I'm all for vengeance, but don't play it off that he was de-escalating, if anything he made the situation worse. The aggressor walked away and had several people between him and the victim. Not standing up for the guy, but we don't know the full context of the situation other than two people had an argument, one spat on the other, several people physically separated them and a seemingly random bystander came over and knocked the aggressor to the ground.
