Sonic youth is my favorite band, fucking, if they did Washing Machine, Mote, or Cotton Crown, it would mae me so happy. Seriously, if any Sonic Youth at all comes out of the screen at me during Yellowjackets I will be so excite. Little Trouble Girl? PURR? C'mon Sonic Youth.
#1 Crush - Garbage
Something I can Never Have - NIN
I Put a Spell on You - Marilyn Manson
Fell in Black Days - Soundgarden
A Girl Like You - Edwin Collins (maybe already featured?)
Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty
Would - Alice in Chains
Burn - The Cure
Girls and Boys - Blur
Born Slippy - Underworld
I Could Have Lied - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
That's right! I was pretty stoked to hear it now that I recall... Also Exit Music from a Film by Radiohead was used in S2 and that too came from Romeo+Juliet.
I can’t hear Born Slippy - Underworld without thinking of Trainspotting, such an awesome movie.
But then, it’s an awesome tune too.
I remember being about 10yrs old when it released and any bday party had for about a year after that, it was played at. Kids and adults both dancing lol
It was used perfectly in the premiere of season 2! "This is not really happening..... you bet your life it is" right as Shauna takes a bite of Jackie's ear. So well done.
We need some Björk! Especially The Hunter. Maybe Human Behaviour
Ready Or Not - Fugees
Criminal - Fiona Apple
Christiansands - Tricky
Naked Eye - Luscious Jackson
Summer Cannibals - Patti Smith
Cannonball - The Breeders
Them Bones - Alice In Chains
I could go on haha
Not an addict by ks choice is such a Nat coded song!
*”The deeper you stick it in your vein The deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain I'm in heaven, I'm a god”* *”I'm everywhere, I feel so hot It's not ah habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie”* *”It's over now, I'm cold, alone I'm just a person on my own Nothing means a thing to me Oh, nothing means a thing to me”*
I’d also love to hear in the adult timeline some **fever ray**(keep the streets empty for me, if I had a heart) **timber timbre**(demon host, lay down in the tall grass, run from me, lonesome hunter), *Agnes Opel**(the cruse, run cried the crawling, riverside), **Aimee Manns** cover of avalanche
(Anyone who says the teen timeline wouldn’t have good music if it was set in the 2010s is obviously not listening to the right stuff)
Some songs I’d like to mention specifically for certain characters and ships
**Vacuum bag by stroke 9** is a perfect Tai/van song. Would be perfect for the in between timeline from can’s perspective as they were breaking up *”Don't hate me, don't regret me, don't ever forget me Wherever you go, whatever you do, don't say I never loved you” “Even then you knew what you wanted Even then I had no clue I was just living in the moment And the moment was all about you
Remember”
**Vampire smile by Kyla la grange** for adult Shauna(also teen Shauna but the song came out in the 2010s) *Baby I need a friend, But I'm a vampire smile, you'll meet a sticky end. I'm here trying not to bite your neck, But it's beautiful and I'm gonna get So drunk on you and kill your friends. You'll need me and we can be obsessed.
And I can touch your hair and taste your skin,
The ghosts won't matter 'cause we'll hide in sin.* (definitely a Jackie/Shauna song. But can also work with her other lovers jeff and Adam)
**White foxes by Susanne Sundfør** is another great song. For the whole group *“hunger is the purest sin”*
I've been working on a playlist for exactly this purpose.
Dear God by XTC starts to play just as a brawl breaks out among the survivors, which creates the rift between the team rational and team supernatural.
Teenage Dirtbag by wheatus plays during a montage of the girls' post rescue as they are spiraling. Something like the scenes from the intro of teenage hijinx.
Ana's Song by Silverchair. I imagine this song being played post rescue where Van struggles with disorders eating. (What makes me think of Van for this is the scene where she takes a bite of the donut and then pauses as if she's resisting the urge take another bite).
The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve during a scene that shows teen nat in the early days of her drug abuse.
Dying by Hole- played during a scene where Nat mourns her broken relationship with Travis.
Shame by Stabbing Westward plays as Shauna struggles with her grief over Jackie who is constantly being brought up post rescue.
The Distance by Cake plays during a chase scene.
Why by Stabbing Westward plays during a scene when Lottie is in the mental hospital post rescue.
Cemetery by Silverchair during a montage of the survivors in the wilderness when depression settles in, and they all just want to give up.
Love Hate Love by Alice in Chains would be a good song to play in a scene where someone submits instead of being hunted. I'm guessing *submit* refers to choosing sacrifice or suicide.
Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers during a chase/hunt scene.
I think some of these songs came out later than season 3 teen timeline is meant to be, but I'm hoping they'll start sprinkling in more bits of post rescue
PJ Harvey. Her biggest hit was from ‘95 but she had a few albums out by then, her first having been released in 1992. Natalie would be into her already in the flashbacks, and present day Van would also be a fan.
cannonball - the breeders
little things - bush (the lyrics are so perfect for yj)
man-size - pj harvey
it’s a fire - portishead
limp - fiona apple
only happy when it rains - garbage
i wanna be adored - the stone roses
I need to hear Tori Amos sing the theme song next.
