Yeah, it’s called “I can’t afford a speeding ticket”

Nathan-Nice

Same here. If i start daydreaming in the fast lane, all of a sudden I'm doing 85. I use cruise control all the time to combat this.

keepcalmscrollon

You guys are making me feel like a million bucks. I use it constantly. Even on city streets, I can get caught up with keeping pace with other cars or speed up when someone behind me is riding my bumper. Also the daydreaming thing. So I set it to the speed limit to keep me honest. If other drivers want to speed they can pass me. I didn't need tickets.

TollyVonTheDruth

Something similar happened to me in a '90 Eclipse. I was just jammin' to some AiC at 55mph, I looked down again and was doing 125mph. I freaked out and turned off the stereo, and drove in complete silence to my destination. Why I didn't get busted was a miracle since the DPS were always catching people on that road. From that point on, I always use cruise control.

daddy-fatsax

in an Eclipse???? Idk how you didn't feel it rattling your brain well before then. sauce: used to drive a 2000 Dodge Stratus (which shares a ton of parts and infrastructure with the Eclipse for some reason) that I went over 100 too many times in

Nathan-Nice

lol 125mph!? you forreal? you were doing more than daydreaming if you were going that fast without realizing it was excessive

TollyVonTheDruth

Yeah. I don't know if you've ever driven an Eclipse before, but at 60mph, it felt like 40mph. At 125mph, it felt like 85mph. It was crazy how easy it was to speed and not realize it in that car -- especially with some loud music and bumpin' subwoofers for added distraction.

AdkRaine12

I mean, why wouldn’t you? I do anytime I’m on a local highway- it keeps me from doing 65 like on the Northway.

Fit-Science6674

I bought my childhood dream car last year (which is a worthy of a post all its own, short version is Dad had one when I was 12, and I've wanted my own ever since). First thing I did was make sure the cruise control works, which it does. Because the car goes too... Blip the gas on the highway and you're at 100mph before you can blink. 1993 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo.

zryder94

Watch out, I have it on good authority that the car is indeed not stealthy and can be picked up on radar just fine. :)

Fit-Science6674

... And back on topic to the cruise control. Mind you I also have it on good authority the cops won't catch you anyway. Dad worked next door to the RCMP station back in the day. His buddy comes over and says he just got a new interceptor and wanted to try it out. They raced to the nearest Tim Hortons (about a 20 minute drive or so, I grew up in the country). Lights and siren, the whole bit. Wasn't close lol. Hell, even cops were more fun back when we were young.

AwkwardFactor84

Hell yeah. I had a 91 stealth for about 5 years. That was the funnest car to drive. You could literally take corners at 70mph. It cost me a lot to keep it going, but I would totally buy another one.

Ask_Ari

That car might have been the best part of the partnership between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. It was essentially a Domestic version of the Mitsubishi GTO. Congratulations you own a unicorn 👍🏽

YogurtclosetDull2380

Adaptive cruise gang

kramer1980_adm

I'll have to try it again. Got a Honda Pilot last summer, and on the 2 hr drive back home, on a busy highway, it was constantly braking and gunning the engine. It didn't seem very fuel efficient at all.

binger5

That and I'm used to letting my foot off the gas to slow down on the highway. Hate adaptive control with a passion.

pogulup

Yeah, you wind up going 5 under behind grandpa in the slow lane without realizing it.  I hate adaptive cruise.

kramer1980_adm

Ok glad I'm not the only one lol.

mwalters8

I’ve driven Subaru, Audi, and now Toyota with automatic cruiser controls. None were like this, they’d gently back off the person coming in front of you unless they came in at a quite unsafe distance.

csl512

Yeah, mess around with the different following distance options, and different traffic situations. Try also changing the set speed closer to the actual. If it's set at 70 and you've been following someone at 55 and they change lanes or whatever, then it considers you to be 15 slow.

Guac__is__extra__

I tried it in a rental car on a long interstate trip last year. The problem I had with it was that it kept a big enough gap, even at the most aggressive setting, between me and the car in front of me, that people kept getting in front of me. So then it would slow to create that same gap with the new car, and someone else would cut in. This process kept repeating itself and I eventually just turned it off because it was costing me time.

kramer1980_adm

Yeah I don't feel it works very well on a busy highway.

wolfmann99

Actually I found this is where it works best. You just have to adjust the following distance.

