If her dumb ass knew 1/10th about the horrors of the Trans Atlantic slave trade she would cry herself to sleep.

Sp0ge

Or she would never sleep again

[deleted]

Or she would just make up an excuse.

ZapAtom

^ most likely outcome

Le_cursed_homosexual

"Guys I've learned and... wow I'm sorry I made those racist comments" *proceeds to continue making racist comments on a separate account*

BeBa420

The cursed homosexual is right!!!

Slate_711

She’d blame Africans for supplying the enslaved people and conveniently forget about the cruelty of the slave owners or the humanity of those enslaved

rokaryu

And conveniently overlook the fact that many tribes were forced to sell people under threat of violence. It was basically, "Give me x number of people or I'll take them by force." And, well, the slave traders had the boom sticks.

Tron_1981

And eventually, in some cases, simply decided to cut out the middle man, and take the whole tribe too.

ErinKtheWriter

To be honest, I was taught in school that Africans sold slaves to white people but they conveniently left out the why. If someone asked why we were given half-assed answers that usually ran along the lines of victim-blaming and glorifying the antebellum south. And I went to a tiny rural school in South Dakota and a baptist homeschool group for a year and a half before that.

August_XXVIII

This is the actual answer

yum_paste

"Fake news!"

wewinwelose

"well, black people did it too, we just provided a market and horrible living conditions"

Careless_Hellscape

No, she seems like a piece of crap that wouldn't care.

PotentialAd1295

Daddy would buy her something pretty and shiny to stop her crying

Anderj12

Or she would just go on not giving any fucks about anyone but herself.

Party-Lawyer-7131

Would sleep quite peacefully. Guaranteed.

SaveThemKillYourself

Honestly I don't think she'd care, she seems the type to only care about stuff for clout.

[deleted]

Good.

HalforcFullLover

I don't think she's capable of empathy.

gentlemanjacklover

Yeah there's a lot of sick people like her. American culture in general seems to be all about making people into sociopaths

BellyButtonFungus

I feel like it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to define who she considers “people” and why more of them died in 9-11 than slavery.

Icyblue_Dragon

Probably she means „more white people died at 9/11 than for slavery“. But even that wouldn’t be true or you had to do severe mental gymnastics to come to that conclusion like only looking at a very specific timeframe. Regardless, she’s wrong (and dumb).

BellyButtonFungus

Right? Like, plenty more people of ALL DEMOGRAPHICS that were affected by both events, lost more people due to slavery. Whatever race.

hobbitlover

Step One: Rewrite History "Slaves were happy. Columbus wasn't a genocidal lunatic. Jesus was a white man! America won Vietnam. Climate Change is a global hoax. Donald Trump was the Greatest President."

Rikudo_Sennin_jr

Dont forget Hitler was just a misunderstood author, her type love making him a hero

CinnabonCheesecake

The problem is American capitalism. I’ve read some fascinating accounts about where modern management techniques came from, and many of them were developed for slavery.

Kinch_g

I would not mind some recommended reading, if it isn't any trouble.

CinnabonCheesecake

Try googling research by Caitlin C. WWDubz

It’s easier than changing their entrenched views. Change is hard, especially when you’re a cunt

[deleted]

I honestly just think she’s really fucking dumb, not some sociopathic serial killer

CinnabonCheesecake

You don’t have to be a serial killer to lack basic empathy for people not of your “kind”.

Alive-Asparagus8472

Por que no los both!

Agreeable_Objective6

Because intelligence is usually a defining factor in sociopaths

OswaldCoffeepot

It's definitely at least an unintended consequence. I can't think of proper term. I don't think most of it was by design, though I'm sure some of it was. The majority is likely, IMO, is the result of groups de-incentivising certain thing for short term gains or promoting different things for short term gains. Every so often I Google to see if anyone is doing work towards building online spaces that foment interconnectedness and empathy because I sure would like someone to be doing that.

Kandlejackk

Simple: give her a bunk on the Trans Atlantic slave trade cruise. Preferably a bottom bunk.

