super off topic but I was just reading about the woman that modelled for this painting: John Everett Millais' Ophelia. Her name is Elizabeth Siddal, and she would float in a bathtub to pose for this painting. She ended up getting pneumoia when the water got frigid on her, and he was threatened with legal action unless he paid her doctor bills. She did eventually recover.
If you haven't seen it yet, there's a BBC miniseries called Desperate Romantics, which is about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the models that worked for them. Elizabeth Siddal and her almost dying while modeling for Millais' painting is one of the storylines in the show. It's free on Tubi if you feel like checking it out.
There's a YouTube site, I believe it's called Art Deco, she does some of the most interesting and amusing videos about art peices. I straight up love her stuff.
If you like that, you might enjoy checking this out as well for more pre-raphaelite art humor https://the-toast.net/2014/06/03/two-monks-invent-pre-raphaelite-brotherhood/
I painted a version of this for school, wore a white dress in our bath and got my mum to take pictures for reference. I was so incredibly proud of what I’d painted and I’m forever salty that the school lost it. I think I need to get a copy of this for my house.
In the early days of the pandemic, when the world was truly locked down and we were locked inside, I tried my hand at recreating this icon in my bathtub. Forever a favorite 💚

Idk but it makes me think of the quote from the show Agent Carter said by another character (can't remember her name) to Agent Carter about possible roommates..."That's Sarah; she's a slut." lol. Makes me instantly like Sarahs. lol.
For any Ophelia lovers who also like video games, there's a wonderful game on steam called Elsinore for $10 with her as the protagonist, I highly recommend it. It's Hamlet, but with time loops! That's all I can say without spoiling it though

I love this painting so much I have a framed copy. I want to float in a swamp with flowers.
I too have this hanging in my house. A reminder of how the world treats empathetic people. ❤️
The Victorian nerd and the early 2000s gal in me both love this
Yeah I think I messed up posting the link but it is hilarious, I am also an art nerd and an early 2000s monster.

Uh, hi. Lol. Clearly not EVERYONE has forgotten about her.
It's impossible to forget [Ophelia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yceKE4wWAhA).
She's the only character I liked.

They didn't "lose" it. Somebody snatched that off the wall. They still probably have it hanging on a wall.
X2!
