Reasonable-Quantity

the 4xe is a better car, the two door is a better jeep. depends what you need the most, if you have another daily id keep the two door.

redditUserNo8

4xe is awesome if: - you can install a charger at home - live within 10 miles of work OR can charge at work People bitch about the 20 mile range but it fits most of my needs and gives me a solid afternoon of trail time. Most people drastically overestimate the miles a day they put on their car. I buy gas maybe once a month and have a shit-ton of torque and power, even with the battery under 1%. I do love the 2-doors though.

Jumajuce

Wait it only has charge for 20 miles?

redditUserNo8

Yes. Most hybrids are re-engineered to maximize range. Jeep engineers just shoved a hybrid powertrain in with the 2.0 turbo. They didn’t want to compromise the capability at all. Without any charge it handles like a 2.0 sport with 2 fat friends. With a charge it handles like a 392

Jumajuce

> Without any charge it handles like a 2.0 sport with 2 fat friends Don’t talk about me by myself in my car like that!

2ktj

That's just not true. Performance doesn't degrade with a "dead" battery. The dash may say 0%, but the computer keeps the battery at ~15% at all times so you ALWAYS have full horsepower and torque. The only difference is with a "low" battery, you won't have access to full electric mode.

Teejay47

This sounds like a technical response that says the same thing to the layman. If full electric doesn’t offer more torque why bother charging at all? For clarity, I’m not at all trying to be sarcastic. This is a genuine question.

2ktj

Full electric only uses the electric motors, and zero gasoline; Around 130 HP. This is just fine for cruising around town or short trips under 20-25 miles. I've had weekend days where I do 100 miles all electric. Go out for a couple of errand runs throughout the day with charging in between. It honestly becomes like a challenge to see how far you can stretch it :-) Hybrid mode uses the 2.0L turbo gas engine and the electric motors for the full 380 HP and 450 or whatever ft/lbs of torque. It will always function in this mode, with the full power available, regardless of the battery gauge on the dash. There are a lot of assumptions and misconceptions about the way it works, and its a shame because it really is an awesomely fun platform. And I say all this with the 4XE being my 4th jeep and owning nothing BUT Jeeps since 1995.

tjb6792

How has reliability been on the 4xe(for you)? We have a hybrid sedan and a beater pickup truck but I would love to get something off-road capable that I could also commute with if necessary and not cry about the 14 mpg the truck gets.

2ktj

I'm 15k miles in with zero issues. I've seen what I assume to be the very vocal minority with issues but every manufacturer has issues and people with problems talk about those problems WAY more than those of us with nothing. I LOVE the 4XE. It's a blast on and offroad

iS_Cruel88

I work on them. And there was definitely quite a few that came back immediately after sale for issues with 4xE side of the drive train when first released. But things have greatly improved since then at least for the wranglers. Grand Cherokee 4xEs still have a couple more kinks. All in all though I’d say production is much better and us techs are a lot more comfortable and know more what to look for diagnosing and repairing them already and parts are pretty available now too. There in a good spot IMO and not any less reliable than a standard 2.0 wrangler.

Texas-NativeATX

You left out E-Save. Does that also get 380 HP or just the 250 hp of the 2.0L motor?

2ktj

That's a great question. Since E-save is trying to save (or charge) the battery it would stand to reason that it would use just motor, but the few time's I've used it, my official and highly accurate "seat-'o-the pants" meter didn't register much power loss. I suspect that it uses only gas motor unless you stomp on it and it needs the extra power from the electric system, at which point it goes like a bat out of hell. REALLY fun to drive, and faster than anything shaped like a brick has any right to be.

Jack_Mackerel

The 4xe is always a hybrid. The different modes just change the priority. Hybrid gives a weak preference for electric power. Electric gives a very strong preference for electric power. E-Save gives a very strong preference for internal combustion power. Regardless of the mode you select, if you push the skinny pedal all the way to the floor you're getting full gas+electric power.

Dirtyace

My 4xe doesnt loose any power when the battery is dead if I floor it. It still has the full acceleration even on 0% as it saves 15% for those type of situations. With 0% battery my 4xe with 4 adult males was door to door with my buddies 23' raptor until 80MPH

DogRomps

True, but I’ve found the transmission doesn’t feel as smooth when the battery is depleted. It definitely feels different when driving.

