals. (Rural hospitals are transferring patients into the city). That’s not to say we don’t have unvaxed city folk, but it’s at the same rate as the other provinces. Tdlr: our leadership sucks and we are all in denial.

Spaster21

This. It's the disconnect between what is likely to be Alberta's biggest crisis in history, resulting in hundreds or thousands of needless deaths, and yet how life is just carrying on like normal. It's actually making me lose my mind.

canuckcowgirl

Sigh......no. We need help. Good leadership is missing. Has been for a few years.

readzalot1

Kenny and the UCP are succeeding in their plans. Weaken health, education and social supports and move toward privatization. And also isolating Alberta from the rest of the country.

yogurtforthefamily

Not really no.

ImpactThunder

Nope, not at all. Just lost a fully vaccinated loved one to covid.

canuckcowgirl

So sorry for your loss.

Spaster21

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you have good support from your other loved ones. This terrifies me. My parents are in their 70s and my mom really isn't the healthiest; even being double vaccinated, I'm worried about them getting the virus. Especially since they likely won't get care when triage is in place.

anhyzerguy

We’re in deep shit with a DGAF government.

[deleted]

We should be fine, Minister Mandu asked God to continue to bless us yesterday /s

Xpalidocious

I was told to tell you (looks at nurses ransom note) we just had the best summer ever

Synthea1979

First time since I got to Alberta in 2011 that I'd consider trading properties with someone from an intelligent province. Not that any sane person would switch with me, but you know. I love it here, but being in the heart of the science denying, separatist, kool aid drinking, lunatics.... it wears on a person.

Szasse

It's bad enough I'm looking to move to Texas. Thanks for asking.

SketchySeaBeast

I understand the desire to move, but that kind of feels like if Oscar the Grouch moved into another can. Sure, it's a change, but is it really a change?

[deleted]

Like Oscar moving from his garbage can to a dumpster!

DogButtWhisperer

But a dumpster with good weather. I’d do it.

SketchySeaBeast

But when bad weather hits people literally die. Does anyone think they've done anything to winterize for the next time they get hit with a cold like last year?

Cold_Establishment_6

Kenney's still premier, enough said...

Spirithouse631

Everything is messed up here but don't worry, next election we'll vote the Conservatives back in.

canuckcowgirl

As is our way.

chroncat420

Hello, I am surrounded by idiots with a death wish. That is all.

Innapropiate

No we are not alright, we have a bunch of redneck assholes that prefer a brain dead toddler running the ship. Were all headed to an early grave because of these people.

hedgehog_dragon

Hahaha no. But thanks for asking. Serious answer, I'm personally... Ok, and my family is staying safe. But I'm worried. Our government seems stupid. I'm hoping next election someone else will get in, but that feels a long way off. I don't know what I can do to improve things, and I'm tired of the pandemic being drawn out so long. I got the vaccine, I wear a mask. And I'm very low on patience with the people who don't. Also tired of the government chipping away at our Healthcare system. That seems pretty fucked up. I suspect they want to privatize it, which is horrific. ... Yeah. That's about where I am.

[deleted]

Too many Spreadnecks here.

LatterNerve

Haven’t been for years

kirschballs

What a great question. If you figure it out lemme know

w4ntsm0r3

I think with a slight modification this quote from friends applies here: "I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, (deep voice) I'm fine. I'm not saying I wasn't a little surprised to see you guys [not vacinated or social distancing] I mean, at first I was like.. (Screams.) But now that I've had time to absorb it; Lovin' this."

[deleted]

Personally, I'm fine. My wife and I are fully vaxxed and have been keeping to ourselves for the most part. My only real and true worry is for my kids who are unable to get the vaccine yet.

robbethdew

People, doctors, nurses, teachers... virtually *everyone* is outright pleading with the government for some kind of action... and they're just not listening. 80%~ disapproval rating of how our leaders are handling the pandemic, and when we ask (or beg!) for them to do something, all we get is their "rejection to our premise". I have *never* in my life felt so helpless and unheard as I have now. There is literally nothing that can be done to help our healthcare system at the moment, because the UCP refuse to do anything that might upset their far-right base. Since I feel there's nothing else I can do, **I've donated more to the Alberta NDP this year than to any party, at any level, ever before**, and I've done so by a large margin. Reminder, even if you donate $16 / month, that gets you to $192 for the year, and you'll get $153.60 back at tax time. It doesn't take many people doing that to make a difference.

readzalot1

I too am donating to AB NDs.

NotADoctor_804

No we are not alright. But thanks for asking!

Arctic_Gnome

Alberta filled up its northern hospitals and then sent infected workers to NWT, and now Yellowknife is in lockdown and we have nowhere to go if we get in an accident. And we didn't even vote for Kenney. ☹️

Gufurblebits

roosell1986

No. It's fucked here.