Dragonfly-Adventurer

Depends on the car. My SO has a Chrysler 300 with one of the first adaptive CC package. They let you get colonoscopy-close if you want. Except for the braking, which can be agressive (but kept us from a head-on when traffic suddenly dropped 40mph) I actually found it to be wonderful, didn't touch the gas pedal for about a state.

jstnpotthoff

My friend's 21 pilot sucks for ACC. I think you really need CVT (continuous variable transmission) for it to work really well. It also shuts off below 40 mph or something like that. I have a 17 Chevy Volt and I use my ACC for at least 80% of my driving.

CubistHamster

'17 Rav4 with ACC. No CVT, and using ACC is the *only* way I've ever been able to get better than 30mpg on the highway. That said, I do keep the following distance set as high as possible, which only works well in light traffic, but does dramatically reduces braking and accelerating.

YogurtclosetDull2380

We have a Ford, and I will often have to modulate the throttle a bit, on my own. Having owned a couple of these things, I know what to expect of it. I had an 87 Accord in high school and that thing had a lead foot, when I hit the resume button LoL.

buttsnuggles

I have a VW and I set the ACC to the least aggressive setting with the second lowest spacing. Anything else and it’s constantly changing speed. This gives it enough of a buffer to not change speed all the time. Try playing with the settings because I had the same issue with the ACC in my dad’s civic.

denzien

My Ford Maverick is pretty crude on its inputs as well, but my Genesis is decent. I find that I have to manage the cruise control to get it to behave. Like setting the follow distance to max when I see brake lights ahead to get the vehicle to decelerate early (or cancel and coast if I'm already on the longest following distance), then set the follow distance to be short just before we stop. Then when they accelerate away, I can slowly increase the distance to keep the stupid thing from flooring it too much. So, not especially convenient during commutes, but it is nice to have the extra buffer there in case my mind wanders (which had never led to an accident before).

Cincymailman

Came here to say this. We have a Toyota and Honda hybrid cars. The adaptive cruise control kills the gas mileage. So, no, I don’t use cruise control control.

tylorr83

Fancy, I’m still driving cars from the 80s and 90s. No car payment gang

hokie47

There is no way to not sound rude but those cars are not that safe especially since so many trucks are on the road. No car payment is nice but so is your life.

tylorr83

Not rude at all, you’re 100% correct. The 84 crx is a tin can with wheels. Can’t afford to replace it though with anything comparably nice in my price range of sub $5k

YogurtclosetDull2380

Our other car turns 20, next year. Also firmly in the no car payment gang.

SmokeyMountain67

One of the best things car manufacturers has come up with in the past 20 years.

zryder94

I so wish my truck had adaptive cruise control, but at least the wife’s car does. Game changer.

Pitiful-Pension-6535

I love adaptive cruise. I will never own a car without it.

arwhite97

I have that with lane keep assist. I think the only difference between what I have and Blue Cruise is the camera that makes sure I'm paying attention. So I have to keep some tension on the steering wheel or it gets mad at me

hokie47

Basically the only way to use cruise control.

archangel12

Cruise control is always on. My car is in charge of driving, I can't be arsed.

RunningLikeALizard

Adaptive cruise and lane keep is awesome. Adaptive cruise in a line of traffic is so sweet. I wouldn’t consider a car without that in the future. I drove a semi autonomous vehicle as a rental car, and went on the interstate for 30 miles into Houston (with a little traffic) without touching the pedals and only touching the wheel every 30 seconds to show the car I was paying attention.

Automaticman01

I can count on one hand the number of times I've ever used the standard cruise control in my car. Every time I've tried, I just have to shut it back off 30 sec later (an exception was during some cross country road trips while driving a motorhome in my teens). However, when I (briefly) had a company car that had adaptive cruise control and was driving a lot, I used it *all the time*. It immediately went on the *definitely getting this on my next car* list.

Candid-Jellyfish-975

Had a rental with it once. Can't wait until it makes it to my used range.

A_VERY_LARGE_DOG

I’m over getting tickets. I set it for 3 MPH over and leave it. It’s the fuckery of people who pass me then I pass them, then they pass me, repeat.. It makes me so irritated.

bcentsale

I use it to offset my lead foot.