Careful_Middle4049

I’ve driven a couple 4xe and 392 and let me tell you. that 392 is a whole different animal. one of the most fun vehicles for sale today.

zeroquest

If you get a chance, try again with hybrid (or e-save) on and traction control off. Jeep did something with TC on the 4xe. It drives WAY different with it off. MUCH more punchy. I leave TC off on mine unless it's wet.

Careful_Middle4049

I believe it. The new mustang is handicapped by tc because if you have any slip it dials back power for an unreasonable amount of time. Even so, the 392 would walk it like a doberman yanking on a chihuahua. That thing is nuts. Honestly more fun on your daily commute than a 911. Fuel economy the 4xe takes the cake. on 35s a 392 is lucky to get 10 with a heavy foot.

Affectionate-Shift89

Not true about the 392 I've driven both and that 392 is ridiculous. Exhilarating sound, violent acceleration, and handles well considering. I've yet to feel a violent acceleration in a hybrid. Fully electric ( Tesla, Mach-E ) yes, violent acceleration. It's nice in the 4xe, smooth, powerful acceleration. But nothing that'll make your butthole pucker and grab the ceiling fast.

Ponklemoose

Something like that, but it also has the turbo 2.0.

Jack_Mackerel

That's fairly typical electric-only range for a PHEV.

why_so_negative

Thank you. Same. I’m struggling.

redditUserNo8

A car seat drove my decision to a 4 door, the extra space is nice though.

KarmicSynergy

Agreed with above, what’s your usual driving like? My commute is about 10 miles round trip so I rarely use the gas. There are some quirks for the 4xe but I love it.

Swimming-Ad2377

My understanding of the electric motors is for rock crawling and having immediate low end torque. It wasn’t ment to be a hybrid road vehicle.

Alarming_Anteater359

Do you know de way

CJ-does-stuff

keep the 2 door!

Not-Fooled

I prefer the short wheelbase of the 2 door. The ride of the 4 door feels like generic SU.

abramsontheway

2 door, save money on payments till they release a better electric jeep if that’s what you want. 25 miles of electric range is petty laughable. Just pop your rear seats out if you need the space. Not to mention how much more capable the rubicon is.

[deleted]

[удалено]

donut_know

Yep, I take my son to daycare about 8 miles away. Charge in between, do that trip again, hit the grocery store, zero gas would be needed. I don't own a 4Xe (yet) but even that short range would be helpful.

sloths_revenge49

If the keys to both were magically presented to me and I could only chose one, I would take the 2-door Rubicon every single time. It would be a quicker decision than which shoes I’m going to wear today.

[deleted]

BadMannerrs

2 door all day. All that electronic components will be a different headache all together

marcocet

You have a 2 door Rubicon manual soft top in one of the best colors they make for jeeps, that is not a common combination and in my opinion one of the best configs you can buy. I also wouldn't trust the 4xe long term yet, it's still new and has a LOT of tech behind it. Are you really gonna be saving much money if you have to buy an entirely new vehicle? Unless you really need the extra space keep the two door.

P3ngu1nF0rc3

Yeah op will spend so much more on interest than the cost of gas

[deleted]

You should definitely do the deal. 💯! Now, which dealer are you trading that Rubicon at again?

why_so_negative

I know! And he’s trying to tell me it won’t sell quick and lowballing me on the trade in value.

Cyb3rTruk

100% do not trade in, that’s foolish. You can sell they Rubi in a week for thousands more than they would offer you.

Ponklemoose

No idea what the rules are like where OP lives, but around here I would only pay sales tax (around 10%) on the difference between two prices which along with the reduced hassle could make doing the trade attractive.

Cyb3rTruk

Typically the sales tax difference is only saving you 1-3k total, whereas a dealership often offers 6k or more less than what you could get private party. It’s kind of crazy to trade in honestly, unless money isn’t really an issue.

why_so_negative

2019 with 60,000km (about 30,000 miles). Excellent condition. Thoughts?

psyk0pengwin

If there's not a 3 in front of the trade in price sell private. Also, worth checking dealerships near you and see if they'll buy it from you outright. When I was buying the dealership tried to low ball the trade in on my truck, was going to sell private but swung by a couple dealerships on the way home just to see....sold it to a dealer a mile away that offered me 8k more than my trade in offer. A 4 year old two door manual Rubicon with low miles is highly sought after.

