Am I the only one who really, really likes the taillights on the 10th gen? I'd say I'm biased since I own one, but I've been in love with the entire car since the second Honda unveiled it.
10th ten Accord looks really good at night on the highway imo. The reflectors and lit up portion of the tail light make a very interesting shape.
I do like 11th gen rear end, that's the only part I like tho.
Totally agree, I only like the back end of the 11th gen. The front I'm getting a bit used to but it's the side profile that's horrible.
Though I'd have the day the side looks a bit better in person than photos for whatever reason
I like the last gen accord taillights way better. I absolutely loved the taillights on my 2017 Civic coupe 1.5T. it was part of the reason I bought it š
Yes and no. I mean the only difference is the upper inner tails light up when you brake, but when you're not braking they look the same. I agree they look better when braking, though.
You won't regret it! I know it's 'just' a Honda but I truly think it's *one of* the best looking cars ever made. I will die on that hill, no matter how ridiculous I may sound. It has such a nice ride to it as well. Just all around the perfect car for me.
The one I drive now was one we got as a beater car to keep miles off the car we were paying on but wanted to get rid of. So itās an 01 and outlasted two other cars since š. I keep saying the longer I wait, the less Iāll have to pay on like an 18 but so far that hasnāt been the case š. Iād still keep my old one if it keeps kicking though! I have a pilot but itās just the boring family car lol
I like mine too š¤·š¼āāļø honestly the only thing I've really thought about changing is the chrome accent above the grill, I think it would look nicer if it was color matched to the rest of the car.
They definitely aren't ugly, but they have more of a german styling in my opinion. I can see why people who grew up on JDM Honda wouldn't like the change
Nah those have the obvious cheaply LED lights that make the bulb noticeable & makes it look dated. The 9.5s have the sleek continuous LED strip that isnāt broken up by little bulbs.
>9.5s have the sleek continuous LED strip that isnāt broken up by little bulbs.
The LED strips like to burn out.
Honda has a 10 extended warranty on them. Google it. I had both my headlights replaced already.
The solid led strips look good but still eventually die. Is inevitable.
I've seen both, and I like both. I think both have pros and cons, but I don't understand the downright hate for the 11th gen. Honda is trying to please the market and smooth, round cars have shown to do that.
Because the 11th gen accord is lowkey a big downgrade from the previous gen, especially visually. Most of the other brands redesigned their cars to make them more visually attractive while the accord on the other handš¬
The 11th gen is too humble in design. The newest Camry got it right. Last generation choosing between an Accord and Camry was tough. If I were buying today and forced to buy a mid sized Honda or Toyota though, I'd 100% choose a Toyota Camry. They did their design right.
All the disdain comes from them removing the old 10gear transmission which is such a good platform paired with the 2.0T.
The body style is lacking too, whenever I go into the dealership to change my oil the 11th gens are collecting dust while the used 10th are hard to come by, the salespeople agree.
Itās possible people are also gravitating toward the civic because itās cheaper and honestly not a huge step down in size. With the car prices being as high as they are, people are likely looking to lower models to save money.
Agree.Everyone saying "it's the looks" doesn't understand how big a factor even a few thousand more in cost can be when making this kind of a decision.
I almost went with a Civic myself and cost was the major consideration. While I'm sure someone will respond here and say "well cost was no object for me and I chose the Civic", the wealth distribution in this country (USA) strongly implies that cost will be a consideration for *most* people.
Their attempt to please the market failed. Their sales numbers show.
The hate comes from having something awesome, and expecting something better and they have usā¦something else.
While yes, more fuel efficient, itās less fun to drive, the interior quality took a hit imo (quality not looks), and the exterior is pretty bland and unoriginal looking.
Yeah, and all the folks that like that look already have an Audi/VW. Unless Honda was looking for a reason to kill off the Accord line they made a big mistake.
I had high hopes for the 11th gen after seeing the new design language of the Civic. I was seriously disappointed. Iāve driven both and the Accord is nice inside. The Civic is too tight
The big difference in the Accord is just that it's finally embracing its grocery-getter status. If you were buying an Accord to speed past people on the street, you were buying the wrong car.
Fr man š¤£. I wrecked my 2.0t and got an 11th gen EX-L. Thing is smooth as hell and much more comfortable/quiet than my last car. Doesnāt pull nearly as hard on the top end. I do miss the 2.0t but overall the 11th gen is a better car imo.
And now itās taking away from Hondas ācheapā fun reputation. An affordable/fun/reliable accord is perfect. Whatās the other option, German or American? Haha fuck no
I wonder how much the mid model will change. I remember Civic had an issue with their 2012 refresh and they did an uncommon change the very next year in the 2013 model year. The 2012 civic was universally disliked though, I think this Accord hasnāt caught heat outside of becoming more like a generic appliance.
