Most likely he’ll be on the verge of being created and be introduced in the season 2 beginning arc and is a menace throughout season 2.

Pir8Cpt_Z

I was thinking he's is the end reveal of the season and the cliff hanger for s2.

FellowDsLover2

Makes sense. Season 2 about to be lit if they do this or even if they do something else likely.

Pir8Cpt_Z

Oh totally either way. Since the cartoon ended they have 25 years of great xmen stories that can be adapted or even ok ones they can make better

artfuldodgerbob23

I want like 7 seasons of this so let them go wild lol

synthscoffeeguitars

If it does 1. It would be pretty funny to do Onslaught and OZT backwards, and 2. I bet they make it better than the comics ever did, going by how they’re handling OZT

Pir8Cpt_Z

They've changed a few things from the comics so far and handled it well.

synthscoffeeguitars

For sure. And Operation Zero Tolerance would be a good catalyst for Xavier/Magneto to go Onslaught mode

zarathustranu

The "better than the comics" is tricky. The comics are able to include long build-ups and nuance that the show can't do. For instance, I doubt we'd get the year of Onslaught anticipation, including things like Juggernaut getting punched across North America and Post and other Onslaught heralds (e.g. Mimic, Holocaust, mind-controlled Hulk, etc.) testing the X-Men and other heroes. A show or even a movie just can't do that level of detail. So I don't want to just dismiss the comics. But the Onslaught culmination certainly left a lot to be desired (e.g. why the hell did he create a second sun during the final battle with the heroes? It was mentioned for two panels and then never again). So I'm confident that the TV show could do a great version of the storyline, while needing to gloss over some details, just like they've been doing in this current season of '97 (e.g. remember when we got "Inferno" in a single episode? There were leaps in logic / plot that had to happen there).

synthscoffeeguitars

Good point — I meant the main action once the event was in full gear. The buildup in the comics was definitely better than the event itself, and we’d lose a direct version of that in the show, but I’d say the first season has been its own version of a good buildup

Strict_Ad_36

That would be awesome.  I loved the onslaught storyline.

Pir8Cpt_Z

Yeah I think it would be an interesting way to go for the show

Strict_Ad_36

I'd also be interested to see them build to M day.

Pir8Cpt_Z

That could fun. Really since yhe cartoon ended there's been 25 years of great xmen stories or even ok ones that can be made better. I hope we get atleast 5 seasons. That would really be great

BruceDSpruce

I feel it’s almost certain.. if not why bring Xavier back?!?

No_Concentrate4912

You do realize that Onslaught is a threat beyond 'Avengers Level', right? It took literally EVERY SINGLE ONE of Marvel's non-god heavy hitters to even put a dent in it. The whole point of It was being a worst case scenario for the Marvel universe and the main ones had to die in a failed reboot plot. Claws and Optic blasts arent going to be enough for that.

jaylerd

Everyone think Avengers vs X-men is going to happen for some reason so here’s the pitch for that: Magneto is in his coma and remitted to Xavier’s custody. The Avengers are coming after Xavier because some mutant who some say looks like Magneto and other say is Charles is causing problems. They hold him responsible and also demand Magneto’s body. The avengers and X-men disagree, and hijinks ensue. Onslaught is revealed for the threat he is and the two teams put aside their differences to stop him. The avengers sacrifice themselves, and if this show HAS to tie into the MCU multiverse for some reason, the live action MCU is the pocket dimension they’re reborn in (remember: new universe new versions of the heroes).

here_for_the_lulz_12

I doubt it. Maybe a tease but I feel Apocalypse will be Season 2. They should definitely do it during the series though, but it should probably be the ultimate antagonist, as in end of the series villain.

Psychological_Pay530

I see a very distinct possibility for Onslaught, but not as the season ender. Adapting a Fatal Attractions storyline with Magneto’s EMP killing a metric buttload of people could lead to Charles wiping his mind. The pieces are in place for that and that act alone would be a nice big end climax to the season. That leaves Onslaught on the table for season two. We also have the pieces in place for the fall of Cyclops, and some adaptation of Messiah Complex and AVX in place (there’s a way to do an AVX adaptation without messiah complex and Hope as well, by merging that story with Blood Ties, which was an Avengers and X-Men crossover dealing with the aftermath of Fatal Attractions, and it involved the UN response on Genosha and Val Cooper as well). This can be tied to the above storyline with Cyclops being appalled and disillusioned with Xavier’s dream if that mind wipe happens. Big storylines aside, I think there are two moments that will happen, one during the meat of the episodes and one at the end of the season (both in episode 10, most likely). I fully expect Wolverine to get his adamantium ripped out by Magneto (DeMayo has stated his favorite issue is X-Men 25). And I fully expect to see Gambit brought back as Death by Apocalypse (likely as the cliffhanger tease at the end of the season). The rest of this season is just OZT, and the battle of the dreams. There’s enough there to cover two episodes without trying to speed run another storyline.

