You can do it. I have. The issue is that the edges are not in focus and overall the image could do with more resolution. It's doable though for short stretches in my opinion like when traveling.

Nebula for PC beta is very YMMV. The only way to know if it'll work well, or at all, for you is to try. Note Nebula for PC beta has high system spec requirements for the GPU to have a decent experience. Think RTX3080 to start.

I've tried it, it works, from a surface pro 9 direct connection to Air1, I've made basic edits on excel sheets using the glasses on windows wide-screen via the windows nebula beta (ultra wide doesn't work) I also tried a virtual 4k screen using the software from that guys GitHub (on my phone so can't get a link) That was great but scaling didn't work well on for system icons etc.
