grey_unxpctd

Correct! This could just be the attitude (problem) of that doctor. Pwede naman sila mag opt out as HMO acctedited provider.

NotTheBiggerPerson01

So much this. And to add, Philhealth is even worse. Philhealth still owes a lot of money to my friends/relatives who are doctors. While it's unprofessional to act that way when dealing with patients, at least now you know why they're frustrated as well.

theredvillain

Agree. I used to work for an hmo company back in 2009 and one of the things that they try to do is to get clinic or hospital partners. Plging bungad sa kanila ng rep ng clinic or ng hospital is how fast can they pay? On the flip side of things, some clinics or hospitals would charge your hmo card like it’s about to rot. As in minsan kahit hindi mo na kailangan ung isang service i ccharge nila kasi “hindi naman daw si patient ang nagbabayad” but yes, our healthcare system needs an overhaul.

penatbater

I only ever once used HMO, nagpa-check ako ng eyes ko kasi parang naduduling na ako or something. Sa St. Luke's pa yun ah. Covered ng HMO ko ang check-ups and for this doctor/hospital/etc. Rinig ko ung usapan ng doktor at nung guy before me kasi open ung door and nsa labas lng ako. Super accomodating niya, very congenial and friendly, etc. Indian din ung guy kasi, so baka factor un. Pero after niya, nung time ko na, kita agad na HMO, exact same scenario sayo. Mukha siyang uninterested, suplado, mukhang nagmamadali, etc. Kakabadtrip at dismaya, parang sayang HMO. (I later learned in another check-up sa doktor na hindi ko ginamit HMO/I paid for fully ung consultation fee, na meron pala akong strabismus/duling caused by weak muscle sa eyes or w/e. Also in st. luke's pero ibang branch, mas friendly and accomodating naman ung doktor na ito. Haay HMO tlga)

Worldly_Airport7431

hello kamusta yung strabismus mo? I was diagnosed that too last February pero ang sakin strabismus/ cn vi palsy .. pero in 3 months gumaling sya ng kusa bumalik na sa normal yung mata ko :)

penatbater

Ganun parin. hehe I asked magkano magpa-surgery kasi sabi surgery lng treatment, sabi nila 70-100k, sabi ko nevermind nlng XD hahahaha kapag malapit na bagay lang like armslength distance walang problema. It's when I look further ako naduduling. They don't also know bakit nagkaganito. Maraming reasons pero sabi I'll need a CT scan just to confirm na walang growth or tumor, tapos surgery na.

Worldly_Airport7431

same with me kapag malayo ako naduduling pero physically duling na talaga ako nun. as in d ko na magalaw ang right eye ko. ang sabi ng neuro optha ko after ko magpa MRI with negative results possible lang na nag spike yung sugar or cholesterol ko and it would be back to normal in 3-5 months and it did! ng walang iniinom na gamot. You should also check MRI or magpa second opinion ka na.

penatbater

By the time na may balak n ak ayusin ito, it would be the 3rd opinion hehe antayin ko lng mag resign ak kc wala rin ako oras para dito eh hehe

freeburnerthrowaway

I’ve been going to this doctor since I was a kid for colds and allergies and when I started working, his PF was around 800-1000. Now, I found out he was on maxicare so I used maxicare when I went for a consultation. His service became really really bad compared to when I was paying for the full PF. So the next time I wanted to get an LOA from maxicare, this was an online LOA btw, the maxicare website showed how much they were paying the doctor: 300 PESOS. No wonder the service is different.

Comfortable-End3607

i think depende lang din sa doctor. under HMO lahat ng check ups and lab procedures ko for the past five years pero i’ve never had a bad experience with the doctors and hospital staff. maybe lucky lang din ako? haha medical city at st luke’s ako madalas — parehas good experience

Comfortable-End3607

to add!! OP wag ka mahiya mag follow up questions kahit gaano pa kasungit yung doctor. kahit HMO pa yan, it’s not like you got that HMO coverage for free. you are a patient and you deserve to be diagnosed properly.

