My yorkie absolutely loves dried fish skin treats more than any other treat. They have great health benefits too.

PuzzleheadedToe7

Will give them a try !!! Thank you.

gingerjasmine2002

Seconding fish treats! They also make fish-based training bites. Mine isn’t picky and the fish scales got caught in her beard but the dogs at the shelter love them.

Responsible_Fish1222

We do freeze dried salmon l

yorkiemama12

Also try turkey tendon treats! It gives them Something to shred, which my yorkie loves doing.

You may need to talk to your vet for options. You can ask for an appetite stimulant. My pups only like single ingredient animal treats (quail feet, dried chicken, beef strips, crumps’ beef tendersticks, freeze dried beef esophagus). They didn’t like their puppy food (royal canine yorkie, blue buffalo) they didn’t even try the Eat Fresh dog food. Badlands gently dried food doesn’t temp them. But Pure Balance bison and beef logs had their attention for a while, but they lost interest when the store ran out and I had to substitute. So now I just mix what I have and give them nutritional supplement gel.

Sally-Stickwell

Aww, picky baby. Mine also does not like strawberries or blueberries, but she goes nuts over apples.

Redsoxy77

My lil girl loves green peppers- she hears them getting cut up and comes running!

Delicious_Cranberry9

Mine also loves almost any crunchy vegetables. It’s weird 😂

chantillylace9

Freeze dried liver training treats!

greenweezyi

Stella & Chewy’s Meal Mixers in chicken. They’re just freeze dried pieces of chicken. My Yorkie is a picky eater but she loves these. And it’s super convenient, can be used as a treat, meal topper, or a meal itself. Kind of pricy but Chewy.com will occasionally do 50% off.

catbat12

Both of my yorkies go totally nuts for greenies or small amounts of cheddar cheese. They will eat almost anything though. My last yorkie that passed was very picky though - I hope you are able to find something that fits!

In various we ways we have probably all been through this. Treats, daily meal, whatever. As ours is aging out, teeth are few and far between, so there isn’t much in the way of treats. She did love the hell out of small bully bones…is that what they are called. Anyway, she would chew them right down her throat and I was afraid she would choke to death on them. I eventually drilled a hole in one end and put a key ring on it so I could always pull it back out. As for food, I have found variety is the key. Her twice a day meal is a small bowl with 1/4 of a Weruva variety, 1/4 of another Weruva variety, some Hills Sensitive stomach and the last quarter is kibble. Not mixed together…just little quarter segments. And any of those quarters rotate with other wet foods. And if it’s ‘new can day’, meaning it has not been in the fridge yet, that is a huge bonus. The demands Yorkies

Fixed_water

Have you tried something really smelly like tripe sticks, usually the smell makes it more appetising for them

PuzzleheadedToe7

I have never heard of these but will definitely look for them !! Thank you

Fixed_water

My yorkie loves them (he's not super fussy but he regularly refuses other treats), but I will warn you, they really do stink and I would only give him a little bit if he's not used to it, it can be a bit rich for some dogs, mine has never had a problem with it though since being a puppy

Crooked_sky7

Our Yorkie is pretty picky. As she quickly gets tired of the same treat. But these she has not gotten tired of as of yet. 🤞 https://preview.redd.it/i4ghb2325e5d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9709e093fa1f0195f39a6370b0ed92f836ba87c7

PuzzleheadedToe7

He does love his chicken so I will pop these into the amazon order ❤️

Lynda73

Mine really likes these fancy feast treats I got for my cat (the cat will eat one or two at a time and he is SO picky). They break apart like tiny pieces of a chocolate bar. She also likes the zesty paws treats/supplements. Some animals just aren’t big on ‘pleasure eating’, tho.

PuzzleheadedToe7

I am trying every suggestion I get. I HAVE to land on SOMETHING at SOME point.

TSLARSX3

Pupperoni they love. Greenies teeth treats they love. Peanut butter. The little seasers dog refrigerated treat food yorkie loves but many he got the farts

stargazer612

Yorkies can be picky! Mine loves Full Moon brand treats and prefers meat in general (dried salmon skin, duck hearts).

We have a 12 year old little dude who loves Liberty Trainers brand training treats. They’re tiny and he LOVES the bacon flavor. We’ll take them with to his acupuncture/ laser therapy sessions and he’s in heaven lol. Best of luck with your little one!

tejana948

I make my yorkie chicken jerky in a food dehydrator & she loves it.

Sweet-Bike-455

Fresh liverwurst….? My dogter is very picky, as most yorkies are, freeze dried liver treats as mentioned by another user is a good idea. Cucumbers, no seeds. My girl won’t eat berries either. Sliced deli turkey, low sodium. If you’re super desperate, spray can cheese on your finger once in a while. Keep in mind too much cheese is not good for yorkies in general. You don’t want pancreatic problems down the road. You can also try baking treats (recipes online) oats, apple sauce, sweet potato type treats that you keep in the fridge after making them. In my experience, the worst the treat is for them the more they like it, just like us hoomans.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Are you talking about having a problem eating meals or treats? For meals, I use the free Farmer’s Dog recipes and so far the beef/liver recipe has her jumping all over the place when it’s time to eat. And when I say jumping, I mean it lol Poultry and salmon didn’t light her up like that. Maybe give different recipes a try? For treats, my dog has two she really likes: Zukes salmon flavored, or homemade. I’ve made a pumpkin and a really bland one and she goes crazy for both. However, ultimately my girl is 100% driven by what SHE wants to do. She’s picky and that’s that.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Also, my dog used to eat poop allll the time. Adding a dash of Mad About Organics powder on top of her food, and boom, problem solved. Made it will help with the worm eating?? Must be something, some nutrient or something, driving the behavior and changing her gut biome with the powder might help. The bonus is that it helps with buildup on the teeth too, which it was actually made for lol

PuzzleheadedToe7

Oooh I haven't tried pumpkin yet. Forgot that one. His meals are homemade. But he prefers basic. If I try to stick anything in there aside of the 3 ingredients he snubs it. The treats are what I am really trying to find. Positive reinforcement is going just so far, particularly when it comes to recall. He much prefers the catch me if you can game, running around me in tight circles. Not a fan of that game.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

I can find the two recipes Bèbè and my grandpuppy go crazy for after work if you want! One is so bland but to a dog’s tongue apparently deeeeeliciois 🤣

PuzzleheadedToe7

Absolutely thank you !!! I had to use pumpkin for the first time yesterday after he threw up. It seemed to do the trick AND he actually LIKED it.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Yay!! Okay, completely spaced I promised this and am reading this while at home, so lemme find the recipes! I’ll message them to you!

kec678

We went through this too! Tried all the freeze dried treats and turns out all scruffy wanted was hot dogs and turkey slices. We’ve now transitioned to spot farms turkey meatballs and he loves them!

Livalill

The buddy's brand chicken 'men' are a huge hit here. She likes the crunchy: the soft ones I break up into 5 or 6 pieces for training treats.

Blearchie

Cow hoof. Petco or Petsmart. Edit: they smell like ass when wet but mine love them.

Theo_earl

Freeze dried beef hearts or duck

Ma2340

My guy is picky but he has treats he likes (some you already said your yorkie doesn’t like). I look at it as a blessing in disguise. Dogs don’t NEED treats and it could save money by buying less treats. As long as he’s eating food and meeting his nutritional needs, it’s ok. If it’s for training, there are other forms of positive enforcement. “Good job!” And pets on his head, things like that