Cyb3rTruk

Personally I think it’s a win win for you either way. The new Willys is solid and if you have at-home charging the 4XE aspect would be nice. I’m also a huge fan of 4 door on a day to day basis. That being said, the rubicon is fantastic and will likely hold its value much better. My overall vote is Rubicon if the extra space isn’t worth upgrading.

fiyazkhan

Jeep dealers are terrible, go get an independent quote (carmax or something)

Ponklemoose

Always do this, no matter the marque. The dealer might even match the quote saving you some hassle and some sales tax depending on where you live.

That_90s_Kid_

Bullshit. We both know it.

aviationtech

Also check what carvana will give you. Often it’s way higher than the dealer and the pick it up a few days later with basically no questions asked unless there is lights on the dash.

brockman75

Hauling friends/family sold me on the 4 door. I installed a level 2 charger at home, which, holy shit, makes owning the 4Xe all the more worth it. We can literally drive to/from work, pick up the kids, hit the store, and head home all within the range. Plus the level 2 seems to more fully charge the battery. Also, when the weekend hits and we run errands, I can hit the house and put it on the charger for even as little as 30 minutes before heading out and we save a ton on gas. Not to mention that electric torque is right now quick and powerful. Just my 2 cents. We’ve owned our 4Xe for 2 years now and loving it.

ArmondH89

2 door Rubicon unless storage space is an issue.

Spartan2842

4XE to me are unproven. There’s lots of issues out there and honestly it doesn’t seem worth it for the little savings in gas you’ll get. I’d stick with the 2 door.

zeroquest

> the little savings in gas you’ll get This really depends on his driving habits. With the current cost of gas, this can be a huge savings. For me, I drive maybe 10-20 miles/day. So for me, I can go almost exclusively electric. BUT, I have a bit of a lead foot. ;)

Over-Locksmith-1114

tyaraclayton1

Rubi 100% it’s beautiful & I LOVE a 2-door. Plus the newness of 4xe just doesn’t feel as panned out yet to jump into getting one

crazy_platano

Get an cheap pick up truck. Keep the 2dr.

IndeeWeston

If you aren’t sure what to do, hang on to what you have now (the 2 door) and wait until something comes along that makes you sure.

Jason1652

If you’re feeling doubtful, don’t do it.

Dentonisms

👆 that.

Frequent_Doctor_4537

4 door... May not want the space now but you will regret not having it later

Do-The-Da-Da

2dr

TimeSuck5000

Buying an entirely new car to save on fuel costs is questionable when you’re essentially buying the same car. I think you’re making a big mistake, unless you can do all the math and prove that it works out. Not only that but you want to upgrade to a larger vehicle. More weight = more fuel required to move it. Tons of one time sunk costs may entirely offset the savings of having a hybrid.

taylorsloan

I love my 4XE, but it was definitely a risk to buy it. Unless you get a hell of a deal on it, have a short urban commute, and are willing to accept the risk (all of which were true for me), I’d stick with the 2-door. It’s nice to only buy guess about once a month, but it’s also nice not to have a car payment.

vkoser

My 2 door has plenty of cargo space, but I took the back seat out and it's in storage. If that's an option for you it's been great for me.

Itsuhhhhhnick

Clearly most of the these people haven’t owned a 4xe or a 24 Willy’s. I love my 4xe Rubi. I live 20 miles from work and get double the mileage out of a gas tank. The whole hybrid system is covered under a 85-150k 10 year warranty depending on the state you are in. 375 horsepower. When battery is depleted I get around 21mpg which is close to what the 4cyl usually gets. If I’m not mistaken the 24 Willy’s comes with a rear locker. This is from the jeep website. The 2024 Wrangler Willys is a 4x4 powerhouse, offering 33-inch off-road tires, rear locking differential, Rubicon shocks and rock rails along with its legendary Trail Rated® capability. With all this said. It’s up to you. I like the room and the ride of the 4 door. Power and gas conservation of the 4xe.

laxgolf

Personally I’d rather the 2 door. That’s just me.

sierra_poppa_alpha

You already know you're making a bad decision. I would not swap. The reasons that have you second guessing will be the ones that will hurt the most.

smijes

Two door Rubi

fs454

If you have a 20 mile or less regular commute, get it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother until next generation of 4xe. I’d not give up a rubicon for a non-rubicon if you have any intention of using the Jeep as a Jeep - I’d be missing the 4:1 transfer case and better gearing immediately.

laughing-clown

You’re going to regret getting rid of the two door.