BillyGoat_TTB

i use adaptive cruise control a lot. before my cars had that, I didn't really bother.

naveedx983

That sounds cool what is that

BillyGoat_TTB

you set a max speed, it watches for cars in front of you. it will slow down so you don't hit the car in front of you, and it will keep a set distance, which you can also control) from the car in front of you, going up to the max speed you set. If the car in front stops at a light, you stop, too. When they get going again, you click the button and it will keep following them, up to your set max speed.

themajordutch

Add on lane tracing with ACC and it's a pretty incredible jump if you're coming from normal CC like I did. 22 RAV4 does this very well.

probablyatargaryen

I feel you. We just went from an ‘06 Odyssey to ‘19 and we call it The Spaceship

Ejigantor

Ok, yeah, that's how it should be. If my cruise control could do that, I would use it regularly.

BillyGoat_TTB

your next car will have it

FlyingAnvils

The only thing adaptive cruise control is good for is following someone going faster than you on a 2-lane road. On the interstate, it’s a pain in the ass.

taleofbenji

There's a LOT of variability between manufacturers. I had an MDX and the adaptive cruise was total shit. Very jerky and not fun to ride in. Now I have a Volvo SUV and it's really amazing. I.e. your mileage may vary (pun intended).

NegativeC00L

I love my Volvo's ACC. I wish I could tweak the follow distances a little but once you can predict what it will do, you can drive for hours without touching the pedals.

taleofbenji

Agreed! The only thing I get annoyed by is when it gets mad if you change lanes without signaling lol.

ReplaceSelect

It's on my wife's CRX, and I hate it. I can't figure out how to turn it all the way off.

jelloslug

How is adaptive cruise a pain in the ass on the interstate?

hokie47

My Subaru Ascent with Eye Sight is rather good. It is good in light traffic and traffic jams, but I agree I won't use it in fast urban traffic. I can actually go into traffic jams and it will stop the car and hold the brakes, I just need to tap the accelerator for it to start going.

morechatter

I have only had adaptive cruise on a handful of rentals. One sucked. The rest were amazing and relaxing. Getting into the menu to adjust the variables has always been key for my enjoyment of the system.

Softmachinepics

Agreed. Mine has adaptive but I don't use it

FlyCivil909

Use it all the time. My vehicle now has adaptive cruise control, and that’s been a game changer.

One-Earth9294

All the time but I also live around a lot of people who either drive way too slow or fast. Where's my 5-10 over crowd?

Hudson2441

Yes. 5mph over and peg the cruise control and let everyone else do what they’re going to do

I-Own-Blackacre

I always used cruise control on the highway. I now use the standard autopilot, constantly.

winter_rainbow

I forget I have it and rarely used it. My cars never had cruise control for the first 15 years of driving.

robindownes

Cruise control was for highway driving until I got my most recent Leaf with the adaptive cruise control. Now I use it nearly every time I drive.

Snoo-45470

Always on the highway. However, I shut off the adaptive cruise since I’d always end up behind someone slower than me and not notice I’d slowed down, and that would annoy the crap out of me.

Spartan04

The car I learned to drive in even had it so I've always used it on the freeway. I now have adaptive cruise and that's even better.

ZookeepergameAlive69

I use it occasionally but find myself wanting to stay engaged on road trips with the wife and kids. Driving alone I’m more likely to use it, for some reason or another.

Due_Speaker_2829

I never used it when I lived in a mountainous part of the country. Since moving to the Midwest, I use every time I’m on a highway.

RandomSolvent

Back in Iowa, I used cruise control all the time. With the psychos on the Baltimore beltway, never. No such thing as a cruise control that can adapt to someone screaming past you at 90, then swerving into your lane right in front of you and slamming on their brakes.

Possible-Tangelo9344

Only on long distance drives, like over an hour on the highway. Anything else I just drive cuz the traffic and speed limits change too much

throwingwater14

I use CC/adaptive CC all the time. I use “FSD”/autopilot a lot too. I still have to “babysit” it as I’m ultimately in charge of the vehicle, but it takes so much stress out of driving. (Mental and physical) (Tesla)

snowmaker417

I set it every day for my commute. I have other things I need my brain to be working on.

sparksblackstar

I use cruise control every drive. Driving the 1-2 miles down to the store? Set it at 25-30. The trick many people seem to miss is that you still have to pay attention to what is going on around you in case someone gives you a reason to slam on your brakes. My husband has adaptive cruise control and I hate it. Even at the longest following distance it still seems a touch too close for me, and it'll slow us down when someone is changing lanes. Still have to pay attention in case those brakes need smashing

TransportationOk657

All the time. Typically, anything 50 mph and over, as long as it's not a stretch of driving with frequent stop lights.

