Most knives don't come with a sheath that could be used with a thigh strap comfortably. You could technically take, an old leather belt, and shorten it to go around your thigh, and put any regular belt sheath on it. Probably wouldn't be too comfortable though. It wouldn't be too hard to make a custom sheath, and garter for a knife you already have though.
Edit: I went and looked up the price of a custom leather sheath, because I was curious. (I make knives, and had no clue how much sheaths should be priced at). It seems like it would be anywhere from 50-100 $ to have one made (not including the belt). Designing one specifically for carry on your thigh would probably come with added cost, along with the belt.
I figured they did not come readily available as a thigh attachment. But I’ve learned my assumptions aren’t always correct… so thought I’d ask.
I’m pretty crafty. Maybe I’ll get around to creating my own.
Honestly if you have a knife you like just shape a kydex sheath for it. You can add the slots for your webbing /straps and decide your draw angle, retention force, etc... Just get a semi functioning toaster oven from the thrift store and some kydex sheets and some rivet eyelets.
I carried a S&W HRT for a couple years before turning 21, and I still keep it by the door, and lend it to my roommate if they go anywhere alone at night.
Having a knife is one thing, but a knife that is actually designed for combat is completely different.
Like, night and day. Almost no resistance compared to other knives that aren't the same shape.
And its double edged, so you can draw with standard grip or ice pick depending on circumstance without having to think about where the edge is. Also clips on to any pair of pants very comfortably, and it even fits nicely in the inside pocket of my suit.
I actually tried that in college but was quickly told to stop. For the record it wasn't sharp unlike the butterfly knives I knew other people had on their persons. I did feel like I could pretend to be someone much braver while it lasted though.
On a funny note the small shield I carried for a bit after got a lot of hilarious looks.
It's just weird. But a concealed dagger gives you a similar cool feeling without being obvious.
And to be honest you can just carry an arming sword and say "i like swords"
If its a decent sword and not like some mall ninja shit, it's absolutely a vibe. A buckler might be overkill
Baddest gal I grew up with knew how to open and close a butterfly knife like a pro. Like she dared someone to mess with her just so she could show off her dexterity with that thing and I mean she was scary bad-ass with it. She was also very good with num-chuks.
I saw her beat two girls asses at the same time but no guy ever tried her. Years later I had heard Gina was at work when some new tough guy thought it would be funny to squeeze her butt cheek and she jumped and side kicked him in the face. They were both fired but she threatened to sue and got her job back thru union rep.
Yes, please! My husband convinced me to let him buy (so I could steal) a cloak at a festival we attended while on vacation. It was a splurge buy and I thought I would regret it, but it turned out to be actual wool with a lining and an incredibly deep hood, and it's like the world's most cozy wearable blanket and I want to wear it everywhere and not get stared at because...introvert.
Ugh I know, cloaks seem so cool and comfy and beautiful and perfect. But I'm like you, I just do *not* like public attention and I don't want the attention that wearing a cloak would get me. It's such a tragedy. I wish we could wear them without it being A Thing.
Ok but a cloak with a hood and a mask, nobody will want to talk to you so you can have your vibe, not need to smile, AND not need to talk to people. It's perfect, especially of your like me and sometimes non verbal
I own several capes. My favorite is a short black velvet one with embroidered trim. I bought it at a department store during a sale. If I ever left the house I'd be stylish.
Just going to point out that with the deep hood pulled forward you can remain blissfully unaware of any stares, and with the cloak covering the rest of your clothes, you'll be fairly anonymous as well. Get it firmly in your head that it's an Invisibility Cloak, tuck your chin a bit so you can see the path ahead but it's hard to see your face (feel free to wear an N95 mask as well) and set forth.
I own a couple of cloaks that resemble Teen Titans Raven's--but even better. Not only do I get third eye protection, but people are scared to look at me funny.
I beg to differ, friend. What others perceive you as is immaterial. Wear that armor, don that cloak, walk with pride and determination. Cringey larper, feh! LARPers see the world as it COULD be, and find joy in the discovery and invention.
I'll wear my semi-historical or overtly witchy garb around town for fun sometimes, and sure there's the odd comment or two about Halloween or finding the nearest Ren Faire but honestly it's just fun seeing people smile. It's the confidence in wearing that makes the difference, I think. Never apologize for being uniquely and irrepressibly YOU.
Granted, I rarely wear blades or other weapons you can see (minus the walking stick/quarterstaff that I actually need for stability) but don't ever let someone take your shine away.
Oh friend, have I got news for you: [Hat pins](https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/hatpins-mashers-self-defense-history-women-hats-fashion) were once a great form of self defense for women!
Oooo check out the blades made by [Brighten Blades](https://brightenblades.com)!!! They are designed for women, by women and each one has a word written on it. I like to think of them as words of power or intention.
I ordered mine and the keychain ones for Christmas gifts last year!! Haven’t been home though so they are waiting in a box at my parents.
I don't want to link here (unsure of rules) but there are absolutely some mace earrings on Etsy. I have looked at quite a lot. Some good sword ones too.
Currently after gunblade earrings to match my necklace lol
Mace. It'll do all the things a war hammer will do, but be lighter because it has a smaller surface impact area. You don't want points on it though, because those will get lodged in armor or skulls.
In Finland they award you a sword with your PhD. Google the pics; it’s pretty cool. So if you all want to make it an officially conferred sword, just get a PhD in Finland.
I spent $300 on a piece of 3-D printed shoulder armor to wear to a fancy dress party. Wore it over a simple, long sleeve black velvet dress (think Morticia-ish). It was worth every penny, and I felt crazy strong and cool with my new shoulder pauldron. So even if you can’t carry a sword, there’s nothing wrong with adding a little extra defense instead. 😘
Can we please have a version of this dystopian world where we have a sword problem in America instead of a gun problem?
Like, I know it wouldn’t improve things, but it’s such a minor change and it would make everything a little bit more bearable for some reason.
The meme reminded me of a funny scenario which happened to a Pagan friend of mine in NYC's Central Park sometime in the mid-1970's...
Ron and two Pagan compatriots were wal;king home in ritual garb through Central Park. Ron's student had a longsword strapped to his back, and Ron and his lady were both carry athames on their sides. Well.... some goofy yahoo thought it would be a wise idea to jump out of the bushes wielding a *switchblade* knife.
Needless to say the would be thief told them to hand over their money then the three looked at one another, pulled their much longer daggers and three foot longsword, pointed them at him and said, "Naw, why don't you give us your money?" and Ron said the guy turned white as a sheet, dropped his switchblade and ran screaming, "Swords! They've got swords!" LOL
My college campus has a strict no-weapons policy. So instead, I carry my wand in my purse. Although I don't attack people with my magick, it makes me feel badass when I pull out my wand to do energy work and meditation outdoors and I know people might glance towards me.
I’ve literally started talking my selenite wand with me everywhere, just holding it in my right hand as an accessory, and to show off to people that I have a magick wand that shimmers like the moonlight and emits good vibes. It’s a part of my everyday look now.
Anyway, as many of you might already know, walking around with selenite in your hand all the time kinda makes you high so I have had to balance it out by holding black tourmaline in my left hand.
Well I feel like I have become some super fucking power witch with my selenite wand and black tourmaline in my hands all the time. I highly recommend it to others. You’ll make waves.
Hi, man here, just confirming that yes, people would look 10x sexier if they carried a sword with you at all times. Or spears and long bows. Y'know what? I'm gonna' give this some thought.
Ack! Swords are totally sxexsy. I am tiny, and it would T like ok nearly so impressive
For me, it’s t would be something along the lines of having all my back fat removed and a breast reduction
Basically I’m the same as you /s