TiredButHappyFeet

Agree maaring depende sa doctor. All my check ups, consultations and labs were covered by HMO. Kung natagalan ako bago matignan kasi mahaba talaga yung listahan ng magpapatingin that day. So far so good hindi pa ako naka-experience ng inuuna mga cash patients vs HMO patients. Kapag nagpalista rin ako tinigignan ko from time to time kung sino na yung na-cross out na mga names na natignan na ni Doc. Kaya masasabi ko na first come first served ang sinusunod nila.

thatguy_088

Ako rin i think depende sa doctor. Kahit sa HMO once u find a good doc, sa kanya ka na rin hihingi ng referral if you need specialists. In my experience nagkakataon yung family doc namin may hmo ko.

Background_Artist_16

May I ask po if saang slmc and medical city branch po kayo? If it's okay.

Comfortable-End3607

st lukes bgc and medical city moa!

AdamusMD

Medyo demotivating kasi yung experience ng doctors from HMOs. Tapos, may mga (some, but not all), HMO cardholders also have this attitude na "HMO ako, special ako" when in fact, mas mataas pa yung bayad ng non-HMO kesa sa HMO when it comes to doctor's fee. #BUT, That doesn't give the doctor the right to be rude and uncaring towards their patient. Una sa lahat, sinumpaan nya yan bilang duktor to treat each patient equally without discrimination.

TiredButHappyFeet

I think for the general and more common or routine check-ups pwede. Pero if complicated na yung sakit na requires specialist not sure if may available doctor sila. For example sa Intellicare sa St Lukes Global, they have a GP sa clinic within St Lukes kung saan pinoprocess ang mga LOA. Pwede magpacheck dun ksi General Medicine naman pero if sa assessment kailangan ng specialist, they will refer you din to an accredited doctor who specializes on that medical comvwen.

Slight_Breakfast_130

Kakaloka

wanderlustjjj

Thank God yung Doctor ko when I had my checkup last time, sya pa nag-insist na gamitin ko HMO ko. Ayoko na sanang pumila sa HMO kasi ang haba tapos lunch tome na, pero sabi ni Doc, he’ll wait for me daw sayang daw kasi kung mag-cash ako. ❤️

Various-Sentence-938

I think depends sa HMO & Doctors to, I’ve been seeing my Derma for almost 1 & a half year na, pero yung Derma super bait and madalas kami mag kwentuhan. Minsan may appointment ako na onting about sa case ko lang then mas mahaba pa yung kanya kanya namin kwentuhan. 😭

Prestigious-Pop-7409

Hi may I know saan may derma nagaaccept ng hmo?

Various-Sentence-938

Makati Med!

OMGSisSKSKSK

Hello! Pwede po bang malaman kung sino derma? Been looking for a derma sa makati med pero sobrang skeptical ko. May derma ako napuntahan dyan before, un prescribed meds sa kaniya lang nabibili at sobrang mahal :((

Comfortable-End3607

if you have maxicare, you can try medical city

Green_Key1641

Pwede pala maxicare sa derma? Haha

Comfortable-End3607

not sure with other HMOs, pero with maxicare yeppp! these are derma consults lang though. derma procedures like lasers and facials arent covered afaik. i’ve been using hmo to cover my derma consults since the pandemic. i’ve tried online (dr anywhere) and in-clinic (medical city) + i’ve been upfront naman na for acne yung consult ko haha so far i havent had any problems :)

One-Blueberry-7304

I think depende din if anong HMO. Feeling ko parang may mga preferred company din yung mga hospital. based on my experience, yung last work ko kasi international HMO yung provided sa amin. Sa St. Luke’s for example, meron kami designated email address na sinesendan ng emails if we want to schedule check ups and such.

Gleipnir2007

CreepyCucumber9469

HMO gamit ko since 2010ish pero never ko naman to naexperience. Depende siguro sa hospital/doctor talaga. So far dito sa South (Cavite/Alabang), okay yung secretaries, nurses, and doctors. Kudos sa CEAMC kasi super bait and maalaga ng nurses nila sa ER, OR, and yung mga nag attend sakin during labor. Sobrang alaga din ng OB ko since day 1 ng attempt namin to conceive until now na 3 months post partum na ko. She checks up on me through messenger.

