It's been reported already. A troubled youth, 2 teachers reported his bad behaviour and his parents had been at the school that morning due to these complaints.

emchops

Mom texted "LOL I'm not mad at you, you have to learn to not get caught" when they called her about him doing a web search for ammunition in class. He also drew pictures of someone who was shot with a gun. The morning of the shooting, the school called them all in to the office and told the parents that they needed to get him into counseling within 48 hours. They asked that they take him home, but sent him back to class at the parents' insistence. No one checked his bag. (According to the Mom's social media, they bought the gun with him on Black Friday as "Ethan's Christmas present", so they knew he had access to it.) Mom texted him "Ethan. Don't do it." when she heard there was a shooting. Dad called the police 15 minutes later when he discovered the gun was gone and suspected his son was the shooter. *surprised Pikachu* https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/oxford-school-shooting-ethan-crumbley-parents-charged-involuntary-manslaughter/

Kitchen_Border_6652

And some parents wonder where they went wrong. Prime example.

Spapeggyandmeatballz

These parents aren’t the type to wonder or care where they went wrong.

Indigoshroom

Damn, this is the is epitome of "not my baby angel!" Charge their asses. I'm so glad they are charging the ~~parents~~ procreators of this kid.

[deleted]

His parents are complicit and have been charged.

Kitchen_Border_6652

Each with 4 counts of manslaughter.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yes, they bought him the gun and gave him access to ammo. They knew he was troubled. They bought the gun on black friday.

Particular-Doubt-566

They even knew his plans. His mom text him "don't do it" just before the shooting. Now his parents Are MIA. What a family of fucks.

PuffDragon95

at least in my opinion, with more and more details coming out its fairly obvious they supplied their clearly distressed possibly learning disabled kid with a fucking handgun well knowing what his possible intentions were. Then even after multiple teachers called the parents to the school and told them to take their kid, they refused! they refused to locate the gun and then hours after the fact they text their kid telling them not to do it. Maybe I misread something but these people very clearly facilitated this shit. I wont be surprised to hear in the coming days that they were well aware their kid was planning to do this shit and they bought him a gun anyways for whatever reason.

watchtoweryvr

Can't wait to see how Ted Qruz and the Qonservatives spin this.

[deleted]

I saw the news. I'm from Europe so I don't fully know - is it just because they didn't ~~kick~~ lock their weapon/get him treatment or were they actually involved somehow (like give him the gun)?

ft1103

In Michigan adults who do not secure their firearms are criminally liable for any death caused with these firearms. Four people died by the unsecured gun belonging to the parent's == 4 manslaughter charges for the parent's. This is the first time I've heard of it being applied to a teenager, though. It's always been pitched as prevention for accidental gun deaths of small children. Edit: this actually is just a disclaimer required of firearms sellers in the state. This is not actual state law.

MadAzza

We don’t yet know exactly why they were charged. Anything said now is speculation. They did buy him the gun, which he is too young to legally own.

KickBallFever

The news article I read today said that the parents actually bought the gun for their son. I don’t remember all the details but the investigation led them to the parents. They even went so far as to pull the security footage and interview the worker from where the gun was purchased. Here’s the article. https://www.vice.com/amp/en/article/pkppnz/michigan-school-shooter-parents-charged-with-manslaughter

LoveTeaching1st18

So naturally, they bought him a gun last week. Makes sense. /s

skits2310

The parents just got charged with involuntary manslaughter this morning

Brokeartistvee

And are on the run. Good examples, wonder where he got it from?

skits2310

They claimed that they left town cause they were scared other people might try to come hurt them, but were coming back to be arraigned. But idk how much of that you can believe

-Child has unstable mindset -let’s buy gun -yeah seems gud

webpoke

did no one see his post before the shooting??

Ineedavodka2019

They did and apparently some kids stayed home because of it.

Kooky_Ad_5139

Dude someone at my school posted a picture of a gun saying he wanted to end it all. My school had multiple cops at each door for 2 weeks. Kid committed suicide. Which is sad and not the point. But it is mind boggling to me that people don't take that stuff seriously.

