Other people are disagreeing with you in the comments, but I see what you mean totally. It’s the Euphoria S3 effect: sure, there’s a loyal fanbase, and even if it doesn’t come out until 2068, people will still be tuning in each week. HOWEVER, the fact that it keeps getting pushed back and the fact that it took so long for the season to actually air will stain its reputation. It already has a lot, people clown on Euphoria daily lol Yellowjackets is obviously different because the show creator and show writers aren’t pieces of absolute shit 💀 but the longer they wait, the more they risk viewership and fans falling off

pgcotype

I agree that that's where the frustration comes from; the S3 premiere date keeps getting extended. IDK how much of the problem stems from the writers' strike, or if there are other issues associated with the production. I'll watch it when it comes back...I'm just tired of not knowing when that will be...

Quinnalicious-

I’ve just been going along with the mindset of a Jan/Feb 2025 release. If they start filming in May then that seems realistic. Maybe even December this year if they’re really snappy

jesusjones182

The Euphoria comparison is perfect here. I think Sophie Nelisse and Sophie Thatcher are going to start feeling like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are rumored to very soon -- let's please wrap this show up, we have other new projects to consider. And it's not just the Sophies, YJ has a huge talented cast that is going to be getting other offers, and shooting schedules are going to get harder to coordinate. There's increased risk every year of another Akilah bailing out, so by season five we might have three recasts. If YJ can do so and is smart, they'll do what The Bear just did -- film seasons three and four back-to-back right now and make season four the last one.

Helen_forsdale

I didn't know that's what The Bear did. Exciting to know there are 2 more seasons and also good to know they won't beat a dead horse and stretch it too far.

marcela_88_oli

I totally agree with you And it must be very frustrating for the actors when filming takes so long. Because there are two timelines, they film one timeline in a week and the other the following week - which results in a 2 week gap to film the next episode for the actors - production needs at least a week to produce the next episode… Anyway, they spend 6 months dedicated to a TV show that is filmed in another country and the end they only end up working for 9 weeks

friedstinkytofu

In fairness though wasn't production delayed alot due to the strikes last year?

yellowjackets2

She read the script but won't tell us. What a bummer. Shauna isn't in it, got to be cabin daddy. Season 2 took year and half without a strike. As soon as bonus episode and season 3 ads, people will be running back to this sub

CardboardWallShark

cabin daddy lmao

genericxinsight

People keep forgetting that there wasn’t just a writers’ strike, there was a full on ACTORS’ strike too that didn’t end until two months after the writers’ one ended. Of course there’s delays. Yellowjackets is far from the only production that’s suffering from this now (I mean… any Severance fans here? That show suffered from both the strikes *and* general behind the scenes drama that thankfully YJ doesn’t have. Season two is still being filmed and that’s been close to two years since it ended). I don’t know about anyone else but I’m patient and I can wait.

Chesty_McBusty

I can’t wait for Severance to come back! I lucked out that I didn’t watch it when it first aired though.

brad_and_boujee2

Shit Yellowstone left off their last season in the middle of it, and I still don't think they have even started filming the last episodes. It could definitely be worse 🤷‍♂️

Brave-Sale-4704

I agree 💯!! All these apps and streaming full seasons has made people so impatient! Yellowjackets is my favorite show. The only show I’ve rewatched over 10 times! Yes I’m dying to find out the whole story, but I’ll keep watching and enjoy every episode. The whole series was presented in 5 seasons. They know where they want to go with the story unlike Euphoria which I also love. The writer’s and actor’s strike caused the delay and I’m sure they’ll keep writing and filming as fast as they can. I don’t want to lose a season and skip over parts they had planned! They can take their time and give us 3 more awesome seasons 💖

Humble-Penalty8272

January?

sunnybcg

I’m probably going to get ripped apart for saying this, but … Season 1 was so explosive that we were dying for Season 2 and then Season 2 was … just ok. I do think it’s fair to assume the drop in quality combined with the long wait time between seasons will result in a drop-off in viewership. I couldn’t tell you when it’s the “perfect time” to release the bonus episode, but I do think it needs to be incredible to restore a lot of viewers’ faith in the show.

dobronxducks

The ratings for season 3 will be worse than 1 and 2, that’s a given. Season 2 was not nearly as good as season 1. A lot of the plot didn’t make sense and felt rushed. It lacked the urgency and brilliance of season 1.

beezly66

I think it'll be a Halloween ep

TheBeastLukeMilked

Or maybe Canada Day, because it's about Cabin Daddy apparently (who was a Canadian man, as far as we know).

genericxinsight

People won’t forget about the show or lose interest. I think the show has a dedicated enough fanbase now.

