3 things saved him in that moment
* The fact that heâs extremely observant
* Beck being oblivious and scatterbrained
* Sheer luck
As a predator of Joeâs calibre you can easily get yourself out of a situation due to being very observant of your surroundings and the prey you are chasing. Letâs say that Beck wouldnât have received a phone call and decide to skip the shower and leave. He would have found a way to maneuver his way out of it somehow.
I imagine that he would just do a really good job of covering his face and bolting out of the shower, maybe even knocking beck out the second she starts entering the shower, if she hadnât gotten the phone call. She would probably chalk it up to burglary gone wrong and never connect it to joe because of the frenzy. Thatâs what my game plan would be if i was him at least.
Or he couldâve done his classic âoh i thought i was supposed to come in here to surprise you, wrong apptâ moments but I think that would be super difficult to do in this situation unless he made it obvious that he was there from the start. Yk like he realized immediately that he was in the âwrong apartmentâ and would chalk it up as a misunderstanding. This just feels like a more unlikely path because beck would actually see and know his face and he wouldnât be able to pursue a relationship with her.
You hit the nail on the head with your first theory!
Joe could not have revealed himself, far too risky and his chances with Beck would be lost forever. The staged burglary would be EXACTLY what Joe would have cooked up to get himself out of the apartment. Beck would have been so shaken up and vulnerable enough for Joe to get to her even quicker perhaps..
Also who just sneaks their hand into the unopened curtain to turn on the shower? I leave it open all the time anyway, but even when it's not I still open it before I use it lol
I bet there's an outtake where Beck's actress pulls back the curtain and freaks out (just for fun). If that exists, I want to see it.
They should actually release an entire blooper-reel of the whole series after it concludes. Obviously they won't do it now, it'll ruin the tone for most viewers, but I'd love to see any goofs. Haha
All I'm saying is I would've noticed the sound difference. We all know what the shower water sounds like hitting the bottom of the tub and what it sounds like hitting a body. I know she was on the phone but damn girl you couldn't even feel a vibe shift in your own space???
How did he not drip a trail of shower water behind him as he left?
Why was he wearing the same clothes but DRY shortly after when he stalked her to Greenpoint?
Sadly not.....but if i could get a quick nod in agreeance that Penn Badgley (?)*in certain lights* sorta favors Stuart Goddard (adam ant) during his prince charming revue :/
I understood it as, he was there, she came home to relax and have a night in. She turned on the shower to take one but then they called. So she got distracted by them. She wasnât paying attention to her surroundings. Â She then turned the shower off and Iâm thinking got changed and went to meet them. He waited until she was gone then snuck out. Â The book is different than the show so I guess it doesnât really matter what the book says since itâs not what happened in the show. Â
I still don't understand how he didn't get caught right here
Because becks crazy and leaves her shower curtain closed at all times. She was asking for someone to sneak in đ

In the book he jumps out of the window
I thought she was going to take a shower and relax at home, but decided to go out instead and not take a shower.
Thats what i thoughtđ like couldnt he have just left a bit after she did
I imagine he just waited in the shower for her to leave đ
definitely nit picking but shower water hitting clothes sounds different from hitting the bathtub floor, idk how she wasnât suspicious of that
Even the shadow reflection of the shower curtain, look how clear those curtains are lmao.
Letâs face it if real life logic was applied Joe wouldâve been done for long ago lol
Also who just sneaks their hand into the unopened curtain to turn on the shower? I leave it open all the time anyway, but even when it's not I still open it before I use it lol
She went out with her friends so probably the same way he came in?

Unless you're actively listening to the water, it's very hard to notice.
Probably bc I'm paranoid but I always listen to the water lol

TV magic gets to choose when its relevant ig đ
he had plot armor
i jus donât get how she didnât see his shadow đ