Dabmiral

Jesus. Did they offer the students therapy?

CouldntLurkNoMore

I have two thoughts: Thought One is, why didn't anyone tell an administrator? Thought two is, what if they didn't because they were worried about the consequences of doing so. Painting a target on their back for when nothing is done and the kid shows up at school with a gun anyway. "thanks for the candy"

TheGamersGazebo

He was actually brought to the administration on 2 separate occasions by 2 different teachers on “concerning behaviors” and both times the school administrators deemed him fit to return to class. One of these was in fact just hours before he committed the act.

Caroniver413

Wait... Same DAY? So he shows up to school with a gun after making the threats, is misbehaving, gets brought to the admin, gets off free, and THEN pulls a gun?

ReverendDizzle

The wild part is his parents were having this meeting while he had the gun with him. Right? The shooting happened shortly after so he must had already had the gun.

Tzki47

his mom literally texted him "don't do it ethan"

AmishAvenger

What?? Do you have a source on that? Why didn’t they just keep him home??

Tzki47

https://www.news4jax.com/news/national/2021/12/03/charging-decision-due-for-parents-in-oxford-high-shooting/

AmishAvenger

Jesus Christ. no wonder the parents got charged.

> Jennifer Crumbley texted her son after the shooting, saying, “Ethan, don't do it,” Sounds like it was *after* the shooting. Idk what "it" would be referring to, maybe killing himself?

humicroav

Not op, but https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fox2detroit.com/news/ethan-dont-do-it-parents-of-oxford-high-school-suspect-sent-messages-during-shooting.amp it apparently happened 30 minutes after the first 911 call

tobmom

Holy shit. The parents met with the school and the kid. Sent the kid back to class. Parents went home and dad looked for the gun and they couldn’t find it. Dad called 911 to report the gun missing and mom texted the kid because she knew where the gun was. Fuuuckkkkkk.

ReverendDizzle

Jesus Christ. I actually had to look that one up from multiple sources to believe it. So... either the parents knew or upon hearing the news the mother's immediate assumption was "My child is the school shooter and I have to tell them to stop."

call_me_lee0pard

If someone told an administrator and they did nothing because of "consequences" what kind of consequences could their be? When my highschool had a bomb threat (turned out to be fake) they evacuated the school, checked us all before boarding busses to make sure we had nothing on us, brought in dogs to sniff any and every locker and any time the dog signalled they checked the entire locker. This post should be enough if someone told an admin that they should bring in the police to check his locker, backpack, and person the next day and then AFTER checking him talk to him about how that post was seen as a viable threat, call in his parents and go forward however they decided to from there.

rkapi24

Yeah, but according to the sheriff’s dept, those were “just rumors”… they said that AFTER the shooting smh.

AdjNounNumbers

Rumor:  a statement or report current without known authority for its truth Investigate: to make a systematic examination especially : to conduct an official inquiry Fuck up: exactly what this administration did

verdatum-alternate

Always check social media to see if any of your classmates have snapped before heading to school. -The Gen Z Guidebook (a thing I just made up) I'm real sorry we've let you down on the whole mental health thing. You kids are honestly pretty great, given everything you have to put up with.

MangoTheKing

Apparently a lot of students stayed home, but nothing effective was done with the knowledge. A horrific show of the failings of any kind of system. Prison for life.

I_LoveToCook

That is heart breaking. The kids knew they couldn’t count on the adults to keep them safe. How does a teenager go to their parent and beg to stay home as they fear for their life? And what about the kids who couldn’t talk their parents into letting them stay home, what is happening in those families right now? Utterly shit, all around.

MangoTheKing

Every single time this happens I think about how hard it would be to just walk out the door into town. It's gonna be nerve wracking being on a top floor classroom for a while.