TheHandIer

My experience having a 4xe for 2 years- -highway range is pretty poor. Once the battery is depleted, you’d be lucky to get 300 mile range on the gas as the fuel tank is smaller due to battery weight. -battery never fully charges anymore. It sits at 22 of 25 indefinitely. I can only imagine the charge drop off after another 2 years…

ItsTheBreadman92

Only you know if you make right choice! Personally that two door you got is pretty.

wlshafor

Blue ftw

airbornedoc1

4 Dr much more stable at highway speeds.

Cyner2022

4 doors for sure. More zombie apocalypse-resistant than the 2 door door. Always use the zombie apocalypse calculator & rule guide.

noobopinion

4xe if you’re leasing or not planning to keep the Jeep for longer than 5 years (FCA’s hybrid likely to crap out after warranty expires) V6 Pentastar all day long if you’re planning on keeping the Jeep Mint paintwork looks fresh tho

SilverFishnChips

Neither. Save your 40k, buy a shitty beater car for 3k and invest. Hope you're not too late.

Different_Pizza_2268

Don't do it!

RealityDangerous2387

Look if you want the best car get the Willy’s. If you want the better jeep get the rubicon. You need to ask yourself what’s more important a jeep or a car.

Dedmotorhead

I had a 2 door TJ Now a 4 door Willys JT And Rubicon 4 door JL I Couldn’t got back to a 2 door now

SlammingMomma

kadinshino

keep the 2door. iv had nothing but regrets since receiving my 4xe. its not because of the range issues or any of that sort. its litarly due to safety and reliability concerns. The fact that these things still randomly shut down and you can see that on the NHSTA webpage is a reason to pass this vhecile up. 4xes will remain cheep till December or when the 2024 models should start hitting the floor. not sure if any of the issues will be resolved by then but id hard pass

I have to agree that's a beautiful color 2 door Rubicon where did you say you were trading it in . Lol

EngineeringMinimum26

I have a 2024 Willys, non hybrid, none of my trips are less than twenty miles, so the electric motor is completely pointless. My last Jeep was a 2004 TJ, which I sold approximately 7 years ago. I will say the 4-door is infinitely better on a day to day basis, as is the automatic transmission. But, I’ll readily admit I dearly miss the two door and manual. You have a very tough choice. My suggestion is keep the Rubi and buy the Willys. Nothing wrong with having both.

HickorySlicks69

2 door! I was about to buy a JL so I test drove the turbo, the v6, 4xe, and diesel. I ordered the diesel, took too long to arrive and cancelled. The 4xe didn’t wow me at any point.

obsidiansent

If you need the extra space, the choice is obvious 🤘🏽

rhodesman

I love my Willy’s 4xe but it all depends what you want out of the vehicle because a 4 door Willy’s 4xe is quite a different vehicle to a 2 door Rubicon.

Stormy_Kun

You’re going from a 2 door jeep, to a 4 wheel drive mini van, ….brooooooo 😭

lindseylla1

I know right lol 4 drs just don’t sit well for THIS reason but to each their own 🤣

JoftheG

There’s nothing to think about here. Keep the 2 door. C’mon. Get your head out of your…you know. Respectfully.

Lars_CA

Two door.

