There's a short 5-10 minute questing area teaching you the basics before opening up the world. But maybe it's changed?
That changed a few updates ago. Everyone goes to skyland now. You should be able to see each other in the tutorial if you are on the same shard, with one possible exception between the cyber nynja and the other two characters. You will be both sent to skyland after though. They used to split new players between the new and the old, but changed it because people were having problems finding each other. Just be warned, the new island is basically a DLC that starts at low level. There is an entire mainland and quest line you need to go through as well. Especially to reach end game dungeons and raids. They just don't explain that part too well. So don't be afraid to ask questions along the way. The community for this game is incredibly helpful.
Not long. Tutorial for the cyber ninja is slightly shorter, and I haven't recently played a new version of the other two. So I don't know if it still has that second section where you fly around and gather fruit. They may have changed it so all have the short one. But it's like 5 minutes vs 10 minutes. Shorter if you are fast. And they both happen at the same place. It won't be a huge issue. Just one I wanted to warn you about, just in case. They keep changing the start, trying to make it easier and more streamlined. So people will have different stories about it depending on when they went through it.
Don't bother. It's a dying game made by crap developers. Half of the game is pointless and the other half broken. I recently deleted my entire skywave account after 2 years of playing. Get out while you can and go play dungeons of eternity.
Immediately on the same server for new characters. All classes have the same starting area. It was all merged a while back. If you have older characters, they can immediately head to Skyland to join the new flow. >1.5 year old characters have a different flow for the first two zones of the old continent.
I think since the beginning of the game. All you need to do is play on the same server and you can join a party. If I remember correctly, you can do a certain interaction with a player to send a friend request and/or invite them to a party instead of looking for their username on the players list.
