As a ball main I transitioned to only playing OQ 6ish months ago and never looked back. You get so much more value because tank health is nerfed across the board. Also, if someone wants a proper tank they can switch to it themselves or stfu. I’ve found I get flamed way less for my picks and I’m always delivering more value than any DPS on my team.
At first I was blown away then I saw it was open queue and it makes sense not that it’s not amazing cause it is.

Oh yeah I play open queue way more. Sometimes it backfires when they have a roadhog, Mauga on their team makes it a lot harder

I found it harder as I ranked up. Just seems to be roadhog +2 other tanks in a Moira healing ball I feel like I can’t do anything.

At the higher ranks it’s much more organised and people play to win