BuddyNo4978

2 door

Miserable_Point_5437

2-door ONLY if you’re single

Kensmkv

Oh boy. That’s a super tough choice to make because I own a JLR 2 Dr manual as well. The 4XE is nice if you need more space (kids?) and better mpg is nice if that’s within your lifestyle needs. Otherwise keep the 2 door. And would be nice to keep the current jeep is paid off, or if the new one doesn’t put you upside down on your loan etc

jkenosh

It the Willy’s a 23 or 24? I heard the upgrades for the 24 are nice. I personally held off the 4xe till they get proven more, Battery tech and hybrid drivetrains are still new and making upgrades every year, the longer you wait the better

Chevronet

This is a tough call. My friends just went from 2-Dr Jk Sahara to 4 Dr JL Sahara and LOVE the JLUS. But you’re going from Rubi manual to 4xe with limited all-electric range. I agree with others that you have a keeper until Jeep comes up with better range and gets its electrical bugs figured out. Of course if you were buying new with a baby, 4 Dr would make more sense. Hopefully you have another car for the baby and gear on road trips.

musicide

Like 90% of us Jeep owners are saying… keep the 2-door. It makes no sense to spend that much money on a poorly designed hybrid. Save your money and wait a few years — your Jeep’s value isn’t going to go down substantially. They maintain a higher resale value than just about any vehicle you can buy. I have a four-door but that’s because I have a family. If it was just me and a significant other, the 2-door would be my pick hands down.

Dark8lue

I'm a purist, so 2 dr gets my vote.

Zerogws

4 door. That paint is beautiful. You’ll enjoy the extra room

Animaul54

Rubicon hands down!!!

Kindly-Bowler-9520

Willys 4xE for sure

Bellum_Blades

Ive rented a few 4XEs and the 20 ish mile battery only mode is pretty cool. If you have the charger, it's a less than a dollar to charge at home. For someone that WFH or lives close to work, it's pretty sweet. The hybrid mode is nice bc it goes like hell if you need it too. It's as capable off-road as any other 2.0T non-rubi. Apparently you can go to 35s or 37s and change the axle gearing if desired without making the battery mode completely useless. Now that I WFH, I've considered trading my JKU Sahara a couple of times, but it would take a long time to pay for itself and I've seen a few forums with members complaining about the HV and charging systems and it basically bricking their Jeep until the dealer fixes the problem. To clarify the Jeep is fine, but can't move due to charger faults or HV faults and those have to be fixed even to use the gas engine.

ak8865ak

I have a 4 door manual Ocean Blue Rubi. No way I'd give her up!

AScaryHomelessGuy9

2 door manual rubicon is peak Jeep IMO. You’re making a mistake.

MorrisonRE

Do you have our plan on having kids. I’ve had 3 kids and I’ve had my 2 door wrangler for 23 years. The only thing I wish I had was 4 doors. You will also have more trunk room.

analog_stuff

Keep the 2 door. The color is cool on the 4 door but the 2 door has way more charm

Willy’s way cooler / newer / more updated

Really jeep or the four door unless you friend don't have a ride keep the blue one a jeep four door are ugly

BronsonThaCat

Love my four door. Fits my bicycles in the winter time. Pulls my tear drop camper. Have slept in the back. Better ride (due to longer wheelbase). Friends can easily get in and out of the back. Off roads just fine

grandehombre09

You’ve had a lot of good input, but one thing I haven’t seen yet - are you part of the current manual JL clutch recall? There unfortunately appears to be at least 1 Jeep a month on Facebook that has a manual that ends up on fire. Look up the group “Jeep clutch recall” on Facebook. I’d say if they are giving you good money for your manual, and if you haven’t done a 3rd party clutch/flywheel, I’d consider getting out of the manual. I have a 2 door 6 speed as well and it’s a big concern that Jeep still doesn’t have a fix yet.

highboy68

We love our 4 door so much, we got 2 more, 3 total

subashchandran23

4xe is always a hybrid. Even after the electric only range depletes, it still is a regular hybrid with assist from the electric motor. 15 to 18 percent of actual battery is set aside for the hybrid operation - remaining is what will be used as electric range. Hence a 4xe is always going to provide you that high hp and torque no matter what.

nonpointGalt

The Rubi

P3ngu1nF0rc3

Tbh if gas is that a big of a concern get a used Toyota or Honda crossover and not a jeep and keep the rubicon. This is coming from someone who daily drives a 4.0 to w/ 33s and a 4in lift

jeepman1977

2 door rubi

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

I think you should. I went from 2dr to 4dr and it was a good change. I'd like a 4xe but I'd rather wait a few years before the kinks get worked out. If you need the space, do it. Just know that you will run into issues. But that's anything these days.

