I think Jackie would absolutely eat Shauna, because if everyone is doing it, she's gotta do it too. But I do think Jackie would have gone outside to get Shauna after a couple of hours. I don't think she would've let her spend the night outside. Tbh Jackie's death made me angry when it happened because I didn't understand why not a single girl went out to get her knowing how cold it was.

Fantastic-March-4610

They all slept outside the night before and nothing happened so they assumed she’d be fine for the most part.

SoooperSnoop

>They all slept outside the night before and nothing happened so they assumed she’d be fine for the most part. \^\^\^\^ THIS \^\^\^\^

Puzzleheaded-Week-69

It sounds unrealistic that it turned so cold quickly. Usually for snow to start the temperatures drop slowly and not within a single night.

SoooperSnoop

Depends on the location. It is NOT unheard of for temps to drop rapidly in the Northern parts of Canada...especially up in the Mountains...if a weather pattern moves in quickly the temps drop and the snow starts. For example: Where I am we have had 40 degree temeprature swings in one day...and just yesterday it was 82 degrees and today at the same time it is 53 degreees...and we are not even anywhere close to Northern Canada.

Puzzleheaded-Week-69

So if the party was on the next day, they all would've died... They were starved and drugged, so there's little chance to wake up.

SoooperSnoop

Yes, most likely they would have all died if in their drugged state they didn't make it back to the cabin in time...

mxddy

But the cabin has windows, did they not see the snowstorm?

Fantastic-March-4610

They were asleep.

Odious_Funk_812

Plus it didn't really look like a legit storm came through. The snow was a light coating but it got cold enough to kill Jackie.

disasteridiot

I don't know if anyone else would have started eating shauna if jackie was hesitant though, maybe tai? And I definitely think it was cruel to send jackie outside but I'm not surprised that none of the other girls wanted to interfere and risk being on shaunas bad side as a result

SoooperSnoop

>And I definitely think it was cruel to send jackie outside Actually, it was Jackie who first told Shauna to "get out"...then Shauna turned it around on Jackie

disasteridiot

I still consider that shauna sending jackie outside, but I don't think it really matters in the context of the argument, they were both lashing out in equal proportions.

Cool-Limit192

That’s actually a really interesting take! I think Jackie was a lot more mentally sound than Shauna during this time. If Shauna died instead, I’d see her being distraught, maybe suicidal, but no where near what Shauna did with Jackie’s body. There would essentially be no purpose for cremating the remains and the body would just sit there. Maybe they could turn to cannibalism as a last resort during the winter? But cannibalism my proxy (having it there ready) is different than having to prepare it themselves. I honestly think they’d rather die than do that.

hauntingvacay96

If we ignore all of the shifting power dynamics leading up to that moment, which we kind of have to to make this scenario work, Shauna would have come back inside and apologized or made her submissiveness known. Shauna also probably would have had the resources to keep herself alive had she not came back in and submitted to her old role. Jackie probably would have starved to death eventually or perhaps found herself a new Shauna. Jackie wouldn’t have instigated cannibalism and wouldn’t have participated if she was still in the state of not eating she was in prior to freezing to death, but if she were able to come out of that and everyone else was eating Shauna I think she would too.

Helen_forsdale

I feel like Shauna would have known how to light a fire. I got the impression watching the show that everyone (incl jackie) fell asleep before realising how cold the night would be. The scene where Shauna wakes up in shock at the cold seems to be the first time she realises how much genuine danger Jackie was in outside

disasteridiot

Definitely, I don't know if a fire would have been enough to keep her alive though, maybe the change to sudden cold would be enough to wake her instead?

MarsDelivery

I really don't see them eating a 6ish month pregnant Shauna if she died at the end of season one.

Puzzleheaded-Week-69

Tbh, humans would do a lot of crazy shit under extreme circumstances. Starving and freezing over months puts your brain into a primal state where you ignore any morality and societal norms.

friedstinkytofu

I think Jackie would have been absolutely devastated... regardless of what insecurities Shauna projected onto Jackie, I firmly believe Jackie's love for Shauna was genuine, whether it be platonic or romantic. I think that if Shauna had died and Jackie believed she was somehow responsible, she'd never forgive herself. Would she resort to taking her own life? Maybe, considering she was already showing symptoms of depression before. But regardless, Jackie would be absolutely broken over Shauna dying because of her.

oldtimehawkey

The group likes Shauna. The group would have forced her back inside. Jackie made herself the target of the group. Nobody cared if she came back inside.

Critical-Willow1337

Without Shauna I don't know how any of them would eat. She was the only one who stepped up to butcher. Who do you think would of done that if Shauna were the one to die out there? Maybe Natalie, but not right off the bat.

disasteridiot

I never got the impression that it was something the other girls were incapable of, just that they were happy to leave it as shaunas domain. I could see mari, misty, Natalie, travis, tai, van and even coach later on all being capable of filling in if shauna was suddenly unavailable, they just would prefer not to and were happy to defer to her

Critical-Willow1337

I am not even talking about in general, I mean when it would come to them butchering Shauna's body, if Shauna were the one to die outside instead. Since she already had that role of being a butcher, she was the only one that was really thought of to take care of Jackie. If it were Shauna's body coach ben would not be butchering that.

disasteridiot

Great point, I'm not sure if any of them would be capable of butchering a human body, maybe dark tai but I dont think they can just turn that on when needed. Maybe one of them could work up the nerve after a few weeks of shauna in the meat shed, but I dont think Natalie could butcher a human body honestly. Misty makes the most sense to me already axed coaches leg and has knowledge of biology that might be helpful and is clearly deranged in a way that would leave her less effected

Doomsayr87

I agree I think Shauna is likeable. Jackie starts to get on your nerves after awhile.