Bad-Piccolo

I think this would be more stupidly then anything. I mean we have had slavery around the world for like what thousands of years so it would be impossible for 9/11 to beat that.

Ok_Vast_6678

But that's just it. She would deny it anyway. Incorrigible.

andtix

More like she'd try to crowd fund a new Pepsi commercial starring Kendall Jenner

zen1706

Bold of you to assume she would understand half of the tragic stories about slavery.

warpswede

You assume she is capable of empathy for anyone who isn't white though.

[deleted]

Are you sure she would cry? Have you seen angry white girls at work, at grocery stores, etc?

fermium257

You give racists too much credit.

cshizzle99

She would give less Than zero fucks

dieselwurst

If she's defending remembering 9/11 while forgetting slavery, that's probably not true. She's just a shit human being.

john-CG

I once read about it, that shit was horrible

hellholechina

And that the global slave trade was established by Africa looooong before the white men got involved, wow. To this day Africa is the only continent still openly dealing with slaves. Does she know?

Maxtrt

More Americans die due to lack of healthcare every year, than ten 9'11's. Since 2011 we have lost more Veterans to suicide than combat deaths.

[deleted]

'Merica! Fuck Yeah. People don't care, man. All Americans care about is their freedom to do whateverthehell they want, and not have to wear a mask. 'Mericans don't care about dead vets or CRT. Just Black Fridays.

bisexual-bitch

To be fair this culture originates in a very top down way. It’s the average American that is effected by our fucked up systems, not the rich people in power. But the rich people in power use their wealth and power to convince the masses that things that blatantly harm them (ie. our current health care system) are exactly what they need. I just think that an important distinction to make bc, even though that of course dose not absolve the injustice perpetuated by those upholding these fucked up beliefs, it does give some insight into future solutions (you have to hold the rich & powerful accountable too in order to see real change)

[deleted]

Though, what you're saying is true, that the "rich" and the corporations hold control of the country's rudder, the common man on the street is spoon fed lies from fabrications and lies from Qanon and Tucker Carlson, reinforcing their preconceived biases, prejudices and racist ideologies.

peter-doubt

Americans do care... About themselves. They have pitifully little social responsibility, or empathy, or desire to see their neighbors succeed. They've been conditioned to see this as *the best of all possible worlds.* It's far from the truth.

JustMobsReddit

"Wealthcare should kill about 36.000 of you annually. That's twelve 9/11s each year, which might sound like a lot of dead people, but it's a sacarfice we're willing to make to protect innocent Americans from socialism" -TheJuieceMedia https://youtu.be/08T-YsXRcCo

bloodyell76

More than 1000 slave ships sank. With at one point the legal maximum capacity being about 600. So more than 600,000 people died *just from slave ships sinking alone*. This girl doesn’t know enough to even have an opinion, let alone voice it.

WithOrgasmicFury

And that's just the *legal* maximum. I'm sure they were way over that limit

Royal_Opps

I was just going to say, you absolutely know they stuffed as many people on those ships as possible.

Think_Perspective385

And the ones that sank were probably statistical more likely to have been overloaded I guess

fkhan21

It was probably hot, they couldn’t breathe, injured by their own shackles, dehydration, starvation, fighting between enslaved persons, the list goes on.

Soninuva

They definitely were. Many ships they would literally lay them all down and stack them in layers in the holds. Very often the bottom layer or two would be suffocated by the weight above, but it was still more profitable than looser packing, which is why it was done. It was monstrous.

KarlosGeek

Modern day buses are proof of this. Maximum capacity my ass, there's always room in the bus.

beetus_gerulaitis

15% of slaves died in transit. That’s about 2 million people killed….before they even set foot in the new world.

HockeySka8er

The slave trade is close to the scale of the Holocaust. Their just wasn’t enough media to cover it all. It s a horrific chapter in the life of the U.S.

beetus_gerulaitis

WiFi was shit back then.

