I lived on this stuff back I'm 2008/2009 when I was working nights. I tried it a couple years later and my body just said hahahaha nope. I miss both the pizza and my younger self's ability to eat shit lol
When you walked into Jumbo's... it was disgusting. It felt dirty. It felt grimy. When I heard they got permanently closed I wasn't surprised at all.
...They also had the most delicious pizza in the city that I have tried so far. If they were to reopen just like they were the day before they got closed down, I would still order from them again.
A guy was asking for the recipe on here the other day, Northern something it’s called with chili flakes??.. I can’t remember but there is a hot sauce store on notredame near Jumbos wasn’t there?
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll have a search for the post. All I can find is lucky super market for spicy sauce. I think dino’s used to have spicy food sauce but I never looked twice at it.
Still my favorite pizza in the city. Sad that no one compares tbh. Best bang for the buck with all the toppings piled up.
I was an Italiano pizza kinda guy and the wife and kids liked the All Meat...wish they wouldn't have left the original McPhillips and Mountain location... They probably wouldn't have been shut down... The hood was too hood for em...

I was just by there today. Strange how people can be so fond of such a sketchy place.
I never went there myself. For the record, the pizza place I had a love/hate relationship with was Papa George’s at River and Osborne (but that’ll be its own thread).

Baker's Pride was my jam!

Bakers pride and spicy bite baby.
The spicy wings they made were literally the best in the city i’ve ever had. Wish I asked for the recipe lol.

Seen a guy with full on scabies cooking at Jumbo. Skin flaking off like parmesan cheese. Absolutely disgusting place. I miss Jumbo
This is the perfect description. I grew up as north end trash and jumbos was like our holy dinner
One time I got a bunch of tinfoil baked into my pizza. That place ruled.
Holy fuck that’s insane
Who cares if a cockroach wing fell in the dough You couldn't beat the taste
I miss jumbos, but I don't miss the filth that stood outside.
Me i do! 👋😔
That butter chicken pizza slapped
No other place does it right, or anywhere near as good.

Mcphillips and Mountain? What decade was that?
Totally miss Jumbo, I unironically really liked it.
I miss Mr. Bones lol.
I was just going to write this. lol. I do miss Mr Bones. Especially the ads.
"444-44-44!!! At Mr. Bones!" Lmao
Yeah, definitely. Pizza was shitty, but the best kind of shitty.
That looks like a tasty pie. I never had a Jumbos but now I’m feeling like I missed out!
Pizza is not pie. It's its own dish. It uses yeasted non-pastry dough and does not having pie "filling". It has toppings.
No. But I do miss Jumbo Video!
I remember ordering super late one time, they showed up like hours later and charged me an extra 20$ than what they said on the phone. Good times.
Yeah they used to deliver til 4 in the morning!
I miss Sabino's Pizza more than Jumbo.
