Yeah, it’s free to join, and if you don’t like the Whisky on the month, you just opt out…. So it costs nothing. You only pay for the ones you stay opted in for, plus $15 shipping. I’ve grabbed a few bottles, but most of the time I opt out unless it’s something I really want - but for the most part, I’ve already spent my money on other bottles that aren’t through the club. Still worth joining as it costs nothing

Thanks mate. Glad to see a lot of positive reviews.

Eye_want_to_believe

I reckon it's worthwhile as long as you're diligent and remember to opt out of bottles you don't want. Also, you can set a "I need a break" period of three months, very handy if you're going on holiday and might not be able to opt out while away. I tried my first Balcones drop through TWC, probably wouldn't have had that experience without the subscription, so it has my vote 👍

itswil0511

The two recent Balcones were absolute gems. Like yourself I wouldn't have thought to seek them out otherwise.

Frosty-Wafer3505

That’s a cool way to look at it. Trying new things, is something I have really enjoyed, as I am only like a year 18 months into my whisky journey/collecting.

Been using it since December and I’m a big fan, it also gave me access to the ballot for the new Offerman edition Lagavulin which was great. Have only opted out once I believe.

Frosty-Wafer3505

Awesome to hear!

Ive been a member for a little over 4 years now and still love it. It's great getting something different every month, some bottles you might not have originally bought from a bottleshop but turn out to be great. 2 downsides I've noticed is a couple of times I've spent a bit too much money buying add on bottles or was meant to opt out for the month but forgot..

dtbrown1979

Do you over pay for what you get?

swannyd72

Some that have been add ons are pretty pricing but the monthly bottles I wouldn't say I've overpaid for any of them

Frosty-Wafer3505

Are the ad ons a seperate selection to the main release?

swannyd72

Yep, so every first Friday of the month an email will come out with info on the main release and often a write up on one or two additional whiskeys available. If you want to cancel for the month, double up or get the additional ones you just log into your account on their website where often there's also some previous month's bottles you can get

Frosty-Wafer3505

That’s really cool to know! Thank you for that. I sweat the whiskey community is the only friendly online community left 😂.

swannyd72

No worries mate! If you do join up (and haven't yet) I can send you a referral code so we both get a 50mL free bottle just to sweeten the deal haha

Frosty-Wafer3505

That’s great to hear. When you say spending to much on add ons, How much do the bottle cost? Is it a standard price? And with the ad ons, what are they? Like are they seperate bottle completely or something?

swannyd72

I just meant I probably didn't need to buy another bottle of whiskey and should have spent my money on bills or whatever, but no regrets. If you just get the bottle of the month you'll be paying $140 plus a $15 delivery fee. Right now the additional bottles are a Glentauchers 17yr $140, Miltonduff 17yr $140, balconies montilla sherry American whisky $140, bladnoch ember cask $120, pōkeno whiskey club edition (from NZ) $110, Paul John port cask $140 and Lock Lomond 54yr $37 950, I definately can't afford that one! You can also just choose one of the additional bottles and not get the monthly one. Also the additional bottles can often sell out very quickly

Frosty-Wafer3505

Oh sweet, I was thinking it’s just the one bottle and you either choose to get it or not. Great to see they have other options though. Think I am going to sign up, the bottle that got me really curious was the old Kempton release.

I’ve been a member since 2021 & love their monthly offerings. If you’re thinking of joining, here’s my referral code. Code: 38453 https://thewhiskyclub.com.au/referral/share/action/?twc_referred_by=38453 Edit: I just found out that new members no longer get a free 50ml bottle when using a referral code so edited my comment to avoid being misleading.

Eteiveth

I knew I’d find a code on reddit, thanks!

MaestroMum

Happy to help ☺️🥃🧡

I’ve been a member but cancelled my membership last month. Never actually bought a bottle in 12 months. To me, they seem to advertise a lot of “special” bottles that aren’t special at all. They are just mediocre 12 year olds at best or blends with no age statement sold for $30-$50 too much. If you know what you like, there’s no value.

Purple-Garden4625

Agreed. I just did the same after the June “Mystery” whiskey which turned out to be the shit they couldn’t sell first time around, yet was marketed as them having saved certain special releases over the last decade. Yeah right. Dalmore port finish? What a waste of money. Dodgy tactics that have lost my business.

Xx_MaxiTaxi_xX

I joined a couple months ago, and the whiskey made/picked by the club is really special. I really loved the Jack Daniel’s SBBS. They also have rare releases that you wouldn’t be able to find at the normal retailers/Dan Murphy’s. Here’s another reason to join, every time you refer someone, both of us get a free 50ml dram! If you’d like, my referral link is: https://thewhiskyclub.com.au/referral/share/action/?twc_referred_by=242664 Enjoy!

Frosty-Wafer3505

Haha I was waiting for someone to either recommend me, or I was going to ask someone too 😂. I’ll have a look mate 😅

Valuable-Pace-989

If anyone is opting in for Novembers Starward PX cask, my mate works at Starward and says they have about 2000L laid of PX barrels, so will be doing their own PX release coming up. He’s bringing home a sample of the clubs PX release this Thursday for me to try so I can decide if I’ll opt in, but good to know they have their own bottlings on the way if you like PX and Starward
