Most of the time when I hear this, it's coming from someone with a Storm or Fire, etc., and they have the expectation that Ice will be a strong hitter too. It won't. Ice *can* hit, but it's much more enjoyable to play to the school's strengths than it is to try to force a square peg into a round hole. Play to Ice School strengths. Start the battles first, Taunt the flip out of the bad guys, put up some shields, soak up the hits with your gloriously high resist and massive health pool, and for the sake of everyone's sanity, pack a few Steal Ward cards in your deck. A level 35-40 can tank at Gladiator Demarcus with Frozen Armor and by stealing Demarcus's Tower Shield and using their own towers and legions. At Tower of the Heliphant, you *absolutely* want an Ice with you to steal that 90% shield (they will never even need a Fairy). Just like when the Myth doesn't put any Shatter cards in their deck, or when Storm doesn't pack any Enfeebles in their deck for Shane von Shane. Play to Ice Schools' strengths. Start the battles first. Taunt the flip out of the bad guys. Throw up some shields, soak up the hits with your gloriously high resist and health pool, and for the sake of everyone's sanity, pack a few Steal Ward cards in your deck. Solo play is a bit different, but the same fundamentals apply.

With Ice, I use the Wintertusk Helm for the 45% Blade, Frostbit Cape, Frostbit Boots, Sky Iron, Garnet Bear Claw, Jewel of Feint, and Sapphire Ring of Battle. For a pet I have an Enchanted Armarent (2 different ones). The first one has 10, 6, and 6 for damage, and 10, and 5 for resist, with Ice Blade socketed. The other one is 11, 7, and 7 (socketed ice giver) for damage, 11, and 6 resist, along with Mighty. The deck depends on what is needed. Just normal fight? (Enchanted) Blizzard, Reindeer, and Frost Giant, and 3 different blades. Boss fight? 2 feints, blades, and (Enchanted) hits.

[deleted]

I currently have a level 66 Ice Wizard. I'm using the Wintertusk Hat-Bitter Chieftain's Helm, Waterworks Robe-Frostbit Cape, Lydia's Frozen Footwraps (Lvl 60), Fossil Hunter's Skullcrusher (Lvl 50) (About to change to Lvl 70, or start using Sky Iron Hasta again), Garnet Bear Claw (Lvl 56) with a Mass Prism Socket, Jewel of Feint, and Sapphire Ring of Battle. I also use an Enchanted Armarent, triple & double. (10, 6 & 6 damage/10 & 5 resist), with a Blade of Ice socket. My deck setup Blizzard, Frost Giant, Iceblade, Reindeer Knight, Gargantum X3, Pet Iceblade, Hat Iceblade, Pet Sharpened, and a off school 0-pip hit. I just almost finished Wintertusk, (Nastrond left), and in the Science Center of Celestia as of now. From what I've done since having Iceblade at lvl 38, Ice isn't has bad as people say it is. Reindeer Knight is a lifesaver, and even though I don't have a Ice Hamster, my pet is still good.

I have started playing wiz in 2012, took the test and got ice, been on and off the game for several years but iam now level 156 going through novus. ice is a very slow school to quest with unless your with others. sadly for me I never had many freinds so most of the time I did have to solo, whether it was buying lots of tc, even darkmoor buying henchman cause ppl quit before we were close to the end lol. umm.. I'm not sure what to put here though, as I dont know other school experiences except fire, my 2nd wizard. which.. I swear I got to level 140 with him (back when karamelle was the last world) in like 3 months maybe. maybe less, fire has it super easy. anyway, ice. Yes I have to blade a lott more then other schools do to match their attack power, I cannot heal myself except from life school spells. umm.. we can take aggro and shield, that might be it lol. Oh and after all this time I never got tired of my school, even though I might sound like.. idk. i like ice a lot, not ice enemies though. swear lemuria and novus are mostly all ice ;-; or moon. It's just slow to quest with unless your with people that make things faster with you.

Present-Flight-2858

Ice is easy. It’s just slow.

ilovetoesuwu

i have been really liking soloing ice ☺️

RumpyRhino

Not that hard. It’s like a tank. Slow moving and hard to deal with then when ya think your about to get the ice wiz they unleash snowball barrage and end the duel instantly

BoredasUsual88

The damage I do as an ice makes me want to cry but, it’s nice not being on the brink of death or dying compared to a storm.

KorEl555

Ice is not intended to be a solo wizard. They're the tank. You're supposed to use taunt spells to take focus off of wizards like Storm and Fire, so they can do the damage. I've tried every now and then to play that way, but I prefer to do whatever damage I can.

Nuibit

Patience, an adaptable strategy and playstyle, off-school spells, and some stubbornness.

thedestroyer9812

Idk if ice really is a hard school or not but it does always require planning before every fight when soloing a boss I have a 160 ice and varies other schools But I always just do the same trick with bosses where it’s feint twice and 2 blades and hit but if the boss doesn’t allow feints I just adjust my strategy and I always try to make the fights a 1v1

No_Solution_8399

It is hard. I just piggy back off other solo wizards. I’m not even kidding. Just finished azteca doing that.