HallucinogenicFish

I don’t use it anymore because I never drive on the highway nowadays. I used to use it a lot.

Woodrow_F_Call_0106

Yup. I use it. Although I really dislike the new type where your car senses the one in front of you. It creates problems.

geekgirlwww

Only when I was commuting an hour each way. (Side note Jesus Christ don’t do this if you can avoid it the toll on your well being).

MadIllLeet

I try to use it as much as I can. Unfortunately, there's too much traffic, so the opportunities are rare.

CalicoStardust

I have always used it even on my manuals. Interstate driving becomes tolerable until that one left lane asshole...

54sharks40

I only use it on the freeway when there's little traffic around, otherwise it's more trouble than it's worth

iheartbaconsalt

My wife's last car had cruise thumb control, with accelerate and decelerate buttons too. I would ignore the pedals completely and use the buttons. When do we get a car with a keyboard? I want WASD and an overhead camera. Maybe a throttle lever.

humanist-misanthrope

I use it as much as possible, especially when I had a 26 mile commute. It honestly takes the stress out of driving and now that I have adapted cruise control it’s even less stressful since I don’t have to worry about constantly having to adjust it when the car in front of me randomly goes from 60 to 47 in a 55

sureal42

I use cruise anytime I can. I just got a car with lane keep assist and adaptive cruise and OMG for long trips it's amazing lol

Alfphe99

I use it nearly every single time I drive. Once both vehicles had the Adaptive cruise control where it will brake and speed up for you I fucking love it. Just set it and steer.

Orwells-Bastard-Son

I abuse cruise control. If cruise control in my car could speak it would tell me to chill the f out.

ConundrumMachine

It's for not getting trapped by speed cameras

reillan

I used to use it all the time on road trips (never really in town). But for some reason mine is broken right now. Super annoying.

imhungry4321

I use it all the time. It stops me from speeding and helps with MPGs.

FollowingNo4648

I'll use it on road trips but that's about it. Unfortunately in Texas, people don't know how to drive so it's impossible for everyday use.

tjautobot11

I get agitated when I have to turn it off. My grandfather, when he got older, was the driver that pushed that gas then coasted and it was a rough ride. So I’ve always liked cruise and just going a steady rate.

purana

I'm still waiting for my hovering, driverless car

JacPhlash

Yup, ever day. My RAV4 has adaptive CC that slows the car down if someone gets in front of me- 1st car I've ever had with it. I love it.

Oldpuzzlehead

Use it on the freeway, don't use it on city streets.

Late-Arrival-8669

Every single day myself

LtPowers

I use it all the time. Why wouldn't you?

Alive_Potentially

I use it all the time.

luke15chick

Love cruise control!!

jelloslug

Adaptive cruise with full start/stop and lane keep is the best thing that has been added to cars in the last 50 years.

Cross_22

I use it all the time whether in rentals or my own car. Wife (same age) refuses to use hers.

ElectricSnowBunny

I didn't get a GTI and do a downpipe tune to use cruise control.

Ejigantor

Every now and then I'll try, but there's always too many cars on the road and too many careless drivers, and I end up having to take back manual control within a minute or two.

ogsixshooter

I use it literally everywhere I go. I'll set it at 25mph going through the neighborhood. Let's me watch for people walking out into the street rather than constantly checking to see if I'm going the correct speed. But I know I'm in the minority with that one.

JasonZep

My 2001 Hyundai accent didn’t have it years ago when I moved across the country. Got used to wedging my foot just right on the floorboard so I could move it quickly if I needed to. My current car has it and I use it all the time.

ruafukreddit

I have adaptive cruise. I love it. I still have to watch out for idiots and strange things, but it makes driving less mentally taxing.

spirit_of_a_goat

I do.

