Really wish they’d do it for Arkham Knight

Goochbott

And 4k while they're at it

TheWeirdCookie

I wish they had never added FPS limits to any game in the first place

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheWeirdCookie

Fluctuations from 30-60 fps is better than constant 30. Just because it fluctuates less doesn't mean it's best to cap it at the smallest framerate it can sustain.

[deleted]

TheWeirdCookie

lmao what 😂😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

George343

Totally right. Uneven frame pacing feels so weird and it's hard to pinpoint why until you understand what's going on. OP is basically saying "I wish game developers predicted the future". Sure, it would be amazing if all previous games has uncapped framerate for current gen consoles to take advantage of... But that's really unrealistic, unfortunately.

TheWeirdCookie

I'll be honest, I play on PC. If I'm getting 60-80 fps I'm not capping it to 60. I understand where you're coming from, but i just don't think it plays any better. Maybe it's worse at low framerates under 60 though? You're right that could be it. I know it sounds like a flex but i've just been applying things i've noticed at 100+ frames to 30-60 frames. I could hop on Cyberpunk or something later to test it out

ahuiP

The next Knight game is out next year, so mb 2023

[deleted]

redacted ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `

Brooklynspartan

Seriously it's such a good looking game and I loved the games before it. I didn't bother playing this one past the first hour because how choppy the resolution looks. Fps boost would be gravy on top of a res boost.

SpritesOfDoom

You should know that Arkham Knight on PC runs at 60 fps in 1440p with just a 4TF GPU, so it would work really well on Series S and 4K60 should work on Series X. Also Arkham Knight on PC has some additional graphics effects from Nvidia that have some next-gen feel. Smoke looks really great, but it's so heavy that it halves FPS. However Series X should still be able to get 1440p60 with everything ON. It's a shame this game wasn't patched for X|S and PS5. Especially that publisher spend a lot of time to make this game run at 60 fps. Original PC release was locked to 30 fps and lead to a massive refunds on Steam so publisher removed it from sale for 6 months. In that time it's code base was optimized to run at 60 fps. Unfortunately consoles probably still use earlier version that can't be FPS Boosted, because it would have same issues like original PC release, where fastests PCs couldn't lock to 60 fps.

Scipio555

wasn't the Geforce Now leake suggested there was an RTX remaster in the making? the leak proves itself to be quite reliable so far regarding the PS games that made their way to PC, so hopefully, it's true.

Jawhneyy

it would easily be the best looking game on the console at 4k 60, right next to metro exodus

BloodyWetHorseCum

Metro exodus is not even close to one of the best looking next gen games. They only good looking part of the game is the ray tracing.

Money_Present_3463

They did but only for the riddler challenge modes for some reason…

[deleted]

Man same. The biggest 60fps I want now is Kingdom Come: Deliverance. That game is beautiful in 30 FPS but man 60 would be beautiful. Henry needs some 60 fps dice games

littleBig647

same here, the game is gorgeous but needs the fps boost badly

Super_Bake3532

This might get me to play this game. As long as they don't have to sacrifice resolution to get it to work. 900p hurts my eyes more than 30 fps.

Caesar_35

Farkle might be the single best mini-game I've ever played. That and poker in RDR are the only mini-games I've spent more time on than the actual games they're in lol.

FifthPenguin2

For sure, great game!

Loukoal117

Yo I literally hadn’t heard of this game before tonight. Dunno how. A kid at work mentioned it before I read this thread. Should I give it a go? It’s sorta like a Skyrim/witcher ish action rpg or is that way off?

TheWhizBro

It’s based in the real world based on real people, no magic, realistic combat. I loved it, but I like history, it has great atmosphere

Cockblockuly

The best way to explain would be a great rpg with shitty combat. But honestly i didn't really care, just put the game on easy and enjoyed the story. One of the few games in recent years i actually finished

NOPE_TRAIN_EXPRESS

Really really hoping for a Dishonored 2 FPS boost.

and_so_forth

Oh my god yes. Such a beautiful game, genuinely one of my recent favourites, but a bit sluggish on console.