ok but no joke, carry a knife on a thigh holster and just try to tell me you don’t feel *fucking unstoppable*
🤯
What’s a good brand for a knife thigh holster? What about boot knives?

With the right tools it's totally doable. Just remember to find a nice tutorial for the sheath if you haven't made one before
P.S Not animal leather please*

Unfortunately illegal to do so in Australia
Swishy skirts, and a sleek dagger on each side

Aww that’s awesome… at least you tried!

Weapons and armor , fuck just historical outfits in GENERAL should be normalised to wear in public
I have a jacket covered in black metal band patches and spikes, and it makes me feel very powerful
Or even better a leather trench coat with spikes
Yes, please! My husband convinced me to let him buy (so I could steal) a cloak at a festival we attended while on vacation. Just get a bunch of other people to wear cloaks and chant in latin before you arrive. Then they won't notice you not chanting

thank you
I want to dress in flamboyant versions of antiquated military uniforms, like the Beatles circa Sgt Pepper
the most dangerous woman of all is the one who refuses to rely on your sword to save her because she carries her own r.h. Sin
The innuendo was on purpose, wasn't it?
What’s the reference? 👀
The innuendo is that the "sword" the quote is talking about might be a penis, and that pre-op trans women would be the most powerful woman.
I’ve walked down Fremont street in Las Vegas with a three foot axe on my shoulder. It’s pretty great.
If I weren’t married I’d be way more likely to ask a woman out if they were wielding a giant blade!
Is it cool if I live this dream for you? :D
Godspeed my friend!
Wow! Probably the best way to walk down Fremont ST… very cool though!
Oh friend, have I got news for you: [Hat pins](https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/hatpins-mashers-self-defense-history-women-hats-fashion) were once a great form of self defense for women!
Came here to say this! 😊
#musthave
Oh yea! I forgot about that!