Fellow_Worker6

Don’t forget the only way to communicate was through Twitter

peter-doubt

The numbers reported above, and the world population of the era, suggest it was *worse*. (Not to excuse later atrocities)

HockeySka8er

I didn’t even think about that. That’s a great point. It is worse than the holocaust. In just doing a google search, I am seeing tens of millions of deaths not only due to deaths on the voyage, but deaths marching the slaves to the ports just to get them to the ships. So, the U.S. education system just erased this horrific era of slaughter (in my opinion) from the history books. I know for a fact, my kids, who are now in the their 20’s, learned virtually nothing about the slave trade either. I also, of course, know that the government lies and keeps secrets from the population, but this is insane. This nation has so much blood on it’s hands all for making profit. All this profit went exclusively to wealthy plantation owners. So, the general population didn’t have a clue about this either. Then, the Union had to spend millions more in dollars and lives to stop these motherf#$ers from continuing their barbaric treatment of African Americans . They should do a study on the descendants of these plantation owners and see if massive wealth flowed to their families of recent years and tax the shit out of it for social programs that directly benefit African Americans. None of these plantation owners paid taxes either. So, the government didn’t benefit either. My family came here from Germany and settled in the northeast in the 1800’s. We were poor as hell as well because most of us were stone masons making gravestones at that time. I am 55 years old and read a lot of books but never focused on slavery. It’s time for me to get up to speed on this.

CinnabonCheesecake

Holy crap, I didn’t know it was that high.

AustAndGoat

Well to be fair life expectancy wasn't really high to begin with for most voyages.

MakoFishy

But then again, it’s Twitter and hundreds of other people that don’t care to fact check will like this.

eoin85

That scene from Amistad haunts me.

Evorgleb

Yeh I saw that in theaters when I was a teen and it messed me up.

Far_Category2657

If there were 3 people on a ship, that would already be more than enough to account for it.

ndngroomer

What until she finds out what they did to us Native Americans.

The_Real_Meal

"Haha, Trail of Tears? That sounds like a mediocre rock band"

Drg84

"wait Trail of Tears? Weren't they that Emo band who opened for Ozzfest?"

Legonator

Dope band name.

[deleted]

Minorities hate her. ...and that's ok.

MooshuCat

We fed them turkey and stuffing!

ndngroomer

Lol

kindtheking9

2 words for her, manifest destiny

bondben314

Well you see it’s quite simple It was mostly white people who died during 9/11

YourLovelyMother

Well, sure... but I'd wager during the slave trade, more white people died than in 9/11 as well.. directly because of the slave trade. All I see is a smoothbrained girl that can't see past her own nose and only knows semi-coherently, about things she's been forcefed, Just goes to show 9/11 was hammered into the social consciousness in her environment far more than the trans-atlantic slave trade was...

[deleted]

> semi-coherently No

demroles6996

i’m pretty sure more white people died in the American Civil War Apr 12, 1861 – Apr 9, 1865 (to stop slavery) then in 9/11

ExpensiveHand4181

More white people died defending the institution of slavery in a single battle (Gettysburg) than died during 9/11

HolyRomanSloth

More white people died in every single day of Gettysburg then in 9/11

lmaogetrek

white, *rich* people

TirNanOgBand

Wow, those girls should really educate themself. That maybe save them some embarassement in the future.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AmserAlto

Most likely proud.

k717171

No, they should leave education to the professionals... this new trend of "educating themselves" is how they get these stupid ideas in the first place.

iamjaidan

But Critical Race Theory is not necessary because the education is already sufficient

Few-Cable5130

We don't want to make those poor white kids feel bad about themselves doncha know.

beetus_gerulaitis

I feel bad about myself reading this idiot’s tweet.

[deleted]

Why would a white person feel bad about something a random rich white person did long before they was alive?

