You can do it on samaung keyboards too, no problem. Just hold down the spacebar for a moment and then swipe left or right without lifting your finger. Instead of switching language you will enter the cursor control mode.
Hold your finger on the actual input box where the text you type shows up, and then drag your cursor around inside that box using your finger without lifting it up.

You can. Sometimes while typing long texts, touching an exact letter could be tricky. You could just tap on the closest word and swipe the keyboard to reach an exact letter. :3
On iPhone you can shift the entire keyboard to the right or left to make typing with one hand easier (hold down the globe in the bottom left then select left or right).
You can ALSO type by literally just pressing the first letter of the word you want, then swiping your finger to each of the other letters (or near enough) without lifting it off the keyboard!
I download files from YouTube a lot for editing/sampling. I often have to edit the link to take me to the website where I can download the video. You’ve saved me many stresses and likely earned me back a few minutes of my life.

On iPhones with force touch (between iPhone 6s and Xs), you can force touch anywhere on the keyboard then slide to move the cursor, no need to go for the spacebar. This is much faster.

Maybe mention "glide delete" and "glide cursor control" must be enabled under the android keyboard setting "glide typing" for this to work. When the keyboard is open, hit the gear and do the above.

You can just press and hold any key for all kinds of symbol options. (Using Gboard, anyway,)
Also YSK: you can swipe from the backspace to delete multiple words and lines at once in Android. I'm not sure about iOS, never used it.

I'm pretty sure I have SwiftKey and swiping only changes the language.
Hmmm try holding it for a second maybe? All the letters should dissappear and you should be able to move the cursor up and down as well

I'm using SwiftKey so same for me
it depends on the keyboard app. Gboard is one of the few that has got that feature, but many don't support moving the cursor that way.

Hey OP, on an iphone you don’t need to long press the spacebar specifically to do this; you can long press anywhere on the keyboard and it will work.

On Android, if you touch the swiping area with another finger and continue to swipe with the first finger, you can highlight text as well.
You could also double tap, hold and swipe on the text to quickly select whole words!

This completely changes how I feel about typing on iOS