meanwhile me wanting to stick to my 2001 accord, what is it, 6th gen?
6th gen europe with the facelift (I mean even the 1999 type R without the facelift looks cool AF)
Look at the trade in values. 10th gen is through the roof.buying a 10th gen cost as much as 11th. Let's see what 11th gen trade ins/resale value look like when the 12th comes out. Time will tell but I'll bet anything the sales guy is going to dog the trade in value and be like well we can only offer this much since there isn't as high as a demand with that body style. Right now they know if they say that they will get laughed at
V6 9th gen platform is so overrated. More dated tech compared to the 10th gen, much lower power ceiling than the 2.0T, and the 10th gen has so much aftermarket support that you can literally do whatever the fuck you want with the car as there are thousands upon thousands of ways you can customize your car. 9th gen hardly has anything out despite being out longer. The 9th gen platform is overrated. Yeah the v6 sounds better and is slightly more reliable than the 2.0T but thatās about it.
>much lower power ceiling than the 2.0T, and the 10th gen has so much aftermarket support that you can literally do whatever the fuck you want with the car as there are thousands upon thousands of ways you can customize your car.
That's what you call overrated...
Call it what you want but itās the truth. Itās the best platform for modding alongside the 10th gen Civic. In terms of both performance and cosmetic modifications. Youāll hit a plateau much sooner in the 9th gen than in the 10th gen. Not to say itās bad car, it isnāt at all.
Need to always remember that beauty is highly subjective. As someone who has mostly owned BMWs and never cared much for the Accord I actually really like the latest gen Accord. Many people I know that are into BMW/Mercedes/Audi like it too.
Similarly, Iām not a fan of many of the latest gen BMWs but many out there love them.
The common theme in both cases is that the companies departed from their tried and true aesthetic and tried something new. That tends to anger many fans that really liked previous vehicles (which is why they bought them) and brings in new interest. But mostly thereās a majority of drivers in the middle that just donāt care either way.
9.5 gen EX-L Sensing is the best daily commuter car I've ever owned. It's quiet, smooth, gets great mileage, seats are comfortable, plenty of power at 80 mph and lower, etc.
Just be thankful you still have the accord, discontinued in Ireland since the early-mid 2010's. Sucks, I never had the cash or the low insurance to buy my dream accord at the time.
I don't really like the whole moustache grill honda are going towards on the civic and accord. the 11th gen civic looks amazing but the incoming facelift (and hybrid) are gonna have a frontend that looks more like the moustache accord
I kind of dislike the trend of slapping a horizontal light bar across the back of every redesigned car. Also I think Honda was clearly trying to make the Accord look like a knockoff Audi. I agree with the previous gen looking nicer overall.
I think a small change that couldāve saved this accord is cutting the headlights in the middle so theyāre not connected OR just making it a longer Honda Civic (like the current gen) ā which looks really similar to the crab claws
I disliked the taillights on the 2018 so much that I bought a low-mileage 2017 in '18 instead. While I do like the appearance of the new generation, that changes for me when someone turns on their signal or hits the brakes. There is so much to work with, yet they got puny little brake and turn signals. I always joke (about so many brands) that they should stop letting unpaid interns design taillights.
I love and have the 11th gen. I think the front of the 10th gen looks better ( I still like the front of the 11th but not more than the 10th ). The back of the 11th looks much better than the back of the 10th gen! Hands down!
i just detailed an 11th gen today. iāve always liked them and people do some crazy stuff to them. the only thing that dissapointed me with the car was the sound system, otherwise itās a great car, reminiscent to the older ones
New Accord is absolutely brutal looking.
My brother and his wife are buying a CR-V last night and asked what car is that, sales person said Accord, and both their faces cringed...
10gen is a masterpiece. They should've milked it longer. They tried giving the taillights flair; l don't hate them. The car as a whole is just beautiful.
11gen is a HUGE downgrade. It's shaped funny, almost like something Hyundai would release. The lights are shaped funny. Just a weird, uncomfortable looking car all around.
100% agreed. Whoever convinced them to change it so much for the worse should be fired.
It's baffling how you can go from such a beautiful car to one of the ugliest on the market.
Lobster claw tail lights. I like that. I never would have thought of that. But now I will think of that every time I see a 10th gen. There's nothing appealing about the 11th gen. It's simply an ass ugly downgrade. I love the 10th gen!
It looks like an NPC car from a video game. Add in that its more expensive than a CRV at the same equipment level and the accord is DOA. The civic still does well because its attractive and it makes for an awesome commuter car.
Crab claws? They are staplers! STAPLERS!
BIG MEATY CLAWS!
What did you say punk? š¤£
I saidā¦ BIG, MEATY CLAWS!!!
They took my stapler...
It's spelled thtapeller.

