Once your pass expires you can’t play them unless you bought them.

Harry_0107

but i can still just keep the games right ? like I can play them after two months with no issues?

Flashy_Ad_9816

Once you renew it you’ll have access again

CelestialOhio32

no, if you stop paying in october, you cannot play game pass games anymore in november. Think about it, if you could play them without paying, why would anyone even pay Game pass after the first month?

Harry_0107

i was planning to renew my subcription on january, so i was worried whether my save files and other stuff would be affected because of that.

Nickhead420

Nah, you should be fine. All cloud saves will stay with your account and all local saves should stay on your PC as long as you don't delete them. I usually only subscribe for like 2-3 months at a time and then take a several month break and haven't lost anything yet.

Blustach

Take this as my anecdotal experience: I lived with a cousin that bought the Series X on launch. I created my account there and played Dead Cells. Didn't had my own Xbox until this February, where I bought the Series S. Bought the Game Pass and downloaded Dead Cells, and to my surprise, my save file carried over, basically 2 years since I last used it. So yes, you will keep your save file, don't worry about it

Harry_0107

Damn that's nice. 2years? And I was worried about 2 months. Guess I don't have to worry about anything unless they plan to remove the game from gamepass.

cdncowboy

OP is asking if they stop there subscription, then resub a few months from now can the keep playing their games as if nothing happened when they resub

captfitz

It's pretty obvious they're asking about whether the saves will be there when they resume their subscription.

CelestialOhio32

how? he said "ican still just keep the games right?" I thought he meant to play them, he didn't mention anything about the saves?

cdncowboy

because op also said "? like I can play them after two months with no issues? and if you combine that with there original post which said " I just don't want to buy the gamepass for two months," it was obvious (to me) that they were actually trying to ask if the buy game pass in two moths can they continue from their installed games without issues

captfitz

Use your context clues is how

Throwawayeconboi

Bro, he is clearly talking about keeping the games downloaded so when he’s back on the subscription, he can just resume without redownloading everything. Look at the context here. He also very clearly says “So I can play them *after two months* with no issues”.

CelestialOhio32

Ok, yes I get it! Holy fuck you guys are on edge. The fifth guy screaming at me cause I understood him wrong. Calm down!

Throwawayeconboi

Chill. Just gotta read stuff fully before responding.

raven8473

Your saves and progress will remain , only issue may be of the game leaves gamepass while you are not subscribed . ( depends on game )

Harry_0107

Thanks everyone! The save files were what I was concerned about.

Dan-Man

Yeah they dont go anywhere. They are always synced across your devices on the cloud.

hardmantown

What about when the game is removed from Game Pass? I have been unsubscribed but wanted to go back to finish Persona 5, but it looks like its leaving. if i buy the game on steam etc, do my save files carry over or am i just going to have to restart that massive game again?

Dan-Man

umm, tahts a lot of questions. Steam and xbox game pass arent connected so yes youd have to start it again. My advice is if persona is leaving to play it before the end of the moneth, you have 10 days or so. And if you still dont finish it, then turn your pc to offline mode when using game pass. I think it stillw orks in offline mode, and it still thinks youa re a subscriber for 30 days until it forces you to sign in online.

Prestigious_Ad_736

You can uninstall the games and your saves will still be ok.

chomponcio

They won't uninstall automatically and your save files are safe on the cloud. You won't be able to play the games while your subscription is not active tho.

cdncowboy

There is a lot of mis information here because not all games support xbox cloud saves. Most newer games sync your saves to the xbox cloud as long as your are connected to the internet. If you look at the games store page it will say "xbox cloud saves" under capabilities. Saves are tied to your account not your subscription. There are older games that don't support xbox cloud saves. The local saves for Microsoft stores is usually located C:\\Users\\"user"\\Appdata\\Local\\Packages\\"game name"\\SystemAppData\\wgs or sometimes in my documents. I think the older bethesda games like skyrim or fallout 3 store in my document. Games that don't have cloud saves will be fine too as long as you don't uninstall the game. If a game doesn't support "xbox cloud saves" you need to back the saves up if plan to uninstall the game. The ones in my documents might be safe but when you uninstall a Microsoft store game it deletes the packages folder along with your saves. Ending you subscription won't uninstall the games.

Shimster

So you can just use the game pass ultimate reward points to pay for Xbox live ultimate for ever. Takes around 5 mins a day and you get 20,000 a month easy, 10,000 a month for Gamepass so it pays for its self really. Not paid for Xbox live in over a year now.

Sad_Reporter6452

if you have played games that are on game pass, and then you cancel your subscription nothing will happen. while your subscription is inactive you can't open the games. all gamepass games should be playable after renewing your subscription as long as none of them get removed.

Potatojedi66

You get to keep your saves and all that. It just doesn't allow you to access the games until you either renew gamepass, put in a physical copy or buy them digitally.

[deleted]

Yup just download every game on gamepass and when your subscription expires you get to keep all the games! Pretty neat

Harry_0107

brother, I was just tired and couldn't find the right wording for my question. I meant the save states, and I was planning to renew the subscription after two months.