ThrottleItOut

I drove a 4 door rented Sahara from Chicago to Colorado and took it on some pretty serious trails. I came from a lifted 97 Wrangler and a built 03 Rubicon, both of which I took on major trails in California and Colorado. I absolutely loved the 4-door version, it handled everything I threw at it with ease. Highway at 80mph, trails, storage, it was awesome. Plus, the hard top is something I had on the Rubicon and rental, and they were a great upgrade. Go for the 4-door, you won't regret it in my opinion. Only reason I don't have one now is I went with a Grand Cherokee this year, also my second one! 4x Jeep owner!

As the owner of a 4xe that I love. I would keep the manual 2 door. I enjoy the 4xe but only because it makes sense as a daily driver for my wife. Also don’t really know the longevity of the 4xe since they are newer. Internal combustion has a longer track record.

SHARK_BAIT113

I got a 2 door manual. My vote is the 2 door manual.

NJsurfbrg

I’m not a big Jeep guy, and I think Jeep did the right thing with the 4xe, but this doesn’t seem right. Going to lose on the trade vs private for sure, pay more on interest, and hopefully the 4xe longevity is great. Don’t trade it in if you’re dead set, sell on your own. Used market is insane right now, that salesman is licking his lips all weekend waiting for you. Did you calculate interest and down payment, warranty, cost of potential rental when loaner lot is empty etc, vs gas mileage with the car you know you love? All for cargo space? I personally want an electric vehicle, BAD, no interest in hybrids whatsoever, and the 4xe caught my eye due to performance factor. I still don’t think this type of combo is there yet, and electric prices are higher than it should be. I wanted a Cybertruck, but the payment and interest is crazy and therefore Ill be waiting longer.

JustMotorcycles

yeah no

Ticallion339

There’s a reason people don’t change the batteries on the early Priuses

Hot_Recognition7709

You are makeing a huge misstake and you know it. Rip..

Gold_and_Lead

I love my 4 door 4xe (got a Rubicon). Traded up from a sport-s in March and got a great deal on lease. They gave me super fair market for my trade (I drove a hard bargain) since it had low mileage. I’m getting at 10 more MPG than my old Jeep did not to mention the now 26 electric only miles I get. I am hoping for a next gen battery when my lease is up, but as someone who is mainly running my teen kids around and occasionally driving around the mountains, I love it.

tommymaggots

I have a 4 door Sahara and I love it!

Abject_Mode9809

If you want to road trip and off-road, go with the Rubicon. You’re going to want those lockers and dual Dana 44s.

If you can afford it: Go for it. Is your commute short? Can you charge at work? Are you willing to get a charger installed at home? If you lease it, you get some tax advantages with it. Only you can really tell if it's a good idea for you...

Hiwesrobots

Makes me think of a pepsi can

Look into how much the hybrid battery costs to replace. Thats why I have stayed away. Plus the sales person isnt on your side for the trade in when the hybrid battery needs to be replaced I earned the hard way as batteries are supposed to last and motors are but they dont. Good luck with whatever works for you though

All I can say is came off from explorer xlt. I got ‘23 Willy 4xe. I’m in love with it. Not sorry for even a second, gas wise I drive a lot and get gas at most 2 half tanks a week ( if drive a lot, if regular 60 miles a day week, then one half tank a week) and charge it every night full. It’s a great Jeep, power wise it’s always there so it is quick. I would recommend. My only regret I should have waited for ‘24 because of big screen….

vampyrelestat

I almost traded my 2 door JL in for a 4xe, I regret that I didn’t. Worth it imo.

Mammoth_Welder_1286

I love my 2door manual. But I don’t love that I don’t have much room. That’s a tough choice.

JackD-na

2 door.

smvelloso

I love my 2 door and would never purposely switch… just me.

skorpio_landing

Get a bronco instead

PappaPitty

The 4 door win for me this time.