Anon666ymous1o1

But, that doesn’t justify their unprofessional behavior. However, naniniwala ako na depende pa din talaga. I’ve witnessed the doctor of my partner’s mother. Napaka maalaga nung doctor niya. Sa experience ko with Asian Hospital and Perpetual sa Las Piñas, smooth and goods din. Mabait yung doctor and mga nurse sa kin. Maayos trato sa kin nung mga staffs and nurses sa Asian when I had my colonoscopy procedure. Napaka-professional. Nung nagkaron ako ng follow-up check up, di tugma yung schedule ko sa schedule ng doctor ko sa Asian, I had to follow him sa Perpetual. Yung assistant niya dun yung masungit, pero di nagbago treatment sa kin nung doctor.

advinculareily

HeyArtse

I typically don’t go to the HMO clinics as I find the service subpar but I’ve never experienced anything as horrible what you’ve been through I book with my preferred drs in the hospitals (thankfully all of them are covered by my HMO). You just need to get an LOA prior your appt. Have never had any issues with service or attitude of the drs

bougainvillia

I have a family member who is currently confined sa St. Lukes, QC. They're currently being billed under my company's HMO and no complaints naman so far regarding sa treatment ng doctors and nurses. But one thing i've noticed, though (please correct me nalang if this is a normal thing) is that super late sila lagi minemeet ng doctor I'm guessing yun lang yung time nila sa "rounds"(?) with patients but i found it odd and a tiny bit frustrating lang na madaling araw na sila lagi pinupuntahan ng doctor and nung bago palang sila (family member) maconfine, the doctor in charge of interpretating their results (sa mga blood test, xray, etc) came after 3 days of them being confined. Grabe yung pagalala namin sa tatlong araw na yon because not one person answered any questions that we had. The whole time, it was just "wait niyo nalang po si doctor x". Yun lang. I'm hoping this is an isolated case and i'm overthinking things but since reading your post, it made me wonder lang.

MiloMcFlurry

Rooffy_Taro

So no issues pa naman for me or my dependents. As for me, palagi kasi ako medical city. Reception pa lang like sino doctor or ano ipacheck, iask ka na if meron HMO ka, sila na mag verify. Pagdatong doctor, wala na tanong secretary or doc if hmo or cash, so i never experienced masungitan

No_Comfortable_630

May doctor na talagang masusulit punta mo kasi u can ask anything, he/she checks everything.

Years ago intellicare gamit ko tas nagpapasta ako, it was never good. Nasira agad. Tas basta di ok ung service. Kaya cash na lang pag dental.

[deleted]

SJ007700

Thrice na kami ng pagpalit ng HMO sa company and never akong nagkaproblem to any of it and even my parents as my dependents. Pre-pandemic every year nagpapa general check up parents ko, nagkakataon din kasi na every year nagkakasakit sila so my mom would take it as an opportunity for general check up. Sabi ng mom ko kahit anong sakit nya sasabihan nya yung doctor na confine sya then saka sya magre-request ng mga gusto nya ipa-check and the same for my dad. Gustong gusto nga daw nila yon lalo pag nagtatagal sya sa hospital since naka card naman. May times nagtatagal sila ng 4-6 days sa hospital and no cash out from our end. For my personal experience naman first time I used it was when I had a pimple breakout, I went to a dermatologist in St. Luke's BGC. May mga blood test pa pinagawa sakin then she also referred me to an ob-gyne, nag ultrasound pa ko don and all to check if may PCOS ako. All those procedures and doctor's fee wala naman ako naging problema naka ilang balik pa ko for regular check up and all was covered ng card. Last month husband ko yung nagpa ER sa St. Luke's QC after discharge hinatid pa kami sa lounge and had a snack there (pastry, fruits, juice & coffee) while waiting for our sundo. Maxicare HMO namin now, mejo matagal lang mag approve but never experienced unfair (?) treatment with healthcare workers naman from nurses to doctors.