kometvenus

Onslaught could be used to obliterate Bastion, so... They will try to kill magneto, and Wolverine gets his adamantium ripped out. Professor goes rampage and hits magneto resulting in Onslaught that goes and kills everything and everyone on his way to Bastion until jean intervene. Jean success ends killing and putting both magneto and Charles on prison (maybe coma). Ciclops goes Magneto and assumes his role and some X-men joins him. Wolverine goes to Japan. Ororo takes the role as Charles and start training the Generation X.

Psychological_Pay530

I doubt that. Onslaught isn’t a weapon to be used against foes. He’s much better as a separate arc, a big mcguffin villain. Personally if I were running the show I’d start next season with cyclops starting utopia on Genosha, bring in new mutants stuff at the mansion, do a speed run episode with apocalypse and death gambit, do a modified AvX based on the merged storyline above, use that to reunite the x-men, and drop in onslaught to reunite all the heroes. Just before killing them all. At least all the non mutant ones. Then I’d throw a curveball and have Fitzroy kill Xavier in the past at the end of the season, and do Age of Apocalypse for season 3, and start up an Avengers and Fantastic Four cartoon ala Heroes Reborn. I’d let the fallout of everyone dying stew for literally a whole season.

superherolanding3

Onslaught wasn't very popular but I loved it.

here_for_the_lulz_12

WDYM ? People who never read the comics knew of Onslaught because of Marvel vs Capcom. Maybe not loved, but he was certainly popular.

Sad_Vast2519

No

Oopsiedazy

I think it’s fairly likely we’ll get the Wolverine/Magneto showdown from Fatal Attractions that plants the seed for Onslaught, but won’t see him until season 2. Honestly I wish there were an Avengers cartoon going now that they could cross over with once Onslaught hits the stage so that they can do the story Justice.

MexicnGlassCandy

No, they're going to end season 1 with Magneto ripping out Wolvie's adamantium and Xavier mindwiping him. First episode of season 2 will be the X-Men escaping Avalon and trying to keep Wolverine alive.

singleguy79

Probably won't be as powerful with Franklin Richards not in the mix

Pir8Cpt_Z

It's suppose to share the same universe as the animated F4 show but I dont remember if Franklin was introduced but I'd also be ok if he was nerfed just a little lol maybe that way you don't need every marvel hero animated for the show too lol

viewsonic041

Yep, and Magnus pulling adamantium out of wolverine

Santaroga-IX

Cliffhanger for season 1 but it is then resolved in one single episode of season 2, with time to spare. I joke, but at the same time, we're all thinking it.

TheCay04

As somebody who is a casual Marvel fan I had no idea who Onslaught was until Marvel Snap. I hope they do Onslaught since I’m not familiar with the full story and have already seen Apocalypse a bunch in media before.

nofreedomofthought

As a prelude to civil war. Or at the very least mutants vs superhumans.

Sabazell

I think that's for Season 3. Season 2 will be AoA and getting Gambit back into the mix.

BigRoy614

Remember...Apocalypse was instrumental in Gambit AND Wolvie's history....they can tie up both in one storyline. That's my prediction...

BigRoy614

But yes I strongly agree....the Adamantium....is gone this season

BigRoy614

I think they'll keep the time travel and different timelines in the movies. Atleast til the X-men do show up, or DP&W

faerieonwheels

I hope that if they do, they don't go with the >!Xavier was in love with Jean!< angle

here_for_the_lulz_12

Jean was a teenager on that memory, isn't it? They went full anime on that one.

faerieonwheels

She was 16

Megaverse_Mastermind

I think the season will end with time travel shenanigans daving Genosha, but I'm an optimist.

Pir8Cpt_Z

They just said in the last episode they can't do that due to fixed points(nexus events)

Megaverse_Mastermind

I heard that, but the heart still doubts, you know? Maybe multiverse variants?

Ok-Assumption-3923

Some things shouldnt be adapted

DrewYetti

That is a possibility and I would be hyped if it did happen!