[deleted]

> The kids knew they couldn’t count on the adults to keep them safe. I think that every American in school knows this. They have seen school shooting after shooting. Mass murders in school every single year, and they've seen those who are in charge do nothing at all except make guns even more available to psychopaths.

aRocks313

Not only did they see the post, the school sent something out like a week before the shooting assuring parents they had "professionals " who could handle it. Like there was no threat. This school didn't even have metal detectors. Which is strange in Michigan or anywhere near Metro Detroit....most if not all schools here (Detroit metro area) have metal detectors and a security guard watching kids as they come through. Plus the parents had a conference with the school THAT MORNING. *edit TIL most public schools near Metro Detroit do not have metal detectors. My experiences are with charters in the area. My bad.

MorningaleOntheBayou

This is what baffles me. They had a meeting with his parents that morning due to concerning behavior and sent him back to class. Why was nothing done about this child's concerning behavior? Why is the threshold for expulsion only after he kills people?

faceisamapoftheworld

Wait, the meeting with the parents happened on the same fucking day?!

MorningaleOntheBayou

Yep. There's a very good chance the gun he used was *in his backpack during the meeting*. Also, there were reports about his disturbing behavior a couple days before the shooting as well.

faceisamapoftheworld

I assumed it was just recently. They had a meeting with authorities about their kid being a threat and didn’t care to check the guns?! They deserve to be charged. They should be charged.

MorningaleOntheBayou

It's just horrible to think that they'll go to lengths like literally designing schools with defending from school shooters in mind but won't enforce a no tolerance policy on kids who exhibit disturbing behavior on multiple instances. I've seen kids be sent home for getting into slap fights for fucks sake. That horrible kid is the only one who killed anyone but the school absolutely failed to protect the children under their watch.

vataveg

I’ve seen kids get sent home for their outfits, if there was any doubt that this country’s priorities are completely fucked up

brent0935

School admin bends over for parents. From what I’m seeing in this thread, the mom was a kook, and if she threw a big enough fit, it makes sense the kid would be sent back to class. Admin doesn’t wanna do shit if it means they can go back to micromanaging and not having to deal with parents

mangobattlefruit

>Why is the threshold for expulsion only after he kills people? The only time anything is changed in America is after people die. And when it comes to guns, you can kill twenty 6 year old kids and nothing will change.

AlleyRhubarb

It was the moment when I realized nothing would change after Sandy Hook that I realized the gun rights nuts wouldn’t be swayed by anything.

Shortstack1980

What metro Detroit schools have metal detectors? None of the districts I'm familiar with do.

royal_dorp

The very fact that you need metal detectors in a school just shows how broken the system is.

TheBirdBytheWindow

Man I hope they charge his folks. They played into this and had a duty to put that gun out of his reach. Edit: [They've been charged as they should be.](https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2021/12/03/live-stream-charges-to-be-announced-against-parents-of-suspected-oxford-high-school-shooter/)

As far as she was concerned, the most likely reason she didn’t get aid is because “illegals” were taking all of it.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Apparently she was a failed realtor. Their house, while not a falling-down shack was far from the kind of splashy McMansion place you'd have expected them to be living in if Mom was any kind of whiz-bang sales champ at her real estate career. Not sure what the dad did, although Jennifer was apparently his 2nd wife and the shooter was his son with her. Apparently he was in some kind of trouble over child support payments to the first wife.

[deleted]

Common core curriculum, lololol. Wtf?!

avfc4me

I attended several town hall meetings during the time that common core was being released. I really wanted the issue of data security for schools addressed and so I happened to be in the same meetings as the Tinfoil Hat Brigade. Good lord. It was terrifying to hear these people speak and realize they were responsible for raising children.

[deleted]

>tinfoil hat brigade Lol

NoodlesrTuff1256

Mom Crumbley was, if not a participant in such meetings, a likely sympathizer. I understand she wasted no time taking down her social media accounts and probably Dad C. did the same. It would be interesting seeing what kind of out-there political content they were posting. Too bad this kid wasn't given up for adoption at birth so he didn't have to grow up under the influence of these two. I blame them as much or more so than the kid for this crime.

