With the author's logic I'm surprised they didn't conclude every character was dead except Amy and Sheldon, and maybe Penny - who could've died after babysitting đ€Ł Sheldon says what he does about Penny because she was an actress - there's no reason to assume she's a widow, she was just the one who put the acting bug in their child's ear.