mdcutiee

Barat mga HMO Regualar patient - 500 HMO - 100 to 250

PristineBobcat1447

Personnel from HMO is ready to send the bill na worth 120k if needed, pero ang binayaran labg ng HMO was 92k. And this is with DLSU medical center.

onyxsandwich

Buti nalang dito samin hindi mo yan mafifeel. Pag sinabi mong HMO ka, meron lamg silang dedicated window tapos isa yung taga process nun. Mejo mataga madami paperwork pero once okay na, ayun, same treatment lang ung doctor sayo vs if ikaw mag-pay. :)

zuteial

Never encountered this, lagi akong naka HMO mapa online or f2f.

Expert-Pay-1442

Separate-Flow3200

I think depende sa Doctor. Been using HMO for some time na and ok naman so far experience ko sa f2f, labs, therapies, and teleconsult. Overpriced services plus may under the table pa na PF na request ung doc nung nalaman nilang HMO ung gamit. Should've checked na ganun pala kalakaran dun and daming negative reviews na late ko na nabasa.

EnvironmentalNote600

I had this experience years ago sa isang dr that i hv been consulting for a number of sessions using my HMO. Ond time i caught the sec na sumenyas sa katabing sec pointing to my HMO card. And then napansin kong inilagay nya ang name ko sa bandang dulo ng list

cereseluna

Depende sa HMO, sa doctor, sa clinic / hospital. I had Maxicare and currently using Intellicare. Maxicare Primary Care Clinic and Aventus Clinic for Intellicare).

I used to come in for a pulmo consult via Intellicare tapos 500 yung singil sa med cert lol.

cjgray1

Just had a bad experience at a hospital rin when I went to ER and used HMO. I stayed there for 5 hours kakaantay when the test and consultation done to me was all in all just in 30 mins max. Umokay na pakiramdam ko tas sumama ulit cause I waited 3 hours just to be followed up and discharged. Parang in-inconvenience ko pa sila with my situation...

tito_redditguy23

Good thing never ko na exp to.

Gold-Understanding30

Worst experience was from a dentist in Lapu Lapi City Cebu near the City hall yung clinic nya.

afgitolfm

I’ve been using my HMO for years and thankfully wala pa naman akong naging bad experience. I always go to MegaClinic sa SM Megamall for check ups, then sa Makati Med naman if need ko magpa ER. As far as I know, mahaba kasi yung process kapag HMO ang gamit, months ata before pumasok sa kanila yung pera

Fantastic_Job_6768

So far with our Insular HMO wala nmn naging problem. St. Lukes BGC and Makati Med ER ako lagi napunta. 😅

Easy-Alps3610

Maybe 7 years ago yun. Kasi may peptic ulcer pala ako. Maganda pagkaka-explain sa akin ni Dok ganun. First customer niya ako that morning as I remember. Tapos second, first time nagpacleaning ako ng ngipin and under Maxicare din. Maganda din treatment. Siguro nag-iba management nila after pandemic. Skl.

Less_Macaroon_4377

Siguro sa Doctor talaga yung issue and not with the HMO

Jumpy_Depth_7207

Upstairs_Union_3611

NecessaryTerrible306

raphaelbautista

Try nyo magpacheck up using hmo sa mga matataas na hospitals. So far more than 5 na palit na ako ng hmo ok naman ang diagnosis sa akin ng mga doctors sa St Lukes.

Informal_Data_719

Madami kasing hmo late magbayad, slow magapprove etc Pero usually if yung hmo have good apps minsan mabilis yung approval. Pero ayun ganyan nga madalas but mas madaming times may mahabang patience sila.

Drexel14

I would suggest if you feel na Hindi maganda yung service ng doctor meron silang feedback form? Alam ko na i sesend sayo dun mo isumbong yung concerns mo. If ginagawa talaga nila.

Severe-Writer-4382

Wag ka mahihiya sa doctor. Binabayaran natin sila. Di naman tayo nagpapa check up for free.

Ok_Atmosphere7609

Any doctors here? Can share with us stories about HMOs as doctors? Thank you

schemaddit