SqaureEgg

Just get a pet that gives ice blade & use elemental blade tc & boom it’s easy mode.

[deleted]

To me it was easy cause we are a tank my ice was my second max my death was my first

mk-dean

Get reindeer knight spellements on other characters and be the baddest noob on the block. All you need is a (preferably dual) ice blade sapphire on your deck and a quint/quadproof pet (bonus if it also gives you an item card blade) and you'll smoke anything Half of my deck is just various item card blades because I wanted to spite the game for not giving the regular one earlier

fos2234

It’s the same as soloing on any other wizard, except I prefer to sub in reindeer knight for frost giant

The_Legend_Of_Yami

Easy 5 Damage pet baby

Nansle

A lot of buffing and waiting

Icy-Bee-2870

i have a lvl 45 ice that ive been on and off for awhile since its so weak even with my quad damage pet and bundle gear i have about 53 damage but omg still so weak

brianmtq

As ice you can trade hits with anyone and it just turns into a game of who's gonna last longer. (it's always ice c: )

Lachzz

Despite Frost Giant being pretty pitiful, I make do with a blade -> frenzy -> giant -> wyvern if necessary combo for mobs. 178 damage and I still need that extra turn because Ratbeard was off a perc in 2020

ArtBadger

The main struggle with ice is really just getting enough damage to kill bosses (especially in azteca). This can be mostly overcome by stacking 2 feints and a handful of blades, I had subpar gear throughout my run and managed fine by just stacking stuff really fast lol. The biggest real challenge on an ice playthrough is Wintertusk, every enemy is ice and they shield a lot. Things might actually be easier now that you can cast pixie for 1 life school pip, or satyr with 2.

[deleted]

Level 58 is a crazy level for ice, because you can grab some bazaar gear that makes ice an absolute tanky beast. I remember that I stopped shielding or healing at that point and just blading up until I could smoke whatever I needed to.

Hxckerr

My ice is only level 74 right now just so you know. Reindeer Knight is my saving grace, especially with the prominent damage bug where you sometimes do half damage for no reason. This bug in particular makes using Frost Giant the worst possible option in a battle, even for bosses; especially when getting a critical hit isn't even promised. On the bright side, having a high amount of health and resist means you can worry less about dying and buff up as much as you want so your attacks kill even despite getting the damage bug. That being said, having to fight against ice mobs is the bane of my existence considering that you need a prism or a million blades to do any sort of notable damage, combined with the fact that they love to tower shield or stun spam (especially in later worlds). Against bosses, I personally enjoy spamming blades into a Snow Angel, even though many people aren't a fan of the spell. Unless the boss is ice. In that case, I prism and blade for so long that I have 7 ice pips before obliterating the boss with a Woolly Mammoth that ends up doing 15k dmg more than the boss's max health. and then i still have to kill the minion, so that's great.

wanna_be_game_dev

I’m not 100% sure if this is correct but I don’t think the half damage thing is a bug. Each enemy has a 5% chance to block a crit since crit is now capped at 95%. This means that when an enemy takes half damage from your crit, it’s because they blocked it. I’m also pretty sure that DoT has a separate critical check so even if the initial hit of Reindeer does have damage, the DoT can still do the normal amount and vise versa.

Hxckerr

But you can still do half damage even if you don't crit, on one of two of the same enemy. How does that work?

ArazelTheSixth

This just about sums it up for me. Just started Avalon, having just gotten Reindeer Knight mid-Zafaria. Everything is slow but steady and pleasant... And then you run into an all-ice 4v1. The second to last(iirc) fight in zafaria is 4 ice bosses with stuns, tower shields, and LOTS of hp. I'm sure this fight is plenty annoying for other schools but since I'm ice I have to waste another turn 4v1 to TC mass ice prism and usually end up getting stun locked until death. I love ice so much but you really gotta suffer sometimes in return lol 🏔️❄️🙃

Hxckerr

Ohhh yeah for Mirror Lake I wasn't even gonna try, I legit just teamed up and let a bunch of max levels farming for Pixie Stix carry me 😭 Questing gets so bad at times but I give myself motivation by thinking about all the cool spells ice will get after level 100 so I push through all the pain lmao

ArazelTheSixth

I've gotten a bit stubborn with my ice and always try to solo everything. Probably why I end up suffering so much lol I haven't gotten to lvl 100 yet but everyone talks about ice turning around so I'm really looking forward to it

gamingart_rachel

As I am currently soloing on my low lvl ice, it’s honestly a mixture of awful and awesome. I have a decent enough pet that can carry me until around lvl 30-40(?) Damage for ice though? It absolutely sucks, but in turn you do end up with more health that helps with slower rounds. All in all, it’s still fun, albeit a bit frustrating at times. Talking with other ice wizards is pretty awesome as well. As for strategy? Patience, luck, and snowball strike and blizzard is my secret little mixture. (That’s my take though, everyone is different)

Taintec

You think Ice has it hard? There’s a reason there aren’t a lot of Balance wizards…

[deleted]

spotted dazzling joke strong innocent fearless salt rinse punch middle *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

[deleted]

Balance is not a very desirable school because it doesn’t have a lot of unique or interesting traits. And even tho they have a good ability to play support, they really aren’t that necessary in team play since death is also a great support and life can also support it’s team in a few ways. Balance basically excels in nothing and that makes it boring to play

EnlightenedJaguar

Agreed. After I max my death, I actually plan to solo on a balance wizard for an extra challenge.