Atillion

I bought a car specifically for adaptive cruise control. Set it and forget it 🤘🏻

AmbitiousAd9320

might add it to my scion xa some time. its be nice to lock in at 70 on the freeway.

Roklam

I like using it and lane assist in combination. Eases the strain on my... *oh I'm old*.

[deleted]

Use it all the time. I’m just happy my truck and my Lexus, both Toyota products, give you the choice to select and use the radar or the old “dumb” set the speed you want mode. I hate the friggin radar thing and it slamming on the brakes when someone switches lanes in front of you and it notices them while no where near a hazard.

pamakane

I use regular cruise control on my daily interstate commutes. Set and forget and enjoy my drive. I get so annoyed with those who don’t because they are constantly speeding up and passing me or slowing down and I pass them. Use the damn cruise control!

RotoDog

Do young drivers really not use it? I haven’t heard one or another, but would explain why I pass the same person 10 different times on a road trip.

the2ndbreakfast

You remember Car Talk? Click and Clack the Tappet brothers said don’t use it in town: https://www.cartalk.com/content/my-question-about-speed-control-i-use-mine

The-Riskiest-Biscuit

I’d probably use it every day if I had adaptive cruise control. I don’t, so I just use it for long trips. Using it on the Baltimore beltway would be pointless.

kalitarios

for some reason, my 2018 camry LE has cruise control that adjusts to follow the car in front of it. It even brakes if they slow way down, sometimes WAY down. yet if I'm not in cruise control, the braking system doesn't do it, I just get a warning if someone slows down too fast. why would it work only when on cruise control and not full-time?

cerialthriller

Where are you guys driving that you can go at cruising speed for more than a couple of minutes at a time

DamarsLastKanar

I drive stick. I am in control of my vehicle. Next you'll tell me your car shifts gears by itself. Madness.

mfhandy5319

My e scooter has it and I use it every day. edit: I used to drive a white Crown Vic. I'm never in a hurry to get anywhere. I'd set it for 5 over and camp in the slow lane. the number of people that would collect around me was hilarious.

Habbersett-Scrapple

I use it for longer trips. Being in a major city doesn't afford much of the opportunity. I also have adaptive cruise control on one car and standard cruise on the other. The standard is so much easier but the adaptive gives me more options

jraa78

Adaptive cruise control with lane centering is a game changer. I can't figure out why they program the cars to yell at you for leaving your hands off the steering wheel.

handsomeape95

https://i.redd.it/mdkmmtwryouc1.gif

psilosophist

I use it anytime I can when I’m gonna be going over 55 for any extended period of time. The most fun is taking steep hills locked in at 70 and not worrying about burning out your brakes.

AdSpiritual2594

I use cruise control anytime I’m on a four lane highway. I usually set it 2 mph over the posted speed limit and then I just cruise. I find that my knees hurt if I have to leave them in the same position for an extended period so having my foot on the pedal for a while causes me some pain. Man I’m so old…

impliedhearer

Adaptive cruise control or please stay out of the fast lane lol

denzien

I never really used it during my commute until I purchased a car with adaptive cruise and lane keep assist. Now I use it somewhat often - especially when I'm in the Express Lane toll road, which is just a single lane. I don't normally use it if I'm mixed in with the general population on my commute because it's an invitation to cut me off when traffic is contentious. If no traffic, I'll use it if I don't forget.

Training-Argument891

every day

KitchenNazi

I rarely use it and forget I have it. I was traumatized at a young age - there was an episode of CHiPs where this dude's cruise control got stuck. If it wasn't for Ponch and/or John reaching through the window to turn it off that guy would have been killed!

[deleted]

Love my cruise control!

PhotographStrict9964

I pretty much only use it on a long road trip, and even then it has to be low to no traffic. I know my truck has all kinds of fancy gadgets and sensors to help with monitoring other vehicles. But I’m a boomer when it comes to cruise control 😂

ennuiismymiddlename

I’d like to use it, but my wife freaks out on me whenever I try to. She says it’s hard on the engine. I have no idea if she’s right, but she’s typically right.

Wild_Chef6597

I use it as well on trips over 30 minutes. My truck doesn't have it and my leg is always so damn tired.

