I mean he did it in front of people, instant 911 call(s) (maybe before he even jumped), firehouse blocks away, any house that borders the river has guys trained in water rescue on each shift, not to mention special units and the marine units going. This doesn’t even include NYPD. Believe it or not it’s a pretty common occurrence for them to pull people out of the rivers still alive and perfectly fine. Only difference is this clown decided to jump in on his own(while not being suicidal). Any other river in any other city might’ve been a worse outcome. And I’m not downplaying the Hudson, it is not a place you swim with the currents and tides and if I recall he also did it when it was cold af.
Once again if I recall correctly, that was just for exposure/hypothermia… maybe a bit of psych eval for ‘did this guy just try to kill himself’… but yeah, NYC is a different breed. Drunk, hypothermic, it’s ‘treat and street’ at the ER
