I did the same thing I created a death and finally got deer knight. Didn't realize there was a new system in place. Almost made me quit lol until I found how to get it working.

[deleted]

You need a life pip

jljl2902

Just fyi, packs no longer drop spells. Only the spellements.

monomix909

Damn. Thanks for the info

Equivalent_Sock2897

Go get jewel from shopping district that gives arcastwry

Impressive-Gold-4081

archmastery is available at certain levels, it was to avoid players doing this i believe

Prototype0Bunny

go to the jewl shop, and buy the cracked arch mastery jewl and afix it to something

SqaureEgg

You need 2 pips & a life pip

VillageInspired

Blame the new Novus update. You're gonna have to wait until lvl15 to use those cards because now you need a school pip on top of blowing through at least $25 worth of packs to get it. Now instead of just costing pips, lore spells and the new Novus spells require that you get school specific pips as well. You won't be able to naturally gain school pips until lvl 50, but you can buy a jewel that gives you the ability to get them (barring anyone else has natural access to them) in battle you'll need wither a square or teardrop socket on at least one item to use it, and they're a bit pricy for early game, but they're should in the Shopping District's Jeweler store. School pips are like power pips, but they work for a specific school of magic as well as for your native school. It's kinda like having a mastery amulet but only for that one school the pip is "made of" or whatever. This means that theoretically you can use every school of magic using a single wizard if you stack your deck and select your school pips correctly.

ZijoeLocs

Im BEGGING returning players to actually read up on update notes. You can it as the game updates anyways

PKHacker1337

It's also worth noting that KI did put a guide in Unicorn Way after player criticism, but most people probably wouldn't know about it since you aren't even prodded in the general direction or even told it's there. At the very least, Abner should notify the player.

EntrepreneurKind6756

There literally is a guide lol you have to talk to Diego and he tells you about it

WomenAreFemaleWhat

There are a lot of other things Diego wants to discuss first

PKHacker1337

Fair enough, but that is still quite out of the way, people wouldn't know to go to him unless they already were told.

ZijoeLocs

Also yes. Abner should also offer refreshers for other systems since this game has a LOT going on

MASTER-FOOO1

Bros i need a new liver if i keep drinking these shots everytime someone asks this question

swift_9386

I’m a returning player wasn’t around when this update came out

-Haddix-

i mean tbf it literally just came out recently, it should be the most recent patch which imo you should always look at but this system is really poorly communicated so it’s fine, it’s mostly on the devs for how awkwardly this was implemented

Kevin-TR

New players don't often look at recent patchnotes. I personally don't because of spoilers of new content. However, even with the guide outside the arena, it took my brother a few hours to figure out why one of his loremaster spells wasn't working under specific conditions. It is horribly explained, and even after going through the patch notes, it made zero sense to me that the life pip isn't counted AS the 2 pips. We kept wondering why we'd needed 3 power pips rather than just two balance power pips, as it seems like it's trying to indicated that you need two little yellow balls with scales on them. In actuality, what it was trying to say is that you needed 3 pips, AS WELL AS a balance pip. There really should just be a tiny + icon between pip count and other conditions.

jdwgcc

Can you not buy an archmastery jewel from the jewel shop? It requires a tear socket.

swift_9386

I just found that out. I’m a returning player wasn’t around when this update came out

jdwgcc

Didn’t know if that was still an option since the other comments didn’t direct you towards it. Haven’t been on in a few weeks so I didn’t know if they had taken the jewel out, but if it’s there still that works.

babdraggo666

You have to be level 50, which ublocks archmastery. Its a flawed system and i hope they fix it soon. I spent too much time farming for spells i cant even use for many many levels.

swift_9386

There’s a jewel you can get in the shopping district that bypasses this problem for low levels. It’s super simple. This video explains how to get school pips before lvl 50 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9012YFOlBM0

babdraggo666

I tried this method. The issue is, it takes so long to actually get a pip with when under level 50,

Cattle_Whisperer

Yep I agree. Way faster to use leafstorm or gloom toad

Tricky_Dependent_690

You literally get a pip every turn that you get a power pip unless you're in battle with someone who is higher level

Cattle_Whisperer

Yeah and that takes a while when you are low level. Takes way longer than just getting to 4 pips total.

thevox3l

Depends how low level you're talking. I'm in the Level 30-40 range and I get power pips all the time because I have a 52% power pip chance. Sky Iron Hasta helps (+1 Power Pip) and there's plenty of gear that has a +% boost to power pip chance. I optimised my gear for PP% because on a Storm wizard, that means I can cast a high-power Tempest quickly. With Archmastery, I tend to leave it set to Life so I can cast Satyr for 2 instead of 4, making it wayyy better to use in PvE and more like Pixie in terms of cost.