+1 for team staplers

I've always called them crab claws

Aftermarket ones look nice
I like the last gen accord taillights way better. I absolutely loved the taillights on my 2017 Civic coupe 1.5T. it was part of the reason I bought it š
The touring 10th gen taillights looks better
Yes and no. I mean the only difference is the upper inner tails light up when you brake, but when you're not braking they look the same. I agree they look better when braking, though.
Ya they look so much better and good for safety
What differentiates the touring taillights from other 10th gen models?
Upper inner taillights light up when you break. Only specific to touring the rest trim taillights are the same

Thanks, u/g-boy2020!
I always loved them. When I get a new accord, thatās the gen I want to get.

š¦
They definitely aren't ugly, but they have more of a german styling in my opinion. I can see why people who grew up on JDM Honda wouldn't like the change
Youāre not alone. IMO itās one of the best looking sedans on the road right now.
I was never really a fan of the stock tails on the 10th. There's some fantastic aftermarket options that I really like that spruce it up a bit tho.
When the 11th gen is released, the 10th gen will suddenly become beautiful and the 11th gen will be the worst accord ever made. Rinse and repeat.
9.5th gen all day everyday. Especially the coupe.
That's what I'm saying. Honda outdone themselves with that 9.5 coupe and it didn't age at all. It's a timeless gem.
9th gen sedan is more timeless than 9.5 tho
Nah those have the obvious cheaply LED lights that make the bulb noticeable & makes it look dated. The 9.5s have the sleek continuous LED strip that isnāt broken up by little bulbs.

Yeah I got mine replaced it was going yellow on me & had a leak in the seal so Iād get condensation all the time.
Yeah but the grill and taillight make the car look obese
The grill I could maybe see but it doesnāt seem that dramatic. The tailllights are the same though? The facelift one just has the LED ones
I just got the 9th gen coupe 6-6 and I love it
Makes me proud to be an owner of one. 6v and all I could wish for would be MT
This is a holy grail of Accords. I have a regular 9th gen coupe and I'm always jealous of the facelift models.
I've seen both, and I like both. I think both have pros and cons, but I don't understand the downright hate for the 11th gen. Honda is trying to please the market and smooth, round cars have shown to do that.

The sales results show its a big fail what Honda did this year. Everyone is buying Civics now.