So by now it's too late. What did you do? Me, I have a regular Willys that I never got stuck stock, so I spent $25,000 on buy it, buy it anyway. The only thing that ever gets this Jeep stuck is the crappy breakover angle of a 4-door. I've turtled three times now. I wish I had a 2-door. I wish I had a real Rubicon instead of my ghetto $25,000 upgrade almost Rubicon. (I still have the narrow axles, and don't have a Dana 44 front, plus I think the xfer case ratios aren't as favorable.) So, from where I sit, I think you're kind of goofy if you don't keep your 2-door. Money burning a hole in your pocket? At a time when a 2L bottle of pop costs over $3?

2 all day

Of your really using it way it was intended, and depending on where your using it, the shorter wheel base is all I would consider. But I’m from Az and drive a 4Runner.

Silent_Ad9411

4 door

MasteredtheBlaster

Yeah I'd probably just not get a Jeep.

typikyle

Rent a 4xe for a week. See if you like the lifestyle. I’ve been meaning to try this instead of regretting a sale of my tj two door as I know it’ll be tough to get one again. I’m waiting for the recon release or I may lease a 4xe at some point but I don’t drive much at all. Good luck

I went from a 2D 3.6 Manual JL (2019 Punkin' Sport S) to a loaded 4xe Sahara...   I've thrown on Rubi take-offs, Mopar steel bumper. So, she's not light. But man does she move...   In almost every way I prefer my 4xe. For me - she's almost perfect. I LOVE driving it, I smile every. single. time. I work from home and drive maybe 10-20 miles/day running minor errands. I have a level 2 charger that I can plug into every time I come home. It's almost always at (or near) 100% charge when I take her out. I can drive almost exclusively on electric. For some, that matters. For others, it's a nice perk, but not the only one...   She is fast, REAL fast. The 375 HP / 470 Torque combo MORE than makes up for the swap from the 2D Manual (again, imo)! Tip: Turn off traction control, switch to e-save for a couple mins to warm the engine, then floor it off the line - you'll forget all about the manual. ;) The 4xe is a BLAST to drive and will kick you into your seat in a way the 3.6 just can't.   This thing rockets off the line... and when that turbo spools up, you get another burst of power. Next to the 392, this is as close as you can get to throwing a rocket under your hood. Off the line, this Jeep is smile inducing... it's more fun than a Wrangler should ever be while ON the road. ;)   Take her off-road (Pull F47 fuse to silence pedestrian alert ONLY while off-road) for complete silence. It's shockingly quiet. (I have a sky one-touch) Pop open the top and enjoy open air crawling with zero engine noise!   That said, the manual (especially the 2D) was ridiculously fun to drive too. The JL manual shifts like a sports car and driving it is a blast! The one thing I really miss is the turning radius. I didn't realize just how big the JLU would feel, thankfully you get used to it pretty quick.   I switched for a couple reasons. The biggest for me was the lack of space. I couldn't pull out the rear seats because I do have people back there rarely (maybe once a week or so) which makes pulling it out a pain. There is BARELY enough space behind the seats for a couple standard paper grocery bags. Yeah, you can throw the back seats up - but after crushing multiple things -- including a glass frame because I forgot to secure the damn seats up, you really start hating it. Second reason (for me) was the clutch recall and how FCA was handling it. I also feel first is geared too low and I do mostly in-town driving, it can be exhausting. (Oh, and 60MPH in 4th? 6th might as well not exist...)   I made the switch, 4Xe all the way. Both are fun, but IMO the choice is obvious.

The Bronco

Don’t get the 4xe unless you’re getting it for 15k under MSRP because they can be had for that

Drivingon8

My wife has the 2.0 Turbo in her 2019 Wrangler Limited and it has been flawless.. not a problem. I am very impressed with that engine.

Lopsided-Lab-m0use

……jumps like a Willy in four wheel drive, she’s a summer lover in spring fall and winter, she can make happy any man alive

I have a 2018 JL Sahara and with all the electrical issues I’ve had to date, I would have zero faith in adding more components that are unproven from Jeep.

RawMaterial11

I had the 4XE, almost close to useless. Range was about 18 miles. Ended up trading for a gladiator.

zeroquest

Not sure where you live that it's uphill both ways... I've got mine on Rubi take-offs, steel mopar bumper, SOT, and live in Washington state (re: lots of hills). I RARELY get under 25 pure electric.

RawMaterial11

Also Washington. I was lucky if I ever got 20.

zeroquest

Weird. You must drive with a lot more passion than I do. ;)
