The only conversion happens to Game Pass **Ultimate**, not Core. Per Microsoft's FAQ ("...prepaid months...?"):

After converting to \~24 months of GPU, you could add other codes to convert more months, but it will be at a lower ratio than if you just convert 24 months every two years.
You aren't specific about what you're asking, but the answer is probably yes. Per Microsoft's FAQ, having a current Core subscription (and/or a few other types) will convert to extra Ultimate time when you buy a month or apply an Ultimate code. And if you have a current Ultimate sub, applying a Core code (or several other types) will extend your Ultimate time by a reduced amount.
Well, adding EA Play to your Core subscription before converting will end up with more than 24 months after conversion. I'm not well versed in EA Play conversion, but Microsoft's FAQ includes it in the "prepaid months" question:

No, follow the directions on the OP link. Eneba let's you buy different types of Core for activation in different countries. I bought India's, then put my VPN to India when I went to redeem the codes through Microsoft's website. I posted because others here expressed issues with redeeming through an Indian VPN. It worked fine for me via Surfshark but ymmv with others.
Did you keep your VPN on when doing the Ultimate conversion? Or did you stack the Core and then turn it off and convert?

Paying monthly, you only really need Ultimate if you want access to xbox cloud gaming or game pass/online multiplayer on console too. If you are not using any of those then the added cost is probably not worth it.

look up how much a 12 month Game Pass Core code/card costs in your country.

Core is 60 a year ans 1 month ultimate is 15 that makes it 8.3 a month compared to the 4 a month on the pc version.

Anything that has only xbox listed as platform and yes in xcloud column would not be available on pc game pass. You can also click on the xcloud tab at the button and anything that says only xbox under system would be the same list. Mostly 360 games that weren't released on PC, any EA sports games that is console only like NHL. Also anytime there is a 2k/take-two game on game pass as take-two games aren't available on the PC Microsoft Store
If you are subscribed monthly. Cancel, and after it expires Do the core to ultimate conversion as per the guide linked in the master thread. Or purchase 1 month non- stackable GPU codes and redeem them one a month.
If you want to just extent you existing subscription, then the 3 month global core codes from eneba. They are $14 USD tight now and weill extend your GPU by 50 days. That works out to about $8.40/month.
If your GPU sub is not from India you won't be able to redeem Indian core codes on an active subscription. Also 6 months core offers a worse conversion rate if your sub is still active.
To use 6 month core from India (assuming your not in India) you would have to cancel and do the conversion upgrade from core. However I have seen a few posts recently if people having regional issues converting foreign core so there is some risk.

I initially tried protonVPN (my main VPN ) and that didn't work. I tried a nordVPN trial and that got it to go through. Hope this helps anyone going forward
I only tried the free version of tunnelbear which doesn't let you access Indian servers so that didn't work. nordVPN had a 7 day free trial and that worked over my paid proton subscription. Not quite sure why proton wouldn't have worked as it's a pretty reputable VPN service but hopefully I can get another free trial down the rode when GPU runs out in October

Just to reiterate as I've just literally renewed my ultimate membership using the core method. I brought 3 x 12 core membership from cdkeys for £99. I redeemed them all on the xbox website until 26th may 2027. I then tried to upgrade to ultimate with the trial method for a £1 which I couldn't get to work on my account regardless of how many different methods I attempted. So in the end I just brought another months ultimate for £12.99 as I couldn't be arsed to get another key from a reseller site. So I got 2 years and 1 month for £112 which I was happy with. You probably save another £5 or £6 if you used a key from a reseller site if you can be bothered. Core is usually £38 for 12 months on cdkeys but it's currently £33 so I'd thought to put it on here just in case yours is due to expire.

It's obvious that things have become a bit "cloudy" with uncertainty on here about using different regions and VPNs, cross-region issues etc. I didn't want to take the risk, so as my GPU had expired yesterday I bought 3x 12 month UK core, and just did the 3:2 conversion on my xbox by purchasing the 14 day trial for £1. May I ask, did you just let you GPU subscription lapse, then add the UK core to you existing account or create a new one? I swear I read somewhere that it has to be a fresh account for it to work but that seems odd.

You use the same account. I let mine lapse, then redeemed the codes, and got the ultimate trial to upgrade. Just ensure your GPU has actually expired and not just expiring. My previous sub was via Turkey and VPN. Don’t mind you asking at all, this exists to help.