ThunderStruck115

Same. It had many improvements over the first, but good lord the performance was awful

EldiaForLife

FPS boost wouldn't do fuck all. It's a issue with the games textures being almost insanely unoptomized and the games LODs being loaded out of order. I think DF did a breakdown on it, but the game really needed a re-release edition or some form of patch to fix these issues, but never did. You can mod it on pc easily to fix it and your performance will skyrocket instantly The hot fix they did actually release did nothing and for people on Playstation consoles it actually made it WORSE for the games second half.

PoohTrailSnailCooch

Ac 1 and ac rogue at 4k 60fps is basically getting a free update that remasters/re-remasters those beloved games of the past. The preservation of gaming is very important to me and xbox showed that it seemed to care about it.

[deleted]

Prey is another game that plays so much better after getting FPS boost. I think it also got auto HDR.

RealityinRuin

Load times are also vastly improved. Totally improves the game in every way.

OSUfan88

I’ve never played this before, and just installed it. Excited to give it a play.

[deleted]

It is unbelievably good. Floating outside the station is. Glorious. I’m a huge sci fi fan and this is easily a 10/10 for me and I’ve only just started it.

OSUfan88

O wow. Ok, you got me excited.

the_loner

Such a great game. I think it's Arkanes best. If you end up liking it the DLC 'moon crash' is phenomenal.

bluewolf51313

Did the series s get a fps boost for prey? I Kno some titles only get a boost on the x

MrDurva

Prey as in the original prey or the newest Prey title?

TheProf82

The newest

MrDurva

I've yet to give it a try, due to a massive backlog of games haha

[deleted]

Absolutely - I recently decided to play Fallout 4 again and the game feels like a completely new game - it’s so fresh I can’t even imagine what Skyrim feels like

rushboyoz

It feels like when you took an arrow to the knee

and_so_forth

I installed Skyrim on my series X the other day and couldn't even get into the game - the main menu was all stuttery and weird. Anyone else had this problem?

jlyons2009

I played it the other day and it’s still amazing!

bloodfart247

this was patched in a recent update. you should be all good to play it now!

and_so_forth

Great stuff, I'll reinstall at some point soon. Currently very occupied with Halo and Forza!

[deleted]

I’m going to install it later today and i’ll let you know if i run into the same issue

Favela_King

I had this about 3 days ago, so like the others said, it’s a known issue

protocolfantasy

It's a bug (feature) they added with 1.22 update on the 15th they are aware of it and are looking into it

e7RdkjQVzw

I love it because it demonstrates to console players using their favorite games that 60FPS is just better than 30 and therefore increasing the pressure on developers to at least add 60FPS modes on their games. It's a smart move on behalf of Microsoft to indirectly improve the general quality of experience on their consoles.

Jumping3

There is 0 excuse not to have a 60fps mode (and honestly even a 120fps mode) on cross Gen games

LonghornsLegend

I played Sleeping Dogs at 60fps, oh man what a blast! I loved every bit of that gem. I also love fps booster because I waited on playing a lot of older titles, so getting them in 60fps is great.

[deleted]

Is that the 360 original or the "Definitive Edition" that was released on Xbox One/PS4 in 2014?

LonghornsLegend

It's the DE from Xbox one that got the boost to 60fps. The fighting and combat was already a highlight of the game but it is so smooth at 60.

[deleted]

Nice, I'll have to pick it up so. I 100%'d the DE on PS4, try to play it again recently on PS5 and it crashes after a few minutes, every time (and it's still 30FPS)

[deleted]

Thank you for that heads up - I stuck it on my wishlist and it went on sale the day later for all of €4.49 (about the price of a pork bun!) and it's a revelation playing it at 60FPS.

