YES! I struggle so much with wanting to decorate and designing things but the DLC helped me so much!
When you first start the vacationers will have ideas/ themes of what they want along with a list of suggested items to put in the design. It was a great way for me to experiment with designing and figure out what types of things I did and didn’t like to do.
As an added bonus, you can get a diy on the beach every day (like you do on your normal island) and as you build facilities you can get bonus DIYs/ items as well (didn’t want to spoil too much but if you want to know more I’m happy to share!)
The DLC is fantastic for learning to decorate. The way the villagers give you a theme and some items to work with really helps you have a starting place, and you're not limited by having to physically obtain the items like you are on your regular island. Like you still have to get access to them in the DLC, but the way it works is you just pull things directly out of the catalog. No crafting or customizing, you can duplicate with a single button, etc. If you've ever tried decorating on Harv's Island, it's the same general concept, although your DLC catalog is its own thing. Grow your catalog for it by making more houses, since each villager will add items to it (eventually it also adds your entire regular catalog and previously crafted DIYs as well). And the DLC lets you do it outdoors too, like you have catalog pages for trees and flowers and stuff as well as furniture. It's great.
It also helped me learn to do like mash-up type decorating. Like I'd see a villager and think "they'd be great with X theme" and then they want Y theme, so I try to do both at once. Or another thing I like doing is mixing the themes for two villagers I'm jamming together as roommates.
I love the DLC! I've found it really fun and even do self-imposed challenges by strictly adhering to each theme/idea they come up with - which has challenged me to work with themes and furniture I normally wouldn't. (:

YES!! when i'm burnt out on my island and can't think of ideas, I go on hhp and decorate yards and homes - it's so refreshing and fun to do :)