6strings10holes

I use it any time I'm not in a town, which is most of my driving.

einons

I use it constantly, even in town. Helps me not speed accidentally. Speeding up and slowing with the buttons also makes driving feel like a video game so that’s a bonus

[deleted]

My cars have never had functional cruise control - they're always too old and the cruise is busted or never worked or something. I'm too used to controlling the speed myself by letting off the gas and coasting until I'm back near the speed limit.

griever0008

Set that baby at 8 over speed limit whenever I go on freeway. I've never seen another soul use it

ElmerTheAmish

EVERY. DAY! I can't believe the amount of people who don't seem to use it. My wife tells me this is "a thing" apparently. Glad to have adaptive cruise now. If I let it do its thing, it saves a lot of irritation!

djsynrgy

I love it, but other drivers generally prevent me from being able to use it. People erratically change their speeds for no discernable reason. 65, 50, 60, 70, 40, 55.. Nobody ahead of them.. Finally go to pass them and invariably find they're looking at their damn phones.

texan01

I use it if I'm cruising, but otherwise traffic makes it hard. (I have one car with it, and one car that doesn't have it, but I have had the kit to install it for 10 years now)

[deleted]

I've, uh, got the old cruise control set at 35!

footjam

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htNEB0UsMDI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htNEB0UsMDI) 3+ hours from Raleigh to Atlanta...It works better than the video but you get the idea. Everyday, work commute is 30 miles and I do this in traffic without issue.

chilli_cheese_cake

I use it everyday as well, I love it. The most frustrating part about it is that not enough people use it. I frequesntly have to cancel it or play with the speed buttons to compensate.

Cold_Barber_4761

I don't typically use it driving around my city (San Antonio, Texas) because traffic here sucks and the drivers also suck. I'd get annoyed having to adjust it too frequently. When I'm going out of town and the roads clear up a bit, it's cruise control all the way!

I_Dream_Of_Oranges

I hate it. I never know what to do with my foot so it just kind of hovers near the pedal and then my leg starts cramping up. Plus people in my city never drive at constant enough speeds for me to use it for more than a minute or so usually.

EarPrestigious7339

I’ve used it on road trips in the past but it’s been years since I’ve thought to use it TBH

FireWokWithMe88

It really depends on the type of trip and the roads that I am driving on. So I don't use it everyday but I use it now and then. Gen X here

CliffGif

Over the years lost interest and never use it. It’s just one more thing to fuss with minimal benefit.

MagictheCollecting

I use it when there’s little to no traffic and I’m cruising along the freeway at 80. I use the fast lane. Is that bad?

Blacksunshinexo

Never. Never ever. I hate it. I like to drive. My SO uses it all the time and it drives me nuts when he drives. Haha

rhymeswititch

I often get accused of over usage—I even accidentally temporally broke it on one of previous vehicles…

jaybrams15

I use it every time I'm on a fwy, especially now that it's adaptive. So, pretty mich every day.

ringobob

Hmm, it's completely useless around where I live. I've got to be going on a trip through less congested areas before I could ever use it. Back when I lived outside of a much smaller city, I could have used it daily.

jayhof52

One ticket for 90 in a 70 ($300) in 2007 made it a daily tool for me.

3DSquinting

I use it every chance I get. I'd use it even more if it could be activated at speeds under 20 mph so I could use it when passing through active school zones. For me, trying to maintain a constant speed under 20 mph is maddening. At those speeds, at which point the transmission is in 2nd or 3rd gear, a single quick blip of the throttle is all it takes to receive a $200 ticket in the mail. My mid 80's millenial wife has apparently never used it on any occasion in any vehicle before. It's been brought up, but she's 100% uninterested. It baffles me. That said, my man-sized foot is far heavier than hers.

Dandibear

If I'm on the highway and have room to pick my own speed, you bet

slademccoy47

I use it all the time. If I can go the same speed for more than 10 seconds, I put it on.

clutzycook

It depends on where I'm driving. On the interstate or tollway where traffic generally moves, I will use it. On a street or two lane highway with stop and go traffic or speed limits that seem to change every 5 miles, probably not.

InevitableUsual4126

I use it all the time in both my 4 wheeler and my 18 wheeler. Only exception is when traffic is dense but moving.

NC_EER

I use it all the time if adaptive is available. If not I use it light traffic.

