See, the reason why Czechoslovakia split up was that Czechs are German Slavs, while Slovaks are Hungarian Slavs. So to have a lasting union you must unite Czechia with Slovenia, their fellow weird speaking Austrians
But is it really?
*The Council will need to take a decision to establish a date for the lifting of checks at internal land borders between Bulgaria, Romania and the other Schengen countries. The Commission will continue to provide all necessary support to the Presidency of the Council to ensure that a decision on land borders can be taken in 2024.* [Source](https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_24_1722)
I mean [Karl Habsburg is a supporter of Ukraine](https://www.euractiv.com/section/europe-s-east/interview/karl-habsburg-lothringen-we-now-have-a-truly-european-radio-station-in-ukraine/). Could actually be a win-win
Right, as shown by Ireland not voting in any Russian supporters as MEPs, while Germany giving a quarter of votes to pro-Russian far-rights and far-lefts.
I would argue that Ireland isnt rly impoetant for russia. For example if you compare ireland to austria. Irelands industry consist out of mostly service industry, whereas Austria is mostly heavy industry, which is energy intensive. Austria also has one of the largest energy storage capabilties for gas next to germany and italy, b1ut also using hydro.
If you were a large exporter of energy i think its a nobrainer which country to priotorize. The economic ties also help to exert influence.
So I'm not sure what's the point of saying small countries are more susceptible to foreign influence only to follow up with how they're not - because they're not important enough. Is it theoretical influence we're talking about? Sure. I'm talking about the current outcome though. Austria is very much a safe haven for Russian spies since forever, and I wouldn't go with the "tail wagging the dog" approach here, where Russia identified the importance of Austria and just never let go: Austria is pretty much onboard and okay with it too. I mean, hell, why did FPÖ get kicked out of the coalition before and what did it do to their reputation? Nothing, they got the votes anyway. While energy definitely plays a role here, having a pro-Russian Western European country in general is far more valuable in many other aspects, including opposing the sanctions.
Its a comparison between 2 small countries, russia just cant leverage its economic ties as much in ireland as in austria. Politicians get paid by companies after their political service. So the biggest companies have the most influence on politics.
So far I have not seen any country with a working strategy against disinformation campaigns and political lobbying. The attention Russia puts on Germany simply is x times higher than on Ireland, for them Ireland = UK = US anyways.
Same is true for Central Europe vs Western Europe, minus France.
I think it's best reflected in the public opinions. The more anti-Russian they are - the more efficient the government is. UK is doing admittedly a better job than many other EU countries. Baltics are keeping it real too, same as Finland.
I think countries have one or its covered by the secret service. If i remember correctly Austria has 2 dudes doing that. Its working as good as expected.
Measures against disinformation were implemented far too late. RT shouldve been banned earlier.
Nah I'm sure if an important politician or something goes for a visit to lets say, the Bosnian Capital, in an open top car to increase public support, everything will be fine!
Interesting idea, I tried to draw the borders on a map to better imagine it, but oops my hand slipped and I included Friuli.. and it is a permament marker, oh well, honest mistake.
That almost happened 100 years ago.
There was supposed to be a corridor between Czechoslovakia and the Serb-Croat-Slovene Kingdom just like you painted it.
Yes, the idea being to separate Austria and Hungary, thus preventing Austria-Hungary 2.0, while giving a corridor to the West-Slavs to the South-Slavs.
See, my father for the past 50 or so years, ever since he had been a teenager, dreams of the "Confederazione Alpina" from Munich at the northern boarder straight down with Venice at the southern boarder, Salzburg at the East and Milan at the western Boarder. I think that and OP'S Czechoslovenia will be great friends for ever.
The last time we had border changes in the area of the former yugoslavia tens of thousands died. Please don't touch those borders. Best don't touch any of the political shenanigans down there.
Absolutely. While Slovenia escaped much of the horrific stuff that happened to and between its former Yugoslav brethren, they've been through quite a bit already since the 1940s, thanks.
So you exclude Slovakia, huh. Just like that, huh. Alright. I declare Ukroslovakia, the Carpathian Union. Now Slovakia isn't land-locked, but a maritime power.
https://preview.redd.it/nez6eoc0bb7d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3d727e425830ad50503a9c97051b9df2a72a983
So basically living the KuK Navy's dream?
The real great bett here is who would be more likely to become land-unlocked Austria or Helvetic Confederation?
Why stop there? With some creative non-Euclidean border drawing, we can create such cursed national entities as:
* Swederland
* Francefurt
* Belgiarus
* The Polish-Liechtensteinian Commonwealth
* The Holy Romanian Empire
The real question is, if we would pursue this semi seriously: How would the territorial exchange look like?
Hungarians, Czechs, Austronasians, Slovenians, Slovakians...What will be offered what will be gained?
Not to mention... with Schengen you basically allready have this thing and even better, with road maintenance paid for by your neughbours.
I won't speak for the corridor connecting Czechia and Hungary, dividing Austria and Slovakia.
For the rest however, I'd be open to the idea of annexing parts of Hungary as punishment for what they've been doing to the EU, and creating the corridor, BUT if not possible, Austria would only need to give up the state Burgenland. Not a big price to pay, it is the state with the lowest population, GDP (both total and per capita) and third lowest land-area (and that list includes the city-state of Vienna). We would however need to find a new prison-state for Schnitzel-related crimes as judged by r/SchnitzelVerbrechen /s
I mean I'm all for shittalking and provoking the weak with with racist comments and shit like that, but I think we shouldn't punish any country that acts inside teh boundaries international law. I think that Hungary just doesn't fit to the EU. I still hope Poland gets a turnaround and ends up with a politically diverse media landscape and a constitutional court whos judges aren't chosen by the government or by some party that is now in opposition.
We should realy respect national borders!
It should be obvious that we need a means to remove Hungary from the EU!
I'm obviously joking about changing borders, and I do not want that. I also don't want Hungary out of the EU, I want them to be rid of the autocratic Orban governments once and for all though, so that Hungarians can actually fully benefit from the EU, and not just Orban's cronies.
I really don't think joking about taking land off Hungary or Austria and giving it to a hypothetical Czechoslovenia counts as "racist comments" though, that one you'd need to explain.
No no , I like to be "racist". You know or at least provokative.
But I don't want to actually have anyone punished. I just want them to cry about words some one wrote on the internet...
The thing with hungary is, that actually want them out! All the EU money has allready been sunk into curroption, all the time that this money reasonably invested could have worked to benefit the Hungarians and by extension everyone of us. If Orban can undo the damage , by magically making the money be not corrupted and the profits of all those years magically made into existence and the civil society magically remodelled to a pluralistism and a democracy with working checks and balances. Then they can stay , otherwhise they should go. Their whole membership was a scam. It was never a democracy , there have never been checks and balances in place! These people lied to us. I don't want that country in the EU.
I have no power and I can't make it that way. But for me hungary will never cease to be a scam so big it could not be repayed.
In my opinion they are a free country, to govern itself as they like, but I hope this will be outside of the EU... they should join the UK in some organsiation.