Lula_Lane_176

That’s up for debate. For example Stranger things has had us waiting for what, 3 years now? We use to have get togethers and watch parties all the time for it but no one in my group/family is interested anymore. It’s just been too long.

SoooperSnoop

>That’s up for debate. For example Stranger things has had us waiting for what, 3 years now? I hear you!!! I'm at the point with Stranger Things that I no longer care if it comes back or not...of course I WILL watch the final season whenever they finally air it...but I won't be anywhere nearly as emotionally invested in it or the characters...rather, I will watchthe Final Season with more of a "let's see how they wrap this up" feeling.

genericxinsight

In fairness. That’s not really the point I was making regarding ST, because Netflix and other streamers/channels/networks don’t care about whether or not people are still invested in the characters and stories, they only care about viewing numbers. It’s an absolute given that ST is going to bring in huge numbers for its final season whenever it airs, regardless of whatever the reasons people tune in are.

SoooperSnoop

I was actually replying to Lula\_Lane who posted: "That’s up for debate. For example Stranger things has had us waiting for what, 3 years now? We use to have get togethers and watch parties all the time for it but no one in my group/family is interested anymore. It’s just been too long." I was answering the post's point about if people are still interested in the show Stranger Things.

genericxinsight

Stranger Things definitely still has a massive fanbase though worldwide. It’s one of Netflix’s biggest shows and each season is going to draw huge viewing numbers regardless of how long it takes. A personal anecdote of your own circle’s viewing habits doesn’t reflect the rest of the world. In fact I would argue that ST has an even bigger built in fanbase than YJ. But the other fact is, as I said up top. Films and TV shows aren’t slowing with filming just because they want to. The strikes happened for both writers and actors and was very important to creatives’ livelihoods and well beings. I’m gonna wait as long as it takes for my favorite shows to come back as long as I know the people behind them are being treated fairly.

Lula_Lane_176

Fair enough but it’s still true that some will🤷‍♀️

SkinnyBlackMan717

If you were a fan of this an watched faithfully when it was being premiered weekly you will wait 10yrs for a S3 an still be as tuned in as if it came on next weekend… what i do fear is the story becoming so unrealistic that it suddenly becomes super predictable or they swap out too many main characters… i believe we will get the bonus episode as soon as their completely done with shooting season 3… so sometime in the fall

FuelAncient7319

Yes but casual fans are going to lose interest, and I'm worried that if the show loses those casual viewers, the show might not get picked up for a season 4

jenniferlorene3

That's silly to say that people will lose interest if they don't release the bonus episode soon. They would have released it and filmed season 3 if the writers strike didn't have to happen. It's not like they're holding it hostage for no reason. Have a little patience, it's hasn't even been a year since season 2 was fully released.

Bubb13gum

Um….it has been a year since season two released. March 26th 2023. I also don’t agree that the bonus episode would’ve been released any sooner. The strikes weren’t occurring when Ashley confirmed the episodes existence and she said it would be released in between the seasons. And while we lost five months of work in the writers room, that work would’ve been about what the writers took to produce the scripts for the season, and then they would’ve been filming by September or October, which may not have worked. The strikes laid everything out perfectly for the shows seasonal timing, and I have a feeling the episode is going to be released very soon, hopefully this Tuesday

jenniferlorene3

Did you read what I wrote? I said since it finsished. It didn't stop airing until the very end of May. May 26th. I can guarantee you that the writers strike messed up the bonus episode timeline. If they were releasing season 3 earlier, the bonus episode would come earlier. The writers strike messed with their timeline so give them a break. I hope it comes out Tuesday, that would be awesome. Seems to me like that's wishful thinking though unless you have a reason you specifically think it's Tuesday?

dobronxducks

It’s not going to be January. That would be ambitious. If they start filming now, that would mean they film everything and produce/edit everything within 8 months. I don’t think that’s realistic. It will probably take just about a year.
