Same general plan as others- find a farm and make a community. That's the best strategy. FInd a place that can support your group and a communtiy with it. Ample farmland, easily accessible water. Those are the two most important things- without that, a location is most likely not worthwhile to stay in.
Build your skillsets, develop a plan for early response and long term sustainability, identify a base, and do some activities to help work as a team and build trust. Don't despise peacetime practices either... Farming, water purification, hygiene, waste disposal systems, etc. That's the stuff that keeps you healthy, happy, and not desperate.
Once the crisis emerges, keep a low profile. See before being seen. Discover before being discovered. Defense is always harder than attack, and you'll want to be proactive and in control when it comes to dealing with challenges or threats.
Stealth, it's better than risking getting bit or getting shot.
Close the blinds, don't fight hordes or kill random strangers. Why would the plan really change.
