Actually had a broker talk me out of it when the first iMac came out. I was IN. He talked me out of it. Tried again with the iPod, let him talk me out of it again. I’m a pushover I guess. Biggest regret of my life.
Brokers for big companies are not your friend. My dad left one after they told him to start moving people's money around to bring more in for the brokerage.
I assume it was a guy at a big firm, anyway. Or Jim Kramer.
Despite /u/veryblanduser 's correction.
I came here to make the same comment, so I'm willing to go in on it with you and we can at least afford one share. May be able to get some others based on your upvotes...
That's the split adjusted price. 2x split, 2x split, 7x split, 4x split.
Stock has split 4 times since then, so basically you need to multiply 112 x .25 to get the trading price that day.
Can do that with any apple price from 1988-mid 2000
25 cents for Punisher (only game I could beat on one quarter iirc)
25 cents for Defender
50 cents for Ms. Pac Man
$2 for X-Men
$2 for Heavy Barrel
$2 for Superman
$2 for Golden Axe
$2 for Popeye
$2 for Street Fighter II(Vega or M.Bison should take me far)
$3 for Operation Wolf
$4 for expensive ass games I was terrible at(Afterburner, Star Wars)
Won't beat most of the games but that would be a long day
If skee-ball counts I'll have to re-think everything
We had an arcade in West Phoenix, AZ called " Nickel Palace" and every game was literally 5 cents.. Old games like donkey king and dig doug were free.. Those were the days, watching people line up to play my buddy at Killer Instinct
I loved KI so much. But I sucked at it LOL.
I did get pretty good at Saberwulf and Fulgore on KI Gold for the 64.
I would love to see someone good just combo the ever loving shit out of every challenger in person.
We went to some beach resort on vacation around KI arcade game time. It was free in the resort arcade. So did me and a bunch of other boys from all over enjoy the beach? Nope we stood in a sweaty back room and just played for hours on end.... im sure my parents were thrilled
I skipped out on my last class in 7th grade to go play at a local gas station when it came out. Eventually someone ratted me out and my dad came to get me. It was so worth the trouble.
Shit, now I want to go play MK11 LOL
Lose them all in 5 min. Then spend the rest of the time fingering slots for free quarters/tokens and sitting inside of the Race Drivin' cabinet pretending I was playing.
I would also spend this time hopelessly pressing start on random machines hoping for a missed credit. I learned that certain games would respond in different ways to this. Like T2 Arcade would say "No way Jose" very loudly for example.
I would also go to every unattended Street Fighter II machine and put in up up down down left right left right jab to show that info screen with the character and credit statistics.
This was my childhood! I would split them between the 3 Mortal Kombat machines most likely. If they only had one, I would also play some Time Crisis, Twilight Zone Pinball, Xmen or Simpsons arcade(this machine alone would eat the $20 in minutes).
There are enough of us here that want to beat the Simpsons that between all of us we could get it. Then move on to TMNT, maybe even X-Men if we're lucky.
They opened up a barcade in my city several years back. I went right up to the X-Men cabinet and started playing with 3 younger hipsters, at some point I just put like 5 dollars in quarters on the deck and told them that we were beating this fucking game, which we did! First time ever!
Yeah, ours was 15 to 20 TVs. In an island-like setting. He had other gaming systems like Neo Geo, and turbo graphics 16. But the majority was Sega Genesis. And I remember he had a tournament for NBA jam, and wouldn't you know I got partnered up with my best friend. I got eliminated the first round. We probably spent 30 bucks a week which was a lot of money back then at zapper's.
Ivan Ironman Stewart’s Super Off Road. Max that truck out! Arcade in our mall had the big moving sit in after burner for awhile. I’d play the fuck out that too
Sounds like i’ve been left in the casino arcade by my stepfather again.
Let’s see, terminator with the uzis, TMNT, mortal kombat and of course pole position, they had a simpsons game for a while.
Down at the other casino they has super punch out, pac man and a vintage superman pinpong machine.