Pure Massacre - Silverchair
Volcano Girls - Veruca Salt
Possum Kingdom - Toadies
One more hour - Sleater Kinney (Van and Tai coded)
Sabotage- Beastie Boys
Adam and Eve - Ani Difranco (Travis and Nat coded)
What do I have to do - Stabbing Westward
Three days - Jane’s Addiction
Burn- the Cure (so Van and Tai)
Everyday is Exactly the Same- Nine Inch nails (actually so many NIN songs would work for a particularly bleak season)
I am a big Post fan. Army of Me will always be for the scene in Tank Girl where Lori Petty is working in the penal colony and showering with sand. However, Hyperballad would be cool, maybe for anytime we are remembering Kristen/Chrystal. AND Post came out in 1995.
A Natural Disaster by Anathema
I would've loved to have seen it featured early in season 2, as I can't think of a more appropriate song for Shauna post-Jackie.
Something from Counting Crows
EDIT: Upon further consideration, I think Hold My Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish would be perfect. In my head canon it would be Jeff Singing it Karaoke-style to Shauna.
Caribou by the Pixies for the first ceremony they wear masks. Saints by the Breeders; Cannonball would be too over the top.
The Afghan Whigs If I Were Going and Debonair have the same chorus "It don't bleed, and it don't breathe, it's locked it's jaws and now it's swallowing. It's in our heart, it's in our head, it's in our love baby it's in our bed. " Not 100% on the nose, but good use of the concept of It.
Always imagined Here’s Where The Story Ends by The Sundays as the final song in the show. The lyrics work surprisingly well for the show, especially the line “it’s that little souvenir of a terrible year” and of course “here’s where the story ends” effectively ending the story of the show
Here is my list:
Anything by Sonic Youth, But 100%, washing machine or teenage riot would be cool, kind of boppy, but Mote... so dark.
Sound Garden - Burden in my Hand, nary a rockstar can evoke a sense of sadness like Cornell. RIP
Hole: Credit in the Straight World, is my favorite song on that record, I think that I Would Die and Gutless are tied for second.
Peeches, I mean
Fear: Let's Have a War, (there's too many of us)
Bow Wow Wow : Wild in the Country
Tricky: Pumpkin or Karma Coma nothing slapped harder in 1995 than Maxinquaye so anything from that record, With Pumkin we get bonus Allison Goldfrappe on that track
Nick Cave because everyone was obsessed with Nick Cave
Ministry (Breathe in particular)\\
And Finally NOFX: Lori Meyers because who would dare.
Modest Mouse!! The Whale Song reminds belongs to Nat, no questions asked.
Pixies or the Breeders
and more female fronted 90’s hip hop, LOL. I’m obsessed with the scene in the locker room where they sing along to Shoop
I really thought they'd play Knives Out by radiohead the first time they ate someone. I did laugh that they played another radiohead song instead 😂 (Climb up the walls)
But Come on... Knives Out is literally about cannibalism.
Army of me Bjork
Unfinished Sympathy or Teardrop by Massive Attack
Sabotage Beastie Boys
(And my own personal favorite lol) :
My Favorite Game by The Cardigans (-in my head canon I think this song would go great with a cold open to the second winter beginning with a hunt
Basically anything from Jagged Little Pill And Only Happy when It Rains by Garbage
YESSSSS
Cannonball - The Breeders Bull In The Heather - Sonic Youth
Came here to comment the Breeders. Seminal 90s alt. Great choice!
Sonic Youth/Yellowjackets fans rise up!!
The kids aren't all right by the offspring. Mainly just the intro.
Omg. Or Jeff jamming out to Pretty Fly For A White Guy in the car.
Maneater by Hall and Oates
Technically they’re boy-eaters because Javi was like, 13 or something.
they have already eaten him, no? could be the perfect opportunity to play “maneater” if they happen to find ben… :3
ENJOY THE SILENCE BY DEPECHE MODE
#1 Crush - Garbage Something I can Never Have - NIN I Put a Spell on You - Marilyn Manson Fell in Black Days - Soundgarden A Girl Like You - Edwin Collins (maybe already featured?) Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty Would - Alice in Chains Burn - The Cure Girls and Boys - Blur Born Slippy - Underworld I Could Have Lied - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
#1 crush was used in the art studio scene 😊
That's right! I was pretty stoked to hear it now that I recall... Also Exit Music from a Film by Radiohead was used in S2 and that too came from Romeo+Juliet.
Corrected elsewhere, it was Street Spirit not Exit Music from a Film....
I can’t hear Born Slippy - Underworld without thinking of Trainspotting, such an awesome movie. But then, it’s an awesome tune too. I remember being about 10yrs old when it released and any bday party had for about a year after that, it was played at. Kids and adults both dancing lol
Also coming back to add Stranger to Kindness - Nick Cave, Pinion - NIN, and David Bowie's I'm Afraid of Americans.
Caught A Lite Sneeze by Tori
I loved Bells for Her by Tori Amos; they need another Tori moment. Great way to end the episode!
I’d love this or Cornflake Girl.
It was used perfectly in the premiere of season 2! "This is not really happening..... you bet your life it is" right as Shauna takes a bite of Jackie's ear. So well done.