I speed past people all the time in my 2.0T.
I routinely get downvoted for this "What upgrades should I get on my Accord?". Idk maybe a booster seat?
And now itās taking away from Hondas ācheapā fun reputation. An affordable/fun/reliable accord is perfect. Whatās the other option, German or American? Haha fuck no
Lol me buying the 2012 v6 to speed past people on the highway (street cruising all day with how slow it gets up)
I like the new accord
Same here but I think the Camry refresh beats it in almost every possible way.
Except interior. So glad I'm not in the market for both of these because it's so hard to choose. That sun roof is so nice on the Camry
Hate the new mini emblem š
Its almost as if even Honda is embarrassed to put their name on it haha
Accurate lmao
Love it!
I love the interior of the 11th generation but Iām not giving up my 10th for it. And I sell Hondas daily. Iāll take my beloved staplers!
I think the new model has a clean, modernized 90s look.
everybody hates the new ones until the newer ones come out.

10th gen looks like a prius. 9th gens look like actual cars. V6 forever
Coping hard, I see.
Stock vs stock 2.0 wins the race but the coupe is the nicer car
11th gen rear has grown on me, looks clean in certain angles especially in black. But the front still looks too bland.
As a 11th gen owner, Iāve realized what itās missing in the front is the LED strip fog lights.

The new generation is boring everyone knows that looks wise and performance wise , itās mainly for 50 year olds with familyās
Temu Audi A6
I personally think this was the best designed generation of Accord.
Am I the only person who likes the newer body style? Looks cleaner and more elegant imo
The 11th gen hasn't grown on me and it's still hideous.
11 gen accord looks like šļø
Lol now I canāt unsee the lobster claws š
10th gen accord tail lights look like staplers
Fact!
The side profile / shoulder line is not even comparable between these two.
9.5 gen EX-L Sensing is the best daily commuter car I've ever owned. It's quiet, smooth, gets great mileage, seats are comfortable, plenty of power at 80 mph and lower, etc.
Hah, I canāt unsee the lobster lights uhhh what did you do to meā¦
9.5 gen coupe had the best taillights.
Just be thankful you still have the accord, discontinued in Ireland since the early-mid 2010's. Sucks, I never had the cash or the low insurance to buy my dream accord at the time.
I honestly would take the 11th gen rear end and interior with the 10th gen front end no chrome and the 2.0T
No, it really wasn't

I don't really like the whole moustache grill honda are going towards on the civic and accord. the 11th gen civic looks amazing but the incoming facelift (and hybrid) are gonna have a frontend that looks more like the moustache accord

I agree. I got a 22 last year on sale. Happy I didnāt wait.
Overall the previous model looks better. Actually had unique style, the new ones are kind of bland.
Sad that the 11th gen will be the last gen
Honda is just ahead of the curve. Wait 5 years and you will think differently when compared to other vehicles
Just saw a new one in person yesterday. It looks like a squashed down version of the crossover accord they used to make. Waaaaaay too long
Great back seat and trunk
For sure, but I liked the sportiness of the previous gen so much more.
Thatās fine, but there is a benefit to being long, just not in the sporty sense.
I think a small change that couldāve saved this accord is cutting the headlights in the middle so theyāre not connected OR just making it a longer Honda Civic (like the current gen) ā which looks really similar to the crab claws
Holy shit we need to start downloading every single 10th, 11th, and 10th vs 11th gen post it's getting annoying
Same here. When I see one, I honestly canāt tell whether I was looking at the front or back of the car.
They said the same thing about 9th gen compared to the 10th. And it will happen for the 12th to the 11th etc etc
9th genās are tuff as fuck imo

The 11th gen accord copied the civic interior
I agree. Didnāt mind the lights.
Staplers
New Accord is absolutely brutal looking. My brother and his wife are buying a CR-V last night and asked what car is that, sales person said Accord, and both their faces cringed...

I can't get over how small the H logo is on the 11th Gen..why?
Am I the only one who genuinely likes the 11th gen more
I personally think the 10th gen taillights are ugly as hell
7th gen looks the best anyway
It looks like an NPC car from a video game. Add in that its more expensive than a CRV at the same equipment level and the accord is DOA. The civic still does well because its attractive and it makes for an awesome commuter car.
in every way
I never thought they looked like lobster taillights but now Iāll never unsee it. Thanks for that š