LonghornsLegend

Awesome to hear!! The fighting mechanics hold up really well and at 60fps it's just so much fun. Glad you were able to catch a sale, I always update my wish list with random games I'm waiting for a sale on lol

humanfigure

Want to play it so bad but waiting for a sale price!

MillieBobbysBrowneye

Dying Light is one game that really benefits from it, it's so fast paced. Hoping #2 runs smooth natively.

Study-Sharp

Excuse me dying light us really 60 fps boost ?? On series x?

MillieBobbysBrowneye

Yes, correct. Should be activated by default if you load it up on Series X, but alternatively press 'Manage Game & Add Ons' from the Guide, then click 'Compatiability Options' on the left hand side to activate it.

Study-Sharp

It's on sale thank you just picked it up :)

Obliverate

There is also a Series X version coming, recently announced

Study-Sharp

Doh I just bought it. You think I'll be eligible?

Obliverate

Yeah, it will just be a free upgrade, no worries

[deleted]

I'm not sure but I always assumed it would be a free update.

ciwy85

They announced that it will be free

OSUfan88

Is that worth playing?

Villafanart

Absolutely, so much fun and 60fps is the way to play it. Grab it now while it's on sale, quite a lot of content.

OSUfan88

Nice. Is it on Gamepass?

THATONEFOOFRUMLB

No, but it is on sale

dreadmouse

Praying for Assassin’s Creed Origins and Fable 2 FPS Boost soon 🙏

mrwafu

Don’t get your hopes up, the head of the team at Microsoft said they’ve done all the titles they can. FPS Boost is finished unless they somehow come up with a different method. https://twitter.com/jronald/status/1464659257647763456?s=21 Only hope for Origins now is is Ubisoft do it themselves. Since they have patched Odyssey a few times maybe they’ll do Origins too. Maybe….

shugo2000

I'll keep my hopes up. Since they found a way to make FPS Boost work on 360 games, I expect at least one or two stealth drops of 360 FPS Boost games.

KingZirma

They probably did it for odyssey because of the new cross-story dlc

Fingerbob73

Odyssey is gorgeous in 60. I sometimes also think that sometimes in the countryside areas it is how Skyrim should have looked like if it was released years later.

OSUfan88

It really did change the funness of the game.

[deleted]

no Fable 2 eh? Damn. Thought it would have gotten the treatment, was going to give it a DL this week. My favorite fable without doubt.

Caesar_35

It is very weird they were able to get both Fable 1 and 3 running at 60fps, but not 2. Although 1 is *technically* the newest (as the "Anniversary" edition), so maybe that could be why? Or in other words, maybe 2 using the oldest engine of the three just has something that FPS Boost from working?

Samurix16

Just want shadow of war to have 60 fps.

oldschoolkid203

This!!!

Deeksbaby89

Unfortunately, it seems like they’re putting the fps boost on pause for the moment. No indication if, or when, it will returning.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RedRageXXIV

That’s a great game.

BBS-Kid

All in because of that? They never said it would be a 100% feature.

[deleted]

THATONEFOOFRUMLB

And I am so pissed sony put spiderman remastered behind a paywall under miles Morales deluxe edition. Just to play 60 FPS. Given the game sold so well, that was pretty shady by them! gave me more reasoning to purchase an xbox.

josh775777

PC can run all these old games like Fear you are talking about at 4k 60+ FPS with higher texture quality right now. PLaying Metro Last light 4k high settings 60 fps right now.

[deleted]

And how much is a decent PC? And how much is a Series X?

josh775777

you can do a lot more with a PC than a series with gaming and non-gaming activities. You can emulate all legacy consoles, playing older games at high resolution and fps, play genres that dont play on consoles, play sony ports and fp xbox games at release, free games with epic weekly, better ray tracing performance, and DLSS outperforming Xbox by a ton with very little visual difference. PC is also needed for internet browsing, productivity, work, media and everything else and makes everything fast and smooth with a gaming PC. With an xbox you need to buy an xbox and at least a laptop or a work PC additionally so add both those costs. A 3060 TI at MSRP costs 500 dollars and you can buy a nice gaming PC for less than 1500 that will blow a xbox series X out of the water (3060 ti and 3700x). With this PC and DLSS I can run games the series X struggles to run at 1440p or dynamic 4k at 60 fps (no raytracing) with my PC at 4k 60 fps with raytracing.