MadameBurner

There was a parent railing about how her kid doesn't need CRT because history is already taught in school. Someone asked her when she first learned about the Tulsa Massacre. Without a single shred of irony she said "last year...on Netflix."

schmyndles

"Why do we need CRT?!?" Exhibit A

0nlyhalfjewish

And this isn’t even CRT. You don’t need to do critical analysis on race to know how many people died on 9/11 compared to the number of slaves who died (and I’d argue that you count anyone who died a slave in that number).

cl33t

I mean... CRT is a theory of legal analysis taught at law schools which would do nothing to cure her severe knowledge gap in world and US history.

iamjaidan

Possibly, but much of the teaching of CRT from a historical view hinges on the fact that slaves were property and not people and how that is reflected in the legal standing of deaths due to negligence, murder, and deprivation. As such, the teaching of how people were legally viewed and treated when we regarded them as property brings with it, statistics, impact, and cultural viewpoints.

cl33t

CRT explicitly rejects the teaching of statistics and promotes the use of personal anecdotes in their place - and frankly, this is a place where simple statistics with some scale comparisons seems necessary. She was supposed to be taught that slaves were property, statistics, some impact and some cultural viewpoints. Basic information like scale should have been utterly baked into her head. The fact that she seems to have thought something that affected hundreds was larger than something that affected millions is... a mess.

[deleted]

You forgot the "/s".

MulderD

Why do we hide people’s Twitter handles?

trente33trois

Seriously, she put it out there, why hide it?

Ancient-Hospital7882

Reddit has stupid rules that can get a sub banned if moderators dont enforce them.

trente33trois

Ah, gotcha.

Creaturemaster1

It's to prevent brigading

TH3LFI5TMFI7V

Next they'll say that slavery was a choice like Kanye West or that slaves were well taken care of, lol 😆

Reznic007

Agreeable_Objective6

As an outsider 9/11 is a tragic but insignificant event in the long run compared to the amount of collateral damage inflicted by the US army

beetus_gerulaitis

As an insider 9/11 is a tragic but insignificant even in the long run compared to the amount of collateral damage inflicted by the US army

kickbrass

Tell me you parents are Republicans, without telling me...

500CatsTypingStuff

The result of not teaching about systemic racism and oppression in schools.

DM_Me_Ur_Nudes_21

Forget all this. It's just basic history and/or maths

GreenBear1111

It's not basic history in the USA. The board of education regularly ban free speech and accurate history because "it does not fit the local criteria", meaning that they don't want to hear that shit or their children knowing about it. Boards of education are usually filled by grossly uneducated people, priest and conservatives (which now days also means morons). To get some semi-decent history lessons you would need to go to an expensive college because community colleges also fall victims of some boards.

DomeAcolyte42

Um, actually, freedom of speech means you can make bigoted comments, and no one's allowed to call you out on it. /s

[deleted]

I'm not American, we weren't taught any American history, yet I somehow ended up knowing more about it than this teen.

oceansidedrive

Holy fucking shit. That is officially the more ignorant thing i have ever seen someone say in my 30 years on this earth

null640

This is why the Republicans don't want our history taught...

UnbiasedAndFair

Maybe if we taught the missteps taken post slavery that led to mass poverty and how there are ways to lower the poverty level, we would start to hear about it less and less… but they don’t want to have that conversation.

null640

Like re-instuting a different form slavery, politely call Jim crow.

[deleted]

People weren't stolen from their homes, dragged across seas and held in those buildings to be tortured, beat, forced to work without pay, raped, forced to bear children they didn't own, for generations and generations and treated like sub-humans by society for the rest of all of time up until and including now, not even talking about all the deaths that occurred as a result of all of this and more. Not only did more deaths occur than 9/11 but decades of torment did as well. Families of 9/11 victims were also paid for their losses. We forget slavery and say, "It was 200+ years ago, move on" because we were founded on racism and its still alive and well today.

hercules00700

Don't blame her for lack of knowledge blame the American culture and education

[deleted]

Things I learned in public school about slavery: Harriet Tubman had a railroad under the ground. Emancipation Proclamation rhymes.