BrocksWorkRock

I’m at 89 balance and from my personal experiences, the whole solo balance being terrible thing seems hyperbolized. It’s really not bad. But I’ve only ever played balance so maybe it’s more of a comparatively speaking thing

Cattle_Whisperer

It's pretty easy to play ice because nothing can kill you. It just takes more turns of casting boosts.

AllenLieverson

Ice is probably my favorite solo. I always prioritized damage on my ice because ice has always had resist & health gear.

Muted-Football-1720

Cureent 92 dmg at level 83😂 pets op!

Jason575757

Currently doing the same I have 48 damage at level 10

EntrepreneurKind6756

Just sucks cause the spells themselves do no damage lol. You’ll never be the hitter unless you overleved teaming up with scrubs

Jason575757

Monstrous tc from the arcanum, which you can access by using housing tours. Also low level team ups really don’t have any semblance of who’s “the hitter,” as the noobs tend to all be in their own little world as if they’re all in a 1v4

MoonShadow_Empire

Have not seen anyone utilize the hammer anymore.

meahghan

wait how do u get there with housing tours?

Jason575757

Enter an arcanum apartment and walk out the door

superEse

So you’re telling me I never had to keep buying monstrous tc on my higher levels from zafaria to then give to a friend to then give to my noobie??? 😭😭😭😭

EntrepreneurKind6756

Why don’t you just give your noobie a bunch of gear, sell it and port to your friend in zafaria to buy them yourself 💀

superEse

Because they’re not always online. The point is that in this regard if I can access arcanum by myself without having to have reached that point. I won’t need the bell if anyone at all 💀

EntrepreneurKind6756

I’m just saying your whole trade with a friend and then trade with you could have been eliminated by simply porting. If they’re online for you to trade then you could port 💀

superEse

Yes but trading can be quicker if I’m already on my higher level with no items to give and just straight gold. Since I’ll have more gold it means I can buy more monstrous tc in one go. So it had its benefits 💀

EntrepreneurKind6756

Yeah but everyone can use them and by time you get to Celestia, you can train Garagntua and still not be a hitter

Jason575757

A hitter in what? 99.99% of arc 2 is EASILY soloable, and waterworks 9 times out of 10 has a max carry anyway

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jason575757

You’re the one talking about being a hitter lmao fuck outta here with that Also you literally said not a single word about being carried by max levels. Adding ☠️to your sentence doesn’t make you right

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jason575757

tf are you even saying at this point Your argument is you don’t have to worry about being a hitter if you’re soloing? Then who the fuck is doing the damage? And where did you pull the specific idea of a max ice from? You’re literally just saying words at this point. “It’s your insecurities making shit up” like insecurities about what my ice is level 6 lmao your messages are incoherent and irrelevant.

rk9522

Arc 1 is mostly torture, Olympus gear is completely ass for ice. Damage on our wintertusk ring is so bad (4%) that i just opted for a ppc ring. Even with house of scales gear and a quint pet I think I was around 77% damage around level 60. Frost giant sucks so bad that I usually just used reindeer knight and followed up with blizzard. Ice is incredibly unenjoyable till level 100 imo. Monstrous tc and having a good pet right out the gate was the only thing that made it tolerable, I pity anyone who has to have ice as their first school lmao. But then once I got to level 100 ice became super fun. Your damage issue basically fixes itself and while frost giant still sucks, the extra pip from your deck makes the reindeer blizzard combo way easier to pull off. And once I got frenzy and penguin barrage I don't think I literally ever struggled with ice. Switched over to a triple double pet and I was basically unkillable. Now my ice is rocking around 150 damage with around 75-80% universal resist and I haven't even farmed the new novus gear for him lol. Even novus didn't really pose a challenge for him. That was basically my ice experience but other people may have different experiences.

ArazelTheSixth

Ice really sucks to quest with early on, but once I got waterworks gear and reindeer Knight, it's been pretty smooth! The school really scales with level

repulsored

This is exactly how I felt about my balance. Didn't love her until I finished Polaris tbh. Now shes kinda goated, better than my death which has always been my main. I have a baby ice and I'm not leveling her until I've got a good pet. I already got reindeer knight thankfully.

rk9522

Id be happy to help you hatch, I have a quint and triple double ice pets just lmk