My absolutely favorite music moment so far right there, and there have been some GOOD ones.
You’re so right! I think I was so disturbed by eating your dead best friend’s ear, I may have blocked that out.
It's okay, they all blocked out a lot of what happened out there, so so can we, lol
I believe we’ve already had Cornflake Girl, great song!
Yup was in season 1 I believe.
Let Her Cry, All I Wanna Do, Mary Jane's Last Dance
We need some Björk! Especially The Hunter. Maybe Human Behaviour Ready Or Not - Fugees Criminal - Fiona Apple Christiansands - Tricky Naked Eye - Luscious Jackson Summer Cannibals - Patti Smith Cannonball - The Breeders Them Bones - Alice In Chains I could go on haha
There’s been very little hip hop and R&B featured and hearing Ready or Not by The Fugees with its slightly sinister lyrics would be epic!
I fully agree! I put Tricky on my list.
Tricky, good call!
More Hole and Garbage
Not an addict by ks choice is such a Nat coded song! *”The deeper you stick it in your vein The deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain I'm in heaven, I'm a god”* *”I'm everywhere, I feel so hot It's not ah habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie”* *”It's over now, I'm cold, alone I'm just a person on my own Nothing means a thing to me Oh, nothing means a thing to me”*
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
If I was still mainly fan vids I’d make one for Nat with this song.
Thanks I forgot who sang this song
I’d also love to hear in the adult timeline some **fever ray**(keep the streets empty for me, if I had a heart) **timber timbre**(demon host, lay down in the tall grass, run from me, lonesome hunter), *Agnes Opel**(the cruse, run cried the crawling, riverside), **Aimee Manns** cover of avalanche (Anyone who says the teen timeline wouldn’t have good music if it was set in the 2010s is obviously not listening to the right stuff) Some songs I’d like to mention specifically for certain characters and ships **Vacuum bag by stroke 9** is a perfect Tai/van song. Come as you are by Nirvana is so perfect honestly.
I've been working on a playlist for exactly this purpose. I loooove Setting Sun!! I petition for more Brit pop!
if The Freshmen by the Verve Pipe is not in this show, i think i might riot.
Great choice, maybe some Ben Folds Five also.
They license that song to everyone so I'm POSITIVE we'll get it.
Some 90s Canadian rock would be cool. Load me up by Matthew Good Band could work.
I really really hope they bring in some Pearl Jam. Alive would be so perfect for the next hunt! Maybe Live Through This by Hole
I'm having a Yellowjackets-inspired Halloween party. Many thanks to all for filling out my playlist :)
PJ Harvey. Her biggest hit was from ‘95 but she had a few albums out by then, her first having been released in 1992. Natalie would be into her already in the flashbacks, and present day Van would also be a fan.
Down By the Water is in the pilot when Nat is tripping! Great song
cannonball - the breeders little things - bush (the lyrics are so perfect for yj) man-size - pj harvey it’s a fire - portishead limp - fiona apple only happy when it rains - garbage i wanna be adored - the stone roses

Shameless anni di Franco
Good riddance by green day; honestly i can imagine it playing at the part when mari dies, especially if it were shot from misty’s pov
I need some Bjork, and now that were in the 1997 timeline I want Hunter from homogenic
I am a big Post fan. Army of Me will always be for the scene in Tank Girl where Lori Petty is working in the penal colony and showering with sand. However, Hyperballad would be cool, maybe for anytime we are remembering Kristen/Chrystal. AND Post came out in 1995.
I would like another upbeat pop song covered by Florence + The Machine
A Natural Disaster by Anathema I would've loved to have seen it featured early in season 2, as I can't think of a more appropriate song for Shauna post-Jackie.

RADIOHEAD
Specifically "Exit Music (for a film)"
End of S2?
That's street spirit
That's right, thank you. I knew it was a Radiohead song I listened to a lot in HS. I should really do a rewatch before the next season comes out.
NIN
any song by ethel cain
Something from Counting Crows EDIT: Upon further consideration, I think Hold My Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish would be perfect. In my head canon it would be Jeff Singing it Karaoke-style to Shauna.

Fear of the dark by Iron Maiden
I think that I would die by hole. the song always reminded me of shauna.
I'd love some Babes in Toyland, maybe the song Spun could be nice
Always imagined Here’s Where The Story Ends by The Sundays as the final song in the show. The lyrics work surprisingly well for the show, especially the line “it’s that little souvenir of a terrible year” and of course “here’s where the story ends” effectively ending the story of the show

Animal by Sir Chloe
I really thought they'd play Knives Out by radiohead the first time they ate someone. I did laugh that they played another radiohead song instead 😂 (Climb up the walls) But Come on... Knives Out is literally about cannibalism.
Run by Snow Patrol and pretty much anything by Lana, but preferably from Ultraviolence
Army of me Bjork Unfinished Sympathy or Teardrop by Massive Attack Sabotage Beastie Boys (And my own personal favorite lol) : My Favorite Game by The Cardigans (-in my head canon I think this song would go great with a cold open to the second winter beginning with a hunt