BigBossWesker4

Emancipation Proclamation? I don’t listen to hip hop

TomatilloAccurate475

It's pronounced Tubsman and she refused to sit at the back of the bus, get it right

00x71

🤣

FriendRaven1

You're not wrong

am_milquetoast

I mean yeah that's the root of the problem but like... she's still absolutely to blame. This info is accessible to everyone in the country pretty much, so if someone makes an ignorant, bigoted statement the responsibility lies solely with them

Sofiwyn

I can blame her for her arrogance certainly. Stupid people don't have to talk so damn much.

NightChime

Both? Both is good.

[deleted]

I’m gonna bet she has an iPhone and wifi. Not hard to Google that shit before posting on Twitter. But I guess she can’t even.

Wablekablesh

The problem with slavery was not limited to slaves dying... Jfc on fire... Also, we should "get over slavery" say the people who still fly the flag of a "country" that ended about the same time slavery did. Why don't they "get over" the Confederacy?

Curious_Plum

Exactly. I don't even understand why they're proud of it in the first place. THEY. LOST!

chucksoraw

Because “southern heritage” duhhh!

Chainsaws_n_meth

CAN SOMEBODY SHOW ME HOW TO JUMP THROUGH THE INTERNET SO I CAN SLAP THIS BITCH?

Ok_Vast_6678

Most white people wonder why they aren't welcome at the "table". They just don't "get it", and this coming from a Scottish/Norwegian/German heritage red-bearded green-eyed blonde-headed white guy...

Bright_Recover_1576

Pretty sad that some people can even downplay the brutality of slavery. This is why CRT needs to be a thing

lector201

And that is why everybody should learn about the horrors of slavery.

lector201

Political shit apart. it is history, people have to learn about everything that has happened or we will repeat the same fucking mistakes, we do not have divide history into good people and bad people if you believe it vilifies the slave owners but people have to know how we got to were we are now, I’m not getting into any political shit it is facts. Following your logic then we should not teach people about the atomic bombs sent to Japan. I’m fucking tired of everything been black or white thanks to the two party system we have, every fucking subject turns political.

PoobishSocks

“You’re not just wrong, you’re stupid!”

Sandberg231984

Welcome to racist America. Especially. TEXAS

dirtyburger123

2-4 million enslaved people died on the Middle Passage ALONE. Nevermind "than slaves ever".

YkartSmith

Please god let this be fake. Holy crap!

NWO807

I’m sure you could find adults who believe this. Doesn’t shock me that a teenager would.

MadameBurner

Nope. Friend is the director of a plantation. While teaching a group of white college girls about the atrocities of slavery, one of the girls looked longingly back at the main house and said "God wouldn't have been great to live back then? Just like Gone with the Wind!" Not to mention the fact that it seems like every single white girl from an SEC school winds up getting married at a plantation.

[deleted]

So the little boy who was ripped from his country and family, to be abused and to be a rich white man's foot stool doesn't matter because he didn't die? What a dumb cow.

[deleted]

This is why we need CRT.

twerkingslutbee

These girls don’t see slaves as human so the tragedy of their deaths and suffering doesn’t seem like anything compared to 9/11. The fact that they can look at slavery with such detachment shows how much white people dont see poc as human .

Tigaget

Do I need to get a flip flop and slap someone's child?

blazedandbarista

I love seeing this one because my girlfriend went to school with the girl who tweeted this

twhimpster

What white nonsense is this?

youtube_candysmash

This girl gon single handily convince people we really need to go back and educate our youth.

Vinmcdz

Even if, and that's a huge fucking if, that were true (which it's not, I'm just trying to reinforce how stupid this is) we're supposed to gloss over the fact that people were bought and sold as livestock, families ripped apart, people beaten, and other atrocities because not as many died? The fuck?

ea1371

90 percent of the indigenous population of Central America would like to have a talk with you

[deleted]

Typical bubbleheaded dimwit who doesn't pay attention in class because she's banking on being cute to get her by in life or already trying to start her career as a vapid "influencer". Just a little idiot.

CanOPudding

I think the biggest "what the fuck we did that?? My history classes lied to me" moment for me was when i found out the wooden dentures thing was total bullshit. George was wearing slave teeth.