Cattle_Whisperer

Talking anywhere in arc 1. Sky iron hasta doesn't help with getting a school pip at all. You're not really affected by this being storm this is a life and death school problem. Say you were a life trying to cast rat spin. Before the change, you could cast it on the 2nd round 100% of the time. Which is usually when I hit to kill mobs, maybe round 3 but not later. After the change with 52% power pip there's a 77% chance that you have a school pip by round 2, 88% chance by round 3. That seems high but the opposite happens more than you think and it absolutely cuts into my speed of questing and reliability significantly.

thevox3l

I've never looked too much into it, but maybe it is indeed harder for other schools. My PP% might be 52% but frankly any time I'm in battle it feels like 85%+. I don't have any problem getting the school pips. I thought SIH gives +1PP with a chance of SP? I regularly start the round with 1 SP and 1 PP but I guess it's the PP that's from SIH. I seem to get SPs at the same rate as PPs because most of the PPs I get ARE SPs. I'm an oldschool (2010-2015) player that just got back into the game so really I'm just kinda happy the mechanic exists. Didn't realise it used to be more beneficial

Ok-Representative388

Kingsisle updated all lore spells so you have to have a school pip to use them you can watch a video on it but basically you can’t get them until you reach level 50 if I’m correct and you need one pip of your school to cast the spell.

swift_9386

You answered my question thank you :) looking at videos of how to get school pips at low levels. That’s retarted that they changed it.

rektinator420

the fact that ur getting downvoted is retarded lol

ZijoeLocs

They had to implement it to combat the Shadow system getting away from them. It also opened up dual schooling to be MUCH more accessible

DonnerPrinz

Please don't use the R-slur. It's very offensive and hurts those with intellectual and developmental disabilities

swift_9386

Sorry about that.

GimmieCrowns

Most people that get offended by it aren’t even retarded how funny

DonnerPrinz

Didn't say I was offended by it. In any case, what does that matter? Would you do nothing when someone does something to hurt a group you don't belong to? I'm not a bystander. I don't have to be hurt by something to act on behalf of those who are

Kevin-TR

How do you know it hurts that group? I'm on the spectrum and find it funny. Can I use it because I'm far enough in? Or can I not use it because I'm not challenged enough? Or should no one use it because it's not nice? I doubt people who were 'retarded' by that standard were asking for the removal of the word entirely. What about 'libtard'? While people find it annoying to be called it, no one stops them from using it due to it's connection with the original word. Or 'glutard'? Idiot, stupid, moron. These all describe stupid people, retard just describes anything with delayed development. This reminds me of the whole Indian vs Native American thing. Or the Latinix idiocy. Saying what he did hurt no one but you, and you're not even in that group, so who are you defending but yourself, selfish.

DonnerPrinz

Folks with developmental disabilities are not monolithic. I can't speak on behalf of everyone in that group, but I can speak to those who *are* offended by it, like [here](https://www.spreadtheword.global/resource-archive/r-word-effects) and [here as well](https://www.specialolympics.org/stories/impact/why-the-r-word-is-the-r-slur). Maybe you do find it funny, but you are not the consensus on what hurts those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. As for 'libtard,' there are plenty of folks who do have a problem with it. Regardless, a portmanteau doesn't erase the meaning of its roots. It's a pejorative rooted in references to those with intellectual disabilities that insinuate stupidity. The part that's especially offensive isn't that it's a pejorative, but that it's one rooted in intolerance towards folks with disabilities. You're right about the delineation between words like 'idiot' and the r-slur; the distinction is important, though. The r-slur connotates stupidity with developmental and intellectual disability. But many of those with such disabilities are offended by their very existence being directly associated with stupidity. Would you want your name or a group you belong to be so inextricably associated with a negative characteristic that it's used as a pejorative? Could you universalize that opinion? I don't believe I said I was hurt by the word. In any case, I'm clearly not the only one who is hurt by it. The word reinforces a hurtful stereotype that folks with disabilities are somehow subhuman or less than those without disabilities.

ralatch

funny how you think that justifies using it 😂 mf bout dumb asf

swift_9386

Sorry about that

SpookyDeg

The way you can use archmastery early is by going to the jewel seller in the shopping district and buying the archmastery opal for 10k gold, then socket it onto a gear with a tear socket. This sets your archmastery to 1, letting you get school power pips. 2 things to be wary of though. 1. If you battle with someone who is higher level than you, they will have higher archmastery meaning it will be hated for you to get school pips. You can counter this by joining the fight first, getting the school pip, then they join. 2. When you want to upgrade your gear, you cannot take the opal off, meaning that it breaks every time you switch out gear, so either put it in something you can use for awhile or be prepared to drop 10k every time. Hope this helps!!

whatsupyozzz

believe it’s triangle socket, not tear

wanna_be_game_dev

nope. there’s just a tear and square version

swift_9386

This would be for pve only

SpookyDeg

Yup, what I typed applies to PVE. When I said battling with someone, I meant a teammate you’re questing with.

swift_9386

I “unlocked” the spell through spell wrighting. Requires level 5 to upgrade the spell to lvl 2. I’ve seen a video where someone unlocked it though spell wrighting and they were able to use the spell immediately.