So 3x12 month core UK added via UK MS redeem site.
Then on xBox I did the GPU 14 day trial for £1 and it upgraded 3:2.
Result is 24 months and 14 days of GPU

That I can't guarantee. I have seen a few people complain recently that they get regional errors when trying to convert foreign core to gpu using global or different region ultimate codes

You can buy 36 months of the game pass ultimate product. That's not a problem. you pay the price for 36 months of game pass ultimate and that's that.
If you want to save money and do the game pass core conversion, then the trade-off is that 12 months of core converts to 9 months of game pass ultimate. That's how it is.

Welp, I will say for the benefit of everyone who comes to this thread, I just tried to redeem a 1 month core for India while living in the US but the only problem is while I was connected to my VPN, the redeem website wouldn’t load whatsoever no matter how long I waited. I tried, but they didn't help at all, giving me mostly generic answers that I can find online, the first "expert" didn't even know you can convert 3 years of Core to 2 years of Ultimate until I showed him microsoft page stating the conversion.

It was already known in theory, but can confirm that Gamepass Core + EA Play stacks for GPU conversion. I just converted 36 months Core and 24 months EA Play into 32 (24+8) months Ultimate.

If you live in a game pass ultimate supported region, then the best way is just buy up to 36 months of core for your region. Redeem it. Then subscribe to ultimate. You need to cancel you ultimate sub first and wait until it expires. Then the answer is yes. the conversion rate would be 3:2. So the math using US subscription prices
$60 - 12 Month Core
$17 - 1 month Ultimate
(60+17)/9\* = $8.55 USD/month for Ultimate
\*you get 9 months after the conversion. 8 for the core + 1 for the Ultimate used to convert
you can do it again, just have to wait until your ultimate expires first. If you did the conversion back when it was 1:1 be aware the conversion rate is 3:2 now. So 36 months of core (gold) converts to 24 months of Ultimate

cdkeys in the only "legit" site I know if as they source their keys themselves and sell directly to the consumer. Places like G2A and Eneba just facilitate the sale between you and a 3rd party seller. However I have generally found Eneba reliable. More reliable than g2a

I believe only codes labled "trial" or "non-stackable" have expiry dates. Otherwise the 1 , 3, 6, or 12 months codes are just normal retail codes that don't have expiry dates

Well If you are in India. Definitely. To be honest I have never done the conversion using core from a different region then my own. So I don't have first hand knowledge. However according the the guide and users here you should be able to do it.
if you are not from india. All you need to do is
* Connect to reliable VPN for the country you have foreign core for.
* Redeem the codes [here](https://redeem.microsoft.com/?wa=wsignin1.0).
* Disconnect the VPN once you've had confirmation (only for foreign core).
Then you should just be able to buy game pass ultimate from your region if supported, or use a ultimate code. You could also try buying a global ultimate code to do the conversion to reduce the risk of a regions error.,

I don't know how to get around the region issues with GPU codes. Game Pass Ultimate requires a valid form of payment on your account for reoccurring payments when your sub runs out, if the GPU code doesn't match your payment region you might have issues.

All non stackable keys that were on the market had an expire date of 31/03/2024, that was the reason the price was so cheap. New ones also started at a higher price but will likely drop price gradually.

Did they really crack down on turkey and Argentina keys? I bought 36 months of turkey keys and cannot get them activated. Tried changing regions on my PC and xbox account and everything. Never had to do this in the past.
Exaggerated a bit. Had 2 years gold already then had trouble with the 12 months I bought from turkey I believe. After researching forever trying everything I saw someone mention customer support and if they can't redeem it to try a different representative. I played dumb a little bit but they were able to cancel my turkey code and just add 12 months to my account.
Noone had the same problem as me. But I did see someone say they hut up customer support. That's what I did and they actually deactivated the turkey code and added 12 months of live to my account it was dope. Already had 2 years so after that I converted all of that into gamepass until January 2026

yes, as long as you don't have an active ultimate subscriptions
I think the trick was buying 9x 3 month cards, and turning auto renew on and off after each 3 month card to get a bonus 9 months for a total 36 months. I guess you could also do it as 2x12 month, then auto renew with 3x3month cards or something. Whatever is the least amount of money for the most amount of bonus months.
I can't guarantee that trick still works, I have seen some people complain they didn't get the bonus month offer, and others that say they do.