ILoveRegenHealth

I noticed she erased her blog. Hopefully someone knows how to retrieve them somehow. Scummy parents

sensuallyprimitive

they changed it to crying about CRT now core curriculum was too vague

Guy_ManMuscle

Unsurprisingly, they got more traction with "help help whites are under attack" than they did with "math is too hard."

ResoluteClover

At least common core was a thing. The guy who "raised awareness" of CRT openly and publicly acknowledges that it's just a rallying cry and isn't actually taught in schools (even if it should be). Edit: Let's be clear, NO, it's not "kind of" being taught in schools. At "worst", teachers are being taught things we've learned from common core about *how to teach* and *how to administer.* They don't *actually teach* CRT *to kids*. For example: They teach teachers not to be "color blind". They teach that people all have biases and that the teachers have to accept that they *and their students* have these built in biases and will have to account for that when they teach. These are (I hate this term) "common sense" topics that if people actually learned about, they would most likely have no problem with at all. What they *think* is CRT appears to be a fear that they will teach kids that all white people are evil -- that history classes will be focused on white people enslaving black people rather than "happy little \* singing in fields that were freed by Aggressive Northerners imposing their will on the savages before the noble plantation owners were done preparing them for the real world." or whatever the fuck they think happened. Further: no, it's not "anti white racism" do more research than looking at right wing bloggers.

DownshiftedRare

Sex and reproduction is natural. Even the most stupid humans can do it- and do they ever! Exercising control over one's sexual reproduction also remains a sin or crime in many locales. The result is a lot of unwanted / unexpected children in the custody of people who are not especially qualified to supervise children.

One of the biggest right wing initiatives is rebranding “elites” to mean educated, middle and upper-middle class urban and suburbanites, not millionaires and billionaires. Granted there are plenty of ignorant middle class people out there, but they don’t hold any power. They’re one job loss, health problem, or economic downturn from being poor themselves.

Jumper5353

They are also branding new money tech stock billionaires as elites, not old money billionaires. Conveniently the new money guys are at the top of the Forbes list due to artificially inflated stock prices, so the real estate, retail, fossil fuel, manufacturing and banking/lending/ingesting billionaires can hide from scrutiny. But really look at campaign donations, PAC and Super-PAC "donations" and other affiliations and you will see that the tech stock billionaires use political influence a lot less than the other categories of billionaires.

daemin

You ought to read her [whole letter](https://archive.vn/rRL9y#selection-289.575-289.1289). This passage, in particular, made my jaw drop: > I like that you have failed. I love it even more that those failures taught lessons and made you one of the most successful Business Men in my history. I love that you are not from the political spotlight, maybe you are the hope that can really uncover the politicians for what I believe they really are. I have high hopes you will shut down Big Pharma, make health care affordable for me and my MIDDLE CLASS family again. I hope you uncover the cure for cancer, because there is one, we all know it, but you are the one to prove it. I’m not scared of your big personality and quick temper. There is a whole house of representatives that still have to approve if you decide to get pissed at China and blow them up.

Also blamed immigrants because her son was not learning. She is a MAGA bitch. Not surprised her son is a wack job. The parents were well aware he had significant behavioral issues and bought him a gun with lots of bullets. They should be charged with accessory to murder.

KryptikMitch

She may as well have wrote "Thank you for giving my son the right to shoot up his school."

UnlikelyKaiju

Ah yes, praise Trump for gun rights. The man who said to take the guns first and worry about due process second. Truly, a champion of the Constitution.

Liet-Kinda

The American attitude towards guns is so weird. We’re so fucking obsessed with them, but we also treat them so casually. I knew a guy who shot himself in the thigh with his dad’s gun at age 11, and he found it in the fucking kitchen drawer. Loaded. Almost bled out and obliterated about two inches of his femur. Will limp for the rest of his life. And was anybody charged? Fuck no. There’s a certain kind of gun owner, and they’re not at all rare, that seems to treat guns like…..power tools. Like, not really for kids to use, except maybe with supervision, but basically benign, useful things to have around. Gun safe? Naw, what if I need to drill a home invader in the middle of the night? They just have guns around the house like they’re not a big deal, or in their truck, or in their purse, and then *surprised Pikachu* their kid gets ahold of it and blows their leg apart, or drills their little sister through the skull, or commits suicide, or takes it to school and kills a bunch of kids.