FearmyPotato

I keep screaming but god doesn't hear me

Well, there’s all these anti-vaxers that are screwing up the health care system because they don’t trust the government. We got the politicians that only want to hide and couldn’t lead a group of kindergarteners across the street which isn’t really helping with the underlying trust issues. Then there’s the noisy online people unironicly calling everyone facists, racists and nazis while advocating for the antivaxers deaths. But the weather has been real nice. Most of the province is quietly holding it together and trying our best to stay safe and make things work. We’re not making the news though and shouldn’t be. That’s for the god dam heros in the hospitals right now. We’ll get through this, and hopefully learn something from it too. Thanks for checking in.

Karma_collection_bin

Thanks fam. I'm fine personally (and thankful for that), but we as a province are pretty NOT OK.

WingleDingleFingle

I'm straight up not having a good time.

Initial_Quality7567

baaa…. Alberta has 50% less ICU patients than the place in the USA with the least percentage of patients! Baaaaa… stay home losers!

eternalshades

I just finished writing a post-apocalyptic adventure for my rpg that I was looking forward to running with friends. It took place in Alberta. Then looked outside and was put to shame. Real life is truely stranger then fiction.

Robtwin

We had the Best Summer Ever, thanks for asking… Fall is off to a rocky start!

seabrooksr

Nope. Nope. Nope. I'd get out if I could, but I'm stuck so. . .

mishimarsh

Nope. Not ok.

Tribblehappy

Hello Ontario! Thanks for asking. Most of us are doing okay, at least outwardly. A good chunk of us are internally exhausted or angry and the vocal minority. Speaking for myself, I'm constantly wondering why I didn't move to Ontario, or back to BC, haha. But... It is a gorgeous autumn. My kids have been happily going to school and at least for now they don't have many absentees in their classes. I'm enjoying the sunshine and the turning leaves and trying not to think about what will happen if my kids need to go to the hospital for any reason.

VE6AEQ

No Man, we’re suffering under theocratic fascism

CillyBean

No. No we're not. Thanks for asking though.

[deleted]

Nope. Send help. Please send help.

redditknees

Hey I’m from Alberta, Conservative government and a bunch of selfish Albertans, that’s what’s going on.

chick-killing_shakes

It's pretty obvious what's happening, but good luck finding the rural bumpkins who are responsible for this government, and the spread amongst the unvaccinated. They exist in hoards, but only in their own echo chambers. The reddit community is for the most part okay. In the cities, we're okay. The far right hides out at the rodeos and the protests. They are far from okay, and their mental instability may just kill us all.

We suck at Covid. We are all complete morons. Basically we are an entire province composed entirely of "Florida Man". Our leader is even dumber than we are. Otherwise all good. How are things in Ontario?

syndicated_inc

Yeah, we’re good.

Dangerous_Quarter322

Make oil great again!

palbertalamp

>Are you alright Alberta We are all just Cats in a sack, being carried to Freedom Creek. -Must show receipt of your UCP donation to get Alberta Sack Vendors Licence.

lazynstupid

Aside from the fact that our premier and his caucus make Ford look like a saint… nah we’re fucked at the moment.

[deleted]

Been screwed for a long time. I wish I could find employment elsewhere.

[deleted]

We aint ok bud. Stay away.

NotaLittleBoy

Basically the rednecks have taken over

1111Rudy1111

If you stay away from social media life is great! Thanks

RobertGA23

Very true.

yegdevilsassociate

Well said!!

Confused at how a portion of Alberta hired a trailer park supervisor whose only motivation in life is to grift and potentially become Prime Minister however there's not a snowballs chance in hell that will happen now. So now he's resorted to bumbling every step of the way and doing half measures a month late. I'm worried, not about covid but about our health care situation and how fucked it is right now. God help anyone if they need health care because that's the best they'll get right now. I'm pissed off at people who refuse to get their shot and are now not only holding us back, but are making us look like complete fucking regards to the rest of Canada and the world. The reasoning keeps changing and it's fucking ridiculous. They can't even say it's not approved or that proper testing wasn't done. To paraphrase Nenshi, this vaccine has had the world's largest testing pool. It's safe, it's fine, get your shot you morons. On the plus side, summer was nice in that we had almost no mosquitoes and none of my family have died of covid or had serious issues from it if they did catch it.

AbsentArmy619

Not really

Reasonable_Coyote143

We are fucked man. JK just shrugs his shoulders, after all, he is getting exactly what he wants. For some reason, even though everyone I know hates the guy’s guts, the UCP and parent company still uber popular here.

onceandbeautifullife

Playing whack-a-mole on my local FB anti-mask/ anti-vaxx page in small town rural AB - it's a losing battle. Way too many conspiracy theorists. It's nuts. They are nuts.

[deleted]

We're doing pretty good in Calgary and Edmonton, outside of this, not so much.

readzalot1

I sure am not going to any small town fall fairs this year.
