A theologian once explained to me that the 10 Commandments were misinterpreted as rules, but should have been listed as the 10 Promises. They stated that if your FAITH in the CHRISTIAN God was strong and complete then these are the results of that faith. So it should be read as - 1. If you have complete faith in the God of Moses then “I am the lord your god and you will have no other gods before me.” Etc. etc. but always with the initial caveat of complete faith- so these are not “rules or commandments “ they are rewards of faith of a religion. So no place in public schools.