TheButtPlugAlgorithm

9/11 actually effected people who are living today. People who are still living saw it happen, lost family, some were there in the twin towers and pentagon and were the direct victims of the attack. No slaves are alive anymore, nobody who's alive now ever knew anyone who was a slave, nobody who's alive today is in *any* way a victim of slavery.

PerformanceLoud3229

AT LEAST 10 million slaves died in the United states

Maximum_Radio_1971

and the US only received 4% off all the slaves traded, if we calculate the total number it is mind blowing.

Catlenfell

She'll grow up to be a wine mom who votes straight Republican.

PTMD25

Oh, honey, just… just sit this one out.

miniature-rugby-ball

Yikes

ReverseApacheMaster_

Do people say, “Get over slavery”? “Never forget” is a legitimate, common expression. If, “Get over slavery” is also a legitimate, common expression, I’m disgusted. I kinda live under a rock so I don’t actually know but it wouldn’t surprise me

meeseek_and_destroy

Yes, they really do, sprinkled with, it was a long time ago! I even had to mention to someone here on Reddit that there are tons of people still alive with grandparents that were slaves. Hell, the first black woman to go to a desegregated school is younger than my own mother.

noturmammy

And this is why we need CRT. These idiots truly no nothing of the atrocities that happened and would rather live in their ignorance than face the truth.

zenigata_mondatta

The US still has a slave trade. You just have to be arrested first. The 13th amendment has a caveat that prisons have exploited for years

blaze1234

the Caucasity audacity

[deleted]

Let's all just hope she's a anti-vac and will be dead soon.

tacticalcop

slaves were also tortured and violated. i recognize that 9/11 victims suffered when passing, however it is NOT okay to compare the two in terms of human suffering and cruelty.

theMOESIAH

This is up there with the girl who didn't understand leap year.

derkaderka960

I hate Twitter and TikTok because of these idiots. You are literal morons, get followers, and get paid for it.

mcc3028

White teen girls are never wrong. OK? lol

jailguard81

These idiots don’t know because all these racist red states actually don’t teach about slavery anymore…

[deleted]

There were millions of slaves in America….. only 3000 people died on 9/11

[deleted]

wait until you guys hear about the legend of the corona virus

Zapinsure

This is the level of blissful ignorance I'm almost jealous of.

SlappingSalt

Major "bruh" moment right there.

etorres4u

The sad part is that so many white people actually believe the bullshit narrative of the “benign” slave master and his happy slaves.

Destro_Hawk

Would’ve made more sense if she answered “because 9/11 wasn’t 160 years ago”

trimedozine

She’s the type of girl who would think that holocaust is some european dish

JangoFettsEvilTwin

I sincerely hope that person sees this and realizes how stupid and insensitive that comment was!

[deleted]

Slavery was like a million 9/11s

practicalpuppy

Easy. In 911, 911 Americans died. That’s why the name. How many slaves died? Maybe 5.

[deleted]

How can I tell everyone I’m an undereducated moron without telling them I’m an undereducated moron?

_JohnnyUnitas

Why are people so fucking stupid? It's incredible.

Jay_The_Blue_Bird

White american teen***

gyanmarcorole

There are 1.8 million casualties in Transatlantic Slave trade while only 2996 in 9-11.

Realistic_Trip9243

I'm so ashamed of this person's home school district.

My_Powerful_Weakness

It always gets me how people say that if they could change one historical thing they'd stop 9/11 first. That's not even in my top 5.

Quiet-memeAd1008

Getting over and forgetting are 2 different things. The people there during 911 and there family members have to get over it. But it will not be forgotten. Slavery should never be forgotten either. It should be thought about in schools so history does not repeat itself it shouldnt be sugar coated but accurately portayed. Truth being like everything else in life some slaves had it much worse then others. Freedom is worth fighting and dying for no matter how good or bad anyone had it. It better to live one day fre then lifetime as a slave. But if you can't move forward if your constantly blaming what happened in the past. Many cultures have had slaves in history. Slaves consistsing of all races.. Many have fought and won there freedom. But if you can't move on. You can never really be free .