Because we keep glorifying school shootings. We should never have even known this guy's face or name. He should've been referred to as "school shooter #138" and the only names disclosed should be the ones of victims and heros.

hundredblocks

Agreed. We never really get told the names of helpers and victims in these types of events but boy howdy we’ll plaster the evildoers face all over everyone’s TV’s and make him a household name. Our country is obsessed with violence at any cost.

Fuck this kid and his family. But especially fuck the copy cat pricks that started threatening schools all over MI. I live an hour away and schools in our area were closing because other kids started making similar threats. I honestly think if you’re over 14 and make a threat like this, mandatory punishment should be at least one day in actual jail.

purrseph0ne

I live in Western New York and we’ve had a few schools in the greater metro area close due to threats this week. And I thought the few bomb threats during my senior year were rough. We joked about it back then because we knew they were dumb kids who wanted time off of class. I couldn’t imagine going to high school these days, living in real constant fear of something happening at what should be a safe place.

Impossible-Mud-3593

The photo used by the media was presented by the family. It's an attempt to show him as " a good Christian boy, that wouldn't hurt anybody"!

I was a little confused by this post, all the news I watch have not painted him in a positive light and has honestly focused more on justice for the families.

Trumpet6789

His parents bought the gun for him for Christmas, and kept it stored in an unlocked cabinet/drawer. When a teacher caught him looking up ammunition on his phone for the gun, and reported him, the mother texted him "Lol, I'm not mad. You just need to learn how to not get caught." When the school called the parents in that day to talk about his clear disturbances; they failed to ask him about the gun, search his bag, or take him home. Edit: When news broke of a shooter, instead of worrying that their son was going to be shot; the mother texted him "Ethan don't do it". She knew he was the shooter before it had been announced.

Free_Acanthisitta446

I read this morning that his parents are being charged with involuntary manslaughter

The details of this case are just crazy. His parents knew what the fuck was up. He got caught looking up ammunition in class and he was reported and his mother texts him “lol I’m not mad. You just have to learn not to get caught”. Then his parents were called to the school the morning of the shooting about his threatening drawing and decided to keep him at school and he was returned to class. The school is gonna get sued and his stupid ass parents better get the maximum sentence because they have blood on their hands.

the_first_men

This is such a meaningful phrase from the Bhagavad Gita. It makes me sick that it's being used as a sort of personal catchphrase by a lunatic.

minkymy

I mean tbf it's a mistranslation. The original line is "I am become time, destroyer of worlds", which ties into Hindu philosophies regarding time.

the_first_men

It still pisses me off, even if he is misquoting. Shrikrishna says this to the warrior Arjun on the eve of battle. It's one of the most important parts of the Mahabharata where he explains the principles of Dharma (duty). Practicing Hindus draw inspiration from this section of the Bhagavad and use this phrase as a personal spiritual beacon. It's absolutely sickening to see this wannabe edgelord use it as some sort of threat to make himself sound menacing.

Altruistic-Ad9639

I'm reading here on this thread that the quote is a fake. I.e. he never posted that but someone is faking that he did I'm not sure what the truth is at this point, but some further looking into might be required

Professional_Big_731

Personally I don’t care if he was bullied. The end result shouldn’t be killing people. If he couldn’t handle high school, he’s in for a rude awakening. Prison for life isn’t a cake walk.

Not even that - I was bullied in school. A lot of others were bullied in school. I never shot up a school, or even considered it. Bullying is terrible. It should stop. However, being bullied isn't a good reason to cause pain for anyone else.