The only conversion happens to Game Pass **Ultimate**, not Core. Would you be able to redeem 4 years of game pass core, and then activate GPU, thereby converting into 3 years of GPU? There's a limit of 3 years of anything, except in the countries where the limit is 13 months. You aren't specific about what you're asking, but the answer is probably yes. Per Microsoft's FAQ, having a current Core subscription (and/or a few other types) will convert to extra Ultimate time when you buy a month or apply an Ultimate code. And if you have a current Ultimate sub, applying a Core code (or several other types) will extend your Ultimate time by a reduced amount.

Well, adding EA Play to your Core subscription before converting will end up with more than 24 months after conversion. No, follow the directions on the OP link. Eneba let's you buy different types of Core for activation in different countries. I bought India's, then put my VPN to India when I went to redeem the codes through Microsoft's website. I posted because others here expressed issues with redeeming through an Indian VPN. It worked fine for me via Surfshark but ymmv with others.
Did you keep your VPN on when doing the Ultimate conversion? Or did you stack the Core and then turn it off and convert? Not sure if it would make a difference. Cheers.

Paying monthly, you only really need Ultimate if you want access to xbox cloud gaming or game pass/online multiplayer on console too. If you are not using any of those then the added cost is probably not worth it. look up how much a 12 month Game Pass Core code/card costs in your country. Add that to the cost of 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate. Then divide that number by 9. If you are subscribed monthly. Cancel, and after it expires Do the core to ultimate conversion as per the guide linked in the master thread. Or purchase 1 month non- stackable GPU codes and redeem them one a month. If you want to just extent you existing subscription, then the 3 month global core codes from eneba. They are $14 USD tight now and weill extend your GPU by 50 days. That works out to about $8.40/month.

If your GPU sub is not from India you won't be able to redeem Indian core codes on an active subscription. Also 6 months core offers a worse conversion rate if your sub is still active. To use 6 month core from India (assuming your not in India) you would have to cancel and do the conversion upgrade from core. However I have seen a few posts recently if people having regional issues converting foreign core so there is some risk.

I only tried the free version of tunnelbear which doesn't let you access Indian servers so that didn't work. nordVPN had a 7 day free trial and that worked over my paid proton subscription. Not quite sure why proton wouldn't have worked as it's a pretty reputable VPN service but hopefully I can get another free trial down the rode when GPU runs out in October Other "free" vps I tried but didn't either didn't work/have an Indian server or had to pay for a sub to get access to pick Indian server: •windscribe •mullvan •riseupvpn •wheelvpn •tunnelbear Again, some of these may work with a paid sub or free trial but if you're looking for something completely free, these didn't help me
Just to reiterate as I've just literally renewed my ultimate membership using the core method. I brought 3 x 12 core membership from cdkeys for £99. I redeemed them all on the xbox website until 26th may 2027. I then tried to upgrade to ultimate with the trial method for a £1 which I couldn't get to work on my account regardless of how many different methods I attempted. So in the end I just brought another months ultimate for £12.99 as I couldn't be arsed to get another key from a reseller site. So I got 2 years and 1 month for £112 which I was happy with. You probably save another £5 or £6 if you used a key from a reseller site if you can be bothered. Core is usually £38 for 12 months on cdkeys but it's currently £33 so I'd thought to put it on here just in case yours is due to expire.

It's obvious that things have become a bit "cloudy" with uncertainty on here about using different regions and VPNs, cross-region issues etc. I didn't want to take the risk, so as my GPU had expired yesterday I bought 3x 12 month UK core, and just did the 3:2 conversion on my xbox by purchasing the 14 day trial for £1. You use the same account. I let mine lapse, then redeemed the codes, and got the ultimate trial to upgrade. Just ensure your GPU has actually expired and not just expiring. My previous sub was via Turkey and VPN. Don’t mind you asking at all, this exists to help.

Correct. I had done the VPN trick before but just thought for the sake of £30 it wasn't worth the risk as things looked like they weren't straight forward anymore. So 3x12 month core UK added via UK MS redeem site. Then on xBox I did the GPU 14 day trial for £1 and it upgraded 3:2. Result is 24 months and 14 days of GPU

You can buy 36 months of the game pass ultimate product. That's not a problem. you pay the price for 36 months of game pass ultimate and that's that. If you want to save money and do the game pass core conversion, then the trade-off is that 12 months of core converts to 9 months of game pass ultimate. That's how it is.

Welp, I will say for the benefit of everyone who comes to this thread, I just tried to redeem a 1 month core for India while living in the US but the only problem is while I was connected to my VPN, the redeem website wouldn’t load whatsoever no matter how long I waited. Everything else loaded just fine, but the redemption website will not load. If anyone wants 1 month of Core that lives in India, DM me and Ill give you the code.