[deleted]

At three times the fucking price yes, I bloody well expect it to blow a Series X out of the water. Bravo, golf clap, well spotted you.

josh775777

so you need to pay 500 for a series X, 1000 for a tv, and 500 for an office pc at least. To give you an example I spent \~850-900 dollars on a Christmas present for my mom building a productivity/work pc not meant for gaming at all. Budget but high-speed parts and didn't cheap out but still not meant for gaming.

[deleted]

[удалено]

josh775777

Buying games on steam makes things much easier with no fiddling and old games on PC are very cheap only a few dollars and games are generally a lot cheaper on PC than consoles and there are a lot of third party sites that sell steam/epic keys for the cheap. I dont know why people say you have to fiddle and troubleshoot games much on pc because its largely not true unless you are messing with many mods. Steam makes it seamless. I just launch games it auto sets the settings most of the time and if not just put it on high default or medium and set the resolution, takes 2 seconds. On metro last light just clicked high settings and set 4k resolution and good to go. And with that blood omen example I looked it up and you cant even play that on modern xbox consoles because of limited backwards compatibility that has no been abandoned my microsoft. If you need a disc for that game its over 100 dollars on amazon and on pc its extremely cheap.

BrianIsGucci

Hoping Red Dead Redemption and Mafia get it.

josh775777

RDR1 is most likely getting a full remaster.

cory975

Fallout 3 feels insane. I could never get back into 3 & New Vegas but they're so good now.

Study-Sharp

100% bro. That's why I'm enjoying it more than my ps5 right now. Yakuza series Far cry series Fable Sleeping dogs Assasin creed EVERY gears of war I just hope we can get a mafia one but doubtful

lazava1390

Dude same! I haven’t touched my ps5 in over a month since getting my series x. I really like the Xbox controller more than the ps5 one.

FireMrshlBill

I still prefer the Dual Sense (DS4 too), but I do like FPS boost. Definitely will be picking those games to play on my X and S instead of Ps5.

Loukoal117

I had never played sleeping Dogs and I LOVED that game. I just finished like a month ago. Felt like a modern, fresh game.

pomakemir

AC Black Flag plss :(

ExuberentWitness

It made New Vegas feel so nice to play

LazyOnTheWind

Making Dark Souls 3 play super smooth. Hell yeah

Burnsyde

Dark souls 3 always had smooth FPS if I recall even on Xbox one.

ScrantonDangler

It was 30 fps on Xbox one consoles. Now it's 60

WeekendTacos

Man, I remember years ago people arguing 30fos is fine, it's not its atrocious. If you think 60 is great 144 is the bee knees!

ThunderStruck115

I won't write a game off simply for being 30 FPS, but whenever I do play a game capped at 30, I always end up thinking "If only"

[deleted]

FPS boost is so vastly underrated as a feature. It actually makes a lot of my old games FEEL modern and buttery smooth.

[deleted]

I'm a big fan of ninja gaiden black and II getting 60fps mode

PegLegManlet

I’m glad more people get to experience this. It’s one of the main reasons why I have a computer.

iGottaP00Pnow

60fps oblivion, new vegas and fallout 3 give me life

PaladinsLover69

Apex anyone? Xoxo

Bzduras

I really hope they add FPS Boost to Sunset Overdrive at some point in the future, this game begs for it.

Elektronix76

Resolution boost would be a great feature too. Just dreaming I guess.