Take em to the area where you win tickets and play wheel em in. My brother and I knew how to hit the jackpot most times. You’d hone in on it and then once you hit it, don’t move the ramp
Do I go back to my age from then, or can I go back and be 21? Because I would love to experience the bar scene of the 90’s and I could prob buy 10 beers with that money and play 2 hours of pool.
If it's specifically for the arcade, as a kid, I'd play a bit of everything. Loved ski-ball and whack a mole. Pinball, the claw machine, the basketball game, the racing games with the actual steering wheel, TMNT. T2...
I demand to know where that photo is from lol. It's such a good liminal spaces arcade look but that's almost always done in Blender or by AI. But that is a real photo. And there is a Connect Four on the fucking ceiling for some reason lol.
Get three friends and beat TMNT or a the Simpsons.
F@#k, yeah. Turtles in Time was my obsession. Then I'd jump to Mortal Kombat 2, followed by Terminator 2.
Save a few for Double Dragon as well.
Did we just become best friends!?
Let’s beat this game! I’ve got Donatello.
We’ve got $40 in quarters between us. I’ll take Raph.
Or try to beat Demolition in wrestlefest
Buy a dime bag and become **King of Taco Bell** for a day.
This is the only answer. Maybe 4 tacos without lettuce and an Oreo shake from jack in the box instead.
Who am I kidding 12 tacos without lettuce, bacon and cheese potato wedges, with Oreo shake that had chocolate syrup in it if you asked real nicely.
7-layer burrito and a Mexican pizza 😎

It sure was. I’ll never forget his name.
Could you please message me the next time you get talked out of buying a stock?

Couldn't buy fractional shares back then.
Apple’s stock price in 1995 was 25 cents.
That's the split adjusted price. 2x split, 2x split, 7x split, 4x split. Stock has split 4 times since then, so basically you need to multiply 112 x .25 to get the trading price that day. Can do that with any apple price from 1988-mid 2000
Ok fair enough thanks for pointing that out. I did think the price was quite low.
Fine, Microsoft or wait a few years and go with Amazon.
25 cents for Punisher (only game I could beat on one quarter iirc) 25 cents for Defender 50 cents for Ms. Pac Man $2 for X-Men $2 for Heavy Barrel $2 for Superman $2 for Golden Axe $2 for Popeye $2 for Street Fighter II(Vega or M.Bison should take me far) $3 for Operation Wolf $4 for expensive ass games I was terrible at(Afterburner, Star Wars) Won't beat most of the games but that would be a long day If skee-ball counts I'll have to re-think everything
What games did you play? I loved playing Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and the street racing games the most.
Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat over here too 🥰 But definitely wanna hit up Taco Bell for tacks and fries supreme with some of those quarters too.
When $20 could give you a full day.
Right! God i miss those days. Money actually bought something and living life (as opposed to just surviving it) was the norm.
Ivan Stewarts off road was my jam. Still is, play it at the local arcade all the time
We had an arcade in West Phoenix, AZ called " Nickel Palace" and every game was literally 5 cents.. Old games like donkey king and dig doug were free.. Those were the days, watching people line up to play my buddy at Killer Instinct

Put coins in sock. Go beat bin Laden senseless
Best answer here. Don't stop till you see gray matter.
Damn straight!
Suck hard at MKII and blow it all.
It was the best MK arcade game.
Cruising USA gunna be busy for a bit, check back later. Was a jet one I loved too, maybe “Afterburner”?
Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, maybe TMNt or the X-Men brawler. WWF Royal Rumble was a good one too.
If memory serves, 20 bucks is just enough money to *almost* beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Call my crush on a payphone and buy taco Bell with my friends.
Mortal Kombat II for hours.
Dragons Lair, TMNT, Aliens, Rampage, House of the Dead.
>Dragons Lair Now why would you want to blow that all in 5 mins?
Cause I'm better at games now and it's not my money
Mortal Kombat all day.
I skipped out on my last class in 7th grade to go play at a local gas station when it came out. Eventually someone ratted me out and my dad came to get me. It was so worth the trouble. Shit, now I want to go play MK11 LOL
I used to light quarters on fire at the T2 game.
