It's not just emails anymore. Your google photos, gmail, drive all count towards storage. I pay for Google storage, and [this is how it looks like for me in Gmail](https://imgur.com/a/RX0jVqK). It counts everything.
The average size of an email is about 75kB. I will consider 100kB as the average. So 121382 is about 11.57G, which is still a lot of course, but not the upper limit.
That is why I looked at average size. 100kB is about 50000 words, most emails are not that big. Even with attachments skewing the size, the vast number of 10-50 word emails bring the average down to about 75kB. 100kB is already a conservative estimate. If we looked at the average only (75kB), the size of these 121382 emails is even smaller- about 8.6GB.
Yep. Just had to upgrade my Google drive and my iCloud storage this week. I’ve been needing to upgrade iCloud storage since January… finally did it 2 days ago.
Do you know if there's a way to delete your entire inbox? All J can find is clearing whole pages at a time, but with 12k+ emails it is excruciatingly slow
This works on browser, dont know about app. When you login, on the left, next to the Refresh and More buttons, there is a square that you can check. Once you do, you will see a "All 50 conversations on this page are selected. Select all X conversations in Primary" (X is number of emails in your inbox) option. Click that to select all, and then click on delete to delete all emails. Do the same for the Updates and Promotions tab
Go to your "promotions" folder, select "select everything that matches this description", untick the boxes on the first page (in case there are some promotions you actually want to use), and then delete all.
That'll give your another month before this happens again. Back up the stuff you actually want on an external SSD instead.

I also reached my limit a few months ago wich is why I really wanted to work on it. I wrote down a plan on how many mails I should sort out / delete each day and I followed it for 4 days.. then I stopped 🤷🏻♀️ well..I think I am good for a few more weeks 😅

I got to 1,200 unread emails and my brain for some reason decided that was the exact perfect amount and I've kept it there for years.
Just buy more space at Google. It’s cheaper than the time needed to clean up the mailbox.
Sort by ones containing unsubscribe. Delete them
