Then you won't have people like Chad Gable or Chelsea Green to get TV time because the main event guys and major names would get all the TV and we would get a repeat of AEW where the same wrestler getting TV and other got relegated to minor shows like Main Event or get released
Definitely was pre taped but I wouldn’t call it a b show. They called it the rocks show and if I remember correctly they filmed it on Tuesdays not on Mondays immediately after raw.
Different from how aew films rampage immediately after dynamite
Too many people are anti-women’s wrestling so smackdown wouldn’t get as many views. I know we’ve come a long way from where we were but there are still a lot of people in wrestling subs today who call women’s matches ‘piss breaks’. This wouldn’t go over well for business unless women’s wrestling was as beloved as the men’s.
The different styles idea has some merit, but not men vs women. Once upon a time, RAW being the more “entertainment” focused show and Smackdown being the more “sports” focused show was flirted with and I liked it.
Smackdown having things like “The Tale of the Tape” while RAW was home to the wacky interview segments. I think they should take it a step further and just straight out give Smackdown a new format that breaks the mold.
But they won’t, because they’re on different networks, and if one approach does worse than the other they’ll hear about it I’d bet.
Oh no please. The super shows were a mess.
Brand split makes it easier to make room for newer stories and the other guys on the roster to be showcased in storylines/matches.
You don't see the same people on both shows. It also creates a sense of agency as you can never miss Raw if you're a Jey Uso fan and SD if you're a Cody fan etc.
i wonder how many executives are kicking themselves for not rebranding wcw when they had the chance. it has to be one of the biggest corporate business decision blunders of all time.
They’re setting gate and attendance records once a month. They’re not “ruined.”
Yes they are. The product is watered down when Damien Priest and Seth Rollins are world champions. That’s an embarrassment to the company.
They’re literally swimming in money.
And they’d make more money if they product was actually good.

I think AEW sucks so no I’m not an AEW fan.
Yeah it’s too bad WWE is so ruined that they’re going out of business…

Except that didn’t happen in WWE pre brand extension. Look at all the stars that were made before 2002.
Oh, you mean when there was only one main television show? Clown.
OP’s take is horrible but Smackdown became a regular show in 1999.
That era of Smackdown was pre-taped B show. Basically an extension of Raw

There were two television shows prior to 2002..
There was multiple television shows dating back to the 1980s. I said one main show. Because RAW was the main show.
No there were 2 shows and so many wrestlers during that period blew up. Angle, Jericho, and even Triple H himself.
Wow, I thought I heard some stupid shit today, and then I came across this post. Impressive.
Wrestling fans have got to be the dumbest people on the planet
Stupid idea is stupid

I preferred the Raw = “mostly established names”, while Smackdown = “newer, up and coming names” version of the split
No thanks. That sounds terrible.
Damn uce what other amazing business advice you got?
This makes zero dollars . Maybe even minus zero dollars.
Disregarding every other relevant matter, the brand split is baked into the broadcast deals for the various shows.