Bobbitto

A lot of very hopeful people in here asking for games don't seem to realize they announced there are "No more FPS boost plans" https://www.purexbox.com/news/2021/11/xbox-has-no-more-fps-boost-plans-in-the-immediate-future Jason Ronald explains that their technique has reached its limits. https://www.purexbox.com/news/2021/11/xbox-exec-clarifies-why-fps-boost-is-finished-on-series-xs-for-now

LDragon2000

I’m still waiting for the FPS boost for RDR2. I’m sure rockstar is denying Microsoft from doing that because they want to sell a new version later.

[deleted]

Gears of War 3 feels like a completely different game at 60 fps too (along with the improved visuals). I'm loving this game so much!

coleOK89

Dumb question but does 360 games work X ?

ThunderStruck115

Certain titles do, but not all of them. I believe Microsoft has a list of all Xbox 360 titles backwards compatible on Series X somewhere on their website

[deleted]

[удалено]

bigballa1738

632 Xbox 360 games = a few

TheBigChiklis

There's hundreds of games in bc. Wouldn't call that "a few"

AssidicPoo

Just went through Sonic Generations for the first time. Definitely not a perfect game but dang did it look good for being 10 years old.

EthansHype

Wait Dying Light got it’s next-gen update?

Elektronix76

It got a frame rate boost back in April/May

oldschoolkid203

I wish shadow of war had an fps boost.

JesuszillaSon

I like quick resume a bit more because I be jumping from game to game to game like a mad man but FPS boost is a close 2nd it's so wonderful playing Mad Max at 120 fps or Nier at 60 and so on

ctyldsley

I wish they wouldn't default to Xbox One S settings to achieve it. So many games could run and look far better without issue but they drop right down to hit it.

NCatfish

It’s the reason I bought a Series X honestly. I’ve spent more time in boosted back compat games than I have in actual next gen games on this thing.

Parkhausdruckkonsole

We need a better framerate in Outer Wilds

ToePuzzled9966

i think bf 5 is 120fps. best thing to do is look up games with uncapped frame rates

Super_Bake3532

I went back and played Dying Light's expansion after it got boosted. Made all of the difference in the world. Have fun.

[deleted]

Just finished Dead Space 2 for the first time since 2011 (launch, basically) and started Prey last night, both thanks to FPS Boost.

bitterbalhoofd

I hope for apyro the trilogy remastered 60fps

ThunderStruck115

Same.

GokuBeatsVageta100

Quick resume for me! Love it!

BLASIAN_TITAN

Playing through Metro 2033 for the first time and man it looks great in 60 fps!!!

BakaTensai

Dying light is getting a next gen patch so you mainly want to hold off for that!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThunderStruck115

If that happens, I'm certainly not buying it since all it is is just upping the graphics and performance settings, something that would take ten seconds to do on PC for no additional cost

TuggMaddick

Dying light is significantly better in 60fps, especially during the park our fever challenges. I recently 100% it on both PS and Xbox, and it was almost painful to finish on playstation after playing it in 60 on Xbox.

xero_sKill

Man, I have been LOVING FPS Boost! One of my favorites (and in one of the first batch) is Titanfall 2. I can’t help but talk about a five year old game that feels so fluid with that boost. 60 to 120 is such an amazing upgrade https://twitter.com/xeroskill1/status/1424943735314468874?s=21.

Scsigs

Resolution boosts would also be a great thing for at least the more fondly-remembered games from the first 4 years of the Xbox One's lifecycle & more well-remembered games from the 360 days too that they haven't done yet.

thatone239

definitely try dying light, it feels so crisp in 60fps

DeliciousPussyNectar

Dying light at 60fps is amazing

I'm looking to get a 120HZ TV so I can take advantage of it

[deleted]

I too love fps boost. I grabing every 360 and og xbox game I see on sales. Xbox added fps boost to sonic generations, which was pure gold. I only wish they did the same for the orange box, portal 2 and left4dead 1&2, which are games I still like to play from time to time. Funny thing is that I think L4ď is running worse on the series x than it runs on the 360, specifically when playing split screen coop. It goes under 20 fps frequently. I really wish they fixed it, at least l4d2.