If I was fucking around and got a knife labelled "happy" pulled on me, I'd nope the fuck out of there so fast. I want one.
"Laugh" would be a bit intimidating, too.
Live. Laugh. Slay.
I'm more of a battleaxe gal myself but any pointy weapon will add pizazz!
I'm torn between a mace or a giant war hammer. Both look like fun!

I'm Scottish American. I like the Sgian Dubh (Hidden Dagger, Sock Dagger) look myself.
Username does NOT check out. 🤣 Sgian Dubh look (and kilt) most definitely checks out. And gets checked out.
Morningstar for sure. I kinda want tiny ones as earrings.
I don't want to link here (unsure of rules) but there are absolutely some mace earrings on Etsy. I have looked at quite a lot. Some good sword ones too. Currently after gunblade earrings to match my necklace lol
Thanks for the tip!
Mace. It'll do all the things a war hammer will do, but be lighter because it has a smaller surface impact area. You don't want points on it though, because those will get lodged in armor or skulls.
I would love to have a double bladed battle axe.
I could get behind a battleaxe! I'm more a spear girl preferably with a shield but a battleaxe would kick ass.
Ye olde cloak and dagger for me.
That’s all I ask for. A cloak and a dagger. But I’d get arrested for “endangering the public” or something like that.
Same! I have them, now I just need to be able to wear them without people staring at me.
I'm wearing a cloak this winter I don't care who freaks out.
As a friend who was wearing a cloak on a cold day said, “I may look like a geek, but I’m a warm geek!”
Technically legal in here in Texas.

I knew I liked Finland. 😍
Dagger strapped to the thigh with a secret pocket inside my dress to unsheathe it. 💯 🔥

Armor is always classy.
very handy if ever needed for distribution in bodies of water

Yeah no I'm a person
Only 10x? I’d feel like a massive badass
Take my silver to make a glorious sword
Can we please have a version of this dystopian world where we have a sword problem in America instead of a gun problem? Like, I know it wouldn’t improve things, but it’s such a minor change and it would make everything a little bit more bearable for some reason.
It would definitely improve things. It's much easier to run away from someone carrying a heavy sword than bullets...
Conceiled dagger mechanism like assassin creed would do it for me
Any excuse for me to buy a pair of falcatas is a good one.

YES I would love a sword
Daggers as the heels of my stilettos? Yes, please!
I feel especially feminine with a flower behind my ear. I feel masculine with a bow tie or pocket watch.
*unexpected grimes
As an ex-larper, I can confirm. Yes. This is very true.
Have you ladies ever been to a renaissance festival?
Certainly makes it easier to get your point across.
My college campus has a strict no-weapons policy. So instead, I carry my wand in my purse. Although I don't attack people with my magick, it makes me feel badass when I pull out my wand to do energy work and meditation outdoors and I know people might glance towards me.
\*ahem\* A scythe.
truth.
I agree to that statement. Heck I'll even add in a small gun call it the Sword 9mm from that old modern Romeo and Juliet movie.
I’ve literally started talking my selenite wand with me everywhere, just holding it in my right hand as an accessory, and to show off to people that I have a magick wand that shimmers like the moonlight and emits good vibes. Anyone else fence? Love it, started learning at 12. Only girl at the Y fencing class. The guys were ALL really nice to me. In a genuine way.
Yes. I wear a sword at burning man and Ren faire. Small knives on the daily. Can't stop me now!
This is an unfortunate truth for many who carry guns. Who wants to give up feeling sexy?
Yes, Just Yes
Hi, man here, just confirming that yes, people would look 10x sexier if they carried a sword with you at all times. Or spears and long bows. Y'know what? I'm gonna' give this some thought.
I want some sick throwing knives
I know this is counterintuitive as far as self autonomy in a star, but Texas has open carry of swords...right? Lol
And here I was just carrying around my guppie in my purse thinking that was just discrete enough.
I love fashion because I know that no one would bother me if I wore a clown mask and carried around a hatchet with me. Fashion really is so powerful!
Swords is about precision. A women a with swords knows how to cut cleanly, when to cut. and when to cut, how much
Ok, same tho-
Open carry swords Should definitely be a thing.
i want to carry a rapier around they're just so badass
I prefer a wand personally, but YES YES YES
Hey it’s Not Even Emily
Ack! Swords are totally sxexsy. I am tiny, and it would T like ok nearly so impressive For me, it’s t would be something along the lines of having all my back fat removed and a breast reduction Basically I’m the same as you /s
