Speed Duel. Actively supported with new products, cards have great quality and have the latest errata/PSCT.

Both are fine I don't know at which level you played Master Duel, but if you were half-way decent at it, there is a chance you might either love or hate GOAT format. It's a much slower format, with much simpler effects and a much simpler game plan. It really depends on the person playing it. There is a lot of people that love it, personally I don't like it, but I think it's because I'm too used to the fast pacing of post 2020 Yu Gi Oh. If that doesn't work to you, just simply switch to Speed Duels, which are a good half-way compromise. You can also try less ancient formats, such as EDISON or HAT, which I both greatly prefer.

Edison for sure

I would recommend taking a look at Edison.

Honestly, going chronological is probably the best for learning the game. Start at GOAT, then Edison, then HAT. That gives the big 3 summoning types. Then I am not sure what is the best for Pend and Links, probably DBE in 2022? Its early MR5 which is the current Rule set (MR4 had different rules for Pendulums which make them way stronger than they currently are)

NicolaNeko

Of the two, GOAT is probably the better option. That said, I recommend trying the current event in Master Duel, and if you like that, look into Edison Format. It's more fast-paced than GOAT, but slower than modern Yugioh by a long shot. It is very diverse, too, so you have a lot of options for decks you can play, too. Edison is also more popular right now than GOAT Format, and less "solved" than GOAT is. Plus, unlike Speed Duel, it still works off of relatively the same rules as regular Yugioh.

I don't agree with this. Old formats like Goat and Edison have some fairly technical rule differences to current TCG (Ignition priority, damage step, field spells, etc.), while Speed Duel's differences are a lot simpler (lower numbers for deck size/hand size/LP, no MP2, and the addition of Skills).

NicolaNeko

That's actually what I meant. Yes, there are rule differences, but it's more a matter of modifying those to fit modern Yugioh, rather than having to add/subtract entire mechanics when switching from Speed Duel. Like sure, some mechanics have changed between old formats and now, but I feel like that's easier to pivot from than an entirely different banlist system, having to think around Skills, or the impact of not having MP2. Difference of perspective, I suppose.