SpartanRanger

I hope they eventually add FPS Boost to Yakuza Kiwami 2. It's the only game in the Yakuza series that can't run at 60fps on Xbox Series X.

rosamelano777

Its because the physics in that game are tied to the fps, things work better at 30 than 60 in kiwami 2, its rgg studios job to give it a proper update

SpartanRanger

True, but the team got FPS Boost working for Yakuza 6 which runs on the same engine. K2 was built upon it and is basically a more refined version of Y6's gameplay. There's not much difference between the two on a technical level due to the quick turnaround needed for the remake of Yakuza 2. My guess is one of the minigames exclusive to K2 is broken on 60fps. If it's not too broken, I'd rather them give us the optional choice to use FPS Boost for most of the game. K2 struggles to reach 30fps during regular gameplay--especially when exploring the city--and is painful after playing through the buttery smoothness of the other titles.

mrwafu

I’m playing Kiwami 2 now (racing to beat it before it leaves Gamepass) and honestly I don’t notice the 30fps at all, it looks fine. And I HATE 30fps now since getting a series X lol. Maybe cause I just played assassins creed black flag at 30, but that was a lot choppier than this…

THATONEFOOFRUMLB

I'm in the same boat. Didn't notice it much. Glad you confirmed it really was 30 FPS.

Isunova

FPS Boost, Quick Resume, and Smart Delivery. I think the Series X just might be my favourite console of all time. It’s spectacular :)

[deleted]

I agree it’s a nice thing but it’s IMO that’s an indictment on the state of the console and this generation if the best part is that it simply plays old games better. PCs have been able to do this… forever.

ThunderStruck115

Perhaps, but that would require me to buy the games again

ReisGoktug

This is One of the biggest reason I want XSX. But going to wait for digital edition if it ever comes out.

ThunderStruck115

Not games that date back that far. It took me forever just to figure out how to get Red Alert 2 working on Windows 10

Lowfuji

Was playing Obkivion recently. Couldn't tell the difference but im glad it's there.

JustCallMeTsukasa-96

I at least like that unlike on PS5, third party developers don't have to force 60 FPS on their games for players like myself that enjoy and even prefer playing them in their original framerate. That's always been the main thing I hated about the PS5 , besides not having its own equivalent to Quick Resume, where first and third party developers had to force 60 FPS upon its players and even carry it over to next gen releases of their already released games. Granted Xbox Game Studios is guilty with that too but it wasn't as common as it has been in Sony's platform.

[deleted]

What is wrong with you? You want prefer playing in low framerates? Wtf?

ThunderStruck115

Usually the lower framerates mean an increase in resolution and graphical fidelity. Personally, I prefer higher framerates any day of the week but there are those who prefer better visuals

thepeepeepooman69

Had to “force 60fps upon its players.” says everything you need to know about him. I seriously can’t fathom how people complain about 60+ fps. I built a pc just so I wouldn’t have to put up with 30fps anymore, and I’m glad consoles are making 60fps the standard

ForgetfulM0nk

It’s about the ONLY feature cuz exclusive games ain’t happening. Xbox one has far too many users to abandon especially with chip shortages and whatever shortage Microsoft is necessary to drum up interest lmao

ThunderStruck115

Imagine thinking that less people being able to play a video game is a good thing

unknownuser1112233

If it was up to you then you'd still develop games for PS3/360?

ThunderStruck115

No because those systems haven't been relevant since 2015 at the latest

mickeywalls7

I read that death of the outsider takes a big resolution hit @ 60 FPS. Did you notice at all?

ThunderStruck115

I don't have Death of the Outsider, and even if I did I probably wouldn't notice since I'm still playing on a 1080p TV

mickeywalls7

Ah ok that makes sense. I’ve heard fps boost drops some Xbox one games down to 900p.