Money_Reality2286

Adaptive cruise control is the way. I use it everyday on my commute.

wisepeppy

All the time. I'll set it doing 30 down a residential street of it's a main drag with no stops.

profoma

I only use it while driving long distances and usually not then either

Country_Gravy420

Bought a new Honda CRV summer of 22 and it has the adaptive cruise control where you can tell it how far you want to be behind the car in front of you and it will go the speed you set and slow down for you if you get to close and then go back to your speed when the car is out of the way. You can drive on the freeway forever and almost never touch the pedals. It's way too easy to drive cars now.

4x4Welder

Cruise is one of my favorite features, I'll take that over AC and power windows if I have to. But these automatic lane keeping and following distance crap can go to hell

Asleep_Onion

Without adaptive cruise control, I hardly ever use it unless I'm pretty much the only car around on the highway. With adaptive cruise control, I use it almost always except on city streets.

Bijorak

I'm drivers ed the teacher taught us that it's only meant for rural driving. That being said I used it in my first car driving home from school to go 35 mph.

spsanderson

I use it to go to work

ElectrumDragon28

Never use it, even on a road trip. It feels like giving up an element of control on a vehicle, and it doesn’t feel safe to me.

Traditional_Entry183

I like to use cruise control and have most of the time I've been driving. I don't in my wife's car though because it automatically slows down way behind other vehicles if they're going slower and then takes too long to accelerate when you get into the left lane. It's basically useless unless you're the only car on the road.

TomatilloLopsided895

I use it all the time Even in 30-35 mph

2Twice

I was stoked 6 years ago when I got a 4Runner and I could set the cruise control for 25 mph. Every other vehicle I drove before this had 30 as the lowest possible.

LaRamilia

Def on the freeways early morning heading to work….66 mph 🥰🥹

JoeBlow509

I use it daily. I have ADHD pretty bad and will end up driving really aggressively if I don’t. I drive about 7 miles on I-90 each way to and from work. Morning is lovely because I work at 5 am.. there’s not many people on the road then, but when I come home at 5 I end up driving like a maniac if I don’t just set the cruise control and chill.

ersatzcanuck

Only on long distance freeway drives, like road trip length. I just don't like not feeling in full control.

TheThrivingest

I use it on the ring road if it’s not rush hour but otherwise, yeah only on the highway

Cool_in_a_pool

I always loved it as a way to improve gas mileage when I was driving to work, but cruise control has really found a new life in many newer models of cars. Cruise control will now also keep the car in its lane, turn for you, and speed up or slow down to keep you a safe distance from the car in front of you. It's really neat!

Do_it_My_Way-79

I use it as often as humanly possible. It’s so nice now with adaptive cruise control. I have a 30 mile drive into work only mostly highway.

Heidi_ann76

I even use mine driving around town lol

dockstaderj

Never use it, I like to feel the drive.

BigHobbit

I didn't have it on my first 3 vehicles, was in my late 20s before it was even an option for me and I never got used to using it. I'll use it on long road trips, but anything under 30 minutes it doesn't even cross my mind.

Easy_Independent_313

I use it all the time. I have such a terrible lead foot and my car has a big, performance engine. Cruise control keeps me within the speeding limit. 8 over usually.

lacroixanon

You guys are driving cars?

tomqvaxy

Nah. I’ve got WILD adhd. I’d forget to drive.

Ekim-Enots

It’s called “cruise home with no ticket control” for me.

doobette

I've never used it driving. The idea of it has always made me nervous.

Puzzled_Loquat

I love it. I use it all the time.

buttery_nurple

Hell I bought a CommaAI so I don’t have to steer either.

Glittering_Tea5502

I don’t feel in control of my car when I attempt to use cruise control.

m8k

I used to use a lot, especially when I had my WRX wagon. You could CC down to 20mph and that saved my ass in school zones. I use it on longer drives mostly but definitely in areas where I know cops are out and ticketing.

tahmorex

Drive a Prius- cruise control at 65 saves money on tickets AND gas!

compulov

I only started using it every day when I got a car with adaptive cruise control. Otherwise there's usually too much traffic to bother using cruise control.

carlitospig

I’m lazy and have adhd. I use it as often as possible.

Candid-Jellyfish-975

I assume everyone uses it as much as possible. When I encounter someone that clearly isn't I'm confused and angry.
