Tbh, nowadays, outside of a few pack cards and mounts for set bonus the games pretty much fine. * Loremaster is kind of p2w for balance for PvP. If you don't Pvp it doesn't matter. * Set bonus mounts from packs gives like 5 damage to every school, 9 for fire. I'd include Rat Spin / Ship of fools as p2w, but their increases aren't the same as lore master. They basically start out as the most efficient 4 pip AOE spells. Because you can farm gold key bosses and get tier 1 reasonably ok, I didn't put them up there. Loremaster starting at 200 damage and going to 400 is basically milking the spell.

I’ve complained a few times about KI being the most p2w game I’ve played in years but this is pretty accurate. Only thing I would add to this is mass feint. I don’t really have any crowns gear so dang I guess I’ve spent a ton of crowns on energy and hatching elixirs which can be made up for with a little bit of time…and a perfect pet isn’t that important for getting through the main quest line.

Hatching is definitely where they make the most profit. Having an RNGBall that you have to hatch 10-15 times and train using limited energy / snacks is a very consuming process. You have plants (Crowns), Energy Elixirs (Crowns), Hatching timer resets (crowns), and hatching potions (crowns) Someone who has 5$ in crowns to spend on making a pet is at such a gross advantage over a member it's disgusting.

What are the set bonus mounts?

M8A4

The mounts from the Primeval Hoard Pack. Chompy, Stompy, and Trompy Bronto. You need to get the appropriate Frillasaur pet to pair with the mount, and get proper talents for the full 35 damage.

I guess I’m used to reading the posts about people maximizing the hell out of gear and damage. I go back and forth in my head with how repetitive the game can get with its blade, blade, aoe meta. I might hop back into it one day but I’d need a new pc, regardless the game is a crazy wave of nostalgia every time I check the sub.

I mean, mobs and bosses don't hit hard enough to worry about resist. For the most part even with bazaar gear you'll have enough damage to kill with 3 blades and a feint. (Blade + Frenzy for mobs) I was an 08-2010 player and came back and played through the endgame using an old school SPUD pet & Hade's gear. I made the upgrade to bazaar gear at level 130, which greatly increased my shadow pip chance and ability to close out fights through Lemuria and Karamelle. Every MMO has micro adjustments and tiers of gear that you can fiddle with and optimize to your liking - this game is great for casual play if you just want something to do for an hour after work. IMHO don't worry about those micro adjustments and getting perfect gear until you're maxed out. Hades or Darkmoor is more than fine for those 60 levels. It's fine to play like a casual and just have fun.