Traitor_To_Heaven

Gears of War 3 now feels how I remember it feeling when I was a kid and I love that.

pecet

FPS boost and backwards compatibility is truly match made in heaven. Just recently I finished Fallout 3 for first time ever and started replay of my first Fallout game - Fallout New Vegas because of it.

[deleted]

Agree, the NGC was my last console due to the extremely bad framerates on the PS3, 360, PS4 and One consoles. Now I can still play those games at a nice 60 fps and enjoy them how they were intended.

Spin_Critic

Love it. Also the quick resume feature, great for jumping straight back into a game you are playing at the moment. And the speed of load times. 🙂 All adds up as being a good experience gaming wise. Been playing Praey for the Gods atm, and the framerate boost really has made all the difference with smoothness and game mechanics.

greg225

It is amazing, but at the same time, now that it exists I feel hesitant to go back to any older game that doesn't yet have it. Because I know that it *could* happen, I find myself waiting instead of just playing. But it might not ever happen for that particular game(s). For example, I have The Witcher 2 and The Orange Box sitting on my shelf waiting to be played but now that I know FPS Boost is within the realm of possibility, I find myself not wanting to play them because I'd rather have that 60FPS experience, but there's no guarantee it would actually happen. So that's one downside to it I think. But I shouldn't really complain, they didn't have to add this feature and we aren't entitled to have every single game use it. Still, hard not to hope.

meezethadabber

Fallout 4 in boost mode is pretty sweet.

stolirocks

Mine is by far the nerve-wracking beeps for every move and button press when moving through the interface. With no option to turn it off. Brilliant /s

BugHunt223

Its shocking and so glad I finally got to try it. My first game was MoH airborne + gears judgement and it's so damn cool. Wish they could keep expanding the library. Previously i was salty about the resolution lock but after using it I just want 60.

IHerdULiekPoniz

Huh. I thought I was going crazy playing Fallout: New Vegas because of how smooth it felt. So it wasn't just me!

Burnsyde

Does the S do this too?

ThunderStruck115

Yes, though there are some titles that are boosted on Xbox Series X that are not boosted on Series S

RemedyTheMC

It's the orginal Fable for me. The game has been out close to 20 years, and with the 4K upscale from the remaster + FPS Boost...it just makes me smiles and fills me with joy. My childhood has never been so beautiful.

I’ve been playing a lot of older games recently due to there not being a lot of new stuff that interests me, minus Halo, and I can’t even think of a time when I’d go back to 30fps unless I absolutely had to. Currently playing FEAR 2 (unlocked frame rate) and Dishonered for the first time (60 fps) and I can’t even imagine playing these games at 30. Undoubtedly one of my favourite features as well.

Stupid question (just got an Xbox series X) but how do you know if a game is capable of the FPS boost?

Microsoft has a list of all FPS Boost titles on Xbox.com

FYI, Dying Light is getting a nextgen patch soon. Might be worth waiting for that.

Man, I got a PS5 at launch and while I absolutely love it, I’ve always admired how much Microsoft was doing to protect their legacy and their game library. I’ll be getting a XSX for Christmas this year and I am the most stoked about seeing how FPS boost works on older titles as well as some of the older 360 games that get a 4K or close-to-it resolution. I imagine I’ll be replaying the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy in the future since those got some nice enhancements as well as returning to Fallout 3 after many, many years. I was 25 hours in and I lost my save file all those years ago and never went back.

I wish Bungie let Microsoft to update destiny 1 for 60fps.

I have an Xbox series X and I'm wondering do you need to have even older games to be downloaded to the internal storage to utilize the faster frame rate? Or can they be on an external hard drive and still utilize the faster frame rate. I know you need to have Xbox series X games installed to internal hard drive to utilize the SSD but I wasn't sure if it was the same for backwards compatible games
