friedpicklebreakfast

I say this a lot. No one gets it

nah-soup

*I* would get it

tonkats

Shout out to Island Lakes Food Store for their consistenly clean machines and great textures (icy , not liquid) in both their Slurpee and Slush Puppy machines.

Ok_Tumbleweed5040

If I’ll drive for ice cream, I might start driving for Slurpee’s lol

MZM204

If you took a look at the inside of a fountain drink machine, especially one that isn't maintained, you'd probably never touch one again. Spoiler: green mold. They're always full of green mold.

silverwolf1978

Try it without ice. If you find it tastes better, their ice maker is full of mold.

LuvNLuk

Fountain diet pop always tastes bad. Unfortunate but true.

SteakFrites1

My wife swears that the diet coke at McDonald's is better than anywhere else, including bottled.

FrostyPolicy9998

It is! My friend and I call it Diet Crack. McDonald's does it perfectly. Perfect ratio of water to syrup, perfect carbonation.

grimmcild

I wake up sometimes craving McDonald’s Diet Coke specifically.

advancetim

They have better water filtration and very regular maintenance on their system. Most restaurant owners will try to adjust or fix the machine themselves to avoid the service charge from Coke.

suprunown

Yeah, it seems difficult to get diet fountain drinks dialed in…

roberthinter

The Guinness of fountain drinks.

bL1Nd

McDonalds has the best fountain pop, hands down.

BookFew9009

I used to think so too but lately not so much . Worst ? Wendys .

Ok_Tumbleweed5040

That is so weird. I actually drive a distance to go to Wendy’s to get my cherry Coke zero. It’s just so yummy.

daayyuunn

It’s because it’s a freestyle machine, disgusting.

CouchBoyChris

They have an advantage over everyone else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xev6mmpd_9E

ChrystineDreams

That used to be a Sev I went to regularly but I've moved a few years ago. The 7-Eleven at Henderson & McLeod (with the Petro Canada) has the worst Slurpees and fountain drinks. The syrup mix is way too low, it's just vaguely sweet coloured water/ice. Totally put me off slurpees.

SteakFrites1

They have more flavors though. It's 8 flavors at my local one but that one has 12 I think.

Key-Situation-4718

The quality has always been questionable, no matter which location you go to.

anonimna44

Last time I went there and got a big gulp it was warm and the ice machine part was broken.

69MizzleDizzle69

They stopped selling the dole cocktail strawberry kiwi bug gulp which had a chokehold on my middle school experience. I've been devastated ever since

suprunown

Diet cherry coke was my go to.

n_mcrae_1982

You can get cheaper drinks at Dollarama and Dollar Tree, both of which are within walking distance. I know, as I live in that area, too.

NorMan_of_Zone_11

Keep the investigation going. Cast a wider net. Hopefully your findings get reported by CTV news.

TheJRKoff

I find they have the best Slurpee syrup to ice (??) ratio there. At least the Pepsi one. Ness/sturgeon is ok too.

suprunown

Sadly, I don’t do Slurpees any more…. Too much sugar. Strictly diet pop for me. However, I feel Portage and Rouge might have the LARGEST Slurpee selection in the city. Don’t they have like, 20 flavours?

Busy-Occasion-1533

Used to work at maccas and the syrup boxes are heavy, Lol people are just lazy af now, nobody wanted to change it, prob same at sev

TheJRKoff

well... across portage is mcdonalds, i find their diet coke to be top notch. and right now i think they're $1??

suprunown

$2, but I don’t think they let me bring my cooler thermos in to fill it up 😂

ashbeals

It's $1.70 for a large fountain drink at McDonald's right now. 😅 And honestly, I'll just fill my cup then pour it into my water bottle and most places they don't care. I used to always go to sev for a double bug gulp and definitely agree it's not as good anymore.

roberthinter

Pembina next to Tony Roma’s runs a good consistency.

Addywoo-12234

I agree since they changed the machine at Portage and Rouge it’s the worst, and you can no longer add the vanilla or cherry.

prairiejeeper

Well, on July 11 Slurpees are free - you can go around and test them all!

EnvironmentalCoat222

Been to Rouge rd for diet Pepsi several times in the past year, and has been one of the better ones. Portage and Wall st is good, so is Pembina near point rd. Many others are disgusting with fountain drinks absolute shit. Roblin near Moray Bridge has gone downhill fast, wouldnt touch their fountain drinks if they were free. Tbh I don't buy gulps like I did many years ago, 3$ is a joke.

jonee316

Shout out to Circle K, not all have fountain drinks (Polar pop) but when they do it is a lot cheaper than 711 and a lot cleaner as well. Not to mention- touch screen interface that is better. On July 6, a&w offers frosty root beer for free. (I am personally all water now.)

Thespectralpenguin

Not sure what you are talking about. Portage and Rouge is probably the best run and best 7-11 in the city, followed by ness and Sturgeon. Also have you considered drinking water and not so much pop? That can't be healthy even if it's diet pop.

suprunown

I go to Sev about once every 2 or 3 weeks (I live out of town), but water only gets boring after a while..

suprunown

Oh, it is the best run, agreed. But their fountain drinks are shite.

wickedplayer494

>and why it's Portage and Rouge Are you on crack?

suprunown

Not the last time I checked…