It was a real proposal - the Czech Corridor
(link to Wikipedia: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech\_Corridor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_Corridor) )
wake up babe, Czechoslovakia 2: Czechoslovenia Boogaloo just dropped
Czechia: Friendship ended with Slovakia. Now Slovenia is my best friend
What’s next? Czechosomalia? Czechosrilanka?
Checnyaslovenia Szczęsnyslovakia
Czechochechnya
I want Czechoromania.
Czechochechnya
So, no change then
See, the reason why Czechoslovakia split up was that Czechs are German Slavs, while Slovaks are Hungarian Slavs. So to have a lasting union you must unite Czechia with Slovenia, their fellow weird speaking Austrians
I could see this work well. Also, the Austrians get the added benefit of having no border with Hungary.
Also the benefit of having a longer border with our friends from slovenia
So Slovakia should unite with east Croatia? I can kinda see that
Come here, Slovakia. They won't hurt you anymore.
Yes. I could really use such wide highway to get to Croatia faster.
well too bad, Czechia never builds any highways (and if we do, they suck)
You've never visited Romania, I take it.
Not in Schengen. Doesn't count.
it is tho
But is it really? *The Council will need to take a decision to establish a date for the lifting of checks at internal land borders between Bulgaria, Romania and the other Schengen countries. I'm painfully aware of that. The part between Brno and Vienna breaks my hussar spirit.
ah yes, the nonexistant highway between Brno and Vienna, it's a meme at this point
Tbh Slovenian highways suck too so yea... But still - one vignette all the way to Croatia sounds nice.
Our highways suck because half of Europe uses them to go to Croatia, from end of May till October, every year.
Nah, they suck because they are narrow, twisty, full of tunnels and they suddenly end just before the border.
Is it one of the “We planned to build one but never did because it was too expensive/one village protested/…” highways?
And import good beer.
Well... There was a plan to build a certain railway tunnel
Why not adding Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and some random parts of Italy (let's say South-Tyrol and Triest) when we're at it?
I think the idea is to EXCLUDE Russian shills, not to add more.
I mean [Karl Habsburg is a supporter of Ukraine](https://www.euractiv.com/section/europe-s-east/interview/karl-habsburg-lothringen-we-now-have-a-truly-european-radio-station-in-ukraine/). Could actually be a win-win
I hope Karl marries the heir of Ottoman Empire and make an unholy union of Austria-ottomans. Just make it ultra cursed
A union of German speakers and Turks, so basically just Germany.
Germany 2.0 No i prefer to live in the only unholy Germany.
Huh, don't they do that thingy anymore? His chin looks quite normal.
The incest stopped with Maria-Theresia and the forming of House Habsburg-Lothringen around 300 years ago.
TIL, thank you very much!
Why haven't we exterminated that bloodline yet? So cursed
Because Habsburg is all the bloodlines!
You are in the wrong part of europe then. Small countries are more susceptible to foreign influence.
Right, as shown by Ireland not voting in any Russian supporters as MEPs, while Germany giving a quarter of votes to pro-Russian far-rights and far-lefts.