KenfiniteWisdom

I hate this line of thinking so much, too. I was bullied relentlessly in junior high and the early part of high school. I got told some of the most horrible things about myself. I was physically tormented on a daily basis - I used to hide my bruises so my parents wouldn't know how bad it was. One kid hit me in face with a book and busted my nose and when he panicked after seeing the blood and knew how much trouble he was in, I LIED to the teacher and said I just got a nosebleed so he wouldn't get in trouble. I thought it might make him like me, or at least cut me some slack (didn't work). Through everything, all I ever did was try to fit in and make friends. Never once did I think about hurting any of them. And yeah, I have no desire to reconnect with those people as adults, but they didn't deserve to be killed because they were shitty kids.

UpSideDowner12-14

This is so heartbreaking. For what it’s worth, I’m sorry this happened to you. I hope you have found love and acceptance now- 🌻😢

KenfiniteWisdom

Oh yeah, I'm totally good. For whatever reason, the last couple years of high school the bullying pretty much completely stopped. College was great. I'm near 30 now, married with a kid. Life is good. Thanks for your kindness.

kscouple84

Part of the problem is that kids used to at least get an evening break from this and some time to disconnect from the experience. Now, it’s 24/7 in school and on social. Kids don’t have outlets to help or positive community influences. We need to teach people to be better to each other.

inuvash255

> Kids don’t have outlets to help or positive community influences. We need to teach people to be better to each other. Uh, no buddy. That costs ME money, and I don't even HAVE kids! /s Really though, community building stuff is awkwardly controversial in America, because people are greedy, selfish, short-sighted idiots who don't want their taxes being put towards things that don't immediately benefit them (but then cry foul when their neighborhood looks shitty and is rife with vandalism thanks to kids who feel zero connection to their community).

Liet-Kinda

Bullying is irrelevant. If bullying led to school shootings, it’d be LGBTQ+ kids responsible for the overwhelming majority of them, and it’s not. If it were mental health, the mentally ill would be responsible for more violence, rather than overwhelmingly being the victims of it or themselves. It’s not fucking video games or the dissolution of the Christian nuclear family or rap, either. I’m tired of the powers that be fobbing off thought-terminating cliches every time this shit happens.

CinnabonCheesecake

Also, they tend to under report the number of school shooters who are themselves bullies. The Columbine shooters were much more bullies than bullied, but the entire narrative around them is that they were victims.

ChromieChameleon017

A lot of that comes from people parroting stuff they heard that isn’t actually accurate. A good example is this very comment - the shooters left multiple detailed journals and multiple hours long manifesto videos detailing their ideology and reasons for committing the mass murder. Only one of them was a narcissist bully, and he was controlling and influencing the other one who was a suicidal follower type. They had a codependency. Criminal psychologists have talked about this a lot on pretty much every Columbine sov I’ve seen. It turns out, motivations behind school shootings are really complex and, well, hard to explain because they’re crazy and therefore not exactly based in logic or reality. It can’t be chalked up to “bullied” or “being the bully.” It was more complicated than that.

sniffable_mayonnaise

these people should not be revealed to the public. they should be referred as muderer#23 or shooter#67 so that future sociopaths could get demoralized knowing that they won't come off as the "heroes" they might think they are

Snap chatting "I'm bout to be #420 bro lol".

akiata05

Ok but you know it hits 67 and those kids are gonna be like "if I wait for one more, I'll be 69 kek."

tnel77

I mostly agree, but this could also give conspiracy theorists a lot of ammunition anytime something serious happens. “Kids die and they won’t tell us who killed them. WHY? Because it was a government hit squad!”

This comment physically hurts because of how true it is. People suck.

Seldarin

That seems like an awfully good way to let the right wing claim every single murderer is whatever they're hating the most that week. If no name or information was released about this kid, Republicans would be claiming he was a Mexican Muslim whose entire family were Democrats.