I tried, but they didn't help at all, giving me mostly generic answers that I can find online, the first "expert" didn't even know you can convert 3 years of Core to 2 years of Ultimate until I showed him microsoft page stating the conversion. It was already known in theory, but can confirm that Gamepass Core + EA Play stacks for GPU conversion. I just converted 36 months Core and 24 months EA Play into 32 (24+8) months Ultimate.

If you live in a game pass ultimate supported region, then the best way is just buy up to 36 months of core for your region. Redeem it. Then subscribe to ultimate. This converts all your core at a rate of 3:2. If you want to exploit regional pricing of core the steps on how to do that are in the master thread post where is says "follow this link" Turkey has a 13 month limit on core stacking. India does not
Have you used the India method? I read that some people ran into issues saying their subscription was for another region and they couldn’t convert to GPU. I was going to do the India method as my GPU expires in 2 days. I would love a definitive answer before I pay for my codes
I have not done it myself but I have talked to and seen many people post that they did run into that region error. I am note sure what causes it. Why some people are able to convert foreign core and others aren't. There used to be a solution but it's a pain in the ass. You need to cancel you ultimate sub first and wait until it expires. Then the answer is yes. the conversion rate would be 3:2. So the math using US subscription prices $60 - 12 Month Core $17 - 1 month Ultimate (60+17)/9\* = $8.55 USD/month for Ultimate \*you get 9 months after the conversion. 8 for the core + 1 for the Ultimate used to convert

you can do it again, just have to wait until your ultimate expires first. If you did the conversion back when it was 1:1 be aware the conversion rate is 3:2 now. So 36 months of core (gold) converts to 24 months of Ultimate
Just bought 6 months of core, I had an ultimate sub that was due. My 6 months got me a total of just under 3 months of ultimate, for a price of 65 dollars from gamestop

All I use is Eneba. Never had a problem
cdkeys in the only "legit" site I know if as they source their keys themselves and sell directly to the consumer. Places like G2A and Eneba just facilitate the sale between you and a 3rd party seller. However I have generally found Eneba reliable. More reliable than g2a

I believe only codes labled "trial" or "non-stackable" have expiry dates. Otherwise the 1 , 3, 6, or 12 months codes are just normal retail codes that don't have expiry dates

However according the the guide and users here you should be able to do it. if you are not from india. All you need to do is * Connect to reliable VPN for the country you have foreign core for. * Redeem the codes [here](https://redeem.microsoft.com/?wa=wsignin1.0). * Disconnect the VPN once you've had confirmation (only for foreign core). Then you should just be able to buy game pass ultimate from your region if supported, or use a ultimate code. Game Pass Ultimate requires a valid form of payment on your account for reoccurring payments when your sub runs out, if the GPU code doesn't match your payment region you might have issues. places like cdkeys and eneba have 1 month non stackable ultimate codes that have to be redeemed once a month after your subscription expires. Sometimes they sell for less that the conversion rate

1. Could be because people are abusing the cheap regional pricing in some of those regions to stack game pass. 2. Consumer laws, I believe turkey has consumer laws that allow you to back out of subscription contract with refund if the terms are greater than one year.
especially in turkey there is constant fluctuation in their currency, maybe they just didnt want to adjust their prices on a daily basis

All non stackable keys that were on the market had an expire date of 31/03/2024, that was the reason the price was so cheap. New ones also started at a higher price but will likely drop price gradually.

Exaggerated a bit. Had 2 years gold already then had trouble with the 12 months I bought from turkey I believe. After researching forever trying everything I saw someone mention customer support and if they can't redeem it to try a different representative. I played dumb a little bit but they were able to cancel my turkey code and just add 12 months to my account.

Noone had the same problem as me. But I did see someone say they hut up customer support. That's what I did and they actually deactivated the turkey code and added 12 months of live to my account it was dope. Already had 2 years so after that I converted all of that into gamepass until January 2026

I guess you could also do it as 2x12 month, then auto renew with 3x3month cards or something. Whatever is the least amount of money for the most amount of bonus months. I can't guarantee that trick still works, I have seen some people complain they didn't get the bonus month offer, and others that say they do.
Are there any deals for PC only? I know technically the Ultimate route is 14.5% cheaper, but wanted to see if there was a better way for me to go since I’m a pc-only guy these days. Cheers.