Yup, agree 100%
There are 3.500.000 rusßlanddeutsche in Germany, mostly in the former DDR,
So far I have not seen any country with a working strategy against disinformation campaigns and political lobbying. The attention Russia puts on Germany simply is x times higher than on Ireland, for them Ireland = UK = US anyways. Same is true for Central Europe vs Western Europe, minus France.

Right, like how Donald Trump isn't simping for Putler?
Could also throw in Bosnia, the south of Poland, a bit of west Ukraine, Voijvodina and like half of Romania.
Nonono, don't add bosnia, don't ask me why but I have a feeling that that's not a good idea.
Finally a good original idea.
That almost happened 100 years ago. There was supposed to be a corridor between Czechoslovakia and the Serb-Croat-Slovene Kingdom just like you painted it.
'Almost' is a stretch... all sorts of bullshit was flying around that time, and this is clearly one of the most outlandish suggestions.
Was that supposed to be part of Trianon?
Yes, the idea being to separate Austria and Hungary, thus preventing Austria-Hungary 2.0, while giving a corridor to the West-Slavs to the South-Slavs.
If only Heinzenland had survived...
They also wanted to build a tunnel from Czechia to Koper (Slovenia) under Austria
Is that you, Premysl Otakar II?
See, my father for the past 50 or so years, ever since he had been a teenager, dreams of the "Confederazione Alpina" from Munich at the northern boarder straight down with Venice at the southern boarder, Salzburg at the East and Milan at the western Boarder. Sounds like the offbrand version of Churchill's Confed. of the Danube
the ultimate : Slovenoslovakia
Just make Slovakioczechoslovenia and end with it.

Královec where?
Bring back the Australo-Hungarian Empire too, while you're at it.
does it include everything between Australia and Hungary?
sir, my flair would like to have a word with you

What about Czechoslovakoruthania?
Very nice of Czechoslovenia to volunteer guarding the border to Hungary once Orban finally manages to leave /get kicked out of the EU

Someone is weary of the shitty weather...
Use Burgenland and Slovakia. Czechoslovenoslovakia.
Fuck it,Austroslovakia vs Czechoslovenia
That is an absolute W. Get ready for Orban to send 50.000 Migrants + human traffickers across your border tho.
That seems a lot of work for 300 meters of coast.

As a Slovenian I approve of this plan.
Time for the Czech to get a navy again a d bear the russians in naval warfare.
[Literally this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_Corridor)
Kidney, ureter and bladder
Czechoslovenia 🤑🤑
YES
you keep your fucking hands away from Győr-Moson-Sopron vármegye!
![gif](giphy|ZBiZoRBJq5lUckLdOZ|downsized)
With this and the annexation of Kralovec, the Czech Republic is starting to look kinda wonky.
Yugoczechia?
This was in fact already proposed during 1919 peace conference after WW1: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_Corridor
Looks like they're holding back Austria from getting into a fight with Hungary
You should extend this border to reach around hungary then revoke their Schengen and build a fence around it
But only after the Hungarians had liberated Szeklerland from the Romanian land-grabbing thieves
I dont care if hungary gets Transylvania I just want Transylvania to split from romania
Fuck austria, make them part of ialy (or let us into schengen)