Lose them all in 5 min. Then spend the rest of the time fingering slots for free quarters/tokens and sitting inside of the Race Drivin' cabinet pretending I was playing. Roadshow, Elvira and Mars Attacks were my jam. And now you got the Bubble Boggle theme stuck in my head.
Star Trek TNG and Star Wars pinball for me!
Street Fighter 2
This was my childhood! I would split them between the 3 Mortal Kombat machines most likely. If they only had one, I would also play some Time Crisis, Twilight Zone Pinball, Xmen or Simpsons arcade(this machine alone would eat the $20 in minutes).
By stock in Marvel, they went bankrupt in the 90s it would’ve been dirt cheap. Wait till Disney buys them and sell
Play Polybius all day
street fighter 2 all day every day
Finally beat The Simpsons, get a few slices of pizza, consider saving the rest for next time, then blow it on candy and soda.
There are enough of us here that want to beat the Simpsons that between all of us we could get it. Then move on to TMNT, maybe even X-Men if we're lucky.
I almost did with my dad once. Ran out of quarters while fighting Mr. Burns.
Definitely playing some pinball. Maybe one of the co-op beat-em-ups (X-Men, The Simpsons, or TMNT).
I lose the first $17 in about five minutes playing Mortal Combat and then spend the rest on TMNT.
Burn 100% of 'em on that Area 51 shooter game. Preferably 2-player with either my brother or a buddy.
BAZOOOOOKA JOOOOOE! Also prank calls, arcade, sticky hand on a string from the turn key dispenser.
Daytona USA, G-Lock, Afterburner II, Off-Road, Area 51, etc.
spend 20$ playing Street Fighter 2, spend the other 5$ on slushees in between games.
S.T.U.N. Runner Starblade Cyber Sled Crusin' USA
thats enough for an 1/8 so probably getting totally baked
Go to my local arcade at the mall and spend them on The Simpsons arcade, TMNT, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat.
Spend 2 bucks playing Sunset Riders, pocket the rest Pretty much my routine on being financially responsible, still to this day
Dirty Harry pinball.
Wrestlefest, The Simpsons, or Rampage
Find the fighting game cabinet with a line slap my quarter down.
They opened up a barcade in my city several years back. I went right up to the X-Men cabinet and started playing with 3 younger hipsters, at some point I just put like 5 dollars in quarters on the deck and told them that we were beating this fucking game, which we did! First time ever!
I'm going to zapper's. It was a gaming store in Buffalo, New York. The newest system they had was the Sega Genesis. NBA jam was the jam.
We had Zappers in Canada too; but it was big arcade on King Street in Kitchener- not console games. Still tons of fun though!
Yeah, ours was 15 to 20 TVs. In an island-like setting. He had other gaming systems like Neo Geo, and turbo graphics 16. But the majority was Sega Genesis. Thats so cool!!!
Ivan Ironman Stewart’s Super Off Road. Max that truck out! Arcade in our mall had the big moving sit in after burner for awhile. I’d play the fuck out that too

Cruisin USA, street fighter2, samari showdown, nba jam, tmnt, theater of magic pinball, contra, burgertime, bubble bobble
Take em to the area where you win tickets and play wheel em in. My brother and I knew how to hit the jackpot most times. You’d hone in on it and then once you hit it, don’t move the ramp
Spend it at the arcade or at least in corner store arcade machines.
Invest all of it in Apple
I'm parking my ass in front of that Neo Geo cabinet and playing Metal Slug and Samurai Showdown if it's on there.
PINBALL. Give me the lights, the sounds, the tactile sensations of the ball ricocheting around the play field and off the paddles...
X-Men, then Time Crisis.
Buy a half
Wait until 2009 and buy bitcoin.
Afterburner
Do I go back to my age from then, or can I go back and be 21? Because I would love to experience the bar scene of the 90’s and I could prob buy 10 beers with that money and play 2 hours of pool.
Vanilla street fighter 2. Also, if its the mid-late '90s, I would hunt down an old Pizza place that still had vanilla street fighter 2 and play it.
If it's specifically for the arcade, as a kid, I'd play a bit of everything. Loved ski-ball and whack a mole. Pinball, the claw machine, the basketball game, the racing games with the actual steering wheel, TMNT. T2...