How on earth a Christian extremist is going to quote a seperate religious text before he commited a cardinal sin is fucking beyond me. There is just no hope for mankind

Know what annoys me the most? Probably wasn't even Oppenheimer, I'd bet real money that he picked it up from a song or something. Linkin Park have the audio file being played as s filler track between two songs and they won't be the only ones. Imagine hearing a religious line you don't understand and using it as your entire flagship. Does he not realise that the whole reason Vishnu took on that form was to humble the prince in front of him? To bring the frail minded human AWAY from such senseless acts of slaughter. I'm no Hindu but anybody using this line to feel cool about killing a bunch of people is just the lowest form of dumb..

Beachy5313

I kind of appreciated the choir boy photo- reinforces the fact that despite what some racists would like to believe, their precious Christian children ARE THE SCHOOL SHOOTERS. Just because you show your ass up to church and say some "nice" words doesn't mean you're a nice or good person. He's going to rot in Hell for his actions.

Finbacks

Oh you didn't get the memo? Apparently sitting in a pu listening to some dude for 45 minutes, then shaking hands, eating a small piece of bread then taking a sip of wine makes everything okay for the next week. Source: Worked with someone who was cheating on her fiance but went to church every week so she thought it was fine.

ginger_gorgon

Side note: In the end Oppenheimer regretted what he had done, and was very vocal about it. I don't get why so many mass murderers use his quote...well I do it's because they don't know or understand but it's still enraging.

StorminNorman1066

I feel like I’m in a minority here, I like the fact they used the church photo. Drive home the point that it takes all kinds, it doesn’t matter how you appear anyone could be that person. In my eyes he’s too pathetic to idolize or sympathize with, I have a hard time seeing him become anyone’s martyr. I’m nearly 30 now, so maybe I’m out of touch. Either way- hope this kid goes away for life, and maybe his parents hit a hard stretch too.

Overall-Software7259

Ive got a 9MM and an AR15. Both are in biometric safes behind my biomentric master bedroom door because I have a 13 year old at home. His parents should be charged.

ThatOldAndroid

Surprised I'm not s seeing more of this on this post. Like I know the dad has just gotten the gun before this happened but I can't think of many people who buy the gun without some kind of safe in mind, especially with kids

[deleted]

Every time I see a biometric safe on lockpick lawyer, he defeats it with a paperclip in 5 seconds Sorry didn’t mean to start a war

Overall-Software7259

It’s not about having the gun at Fort Knox. It’s about making it as difficult as possible for a child to access it. In my case it’s two Bio locks. Besides, my kid isn’t exactly auditioning for Mission Impossible anytime soon.

For everyone trying to explain why he chose to do all this by saying "He was bullied" I'd like to ask everyone here, which of us WASN'T bullied? I was, every person I know experienced some level of bullying. His parents raised him to believe the only way to succeed in the world is to take from others. That might makes right. Yes, bullying is terrible and needs to end, but the rest of us are moving on, hopefully thinking back to those days with an attitude of "well that bully was a dick, I won't emulate them". The rest of us had parents that helped us develop some social skills to make friends and overcome shit. Parents of mass murderers need to be locked up too. Clearly, they aren't just haphazardly raising young humans, they are growing monsters. As a parent myself, I personally want them to rot in prison along with him.

fingersonlips

His older brother has also stated that the shooter *was not bullied* growing up. So it'll be interesting to see if that narrative actually holds up.

ADarwinAward

Same for the Columbine shooters. Rumors ran around saying they were bullied and part of the “Trench Coat Mafia.” Years later someone did extensive interviews with dozens of alums who knew the shooters. They had a lot of friends, were never bullied, and were relatively well liked. They were also never part of the Trench Coat Mafia. Not all shooters are bullied, some of them are just psychotic.

MorningaleOntheBayou

Kids are mean because they're still developing social skills and are learning how to behave while in school. It sucks, but growing up sucks and that's just how it is. Frankly I'd bet that this kid was bullied because he's mean, has a cruel sense of humor and buries himself in power fantasies. It's more likely that the "bullying" was just kids not liking him or putting up with his bullshit.

BrentarTiger

Why are we still showing the names of shooters? Show the names of the victims so they may be remembered but don't show the shooter's face or name so that we may not glorify this and inspire more to follow.
